THE GOOD ---------------- + EXCELLLLLENT food! ++++ Grilled Octopus was perfecccct. Exactly what you would expect for a grilled octopus - grilled to perfection and flavorful. Perfect portion too. ++++ Grilled Chicken & Pineapple Salad was pretty good. The salad was very large and came with lots of ingredients (lots of chicken, chopped cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, craisins, cheese). Only downside was that the pineapples were clearly from a can. ++++ Margherita Pizza was one of the best pizzas we've had in NJ .... period! Crispy, no flop, thin, super fresh and fantastic flavor. A+++. + Spacious interior and lots of tables separated between 2 different sections. + Menu had lots of items to choose from - plenty of different pizzas, salads, pastas, chicken dishes, pork dishes. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Nada. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = There is typically plenty of angle parking outside. = Was pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon at 12 PM. Only a few tables were occupied.

    - Open, bright, and clean space with a spacious double-dining room; convenient street-angle parking right out front - Surprisingly quiet for a Saturday lunch--we were the first guests seated, with just a few other parties arriving during our meal - Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive - Food was overall very enjoyable: Grilled Octopus was uniquely prepared--crispy on the outside, tender inside, with good flavor though a touch too salty; Pineapple and Grilled Chicken Salad (weekly special) was huge, with a generous portion of simply grilled chicken over a mound of fresh greens, though I was a bit disappointed the pineapple appeared to be canned rather than fresh (too high expectations, I guess); Margherita Pizza was the highlight--excellent light, thin, crispy crust and a perfectly seasoned sauce - Cash discount offered

Came here with my friend on a Friday night. We actually stumbled upon this place by accident while we were getting drinks nearby. We noticed that there was a line to be seated and since I was in the mood for pizza we gave this place a shot. Once we entered we put our name down with the host and mentioned it was a 20-25 minute wait. We went to the nearby liquor store to kill some time. Once we were seated, they served us water with complimentary bread with butter and the bread was buttery and yummy. We started with caprese ($16) which was fresh and tasty. For our main we got the linguine with clam sauce with white sauce ($25) and the clams were delicious and the pasta itself was flavorful. We also got the chicken parmigiana pizza pie ($25) and that was solid as well especially the dough. Overall I had a really good dine in experience and I will be back to try out the wood burning pizza. * Outdoor dining available * BYOB * great service

    Long hots with potatoes. Delicious.

Perfect, Perfect, perfect experience! I came here on a Friday night at about 6:30. This restaurant does not take reservations as I attempted to call 2 days earlier. When we walked in it was pretty crowded and the host has said it may be a 20-minute wait. I said no problem because I did not want to go anywhere else. I was eating dinner this evening with my daughter and my wife and I didn't want to spend 20 minutes looking for a different restaurant. It was a good move to say. Yes, I will wait because we only waited about 7 minutes until a seat became available. I always say if a restaurant is packed it's because it is good. While I was standing there with my beautiful wife and daughter, a gentleman came up to us and struck up a conversation. He worked at the restaurant and started talking about the Yankees because my daughter was wearing a Yankee Jersey. Talking about how he goes every year to see a game, it was a nice pleasant talk while we were waiting. After we we're seated. We got complimentary bread. It was four pieces of focaccia bread with butter. It was probably the most tastiest bread I've ever gotten at a restaurant in my recent memory. We easily ate those four pieces while waiting for our first course. This place is BYOB so my wife immediately started working on her wine while we looked at the menu. We ordered the spicy mussels and clams dish for appetizer and I ordered the long hots with potatoes for appetizer. My wife got the grilled octopus while I got the squid egg pasta with seafood. My daughter is very simple and she just ordered spaghetti and a butter sauce. The decor was very nice. Not too fancy but definitely not run down. The place was loud but it was a crowded Friday night. This restaurant does numbers as not one table was empty. Also seems like it does very well with to-go orders. For Friday night they were definitely slinging the pizzas. I was very impressed with our appetizers. The long hots and potatoes had such a beautiful flavor. I could just take a bath in that sauce. My wife and daughter really enjoyed the muscles and clams in a red sauce. And it wasn't too spicy for them. When our entrees came out we were ready to eat. My wife asked for another order of bread to go with the meal, the bread was that good. My dish tasted fantastic, All the seafood tasted fresh. There was crab and shrimp along with tomatoes in the squid ink pasta. I would definitely order it again. My wife loved her grilled octopus. And my daughter loves her spaghetti. All in all, this was a great experience and I cannot wait to return.

Food was overall delicious! The eggplant rollatini looked a little too flat for a rollatini though. The Penne Loren was DELISH! Someone else had pizza which was also amazing, cooked well as requested. Chef even asked how everything was but the rest of the waitstaff was cold, rushed and non-communicative. We thought they needed the table at first but there were plenty of empty ones. The place is very loud though. Just be prepared. We would definitely go back.

I had another good meal here. This time I had the grilled salmon with roasted potatoes and broccoli rabe. It was very good. The fish was cooked perfectly. Nice sized portion. Bread always yummy.

Came here for lunch while traveling for work and had a delicious meal! They have a cute front patio and two dining rooms inside: one with a great view of their pizza oven! Had it not been 11am and me needing to stay awake for work, I would have totally gotten a pizza because this baby with authentic. Having said that, I didn't skimp on the carbs. I got one of my favs: orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe. It came in a heaping portion with a light olive oil sauce - made to perfection! The nice server also accommodated my annoying ask for oil/vinegar dressing instead of Caesar. Love her. Definitely a cute neighborhood spot and would definitely return. Most other restaurants I saw in the area were chains on Google Maps so I'm glad that I found a local spot to enjoy!

