If you value your time, your credit score, and basic transparency, stay away from Anaheim Hyundai. This was easily the worst car-buying experience I've ever had. I was looking to purchase a used Tesla Model S Plaid. Because I was driving up from Murrieta, I wanted to handle as much as possible online before making the trip. I already had a pre-approved check from my bank, so I didn't need their financing. I explicitly asked if they had flexibility on the price, and a salesman named "Q" assured me, "We are the dealership, of course we can." When I arrived, a sales manager completely reversed course, stating the price was absolutely firm because the car was used. As a retired veteran, I asked if they offered a military discount and was flatly told "no"--maybe on a new car. I left, but after texting the salesman the next morning, we finally agreed to a token $300 off a $70k+ vehicle. Since Plaids are hard to find in the area, I went back to finalize the deal. This is where the real issues started. I handed my pre-approval check to a different salesman. They insisted on running an "identity check" because of fake checks in the area, but explicitly promised it would not be a credit pull. 30 minutes later, I received an Experian alert: they ran a hard credit inquiry anyway. When I stormed into the manager's office, they brushed it off as a fraud prevention policy. They blamed these agonizing new policies on their transition to a publicly traded corporate owner (Lithia Motors). Despite having a pre-negotiated price and my own bank check in hand, they managed to drag the process out for 5 hours. The vehicle prep was just as careless. They tried to push a "pre-installed" ceramic coating on me, which I declined. You can actually see water spots trapped underneath the coating, proving they did zero prep work before applying it. Furthermore, after having the car for just a week, I'm getting warning messages that the front camera needs cleaning--a basic Tesla service item they completely ignored before handing over the keys. Unauthorized credit pulls, terrible communication, and sloppy vehicle prep. Take your business elsewhere. read more

More importantly, your response completely overlooks a critical fact: my vehicle did not have a coil problem when I brought it to Anaheim Hyundai. That problem arose only after the vehicle was in your dealership's possession and had been serviced by your technicians. I am not claiming that timing alone proves exactly what caused the coil problem, but it is a significant part of my experience and should not be ignored. I also strongly disagree with your characterization of the repair performed by Fix Auto as a "temp fix." This was a professional repair that comes with a lifetime guarantee. Calling it a temporary fix is dismissive and gives readers a very different impression of what was actually done. Finally, stating that rodent damage is "usually not isolated to one area" is a generalization. It does not establish that my vehicle had additional rodent damage. In all my years of experience purchasing vehicles, if there's one thing I can say that is more important than just numbers alone, is that you also need the right sales associate helping you. If there's no willingness or the person is straight out lazy, the frustration is not even worth it trying to wheel and deal. If you know numbers and your credit, how to calculate payments and interest then you're solid. You'll just need the right rep to assist you in finding the car and setting up the paperwork. Everything should be laid out in the contract. I ended up looking online for a specific car and color before calling Anaheim Hyundai. The guy who originally answered the phone said they had the car, but when I asked for specific details on a program they had, the answers me was providing me was not accurate. I'm mean I'm literally reading the corporate website on the program. When I explained the answer he was giving me was incorrect, he had attitude and was just trying to rush me off the phone. I mean the proper customer service would've been to say that he didn't know, which would've been ok. Nothing wrong with not knowing something. But then either ask someone else or pass the phone so we can get the correct assistance. But we hung up and let it end there since he was so rude. My brother was really adamant though about getting a specific color, model and trim, and Anaheim Hyundai was the only one in the area who had it. So, I said let's drive down and see the car first, then see if someone else could help us out who would take the time to make the transaction right. Thank God that we met Tam. He was nice, helpful and straight-up honest about what he was able to do and not able to do. I let him know we did our homework and based on credit and down payment, our monthly should be around X$. We asked if he could do it, and if not what the best he was able to do so we can compare. After a few minutes of speaking to his finance department, he gave us the green light. We actually spent more time signing papers than the test drive and waiting for approval. Tam let the process be easy and simple. If you are ever in the need for a Hyundai, I highly recommend visiting Anaheim Hyundai and asking for Tam Nguyen. If there's something he can do for you, he'll tell you up front and no bs given or bait and switch. He's up front and honest which we appreciated. Thank you for responding. To clarify, my concern was not simply that I declined other vehicle options. When I visited the dealership, I was interested in a specific Santa Fe and was shown a different vehicle instead. I was not offered a test drive in the vehicle I had originally asked about, and I was also given incorrect information about its engine. Afterward, I continued communicating with your team because I was still prepared to purchase. My main request was for a clear written out-the-door price with the dealer add-ons I did not want removed. The Lifetime Oil was removed, but the KARR Security charge remained even after I specifically asked for it to be removed. I also had difficulty getting straightforward answers before making another trip to the dealership. I understand inventory changes quickly, but my review was about the overall communication and pricing experience, not simply because a vehicle became unavailable. read more

