Excellent food, service and atmosphere ! Owner Rosario is a gentleman. Will definitely be going back !

We've been ordering from Amici's Restaurant for quite some time, but unfortunately the quality of the food has been on a steady decline while the prices continue to increase -- and the two simply no longer match. Yesterday, we placed a delivery order totaling over $80. One of the meals was specifically for a guest who cannot have dairy or cheese. We clearly ordered a plain buffalo wrap with no blue cheese, along with French fries. When the order arrived, the wrap had blue cheese inside it and, instead of fries, came with a salad. We called the restaurant to explain the issue, but the person who answered the phone seemed unable to understand what was wrong with the order. After several attempts to explain the problem, she finally said she would get the manager, Rosario. What happened next was completely unacceptable. As soon as Rosario got on the phone, he accused me of threatening him, saying, "So you're going to come down and kick my a**," even though those words were never said by me. He then added, "You know where I am," which only escalated the situation further. Upset by the accusations and the way the situation was being handled, I went to Amici's with the incorrect wrap to address the issue in person. When Rosario approached, he made gestures as though he wanted to jump across the counter at me, and the interaction quickly became heated. Rosario then retreated toward the back kitchen area, and when I went around back to continue the conversation, I was met by several employees who threatened to call the police. I left the store, only to be met outside by local police officers, who thankfully worked to de-escalate the situation. professionally. At the end of the day, this all started because a simple food order was made incorrectly -- including ignoring an important dietary restriction. Instead of correcting the mistake and handling the complaint professionally, the situation spiraled into an unnecessary confrontation. Between the declining food quality, rising prices, repeated order issues, and now this experience with management, we will not be returning. read more

We went at 5 pm on a Saturday and the place was busy. The ravioli (5) were served on a large flat plate and the sauce was a plain marinara and bland. The bread on the table, I would guess was pizza dough, and had a course salt seasoning. My husband had chicken franchise over angel hair pasta with a lemon butter sauce and he also said his dinner was not well seasoned. The service was good, the owner came around to greet all patrons and was very funny and interesting. Amici's is a BYOB and prices reasonable. read more

Our "go to" for solid Italian. Four and a half is more accurate rating. The restaurant itself is popular so it's usually noisy, crowded and not comfortable for a dinner out. However, the food is quite good, reasonably priced and worth it, so we usually opt for delivery which is prompt, accurate and delicious. Chick parm, eggplant parm, pasta with sausage and broccoli-rabe, lasagna are favorites. Prepared well and packaged in tins which we prefer to plastic. Portions are more than ample and main dishes include a side salad and decent bread which is appreciated. All in all great eatery to have nearby. read more

Located on the main avenue in town with street parking and a few spots in back. What started off as a very good pizzeria has now turned into a fully functioning (BYOB) Italian restaurant with tables outside in good weather. The food is very good although it is more expensive than its competition nearby. Large menu with many options including some very interesting Signature pizzas ( personal & large) such as the: --Palermitana 12" pizza made with San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Onion,Spicy Sopressata, Ricotta & Honey or the --Norm's Big Sexy 12" pizza made with Sausage, Broccoli Rabe, Homemade Mozzarella & Parmigiana Dishes like the Penne Loren: chunks of chicken breast sauteed in a wine & butter sauce over penne pasta with broccoli & sun-dried tomatoes is one of my favorites and a big portion, or the --Bucatini Amatriciana which is a thick spaghetti with a classic fresh plum tomato red sauce , onions & pancetta topped with romano cheese & basil..another favorite of mine. Of course save room for some of the Italian desserts offered although they are not made in-house. read more

We love the food and the owner, Rosario, is very friendly. The quantity of food lets you know you will have leftovers. My nephew says the Sunday Gravy tastes just like his Nonna used to make. The pizza is also amazing and the service is great. We come back here all the time. The only downside is that they don't take reservations even for large parties. read more

