I ordered dinner from Anarbagh last weekend and my expectations went down from 5 to 3 stars. I have picked up a few orders from this place since I work for GrubHub, and I have always experienced a warm welcome and short wait time. It was about time I gave it a try! Portions are okay. The food containers are pretty much the same size from every other Indian restaurant I have ordered. Similar prices as well. The Chicken Tikka Masala was very tasty, and so were the samosas. The side of rice seemed either undercooked or old--or both. Lastly, the pita bread was burnt from many places. I have a strong sense of smell, and I did not enjoy that burnt smell! Overall, the chicken and samosas were great, but everything else could have been better. Seriously, burnt pita? That could have been easily replaced on the spot. Friendly workers. Plenty of parking. They are really on top of it. Everything was so fresh and my taste buds jumped for joy. We ordered both the chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka masala. Both were absolutely incredible. We ordered them both Spicy. Next time I would order extra spicy because I feel like they were a little bit conservative in their spicy level. Found this place via Yelp scrolling and wondered if they were connected to the Agoura location. We came in and asked, yes they are, so we sat and enjoyed. My boyfriend never been to either location and was open to me ordering for us. We did the meal for two combo and few extra dishes: tandoori chicken, sag potato with paneer, coconut curry vegetables, lamb with potatoes, naan stuffed with cheese, naan with lamb, regular naan, both of their two desserts that they offered. My friend had dined at this restaurant plenty of times in the past, and said that the food was not spicy (adjusted to suit the palates of an American clientele), and suggested that we both order it Spicy/Hot. Just don't go here. Worst place. The tea was stale from and burnt from reheating. The samosa had stale and spoilt potatoes inside. The pakosas were fried in over used oil and had a bad oil flavor. This is my go to Indian spot in the valley. I just want you to take a second to look at the "dinner for 2" shown in the photo. Now, realize that this is HALF of what comes with a dinner for 2. Missing is the lentil soup, giant samosas, and delicious gulab jamon that we ate after this meal. This is a feast for 2, and a dinner for 4. After a lengthy pickleball session, this is exactly what my friend and I needed to eat. I will say, I ate so much yummy food that I nearly went into a food coma after (despite ordering coffee for dinner) and nearly wasn't able to go out. I'm happy to report that I was indeed able to make it out that night. The servers are very respectful and attentive. The atmosphere is sit-down but still relaxing enough to where you would want to sink into your seat. I cannot stress how YUMMY everything is. If your spice tolerance allows for habanero level spice, I would go with the "hot" option. It really does make everything taste better! I've been to multiple of their locations but this was my first time at the Encino branch. Glad to see that the quality does not change between chains! Their other dishes are also good, especially the gulab jamun, but I consistently get the sag paneer - hot spicy level. We got it once with a lower spice level and it just wasn't the same. Honestly, their food is very good. This is my favorite Indian restaurant. However, I took a star off because they just don't read notes when I place my orders and it's annoying. I usually place orders through Uber Eats, but I've also placed orders directly, and what annoys me most is that whenever I order foods that require chutneys, they do not give them. For example, tonight I ordered lamb samosas, and I specifically even called them and asked them to make sure that they placed enough chutneys in the bag. The guy said that he would, but once again, when I got my order, they gave me one tamarind chutney and no green chutneys for 4 samosas. I don't like eating dry samosas, so I'm just not going to order these from them anymore because it happens every single time. They just don't pay attention. Similar problem with the soups........ The last two times that I ordered their soup, I received some weird vegetable curry that I didn't like and didn't eat. To the managers, your food is very good and I really like your restaurant but please start paying attention to what your customers are saying, particularly for online orders. If I was able to travel down to your restaurant and pick up the food myself, I would, but I am disabled, and I can't so I have to rely on food services like Uber eats. When I have a restaurant that repeatedly ignores what I'm requesting, it doesn't make me want to order from you anymore. Please take this review in the spirit in which it is intended. I hope you ask your staff to pay attention to notes from now on. read more