This place is a hidden gem! Great portions, delicious entrees. Highly recommend. Shrimp Peeps are way too good, pesto is on point, and the bread, WOW. The wife got the shrimp ink linguini and approved!

Delicious!! Have had so many people recommend here and it lived up to the hype! Caesar salad - Parmesan cheese and dressing were SO good!! Chicken cacciatore - loved! So tasty with loads of veggies. Wonderful flavor with fresh herbs. The roasted veg and potatoes it came with were great. Pizza looked great and my boyfriend loved it. Omg order the Nutella calzone!! Heaven!! Service was great and such a happy environment. Can't wait to go back!

WOW! I can say this place is well worth every dime and minute we spent. Great friendly staff and amazing food. Everything we had was fantastic and authentic: margherita pizza, different pasta, mussels, calamari, rice balls - you name it, they have the best. As a large group I appreciate their ability to easily accommodate and provide great service. Interior is decorated nicely, with a few italian funny phrases on the walls which made us laugh. Comfortable seating and table setup. I'm excited to return soon! Grazie mille Amici's!

    Linguini with Clam Sauce

My father often comes here and brought my husband and I here for the first time last night. We met the owner and he is just truly fabulous. I knew this place was going to be great the moment they put the bread basket on the table. I actually was stunned by how great the bread was, I could literally sit there and dunk it in olive oil all day. For apps we decided to get the broccoli rabe and sausages along with a margarita pizza. The pizza was fantastic! Wood fired, light and beyond delicious. The broccoli rabe and sausage was ok, I felt the broccoli rabe could have been softer and the meat quality for the sausage could have been better. For dinner we all got pasta, I got the Linguini in a white Clam sauce and the pasta was cooked to perfection and the clams were plentiful! We sat outside for dinner since it was a nice night, I just felt like the service outside was a little slow, my father said it is much better on the inside. Dessert we shared the hazelnut gelato and it was quite good. I would be happy to return here and try other things on the menu in a heartbeat!

Absolutely loved our meal here yesterday! This place is not only serves amazing food but the energy is so energetic. From the hosts, to the waiters and servers everyone was so nice. First, I love the presentation of ice being in a little bucket. It's up to you to put how much ice you want in your glass. It was very cute and I loved this idea. Second, their bread is DIVINE. It's so soft and tasty. I had about 4 pieces without any oil or butter, thats how tasty it was. Now let's talk pizza! We ordered two different types, the Regina and the Gen . Both were so delicious and it was the perfect type to share between two people. If you like buffalo mozzarella def try the Gen! Can't wait to come back and try more from their menu!!

Grumpy's Sourdough Pizza Co. 522 Saddle River Rd…read more Saddle Brook, NJ 07663 Hot Honey Heaven Grumpy's Triple Threat Multiple people have reached out to me and suggested I explore this locally owned pizzeria located in the heart of Saddle Brook. As I entered the parlor, it is a hole in the wall with minimal seating and no AC unit. Regardless that it wasn't fancy, I still had a very gut instinct the quality of their pies was going to be on the money. When I arrived a weekday afternoon to place my order, the cashier informed me there will be a 40 minute wait. For the fact that the wait is this long indicates there are in demand and their pizza is top quality. I also saw framed plaques along their table counter showing they received positive media recognition from The Record, northjersey.com, and bestofnj.com. Hot Honey Heaven: I was initially skeptical about the appearance of this pie because it looks kind of messy. However, I took a single bite and was immediately hooked. This pie was topped with pepperoni, crispy chicken, and ricotta cheese. Mike's Hot Honey was generously poured over the top. It has a combination of sweet and spiciness. I never anticipated honey would enhance the flavor of the pie; I wish I requested an extra cup! Grumpy's Triple Threat: Named after the restaurant, this pie is prepared with pesto, grandma sauce, and pink tomato sauce. The sprinkled parmigiano reggiano added a nice touch. I especially liked the artistic appearance. The three colors were visually appealing, especially with the swirls of pesto. All pies are prepared with their signature sourdough pizza crust. Each slice had a perfect undercarriage and a firm crunch. Customers have the option to bake the pies may light, medium, or well-done. I chose medium because a majority of the customer base prefers this style. As a bonus, Grumpy's offer complimentary crust upgrades. I opted to add garlic butter brush; the outer crust edge was literally brushed with hot, garlic-infused butter. While it is common to throw away the top portion of the pizza, the upgrade is definitely an incentive to eat the crust. San Marzano tomatoes are the primary ingredient for the sauce. It's not overly sweet and has a light tang. This pizzeria is geared for take out, but there are plenty of benches only minutes away at Saddle River County Park. You can enjoy your pie while admiring the beautiful scenery of the park. The parking lot has limited spaces, but you can easily find a spot on the street. Grumpy's may be a hole in the wall, but the pizza was outstanding. I'm really exuberant that I had a pristine experience exploring sourdough crust for the first time! I was far from "grumpy" after dining here! #grumpys #grumpyssourdoughpizzaco #grumpystriplethreat #hothoneyheaven

I asked what was on the chimi slice before ordering and the employee started listing so much I forgot! I think the beef would've been better than the chicken; the chicken didn't add much flavor.
