Outstanding food and service with the beet hummus and chicken kabob with slaw being particular standouts. I loved the beef shawarma and pita too. Service was friendly, paced well; we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The wine list was thoughtful, reasonably priced. The Lebanese rose we had (pictured) was fantastic. Restaurant was busy but not overly loud, my friends loved this afternoon and stayed after I left to go back to the trade show. Bookmarked this place for so long and I'm glad we were nearby to try it! Came here on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment and waited 20-30 minutes. We were seated by the restroom which was sort of disappointing since there were so many bugs by the windows. However, the lighting was great. We ended up ordering the Grilled Kebab plate and the Shawarma plate. The Grilled Kebab is a bit pricier than the Shawarma, but the meat were more tender and juicier. As for the Shawarma, it was flavorful but a bit too dry to my liking. So, if you're deciding between the two, I would choose the Grilled Kebab plate. The hummus and the side dishes were great. It does not come with a side of pita bread but if you have hummus, pita bread is a must. Though I do not agree with the additional payment, it was worth ordering because of how fluffy and warm they were. Would I be back? Depends. Though it perfect for date night, I do wish the portion could've been better. An example of this is providing pita bread with our hummus and giving a bit more rice rather than a thin spread of rice. read more

Incredible first impression! I loved the interior design of the restaurant - the seated waiting area, the bar, even the dessert display. Parking is really easy as there's a garage next door (I believe the first two hours are free). I came on a Saturday for brunch and it was pretty busy but made reservations beforehand so getting a table wasn't so bad. Service overall was good but I did find that there was a lag in being seated (despite having the reservation), plus our sever seemed preoccupied most of the time. Other that, the food was the best.. and that's all that matters ;) Fattoush Salad - Loved the crunchy pita chips, all flavors were balanced, perfect amount of parsley Fried Kibbeh - Light, savory taste, great texture and the dipping sauce was a nice contrast to the ground meat. She started the night with an introduction to the chef/restaurant's background and gave us a succinct yet descriptive overview of the best items on the menu. I am of Palestinian descent and this food is as good as anything as I have had back home. Whenever I'm feeling homesick this is where I go. The food is delicious and portion sizes are generous. My best friend and I came to Ammatoli for lunch after making a quick split decision. We have zero regrets! We were promptly greeted and seated upon arrival. Our waitress, Anja, was friendly, personable, and frankly, hilarious! We ordered the spicy lemon garlic chicken plate (pictured) and gyro plate with fresh, warm pita bread. Both came with two sides each: spicy and regular hummus, mutabbal, and french fries! Our drink orders were promptly taken and since it was ourbfiest time here, the menu items were explained in detail. The most intense flavors in Long Beach. This place is incredible. And the bucolic setting is so gorgeous and relaxing. The pita is fresh from the oven. The muhammara is piquant and ample. The lemon garlic chicken is uniquely and powerfully flavored and falls off the bone. Lovely wine list with hard to find Lebanese wines, eg, Ksara. To top it off, the service is top notch. We will not be back. I've had much better Mediterranean food at much lower points with much larger portion sizes. Our first warning happened right as we showed up for dinner. Another group was leaving the restaurant, shaking their heads and laughing to themselves. One of them turned and said loudly to the rest of the group, "Hey, X is the one who picked the restaurant, not me!" We should've taken that as a sign from God to leave right then and there. Portions here were small (not shareable as they claimed), and overall the dishes were decent but incredibly overpriced for what you get. The chicken shawarma was the least favorite of the group, as it was quite dry. The lamb chops were tasty enough, but I've never seen such puny lamb chops in my life. The lemon garlic chicken, which was our waitress's top recommendation, was also a little dry. The only thing that impressed me was the beet hummus that came in a pretty shade of pink and was something I'd never had before. But that hummus didn't even come with pita bread - you had to order that separately at $12 for just three small pieces. We didn't have a reservation, so we were seated outside, which means that I am largely judging the experience on the quality of food alone. We did take a peek inside, and I will say the interior is stunning. Perhaps that is what largely contributes to the high ratings...because the food itself is not giving. We had to stop at Long Beach Creamery on the way home to console ourselves after that disappointing and overly expensive dinner. Long Beach local giving five stars for the great service at the bar from Francis and the food which was excellent. I was with a Lebanese friend who gave it a big thumbs up. Only negative comment was that the hostess (who was training a new staff member ) was incredibly rude and pompous. We were absolutely NOT made to feel welcome and, if Francis and the food weren't so great, we would not return because of her attitude.
