A Great Dining Expereience! This is a great restaurant, and a welcome addition to Derry, especially as there are so few Greek restaurants in the area. My wife and I really like the food. What a gem! Exactly what Derry needs! I called for takeout and from the moment Amphora answered the phone until the minute I stepped foot out the door after picking up my order, the staff was super friendly and very knowledgable about all this restaurant had to offer. The girls had great recommendations about the entrees and desserts and even the beverage (sweet green tea - so good!) I had chosen. Which by the way, the Meze Sampler is to die for, I could eat the Pita bread all by itself never mind the tasty dips. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and wish the owners and staff the absolute best in our town. I'll be back in for sure! read more

Most amazing restaurant! The service was great! Our waitress was very helpful when it came to choosing our appetizer and entrees because we had never been before. THE PITA BREAD IS AMAZING. We ordered a hot skillet cheese dip for the pita bread and it was by far the best dip we have ever ordered at a restaurant! One of the best greek meals I have ever had. The steak and lamb were cooked perfectly, very well seasoned and juicy! Great atmosphere and service. We will ABSOLUTELY be getting food from here again... like every week! AMAZING. read more

Delicious food, the flavors in the simplest foods are perfectly balanced. A little on the pricey side if you're looking for a full entree but with their menu you don't need to worry as they have plenty of good eats for great prices. Meats are tender and juicy, side items are fresh and well portioned. Customer Service was beyond expectation as with a mistake on a take out order (they don't deliver) that was found was corrected not with, "oh I'm sorry," but with an immediate offer to drive up the missing item with a complimentary dessert. I am a huge fan/regular at amphora. Their food is always amazing my husband and I have never had a bad meal from there. The best part is that everything is freshly made with no preservatives! What I also love about this restaurant is the service. Every waitress we have ever had is extremely friendly. A recent experience with them actually made me write this review and realize what an even greater restaurant they truly are. They even gave my husband and I the wrong meals when we ordered takeout (which sometimes can happen) and we realized it once we got all the way home (which is about 20 min away) and the owner went out of his way to deliver us the right meal with a free dessert on him, you can't get better service than that! This is by far one of my favorite restaurants- try the veggie wrap with fried eggplant! ;) read more

Order the saganaki. It'll be enough to get you going back for more! I love Greek food and have a seriously high bar when it comes to the stuff. Amphora totally meets my expectations. Walking in, it looks like a nothing of a deli, but their food is seasoned perfectly and the portions are spot on. I loved my vegetarian pita sandwich. We went back twice in the same week while we were in the process of moving and had no stove. The servers were kind and helpful while ordering. This is a seriously great find in Derry. read more

Flavorful and consistent food. Steak tips seem to trend towards overcooked. Generous portions. Staff makes a good effort at providing pleasant service. Kitchen has demonstrated a trend of running slow which is concerning. With limited choices in the area it is a safe selection. read more

BEST KEPT SECRET IN DERRY!!!! When I moved to Derry in late 2014 I was already relatively familiar with the area. I had never been to Amphora but a good friend recommended it (a Derry native). My fiance and I tried it and it was AMAZING!! The restaurant itself is unassuming....it's in a strip mall, not a big place but oh my goodness is the food to die for!! Authentic and delicious; when we had my soon-to-be sister in law up from CT we immediately thought to bring her here and she also loved it. Prices are reasonable and portions are great to have your meal and get some leftovers. I brought some other friends of mine here for lunch and they kept asking me when we can go back!!! If you like family run businesses and great food this is a MUST try!!! read more

The service was good, the food, mousaka was not so great, meat was grisley, no potato and bland flavor. Lamb souvlaki was good, fish filo was ok, salad was overpowered by onions and salt. May be better for a lunch time meal. read more

