Cool spot to unwind after a beach day. They have some good beers on tap and they have some decent food. I got the egg biscuit and it was a really solid biscuit for $5. Love this place! I'd give it 5 stars but there is one particular employee that can either be extremely friendly or extremely rude (possibly hungover). The coffee is delicious- many options and from Hawaii too, so you know it's good. The bagels are so flavorful and I've loved everything i've had thus far. My favorite spot to grab a beer in Alki. They serve draft beer in tradition German beer mugs, and they have a chill patio where you can people watch and enjoy the view. They also have coffee and a few snacks. Only downside is that it's not a bar, so every once in a while you get tourist families- which sometimes translates into obnoxious kids, or tired kids throwing tantrums. Bring a few friends and you won't even notice. Next door is a good backup, a traditional bar with plenty of patio seating and plastic cups (boo). read more

Awesome place to get a cup of coffee. Biscuts are tasty. Sometimes it's annoying when it gets busy because depending on what time of day, there's only one to two people. I wish they multitasked better. Like, maybe ring a few people at a time, and then do the drinks instead of one customer at a time, or at least, note the times of a rush and then staff accordingly. Taking a staycation at a friend's house overlooking Alki this weekend, and Ampersand is the closest coffee shop. With blues music playing gently in the background and a sunny spot in the corner looking out at the beach, hot coffee in hand and a decent fritatta sandwich, I'm feeling good about this Sunday. The coffee is from Hawaii. Mine doesn't taste as strong as I like, but it's ok for now. Despite being on the Alki strip, it's nice and calm in here right now. Beach living is sweet. read more

I am a fan and have stopped here several times as I live down the street. Pros: Friendly staff, good food, good coffee, great beer selection, beautiful Alki views, outdoor seating. Cons: Lacking ambiance/decor inside. Why not feature local artists? Would love to see some art on the walls, warm up the place a bit. Great cafe in prime location on Alki! Dog and kid friendly patio with delicious rotating beer and wine selections. A little on the pricey side but worth it for the beer and atmosphere. Added bonus is that they occasionally play Hawaiian music so it feels like a little getaway! read more

The food here is great and the view is not bad either ;) Try the brie sandwich on their homemade baguette. They also have a nice selection of beer and they will sell you one to go! One of my favorite quick eats on the strip and supporting smaller businesses like this one is a good thing. read more

Came here recently for what I thought would be a quick and pleasant breakfast. Took forever to order, then even more forever to receive food, then another forever to get our drinks (Italian soda and a plain coffee... the staff were too busy on their phones to realize this was the easiest order ever that could have been made quickly and should have come out first). While ordering the Italian soda, I was asked if I wanted whipped cream - hard no. Then ages later when said Italian soda arrived, it was sparkling water, flavoring, and some opaque liquid mixed in - some sorta milk or cream...? Not an Italian soda. My drink was remade, but shouldn't have been that way in the first place. "French soda" has cream (barf, but I guess some people like it?) and Italian soda is sparkling water + syrup. Update your menu or serve the right ingredients. What I did receive on round 2 as the lavender syrup was NOT tasty - felt like I was drinking old lady potpourri, and not the delightful syrups I've had all over the Seattle area. Servers were not friendly - shoved the food in the window with nasty grimaces, so sorry to interrupt your super chill gal pal vape sesh. Food was fine, nothing special. If I return I'll be very selective about my order, and nobody's gonna get a 20% tip for that sort of wait again. If the servers seemed genuinely interested in serving breakfast I wouldn't have bothered leaving a review. But messed up, super slow orders with a bad attitude, while you're clearly fooling around inside of a kitchen that is all windows - no thanks. read more

