Mario and his staff are all genuine human beings! That is a trait that is so hard to find among those in the service industry. Most are out to make a quick buck and call it a day, then Rinse & repeat the next day. I don't get that vibe from ANYONE at Cafe Genovese. THE MOMENT any customer swings open the door they are greeted with a 'Hey guys' if not even addressed by name.... After all the logo on their uniform shirts states ' 'Cafe Genovese.... Where we don't forget your name!' The food is always made perfectly to your specifications! Not once have I EVER sent an order back because it wasn't right the first time. The menu lists extensive options for both breakfast and lunch... so you just can't go wrong! Give 'em a try! You're likely to become regulars just like I did!

While we were seated and others walked in the owner knew so many regulars by name. We felt welcomed. Perfect for breakfast & lunch, closed at 2pm. My scrambled eggs were fluffy and hash browns toasty crispy as asked . Was surprised they had everything bagels and not just plums like most places. This will become a regular place to go. No food pics, sorry forgot and I ate it all:))

Who does that?!? Someone who cares about the quality of their food and their customer. I noticed biscuits and gravy on the breakfast menu, and I am a snob and love biscuits and gravy, but I am pretty picky. They let me try their gravy, and let me tell you, it was delicious! Just peppery enough for a bit of a kick, with nice large pieces of sausage. I was drooling over my little taste of this. They make their own biscuits as well, so I will be back soon for this. Restaurant is in a strip mall of sorts, and doesn't "stand out", but inside it is cozy and quite cute. They have a case full of keto desserts that looked amazing! I will be back, and as they serve breakfast all day - no one says you have to eat biscuits and gravy in the morning - right?!

The staff were attentive, informative and proud of their offerings. I asked about what appeared to be Napoleon cake and they did indeed carry Napoleon cake. I'll try that on my next visit. That's not common here in the south. Inside is clean and quaint. I really nice place to have a coffee and dessert. My wife tried some low carb options. See Laura A in Jacksonville for more details. I had the carrot cake and the Snickers cheesecake. Both really solid. The carrot cake was moist and the icy really light. The cream cheese icing came through but was not overwhelming. The Snickers cheesecake had all that was best about both and when eaten, just melded into one delicious bite. Nothing too sweet, everything balanced really well. We'll be back to try more. I highly recommend you give Wicked Batter at try. Really good bakery/cafe.

From the moment we laid eyes on the pastry case, our jaws were on the floor. Everything we had was amazing -- the breakfast sandwich on sourdough, ham & cheese croissant, matcha cheesecake blueberry croissant tart, and the brie country ham & hot honey galette. JUST WOW! We also got some lattes to fuel our morning and I opted for their special brown butter sesame latte -- yum! The bakery itself is very cute with some market and pantry items available to shop as well. The staff was very patient as we asked a million questions about all the pastries before making our selections. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the downtown Jax area!

Yes to all the carbs in this bakehouse!…read more I was in town for a work event and we decided to grab a bite from here since Gabi recommended. It DID NOT disappoint. A cute little spot with a lot of specialized baked goods that will make you want to get one of everything. The service was super friendly and helpful. We ended up getting a few of the baked goods to share for breakfast and I got the matcha lemonade. The lemonade was a good change of pace from my usual matcha latte. To share, we got the matcha cheesecake blueberries danish, the brie country ham and hot honey galette, and a ham and cheese croissant. Everything was delicious and devoured! The inside is also super cute to peruse around and maybe grab something. They have stickers, and a few odds and ends that might interest anyone to get at least one thing. Such a cute bakehouse in Jax!

People were coming out quickly but no one was ever taken in. 45 minutes later our table was called only to find the table hadn't been cleaned or set. Enter server, who had never seen a smile before apparently. We got drinks taken but needed time to decide. That was the last time we saw her until I asked another server to finally order. We did order but the food was not good at all; swimming in grease. Getting a drink refill was near impossible with yet another different server having to do that. After the meal a fourth person had to bring boxes and a to go bag. Our original server, who did nothing, finally brought the check. I understand weekends are busy, however, there was ZERO interest in us or our patronage. Couple it with the blessing out the cook was getting from a "manager" in the kitchen I'll be giving this place a hard pass for a while. It definitely did not live up to my previous experience. As for ambiance I can honestly say there was none. If you want alcohol for breakfast it might be the right spot because all the service happened at the bar.