Was in the mood for delicious Greek food, and turned to Yelp for advice. I am so glad I did. It was between this restaurant and another, and my friend and I decided to try out Amphora. Don't be fooled by where this restaurant is located. It's in a little strip mall, but location aside, this place is phenomenal. To start, my friend and I tried the Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and also the fried Feta. Both were unbelievably amazing. I would come back simply for the fried Feta alone. It was so delicious. Before our entrees came out, our salads came out. They came with a soft seasoned homemade pita on top, and drizzled with homemade dressing that was phenomenal. I was actually sad when I was done eating, because it was that good. I hear they actually sell their salad dressing but I forgot to look into that while I was there. Next up was our entrees. We both got the combo plate, with lamb and steak kebobs over rice pilaf with a tzatziki sauce. Because I was so full from eating everything else I could not finish my plate but everything was cooked to perfection and was absolutely divine. I had it boxed up and ended up eating it the following day. I did take home dessert, because it sounded so good. They had baklava cheesecake for a special. I am SO glad I decided to grab it to go, because it was probably the best dessert I have ever had. I would give this place a 10 out of 10, and will absolutely be back. The chef even comes out from time to time to ask people how they are liking the food. There is a great atmosphere, and our waitress was fantastic. All in all, a wonderful girls night out! read more

The Food at Amphora is excellent - just be aware that the salad has tiny olives with Pitts!. I broke a tooth on it and notified the gentleman in charge and did not seem to care nor did the waitress. Poor customer service that day. read more

I had never eaten Greek food before I went ot Amphora. It was delicious! The waitress told us what all the meals were and what they consisted of. Everyone was really nice and tol dme all about the resteraunt. The prices were fair for the food we recieved. I had a Greek salad an dit was delicious, but my fmaily had more authentic meals and they all lvoe it. We even took the extras home! read more

Three of us went for dinner last night and each of us sadly disappointed. Let me say that we are Greek and know what good Greek food is. This was my first time here but my co-diners had been before and had really enjoyed the food, that's why we were there. They use way too much peppery seasoning in the pastichio. I needed 3 glasses of water to take the burn out of my mouth. Someone ordered a "frappe" which came as ice coffee. THAT is NOT what "frappe" is. It is quite different from ice coffee. The lamb shish kebab was at first undercooked, almost raw and had to be sent back. In addition, they added things to the bill that we didin't order which would have doubled the bill. Ok, human error on that one, which was corrected. The owner, came and asked for feedback which we all gave, pretty much as I've stated here. He "appreciated the feedback", "good to know". That was it! I would never recomend this restaurant and certainly won't be back. I guess those who enjoy the food there probably don't know what good Greek food should taste like. :( read more

Amphora recently opened in Hood Commons and is the only truly Greek restaurant in the area. Lunch and dinner is served daily and takeout and catering are available. The dining area is small, with only 6-7 comfortable booths as well as a couple of high top tables across near the door. The atmosphere is casual and the interior is clean. We visited for dinner and were pleasantly surprised and the quality of the food as we are usually underwhelmed with 'ethnic' cuisine in other local establishments. The food here is very good. The owner/chef (Peter) has taken his family recipes and given them to his customers. We started with Dolomades (stuffed grape leaves) and Calamari Tempura and both were good. For entrees we orders Gyro, Thracian Chicken and Moussaka. The Moussaka was well spiced and was not heavy or greasy - it was wonderful. Our very picky 16 year old loved the Gyro - she is looking forward to trying a Gyro sandwich for lunch. I had the Thoracain Chicken and it was very good, it was a little on the salty side, but moist and tasty. The Gyro and Chicken came with a tasty yogurt dipping sauce and served with moist rice pilaf. For dessert we shared a Ouzo Cake which is served warm and dripping with honey - it was a great ending to a very good meal. We are looking forward to many more visits to try other menu choices. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner based on the online reviews we read. Having never been there the atmosphere was a bit unexpected. It is definitely more of a take out place then a fine dining restaurant. Regardless, the food was not good. Our Spanikopita appetizer was cold in the middle which lead me to believe it was previously frozen. The fried feta app tastes like canned feta, if that's even a thing, but you could also tell it was frozen and they just heated it up and made it look fancy. I got the Greek salad which was WAY over dressed and hardly had any feta cheese on it. They serve it with I think a pita bread, but my husband and I couldn't figure out what kind of bread it was because it was soggy and under-seasoned. He got the gyro dinner which was supposed to me lamb but it looked like pounded out steak flanks. He wasn't sure what kind of meat it was though. Needless to say we will not be returning to this establishment. They should probably just focus on take out and remove the dining experience. read more