I want to start off by saying for a Tuesday night this place was rocking! Rosario came out to greet this table of 4 co workers who had never been here before now . What a ball of energy he is and so friendly and entertaining! I always order the meatballs if it's on the menu and they are truly the best I've had . I learned they are made fresh every other day so I will be back to get more and the sauce is like Nonna makes it ! No wonder this place was packed in. Amazing establishment! My wife and I are excited to be moving soon and being closer to this place. We've been here twice and both times the experience was amazing. Amazing l, tasty food with generous portions for the price. Great service, the atmosphere is lively but not chaotic. The owner walks around and personally checks in on you, which is something my parents did when they owned a restaurant. It gives a very nice feeling to know the owner is involved and cares. This place is a perfect example of that feeling when the food is SO good you can't stop eating it & later feel like a lard. Absolutely delicious food. I ordered the Chicken Boscaiola & it was fantastic. The sauce was amazing and the vegetables were very good as well. We started with the calamari & it was very well portioned for 3 people and was crispy and delicious! My parents also enjoyed their meals very much. It's obvious we will all be returning to this place. The lemon blueberry cheesecake was a great way to end the meal along with a nice cappuccino. The staff is very attentive and really friendly and insightful when ordering. The whole atmosphere is really great and just a bunch of smiling and happy customers. Job well done Amici's! My husband and I come here at least 1-2 times a week on those days when I simply don't want to cook. I'm pretty selective of where I go - but everything I've ordered here so far has been phenomenal! My husband and I love the roca and grandma slices, Genova panini (this is what we order the most), their chicken dinners, meatball appetizer, chicken parm and eggplant parm, cauliflower appetizer... their broccoli and garlic, salads, I've had a lot - it's all delicious. I believe Rosario is the owner, and he is incredibly personable. The staff have always been polite, friendly and attentive. Sometimes when they're SUPER BUSY, service is understandably slow - but you can expect them to check in at least. A few errors once in a blue (I've been coming here since they opened years ago so it's a great track record of getting things RIGHT), and errors were primarily when delivering, but they always make it right. We've had catering from here for my son's 1st birthday and his 100 days celebration and had a great experience both times! The guests loved the food and everyone asked where it was from. If you're catering for a big group, I would highly recommend their packages. Great variety of pastas, meat, veggies, and seafood. There's something for everyone. Pricing is ridiculous for bland and incorrect food. Almost $50 for one chicken parm and one eggplant parm is crazy, but maybe that's just me. Also, if you say "no grated cheese, only mozzarella cheese" expect no cheese at all. All I'm saying is if you order take-out, double check your order prior to leaving...if you can afford to eat here. Enjoyed a great dinner here with friends. We started with two smalls pies - the Bianco (white pie with shrimp and artichoke) and the Palermitana - which was a margarita with hot sopresatta, onions and a drizzle of honey added - excellent!! We also shared the "Shrimp Beeps" - Shrimp served in a rich/spicy sauce with some focaccia on the side. Also very good! Dinners here were all consistently well prepared and delicious! From rustic favorites like Lasagna to inventive dishes like the Tagliatelle with shrimp in Alfredo sauce, everything was great and co-owner Dominick made sure he stopped by several times and helped us recommend our dishes too. My friend and I enjoyed Meatball Romano and the Fried Calamari as an appetizer. For our main we both order the Wood Burning Pizza's and went with the "Neopolitan Classics": Toscana and Vegetariana! At some point we were offered bread and then more bread... and yes, somehow I snuck a piece in my togo container with my pizza. Staff is charming and charismatic- btw BYOB I learned that "Amici" does translate to "Friends" ~ Can't wait to go back again soon... hoping to go with the same friend... stay tuned! read more

I know everyone raves about this place but I just find it mediocre. was at a table with drinks and eatping our bread already and the owner said they would have to move us because there was a big group coming. We go here all the time . We went here last night and it was just awful. They sat the three of us in the DR on the left knowing that they had a party of 30 coming in . We were told It was 30. Well it was 15 screaming kids with 15 adults. The food was just OK . But we asked for the manager who was away , then someone came and we said this is awful ; you should do something with the bill , take an appy off ... something . Still waiting . We all left with headaches . Just awful experience and we will not go back . They just kept saying we've asked the parents to quiet the kids down ... Too bad . The tables were a little too cozy together but manageable. We ordered sharing style of calamari appetizer: delicious and crispy not greasy; Caesar salad and a brick oven pizza. Took a detour here one weekday night while waiting for Rt 17 traffic to clear up. At 5pm, we were seated immediately, but as we left around 630pm, there was a line out the door on a Thurs night. Pasta special was delicious as well as anything out of their wood-fired oven. Extremely family-friendly and service was awesome from start to finish. Have been here multiple times and love their food and service! Ordered from here for my husbands graduation party and a friends baby shower and the food was delicious. At the restaurant I love their complimentary bread. The only thing I would say is a potential negative is the size of the place (it isn't small but it's often busy). Any good restaurant should have some more space! That being said if it's a busy time like the weekend I would suggest making a reservation. read more

This place is an absolute gem hidden in Maywood. From the great food to the service, you can't go wrong. Food: Since its opening, my family and I have been coming here very often, tasting many options on the menu, and without question we are blown away every time. I highly advise going at dinner time specifically instead of lunch, they have homemade bread they only serve during dinner hours. This place tends to fill up quickly, almost every night. If you go on a weekday you'll have no problem getting a table for dinner but on the weekend don't be surprised if it is packed, its a new hot spot and there are many people looking to get in around dinner time. Service: The people are all wonderful here. From the cooks, to the waiters, to the owner - you will not be disappointed in the friendly atmosphere they always bring to the table. The food is always cooked perfectly and brought out in a timely manor even with the restaurant being packed. I've really never had a problem, both dining in or for take-out. This is a great neighborhood spot in downtown Maywood, the owner a former hockey star from the community. We had a casual business lunch meeting there as we were all in the area. I hear at dinner time on the weekend. the line is out the door even as they have a decent size dining area, And I could tell why -yes it has something to do with the grandma pie! I had the escarole and bean soup, which was phenomenal & a nice size. One of the guests had a pork dish that looked nice and tender. I noted and appreciated that every dish placed on the table was piping hot which really speaks to the attentive service including the owner, who stopped by to check on everyone. We've ordered from Amici's several times in the past, and we've also eaten inside the restaurant. We've only really ordered pizza, a wrap once, and a salad. This time we ordered the cavatelli with chicken and broccoli - unfortunately it was inedible. There was about an inch of oil coating the entire bottom of the tin, and the chicken pieces look weirdly bloated and boiled. It turned us off completely from wanting to order there again, so unfortunately I think we'll be taking a break. Maybe they were very busy. read more
