My all-time favorite is the pineapple fried rice. Delicious explosion of flavors and textures.

Amina Thai is a small, cozy place to enjoy a light meal. They have these chairs that look soft and comfy (looks like cushion), but it isn't soft at all. The thai tea is a must. It is soooo good! One of the better thai tea compared to other Thai places I've tried in the area. The ratio of tea and milk/cream was just right, and it wasn't too sweet. I was rather sad after I finished mine. I can't speak for the lunch special, but if I'm not working during lunch special hours, I'd love to try it because it is a dish plus a spring roll for ~$10 before taxes. I've had dinner here a couple times, and most dishes range from ~$12 - ~$25. I thought the high prices mean larger portions, but the portions weren't that big. My significant other and I had 2 appetizers (spring rolls for $6 and satay for $9), 3 dishes (pad Thai, ka prow, and yellow curry, each around $13-$15) one time and we finished all of it and ate a bunch of ice cream when we got home (our kids were there too, but they didn't help us much with the food). Though to their defense, I had a small lunch that day so I was very hungry. The spring rolls come in sets of 4. It has carrot shreds and dipping sauce on the side. Tasty, but a bit expensive. The satay was lightly curried, but it does stain easily. I was shocked by how much yellow curry was on my napkin when I wiped my mouth. It came with a peanut sauce, toast, and veggies. It was just okay, and the $9 did not justify it. Their crispy fish comes in a various of styles, depending on which sauce you want. It soaks in the sauce, so it doesn't really stay crispy. Very pricey for how much it is too. Their pad Thai is generic- you choose a protein and there's the noodles, bean sprouts, and peanuts. Ours noodles for stuck together a lot, and sometimes clumps of noodles bother people, but it just made is finish the dish even faster. The flavors were of typical pad Thai, nothing standing out. I expected a bit more food for $13. I've tried some of their curries- red, panang, and yellow. Their curries are quite bland looking and small portioned, but the flavor is there. It's all very liquidy, so I liked spooning it out and placing a bit of rice to it to taste the flavor. The yellow curry had potatoes, pineapple, onions, peppers inside. The other curries don't really have much in there, maybe one other veggie and the protein. It looked soooo plain, but at least it tasted decent. The chicken ka prow was good. Although I'm not a fan of onions, it does contain a few types of onion. My SO loves onion, so at least there's that. It also had basil in it, and it went very well with the chicken. If you request it to be extra spicy, they'll all more of those red pepper flake thingys that look harmless, but the kick is definitely there. Yum! Service is usually good. They'll fill your water and food doesn't require too much of a wait. I do want more of their thai tea though... read more

Great place! I ordered their green curry for lunch, and was very satisfied- it was some of the best green curry I've had in a while. The staff was nice- they had me order at the front door due to COVID, but they were quick, efficient, and pleasant. The order was ready in 12 minutes, and was worth the higher prices they charge. Their green curry was creamy, just the right amount of spice, flavorful, and the steamed rice was very complimentary to it. I'm eager to try some of their other dishes when I'm in the area! Ordered to go. Pad See Ew was terrible. Bottom of container was filled with grease. Broccoli florets, not Chinese broccoli, of which there were maybe 4 pieces. Online ordering system made you pick a spice level, I chose medium, figuring this dish isn't supposed to be spicy, but what I got was covered in chili oil. Finally we have found the Thai restaurant we were looking for here in Rockville. We've tried a few but Amina Thai comes out on top when it comes to flavor. Yellow Curry was so delicious. My husband had the Pad Thai and he could not say enough good things about it. We're so happy that the generous portions will allow us to have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I have been coming here on and off for the past few years. The owner is super nice and friendly. I have only been to the one in rockville and this location is a good size. Their tom yum soup was pretty good nothing extraordinary. I always get their chicken Pad Thai. My favorite thing about this place is that they tend to give a lot of food and it tastes really good. I would also recommend getting their Thai tea. I have also tried their drunken noodles before and I enjoyed it, but I always come back to my chicken Pad Thai. Good service and good food. My only complaint is that the parking in the area is hard to find. read more

As with most cuisines that aren't American, I'm not an expert. But I do know good when I eat it and this place definitely fits the bill. I haven't gotten into experimenting with the various menu items, if I find something I like, I tend to order that every time I visit. Since it isn't a weekly thing, no issues, right? For me, the spicy chicken Kaprow is excellent. Tender white meat chicken, sliced onions, sliced green and red bell peppers, kale or spinach in a light but spicy broth. I saw bits of crushed red peppers in it. It was served with jasmine rice on the side, and it is just big enough to be filling without the usual food coma that ensues after overindulging at the table. My colleagues ordered Pad Thai with chicken, another ordered the pineapple fried rice w/chicken, and two others ordered the same Kaprow dish as I did. Everyone seemed pleased with their meals...this is the second foray; the first time we ate in the restaurant and I was initially off-put by the smell of freshly ground curry- but it grows on you. This time we took it to go due to a meeting- just as good in as carryout. We'll be back. read more

Very disappointed. The worst beef pad kee mao I have ever had. It was extremely oily. There was about a table spoon of oil left on the dish. The beef was the worst cut of beef I have ever eaten. It was dry and trashy. We also ordered shrimp fried rices $18.00 which had only about 4 shrimps. The pad thai was just ok. I had mixed emotions about the service. The owner husband was very nice. However, the wife didnt have the best personality. She should not interact with customers. Also, it seems like they have increased their prices. Don't think I will be back. read more

