Contrary to Jon L's opinion, I think Amighetti's would NOT be in the running for greatest sandwich, but then again, I'm not searching quite so hard. I got half of the "little bit of Italy" sandwich and a side classic salad. The salad claimed to have artichokes (I saw none). I was expecting something similar the the Pasta House Co. salad, but this didn't even live up to those standards. Mainly iceberg lettuce and some olives. The sandwich tasted microwaved, and the "cheese blend" seemed to be a mixture of American and Provel....YUCK! The decor, or lack there of, was sparse and less than clean. I will say we came after the typical lunch crowd, so maybe they just hadn't wiped off any of the tables yet or swept the floor? Unfortunately, I would have to say save your sandwich attack for somewhere else. read more

This place is terrible. I'm not from St. Louis, and we decided to stop here before our long drive back home. I was told they have the best pepperoncinis, so I was excited to try their sandwiches. I ordered one of their veggie sandwiches and asked for no mushrooms. The lady at the register insisted that it does not have mushrooms on it even though it was listed on the menu. I said, "Okay, I just don't want mushrooms." Not only did it take over a half hour to get two sandwiches, but there were mushrooms on it. I was frustrated after waiting over 30 minutes for the wrong sandwich at a time they weren't even short staffed or busy. I took the sandwich back and asked for a new sandwich without mushrooms and told them the lady at the register insisted that it didn't have mushrooms. They took it back and remade it, but I made the mistake of not checking it until we were on the road and it didn't have the pepperoncinis on it, which is what I came there for in the first place. It cost me almost $30 to get a large soda and two sandwiches, and one of the sandwiches was made incorrectly twice. I'm so mad I paid almost $30 for mediocre sandwiches that you could barely tell the difference between their sandwich and a Subway sandwich. I never write reviews, but this made me mad. Things are too expensive these days to not get what you paid for. Save your money and go to Subway instead if you just want an okay sandwich. You probably have a greater chance of getting it made the right way and in a reasonable amount of time if you go there instead. read more

Even though I live next to The Hill, I oftentimes went to this location because they give you an option of gluten-free bread if you want it. I was at this location the other day and placed a large order. I realized they forgot my salad dressing which I had asked staff to put in my bag with my order. I had assumed they charged me for it but I was never given a receipt. The younger girls (probably teenagers) were very polite and helpful. So I got to my car realized they forgot to put my salad dressing in the bag and went back in. This older gentleman probably in his 40's started yelling at me to get behind the counter. I stood there in shock because of how unprofessional he was as he screamed at me to back up. He was so rude and wouldn't even let me talk. Apparently there was a sign to not pass a certain point which I clearly didn't see. Instead of being polite and explaining that to me he took the time to yell at me in front of everyone. I was extremely embarrassed and in shock. It was uncalled for. What if I was a person with a disability....maybe I couldn't read, see, or hear? That's how he treats people? Not to mention I was the only one in the whole restaurant who was wearing a mask and have a Covid vaccination sticker on my coat. I was clearly not trying to break any rules. Then when I did get the little words I could out he pulled the receipt and put it in my face to show me I didn't pay for the salad dressing. Like he was trying to prove a point or something. He was such a jerk. I just can't believe he is probably a manager or owner there. Unfortunately I will not be returning here after many many years of being a customer. If I still lived in St. Louis this would probably be my Sunday sandwich shop. The restaurant is free standing and easily accessed (despite road work currently going on). To be honest, the only reason we went there is that it was Sunday and we were leaving for home that evening. Since The Hill location isn't open on Sunday (per long tradition), we opted for Rock Hill. To be sure, it isn't the Hill. It isn't historic, quaint, and for us doesn't carry any sentimental value. It also doesn't have the attached bakery, so no delicious smells. It is shiny and new, and has pretty standard decor in modern world of fast food. It does have self-serve drinks (unlike The Hill), which was nice because it took a while for our order to be prepared. The menu is about the same as the Hill, and all the expected sandwiches. As always, we ate too much! A sandwich and drink should last several days, they are so gigantic. I had a Special, my wife had the Little Bit of Italy, my son the Vegetarian, and my daughter the French Dip. Some sharing was involved, and everything was delicious. Taste wise, it seems identical to the original location on the hill. The bread comes in frequently, and is quite fresh. I am told it comes in at least daily, sometimes multiple deliveries. The meats were great-- fresh and generous-- with some coming from Italy and some from Volpi Foods (a neighbor to Amighetti's on the Hill). All in all, it is great food, but I would go to the location on the Hill in St. Louis if I could. A larger menu, better ambiance in the store, and much better ambiance outside. A post meal walk in Rock Hill doesn't have anything to recommend it. Strip malls and heavily trafficked street, unlike walking The Hill area, with lots of shops and old houses, etc. If I lived in Rock Hill I'd probably visit this location and do take-out. Great way to build a sandwich patter for game day, for example, or just to take home for dinner without spending time cooking. Eating in is fine, but better than, say, Wendy's largely because the food is better, not the shop. read more

