Service was pretty quick but had a few hiccups as they switched our order with another party and the bahn mi took a little while as later we found out they said something exploded while making it Lol - seemed a little disorganized but not in a really bad way, I think they just maybe need a few more servers. The restaurant was pretty full. I liked the atmosphere, very bright and comfortable. I ordered a shrimp rice plate and I liked the flavor of the shrimp! I appreciate that the shell was peeled. I've tried a creative cocktail he felt would go well with my beef salad and he was spot on! They create and age their own bitters, have a nice variety of them and use them generously and appropriately in their drinks. We have been for lunch and dinner time, have seen them very busy yet the food is served promptly once you order. I like to get our drink order in first so there's a better chance of the tasty craft cocktail arriving before or with the first dishes. The rolls are good starters, we've enjoyed both the summer and the spring rolls. For salads, the beef salad has nice chunks of tender, properly cooked beef and comes in a 4 or 8 ounce portion. The banana blossom salad is unique and delicious, I love the slightly tart/sweet dressing that's a staple for most Vietnamese salads and also used as a dip for the summer rolls. We have enjoyed all the Pho we've tried as well as the spicy beef soup. I enjoy the sambal to add a little spice and my wife keeps mentioning the darker garlic chili oil that they were out of during our most recent visit. I think they bottle that one as I've seen it in two different sizes when we sat at the bar. Despite having multiple visits in a relatively short period, we've been slow to work our way through the entire menu as we keep ordering the same dishes with perhaps one new addition. Conveniently located near the Ward Theaters, An Di Dzo is a great place for an after movie meal. We were greeted seated pretty quickly when we got there a bit after 1pm. I ordered the Vietnamese Beef Stew and my friend got the signature Pho. The Beef Stew I really liked. I'm not big on spicy and this one has just a bit to give it a kick, but not so much to make me reach for the water immediately. The baguette was pretty tasty by itself but it nicely soaked up the broth of the stew. Their Pho is solid. It's also nice that they ask you if you want the bean sprouts cooked, and if you want the beef rare or not. The Pho comes with a generous portion of meat. We also had a serving of the rice cakes (which I somehow didn't get a pic of). Decided to have an early dinner while ih the area. We had tried this Vietnamese restaurant when they had first opened and felt that they would become successful....at least foodwise. Since we had opened the restaurant for dinner, our service was the best from their hectic newly opened period. This time, even the chef had visited us...at least twice. Our server was very attentive and professional. We had the spicy tofu with cold vermicelli accompanied by the sweet vinegar dipping sauce. The Vietnamese beef stew had a generous serving of fall apart beef pieces, carrots, and gravy for dipping the bread. The sauce had a sweetness to differentiate for other "beef stew-like" dishes. The "Vietnamese herbs" could have been more pronounced. The Spring rolls with meat presentation had the spring roll with pickles already placed in the lettuce leaves! Not really one to comment negatively on small businesses, since the pandemic has already done enough to reduce traffic. But I wanted to write this review because despite giving this restaurant several chances, they have disappointed me time and time again. Our first time here was great. Great food, great ambiance, great service. I'm pescatarian, so I asked for the fish ball pho with vegan broth. The waitress said that was perfectly fine, and it tasted great. Second time around, the restaurant was far more busy, and there was only one waitress handling the entire restaurant. Service was slow, and it took us about 30 minutes to get our food. The same waitress from last time apologized to us and even gave us free dessert to make up for it. We were initially annoyed, but she really saved the experience for us. This is when things started to go downhill. I tried to order my usual fishball and shrimp pho with vegan broth, but the waitress, who seemed to be new, told us that we weren't allowed to do that. She checked in with who I can assume is the boss, who said that he can't do that anymore because he says he's "wasting too many vegetables." I'm not really sure what that means, and I'm pretty bummed that I won't be able to get my usual order. Whatever though, I just sorta suck it up and go with it. Our last time here is probably going to be our last time there ever. I ordered the vegan pho, and my mom ordered a regular pho. This time, the person taking our orders was who I assume to be the owner. After taking our order, he asked impatiently "Just those two things? Any drinks or appetizers?" I really didn't like being pressured to order more off the menu. He did this again when he set down our food. When he brought us our check, we showed