I came here on a Wednesday night with a friend, the parking lot is TINY... luckily we came on a weekday, I can't imagine how packed this place can get during the weekend. My friend and I were craving Thai food so we did a quick search on Yelp and came across this spot. The food is a little pricey, but in my opinion, worth it! Between my friend and I we ordered the following. - Thai Ice Tea - Good, really hard to mess this up :P - Spring Rolls - These come with sauteed cabbage and carrots wrapped in egg roll skins served with sweet and sour sauce. The Spring Rolls were average, they were perfectly fried... but lacked flavor in my opinion. - Fried Rice Jae - This comes with thai fried rice with egg, tofu and mixed vegetables. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful this dish was :) - Green Curry with Chicken - This comes with your choice of chicken, beef or tofu, green curry and coconut milk with bamboo shoots, eggplant and basil leaves. This has to be one of the top three green curry dishes I have ever had (I know what I like and I like to order green curry at any new Thai restaurant I visit). The chicken and bamboo shoots were both cooked perfectly,the dish comes loaded with chicken. and the curry was creamy and flavorful. The rice served with this dish was proportionate. - Fresh Sweet Mango with Sweet Sticky Rice - A delicious end to satisfy our sweet tooth and end our meal. The mango versus rice ratio was disproportionate... if this dish came with a little bit more sweet sticky rice then it would be perfect. I love the fact that their menu has a lil vegetarian section, my bestie is a vegetarian so I always appreciate restaurants that can accommodate both our tastes. The majority of the menu items offer tofu as a substitute for meat. The staff were really sweet, they checked on us constantly and our drinks and food came out to us quickly. The restaurant is relatively small, the decor is a little dated... but it just adds to the charm of this spot. Driving around looking for lunch; pulled into several places but it never felt right. So the search continues until I noticed Amina Thai and decided to give this place a try. The place is a cozy mom's & pop's restaurant with friendly staffs who greets you and tends to your every needs. I ordered Beef Drunken Noodles... WOW! Probably the best Drunken Noodles I've ever had. The noodles are soft but not soggy, firm but not dry, the beef was tender and delicious! The veggies are fresh. The combination of it all along with the sauce and just right spice level created a taste sensation that will satisfy your craving and validate your decision to chose Amina Thai. I'm glad I did. Came here for lunch and was pretty impressed! It's a small, very clean establishment with a few tables and friendly service. It has the general array of Thai food, done well. I had ordered the drunken noodles, and I was not disappointed. There was a good balance of flavor with the Thai basil and the spice, and I greatly enjoyed it. Went here with some coworkers for dinner. Wasn't to busy and they sat us right away. Got a variety of things but I had the green curry. It was good but wasn't anything to amazing. The spicy level was low in my subjective opinion but they had a spicy trey to help with that. We also had the tofu for apps and man that was actually delicious! Not dry and good texture, enjoyed that with the side sauce. Dessert was yummy with a pastry with banana inside and chocolate on top. Maybe it was an off day, but the service was not all that great and I was not a fan of the Pad Thai Jae. There was one super friendly person who greeted me, but when I had a question, a random server came around and seemed bothered by my inquiry. I've had the main dish at other Thai restaurants, but at this restaurant, I believe they added way too much fish sauce. It was overpowering and unpleasant. I also asked for no tofu, which still turned up in the dish. The spring rolls; cant go wrong with those since they're the standard spring roll served in many restaurants. Their sweet and sour sauce was clear (no chili flakes or reddish tint), which was different for me but still went well with the rolls. The Thai tea was good. I'm not sure if I'd come back to try a more popular dish, even with the great reviews. read more

We've been eating Thai food for almost 40 years - (yes, 40) and Amina Thai is about the best Thai restaurant in the Rockville/Silver Spring/Bethesda area. The owner goes out of her way (with sincere honesty & kind generosity) to accommodate ANY special requests - we had several. Finally, a Thai restaurant that understands very spicy. Our hope is that soon, they will offer Papaya salad and plant-based protein options as we're vegetarians. It's been a while since I are here regularly when I worked in Rockville. Went back recently and was glad the service and quality of food was still excellent. The restaurant is small and can get crowded at times. But I haven't found a better place to get Thai food in my opinion. The Gai Kua I had the last time was a perfectly cooked dish that offered a lot of flavor without being too oily. They are worth the wait. Crispy, hot, favorfull...They are "ok" warm. Fact they are really good warm if you have never had them right when they come out of the fryer. The two servers never broke a smile, asked how I was doing, no water refills- they clearly hated their job and it couldn't have been more obvious. I got my Tom Yum tofu and Pad See Ew in less that 5 minutes. I walked home and at first sight the noodle dish looked great. I started eating and all I could taste was oil and chili pepper. The soup was a watery seasoned lemongrass and oil broth with a lot of tofu, but minimal flavor. For the amount I paid, almost $17, I had higher expectations. Ordered the beef drunken noodle to-go. They made it pretty quick in 15 minutes. For around $15, the portion size was decent amount. As for the taste, it tastes generic. It was spicy but the sweet onions and sour small tomato complements the spicy so it's not too spicy. Only down side, I think was that it was on a bit of the oily side. A small, cute and quaint Thai shop in Rockville that strays a little off from the pike. My usual go-to Thai restaurant in Rockville is The Thai Cuisine but it's closed on Tuesdays. I quickly yelped other Thai restaurants in the area (since I'm not a fan of chains nearby such as Tara Thai and Thai Pavilion) and found myself here. It does not disappoint your Thai food craving!