I'm a senior on a budget, had all my numbers crunched, yet he continued to up sell me $2,800.00 on a Nitro tire package for tires, GPS and door guards that already came with the car. DO NOT PAY FOR THEIR EXTRA ADD-ONS" it's all a bluff and tactic to get you to pay for something that is already on the car. The car salesman told me the dealership has to make something to stay in business !!" I traded in my car and told him I'd put another $3k down on the car, when he came from the Managers office, the contract read I was putting down $4k & he lowered my trade in value by $400.00. Salesmen work off of a scratch paper then go to their manager to ask if they can get you a deal, they come back and say no the manager can't meet your needs. Before you go to finance they make you sign their little piece of scratch paper like a legal document. I didn't see all the changes he did until after I signed the contract. After 4 long hours, of bait and switch, they sent me thru to the finance and handed me a thumb drive, no hard copy paperwork to review anymore !! This was by far the worst car dealership I have ever dealt with. My advice if you ever buy at a car lot, always ask for the price out the door. Never give them your financial info, like what you can afford per month. Always get a pre-approved loan from your bank or whoever has the lowest interest. I gave this dealership a second chance after my previous service experience, and unfortunately, it was more of the same. On May 19, my car died on the side of the freeway at 6:00 AM in Compton. Given that this dealership had previously replaced my engine under warranty, I was concerned it might be related to the same issue. I paid $250 for a tow truck to have the vehicle transported all the way to Anaheim Hyundai. When I arrived, Alex checked me in and had the technicians inspect the vehicle. After waiting about four hours, I was told the problem was not related to the engine replacement. Apparently, I had run over something that punctured the transmission fluid pan. While I was relieved it wasn't a major engine issue, I was told the repair would take approximately two days, the part would be ordered, and the total repair cost would be around $1,000. Since this dealership does not offer courtesy vehicles, I rented a car and went home. The very next day, I received a message that the part had been ordered but would take 3-7 days because it was coming from the East Coast. I was told it was being treated as an emergency order and would be expedited, with hopes of having the vehicle ready by Friday. Friday came and went. I messaged Alex for an update and received no response. Since I had no idea when my vehicle would be ready, I had to extend my rental car again. On Saturday, I reached out once more and was informed the part still had not arrived. Later that same day, I was told the part would not arrive at Hyundai's distribution center until May 29, and then would require an additional day to reach the dealership. At that point, I was completely confused. How is a part considered "expedited" when it takes nearly two weeks to arrive? I work in logistics, and there are numerous options available such as FedEx, UPS, overnight shipping, or air freight. The explanations simply didn't make sense. I continued trying to get updates: May 26 - No response. May 28 - No response. Multiple follow-up messages went unanswered. Meanwhile, I continued extending my rental car because I could not rely on the dealership's estimates. Finally, on May 30, I received a message that my car was ready. Unfortunately, the message came too late for me to make it before closing, and since the dealership is closed on Sundays, I had to wait until Monday morning to pick it up. Because of the delays and lack of communication, I spent an additional $550 in rental car expenses that could have been avoided if accurate timelines had been provided from the beginning. The repair itself appears to have been completed correctly, but the customer service experience was once again frustrating. The recurring issues are poor communication, missed timelines, lack of urgency, and customers being left to absorb the costs associated with delays. While waiting, I spoke with a salesperson who informed me that because my engine replacement warranty information is stored in Hyundai's system, I can take my vehicle to any Hyundai dealership for future service. That was all I needed to hear. This will be the last time I bring my vehicle to Anaheim Hyundai for service. There are too many other Hyundai dealerships that value communication and customer service for me to continue dealing with this level of frustration. The final disappointment was seeing the condition of my car when I picked it up. The vehicle had not been washed, cleaned, or even wiped down. It appeared a window had been left open while it sat in the shop because the interior was covered in dust. After spending over $1,000 on repairs and another $550 on an outside rental car due to delays, the least they could have done was return the vehicle in decent condition.