him the promotion for 10% off when we check in on Yelp. He seemed irritated and quickly altered our bill. As a long time fan of Cuu Long II, I got very excited when I learned that An Di Dzo was opening in Kakaako by the same restauranteurs. Today was my 4th time in but first time as take out. Nothing missed a beat. Everything perfect. Spring rolls still crispy when I got home, everything packaged well and with some house made sauce to add! The service has always been prompt and courteous and that was no different in my take out experience. I go with the bone marrow and eye round pho while my partner prefers the Bahn Mi selections, with high praise to the lemongrass option. All in all I gotta say this is the premier pho spot in Kakaako and every dollar spent is well worth it. I gave my dog the marrow bone and he's also in love with it. I went when this place first opened. I'm always weary of places that only have English on the menu and not the actual Vietnamese name of the dish. The place is brand new, gorgeous, and the service was on point. The dishes are a bit white washed if I'm going to be honest. If you want authentic Vietnamese, you can stick to the hole in the walls in Chinatown. If you care more about ambiance, vibe, and a safe location (since Chinatown is sketchy at night), then this is the place for you. We were one of the few customers having an early dinner, so we mostly had appetizers. We had the Banh Xeo Vietnamese crepe, Banh Beo Steam Rice Cakes, and the Banana Blossom Salad. For the first two we had to ask for the dipping sauce, Nuoc Cham, and the salad seemed a little overdressed. Where to begin...? I was so excited to try this restaurant after walking by it once before they opened. As soon as I saw the good reviews and pictures on Yelp, I woke my boyfriend up and hauled our butts over to Ward for dinner. An Di Dzo is presumably a more modern trendy pho restaurant in the heart of Ward. Next to the brand new Whole Foods and in the middle of all these luxury condos, it took the spot of the old Panda Express. Although it looks fancy, I had second thoughts about it after being so excited to eat there. Originally, I had wanted so badly to try to bone marrow pho because it looked SO good in the photos and that's what all the reviews were raving about. Unfortunately, they were out of bone marrow. The server said it was so popular, they always run out earlier in the day. Oh well, I did arrive about an hour or so before closing so that's understandable. I opted for the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup) while my boyfriend got the 2-Choice Pho with flank and tendon. The Bun Bo Hue was pretty good. The soup was flavorful and the noodles were cooked really well. In the menu (and in the pictures), it said it was supposed to come with banana blossoms but mine had none. Maybe they ran out again? It looked pretty empty without it. My boyfriend's pho on the other hand was bland. The soup had so little flavor he ended up having to dump whatever was left of the chili oil and sriracha in it to taste anything. Speaking of chili oil, there were two jars on our table. Both were empty. We asked the server if he could bring us some more and he grabbed one from another table and set it on ours. It was also empty lol. At this point we just gave up on asking and scraped up whatever was left of the bottom of the jar. The vegetables are also already added into the noodles and if you want any extras of ANYTHING, it's an extra charge. Service was ...interesting. I don't know if it was our server's first day as a server? Or if he should consider another career choice? The entire encounter was so awkward. Both my boyfriend and myself have worked as servers before for several years before we got full time jobs so we completely understand what it's like! When we walked in, he came over and pointed to a table by the door. "You can sit here... or anywhere really". Ok, we'll go sit in the back against the wall. He followed us with menus and asked if we had ever been here before. Nope it was our first time but I had looked at photos prior to arriving. He then asks us "do you want pho or rice". Uhh... I mean I haven't even taken a look at the menu yet but I have a pretty good idea of wanting the bone marrow pho? He looks at me and just turns and walks away. Talk about awkward. He then comes back, takes our order, brings us food, brings us an empty jar of chili oil and never comes back again until after we finish our food. We ask for containers and we get them and pack our leftovers up. At this point, he asks if we want our check. Yes please! He disappears and doesn't come back for a while. We are left sitting there for about 5 min until an older lady comes to check up on us. She was very nice and asked if our server brought us out check yet. No he didn't. She tells us she will let him know to bring our check out. Few more minutes go by and our server comes back out and asks if we got our check yet. No.... We didn't.... Mind you, there were only like 4 tables in the restaurant at this time. If you can't handle 4 tables or a normal conversation, then I'm sorry but you might want to consider a different position. Overall, our experience here was really not the greatest. Awkward encounter with the server, mediocre food, high prices if you want any extra of anything! ($2 for 5 extra lime slices... no thanks...) I would still like to try my bone marrow pho but maybe that will wait until a few months down the line when everything has been stabilized. read more