So, when the most ENORMOUS sandwich I have ever seen came out I was pleasantly suprised...and EXCITED! You may not know this, but the bread they use at Amighetti's is the same bread that Mom uses at her deli (Mom's Deli). Back to the sandwich though: of course I had to order the Amighetti special, and it did not disappoint. It was loaded with meat, cheese, Italian dressing, onions, lettuce - all the fixins that you would expect from a classic Italian sandwich. A very good choice and it is towards the top of my list of greatest sandwiches in the world. The Rock Hill location wowed me! I ordered a 27" Amighetti's Special on the evening before the Super Bowl after phoning a few other places only to be turned away. Best decision I could've made. They were extremely friendly, offered multiple times for pickup, and accommodated special requests without batting an eye--all of this on one of the busiest days of the year, mind you. Beyond the stellar service, the sandwich itself was incredible. Great value for the size and it tasted even better than I remember it (and I remember Amighetti's Special being pretty flippin' fantastic). I cannot recommend this place highly enough. read more

There is nothing "Special" about the Special Sandwich at this location. If you order one prepare to get a pre-made sandwich with mushy bread and lettuce. Their soups of the day are meh nothing special and lack flavor the only one that has been good was the clam chowder which they very rarely have. Their Meatballs (alone and in a sandwich) are pretty dang good. If I do go there for lunch that is what I typically order. They usually seem pretty busy and have a lot of people going in and out with party trays so they must not being to bad with business. The staff are nice and the place is usually clean. My advice if you are going for the Special Sandwich is to order it special so they have to make it fresh and your lettuce and bread won't be soggy. read more

People who got there after us received their food long before us. When they brought our food, no one apologized or addressed the situation. Food was then sub par at best. My first experience at Amighetti's was an absolute delight. I went with my friend around 2:30 in the afternoon and the restaurant was empty but for one single other customer. The restaurant's layout is like fast-food, where you order at a counter, but the food is beyond exceptional. My friend ordered half of one of the signature sandwiches with a half order of pasta, which was the perfect amount. He said it was all very tasty. I ordered the grilled cheese, which usually comes with vegetables but I requested none - which left me with a sandwich made of mostly bread and a small amount of cheese in between. However, it was still very good. I believe it was the owner of the store who visited our table a few times, making sure our food was alright. He also personally wrapped up our leftovers for us to take home. All of the staff were very friendly! My friend said the men's restroom was extremely clean and made the joke that he would eat off the floors! The only true complaint I have about the restaurant was their menu board, which was slightly confusing to read. However, the employee at the register helped us through our decision making process! read more

I come here from time to time when my son has friends over, and get 4 or 5 sandwiches to take home. Always a good experience. Today I came in to pick up after calling in a order of 4 specials and a side cup of their sandwich sauce. The food was ready as soon as I got there. I added 6 bags of chips. I was carrying my sleeping younger son, the pretty girl behind the counter took it upon herself to pack up the chips for me as well since my hands were full. I get home and notice they'd accidentally sent me a cup of marinara instead of sandwich sauce. I called up to let them know. I am not kidding you the Owner of Amighettis shows up at my house a little later with the correct sauce. Unreal. You do not find that kind of customer service everyday. Everyone makes mistakes. I have been here a few times and each time they are consistent. I normally get the Amighetti's special which is a classic. This location has completely revamped their menu! I was so pleased to find so many fresh and healthy vegetarian options at this restaurant. My boyfriend is a carnivore so it isn't always easy to agree on a place to eat, however Amighetti's suited us both! I highly recommend checking out their new menu, lots of yummy options.