No complaints! This Espresso shop is AWESOME! The baristas are friendly and attentive. Whatever drink strikes your fancy, the results are complete perfection. Although, it is 3-4blocks further down the street, it's worth the extra steps in going here for the sweet, creamy, rich and silky smooth LATTÉ or mocha that is hand made. There's a few good quality beers, some sandwiches for breakfast and lunch, pastries, canned sodas, etc. They're doing just enough, but not TOO much. This place may get busy, but YOUR willingness to wait is worth the last drop! The locals bombard this place and get to know you. Always remember, the locals know where to go!!!!! A friend and I stopped in after a chilly walk along Alki Beach and wanted something to warm us up. SO GLAD WE DID! We each ordered the Golden Chai - it was so mind blowing I didn't need to order anything else here to leave them a 5 star review. I am obsessed with spicy chai and don't like them too sugary, and this was the perfect blend of heat and sweet, and it was served at just the right temperature. The cayenne pepper gave it an extra *SPICY* kick, and loved that they make it with almond milk too. I live in Bellevue and I would definitely come back for another. Friend gives it 2 thumbs up as well.. we can't stop talking about it. read more

Stopped in here for a small breakfast while visiting the area for a wedding. I don't drink coffee, but their hot chocolate was really good. Their food options are a little limited, but they're doing a fine job either way. I got a slice of pound cake or something, and it was a little dry, but OK overall. Great place to sit outside with a book pretending to read while you are actually people-watching. Decent beer selection. Halfway decent coffee. My choice on Alki if I want some sunshine and a place where I feel comfortable taking up a chair for 5 hours. But whoever is in charge here needs to get it together. Sometimes they'll make me an iced green tea, sometimes they won't. Sometimes they'll be rude about it. Sometimes there's 1 person working on a sunny afternoon, leading to a 15-minute line. Sometimes your sandwich will come out in 5 minutes, sometimes it will take 20. And there's one particular barista who needs to think about getting a non-customer-service oriented job, if she hates people so much. Also, either my boyfriend or I ALWAYS hit our heads on the tilt-up windows. Our own faults, I know, so not factoring that into the rating, but damn I wish they would open those all the way and secure them. read more

I went early on a Saturday morning in Sept. The was only one person in line ahead of me to order. I placed my order for coffee and the girl said it would be just a min. I looked over and their were almost 10 cups awaiting being filled. I walked outside and came back 10 min later. There were still 5 cups in front of mine to be filled. After 15 min I had to go. Did not even try to get money back since there were now 4 more people in line. Very bad customer service experience. read more

As an Alki Beach resident, I take pride in supporting the many local, awesome businesses that are all in walking distance to my apartment. About a month ago I realized I had never been to Ampersand and immediately wondered why? I walk by it all the time and have always wanted to check it out. I guess I just hadn't found the time to do so. Shame on me! I've been missing out this whole time! For starters, they make awesome espresso drinks. And for a cafe that's pretty darn important. Their foam is perfectly velvety and their espresso is rich in flavor and incredibly robust. If you're looking for a more adult beverage, they have a great selection of beer. Since my first visit I've dropped in for one of their delicious pastries, and I cannot recommend their biscuits and biscuit sandwiches enough. This place is great! I live close by so it's my go to pit stop on the way to the bus for fresh made cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches (Frittata breakie is the best!) and soup. The owners are amazing ( They used to own Slices next store) I miss their pizza but they make great sandwiches with home made bread and fresh ingredients! This is my neighborhood coffee house and my absolute favorite place to hang out with a good cup of joe. The coffee is always amazing, Hawaiian roast really takes the cake for me. They have a very nice custom roast from Seven Coffee Roasters out of Ballard. I believe they use the Hapuna blend for the espresso & have a few others they rotate for drip coffee. I haven't tried any of the food, but the menu looks appealing. read more

I live in West Seattle and have been here maybe a dozen times, mostly when I want a coffee if I'm at Alki Beach. I only get my coffee here because I don't really want to spend my money at Starbucks. Otherwise there's not much to recommend. The coffee is sub par, the baristas I've encountered make it seem like customers are inconveniencing them by ordering coffee. It's super small and a bit run down. Maybe that's part of the "funky" beach vibe that people find charming. read more
