A coworker and I stopped in for a beer based on the unique and interesting name while we were exploring West Seattle. We ordered a couple of draft beers and sat out front. They have several on draft and many more bottle options. The place is small but cozy and the view is fantastic. Their coffee is all Hawaiian, and beats anything the big "S" offers down the street. Cool little space, too.

Alki beach is a haven for knuckle draggers and malcontents (such as myself), and I've discovered Ampersand to be a welcome retreat. Daryl and Marissa, the owners of Ampersand, are exceptional food hounds. They make their own bread and pastries, granola and pesto, and cure their own meats. Their sandwiches are excellent (my favorite being the ham and brie). A highlight of the cafe is its huge selection of bottled beers and ciders (by my count, at least thirty varieties). In addition, their selection of draft beer and cider, while small, is well selected and tasty. The view is extraordinary, and their hours long. Highly recommended! read more

We were reluctant to go here after longtime locals told us about how the current owner forced out the original coffee shop and basically just put the same type of business in its location, hoping nobody would notice. It seems that nobody noticed or cared about this. We had a friend visiting from Bellingham and she wanted to go here so we took her despite what we knew. The lady working the bar was friendly enough and served a decent cup of java. While we were getting our drinks, a lady let her dog hump our friends wheelchair outside and did nothing but basically laugh it off. It was embarrassing for our friend and she noticed that other customers found it funny as well, even when they saw it was upsetting to her. The lady and man who owned the dog did nothing to stop it. I guess these are the locals who still go here despite knowing the Trumpian owner. Maybe a real indie coffee shop can open up on Alki, until that happens, Top Pot and Tully's will have to do. read more

Not a bad place. The coffee is great. I enjoyed the Salami sandwich. They also have butterscotch root beer in the bottle which is hard to come by. Decor is rather dull, but it's made up by the huge open windows that overlook the Sound. read more

I like this non-hipster coffeeshop but it's a little cramped in the winter, without use of the outside patio and their wifi was really slow when I tried to connect (but it could have been a problem with my computer). Overall I enjoy coming here and their lattes and cappucinos are tasty. read more

The coffee and sandwiches here are great! I love to get the Cuban or mozzarella/salami/basil sandwich when I want to grab a bite to eat. You can easily share one of their sandwiches between two people. I highly recommend trying their chai tea latte also! You can definitely tell it's made from fresh ingredients and not from a mass made chai tea concentrate. Judging by the reviews of this place, I had high expectations walking in. I am truly appalled by fact that they are even operational at this point. The cashier who took our order this morning was dismissive and rushed us. I ordered a coco cold brew, which wasn't terrible. It lacked the bolder cold brew flavor that I'm accustomed to. I expect more from an establishment that prides itself on its "Hawaiian coffee." The food was by far the biggest disappointment. My girlfriend and I ordered two breakfast sandwiches, I the ham and cheese, she the fritatta. The sandwiches themselves were far smaller than anyone would expect. The "baguette" was a depressing gray color that tasted overworked and stale. The egg portion was a gelatinous, premade circle with zero seasoning. It tasted as if it had been microwaved right before landing on our plates. Since I couldn't stomach the egg, I took it off and was left with a basic ham and cheese sandwich that tasted far worse than one I could have made at home. We both left feeling hungry and uncomfortable. The staff came off like the didn't want to be there, and now I understand why. The view is not worth it. read more

If you are making coffee at a high traffic, touristy place, especially in Seattle, you should probably learn how to properly do that. I was drawn in my the sign that says "Hawaiian coffee".. So I went in and asked if they had Kona coffee. The girl replies, "ummm, we have coffee from Hawaii", lol. Okaaaay. I ordered an iced Americano and caught the Batista pouring a very small ramekin (why?) of espresso into a grande cup of ICE WATER. oh dear. Then she handed it over to me. Trying not to look appauled, I asked her how many shots that was and she said two. She said they always put two shots in all their drinks. I added my splash of cream and tasted it, and it was really watery (duh). I felt awkward and didn't want to be mean by training on her how to properly make an iced Americano, so I ordered another shot and asked her to add that in. She did so, charging another .66, adding to my already too expensive drink. I tried it, still tasted watery and made my way down alki pretty annoyed. Terrible shame to waste what could maybe, just maybe be good coffee:( read more

Well we came here because it had 4 stars, but for coffee I would give this place 2 stars. We asked for our coffee for here, and they still put it in to go cups. Even though clearly they had real cups. Our cappuccino was unimpressive. I rated 3 stars because they have a nice out door seating area with a beautiful view and coffee was still better then mainstream nation wide coffee shops. They also have good beer on tap and you can fill growlers for $8. Better to come for an afternoon beer then a morning coffee. read more

Great coffee, baristas are always friendly, the Hawaiian breakfast Sammie is my favorite thing ever. They are even nice to my dog. My only complaint is that they are sometimes closed when I would like them to be open. Like the whole week of Christmas. But, good for them! Stopped in for a snack with my mom. Asked for the ham and cheese baguette. It Took a bit long, but no big deal really. It was REALLY small but also decided that wasn't a big deal either. Since I was sharing with my mom I brought it back to ask her to cut it in half (there was no plasticware to take care of it myself). I was taken back by the Barista's reluctance to acknowledge me standing there. No smile, no "how can I help you". When she finally looked at me, I politely asked if she could cut it in half really quick. In her defense she had just taken an order from another guest but hadn't started working on it yet. I thought she would just cut the thing real quick so we could get on to eating it while it was still hot. She told me to hold on and started working on the other guest, left me standing there awkawrdly. It wasn't busy. I'm sure the other guest would've been ok with her helping me really quick. I just walked away. I probably would've let it go if she were friendlier. Too bad I had already given her a tip. read more
