100% recommend this cozy little restaurant in the downtown area of Clairmont. The food is excellent. A little different from most Mexican places since it is from the Yucatan Penninsula (Cancum area). As it was my first time at this place, I made my self a cheap sampler. 1 Taco Gobernador (Shrimp with grilled cheese), 1 Cochinita Pibil taco (like shreded stew pork with seasoned red onions on top), and later added 1 Carnitas taco (Carnitas were not chopped, but little juicy tasty chuncks). All three tacos were amazing. From posted pictures in other reviews one can tell the place is family owned, clean, expect to be served on porcelain or ceramic plate, and metal utensils. We were disappointed with the overall experience. Customer service was not very welcoming. Our main waitress did not seem warm or friendly and never smiled during our visit. It also felt like the waitresses spent a lot of time chatting amongst themselves and on their phones instead of being attentive to guests. The one positive was the waitress who brought our food and later checked on us, she was pleasant and courteous. As for the food, it did not live up to the price point. The mole was decent but nothing special, and the portion size was smaller than what is shown in their photos. The tortillas were cheap which took away from the overall quality. The carne asada tacos were extremely greasy and had a lot of beef fat, making them difficult to enjoy. The most uncomfortable part of the visit was that I was there with my daughter and her friend, and there was a young reddish haired girl, not sure if she was related to the owner or an employee, who repeatedly walked by and gave my girls unfriendly looks. At one point she even sat in the back of the restaurant facing them and continued giving dirty looks for an extended period of time. My daughter brought it to my attention, and I personally observed it as well. It created a very uncomfortable and unprofessional atmosphere and took away from what should have been an enjoyable outing. Overall, the experience did not match the expectations based on the pricing and reviews. I hope the restaurant improves both the level of service and professionalism moving forward. read more

Tried Amores for the first time. Really cute spot! It's small inside but gives it that homey feel. Ordered their breakfast burrito with chorizo. It was really good, super flavorful. The only issue was the service. I know this place is relatively new so it's understandable. There was only one person taking orders while tending to customers at tables. Ordering took a bit but then the wait to get the food was also long, especially for just one burrito. If their service can get better, I think this place has great prices and tasty food. read more

It's so beautiful with a lovely floral decorum. Light blue accents and flowers on the tables. The prettiest Mexican restaurant that I've had the pleasure to dine in. It's immaculate, Sunny and Bright. Viviana spoiled me with a complimentary fresh guava juice with sprigs of lavender. Next she let me try the most delicious tacos on the house ! I went with my brother last Sunday around 9:00 A.M. and had an excellent experience. Very friendly employees and great hospitality. I ordered the breakfast burrito(chorizo) and my brother ordered huevos rancheros. Both were excellent, simple, and executed perfectly. The breakfast burrito was the best breakfast burrito I've had in Claremont in years. Huevos rancheros were top tier as well, perfectly cooked eggs and the veggies had so much flavor! Boy, we should have read the reviews first before giving this place a chance. After our experience, and then reading the reviews, clearly the positive ones are either friends, employees, or paid for. We walked in, several open tables, about three full, and we were immediately seated. Server brought water. All occupied tables had food already except one, which was delivered to their table right after we got our water. Then we sat, and sat, and sat. No new customers came in after we were seated. Between 15-20 minutes passed with no one taking our order. Two servers just kept walking back and forth past our table. We even made it obvious we were clearly ready to order. Nope. Still nothing. Then looked around and noticed we were the only white people in the restaurant. Kinda hard not to get the feeling they weren't interested in serving us; could be wrong but that was the impression. We got up to leave and a server asked us if everything was ok. We said that it was taking way too long, citing that we had been there for nearly 20 minutes. Server simply said "oh" as we walked out. Oh well, just another let down in the Village to go along with the usual mediocre restaurants, lack of parking and having to navigate past dirty ,drug using transients, oops. That wasn't PC. Those of whom do not have housing because they have chosen dope over being a productive citizen. lol. read more

Stopped in for Chilaquiles this morning. On the positive side, the Chilaquiles (green with two fried eggs) was excellent. On the negative side, it only occupied 1/3 of my plate.