Went here because they are sister restaurant to Cuu Long 2 in Chinatown which I love and have frequently gone for lunch. I know they were young servers a young lady and boy. But they never asked any questions. They spoke so softly had them repeat several times. There was only 2 other parties at the time but had to ask for water when was obviously empty. Dropped off food like they wish they were working elsewhere. Never cleared empty plates while we sat at such a small table. Never asked why my wife only took 2 bites out of her bahn mi. Food was bland. Spring roll filling was soft and mushy not like Cuu Longs at all. Bahn mi was missing flavor, it was lemongrass chicken but no taste of lemongrass at all. Chicken was dry. I had the vietnamese stew which is similar to beef stew but L&L would have been better and I don't go there for beef stew. Never going there again. I know of some people who went on Mother's Day and they must have had a sad day. Need to train the servers how to greet and service the customer. Need to vamp up that menu. Add some seasoning please. Sticking with Cuu Long 2 but I really think An Di Dzo needs to fix their issues soon or they going to start losing money for this new spot. read more

This is a fantastic place for some quality Bánh Mì. My wife and I ordered the Cuu Long II Banh MI, one with shrimp and the other with lemongrass chicken. Both were prepared very well and were absolutely tasty. The quality of the ingredients and the bread were noticeable and enjoyable. Also, we order the summer rolls and they did not disappoint. The vibes were great with a nice cool indoor experience, but felt like we were outdoors as well with the main doors opened. I forgot to snap a photo of the food because I was quite hungry, but the culinary presentation was clean and professional and the food pops of the nice white bowls and plates they use. Additionally, they have a good stock of different alcohols and wines to choose from. We came during lunch at 11:30 so we beat the rush and got seated quite quickly! The restaurant is a smaller one but there are seats where you can see into the kitchen so that's pretty cool! Also the rest of the place has a very clean interior! I ended up getting the bone marrow pho with the boat bone marrow (slightly pricier than the scoop) and I will say this soup is QUITE rich so it's definitely more of a "have to be in the right mood" for me to order this and so I would give it a (8/10). But with this add-on the soup really takes on a whole new and deeper flavor! This is the only place I go to when I want Vietnamese food. I may have left a negative review when they first opened because the portions were a bit smaller than a lot of other Vietnamese restaurants but now I wish I can take that back. My friend who is extremely knowledgeable about restaurants told me that the owners take the time and care to cook their food from scratch so you can actually taste the difference. My favorite is their bone-in rib and fatty (yes, definitely choose the fatty) brisket slices--I can't exactly remember what it's called but that's the one I always get. This is my dose of collagen when I crave for it. It comes with a big chunk of meat on bone which is very satisfying. The broth is excellent with a deep Umami, and I never adjust the flavor other than add a tiny bit of spicy sauce. I tried most of what's on the menu but this is my favorite, my occasional "fix" that I need. The place is clean, bright, and I park at WholeFoods and walk over. I've only told my closest friends about this place and hope they don't get too busy. I hope they continue to deliver excellent quality foods at very reasonable prices. read more

This has got to be my new favorite vietnamese restaurant! Located on the bottom of the Ward Theaters in the old Panda Express location. Everything here is absolutely delicious and super reasonable considering the area it is in! I had their lemongrass chicken and pork vermicelli bun and man oh man was the chicken was so fragrant with the lemongrass herb and curry flavored! This is definitely a must have dish when you come here! Also, their banh xeo or vietnamese style crepe and spring rolls are the bomb for appetizers! Staff was nice, but I didn't really care much for the food. Maybe it's because I have a regular pho place, but the taste was just not what I associate with Pho. I got bone marrow pho(pretty unconventional but they said it was their signature), where you have to spoon in the marrow for a richer taste. When compared to my sister's pho which is their standard broth, it tasted roughly the same. Also the big bone made it a lot harder to eat the dish. As for the taste of the broth itself, it was underwhelming, a bland slightly sour soup. Topping were fine, if slightly smaller portion than what I am used to.
