I'm a regular at Woodland Hills and come here every month- with mighty good reason. SERVICE: Excellent, welcoming and reasonably paced. Owner and staff are incredibly gentle and aren't the type to rush your meal. If you're not sure what to get, they'll give some good recommendations. Never been a hiccup when dining in or picking up for takeout. Water refills and boxes for leftovers? No problem. Nice crew and fun to greet/talk with. FOOD: Can't go wrong. If you are an enjoyer of high spice levels like me, you won't be disappointed. Otherwise if not, you can pick a scale of levels on every dish to adhere to your level of tolerance. There's something for everyone and the vegetarian/meat dishes are both great alike. You must try the mango lassi. Non-negotiable. If you enjoy a sweeter drink, there is a strawberry lassi- also very good. Share the mangos and strawberries with whomever you bring and see which you like better. Other favorite recommendations include vegetable samosas, lamb vindaloo, and garlic naan. ATMOSPHERE: Incredibly peaceful, well-lit, and adds a whole lot to the soothing experience. Even on busy days it typically isn't at all a loud environment, so no yelling required to hear other people in general. This may be subjective, as some prefer the more hectic and booming sports bar character- but that's not for me. The space is always kept very tidy and clean, also. Comfy room, low stress, high spice. Your local go to Indian restaurant located in the heart of encino. Such a warm welcoming whenever you walk in. The home cooked authentic dishes with flavors from India. The dishes are amazing and plenty of flavor. The selections of curry dishes, tandoori, seafood are a wide range of options. Each and everything is amazing. Go to dishes are the chicken tiki, classic. The lamb sagg and the lamb chops. Samosas are amazing as well. Only downfall for me as I don't drink soda. They only offer tea with a made with cinnamon. I prefer my ice tea wither it be hot or cold, plain. No sweetener, flavor and so on. So when I ordered the hot tea and asked if it was plan, they said yes. But of course, I could smell the cinnamon right away. Beside that, everything is amazing. November 8, 2019 This experience wasn't as pleasant as the previous time. First off, it took a while for someone to actually come over and take our order. Even for the drinks. Normally they would ask right away if we wanted anything to drink. Didn't look like they were short staff or anything. When we finally ordered, the food didn't take as long as the waiting game for drinks. Food was good but service was terrible this time. It's been along time since we ate at our favorite Indian restaurant . We like the Encino location only. The Woodland Hills and Agoura locations I don't think are as good as Encino. The only reason I did not give them five stars is because the naan and the baklava was better before . The onion naan used to be crispy and not as thick and Chewy as it is now. Also the eggplant texture was a little too puréed then before. The chicken tika and the coconut rice was excellent. It's still worth going back because very few restaurants are exactly the way they were pre Covid in my opinion. read more

Although it shares a common name with other similar Indian restaurants the dishes prepared here are smaller proportions and somehow less flavorful. When ordering I have certain regular favorites like chicken tika, chicken tika masala, and shrimp briani. Somehow, this restaurant didn't measure up to the high standards met at other branches of the same name. Next visit will be to the branch out in Westlake. Was on my mind to try this place from a long time and we finally landed here after 2 hours of bowling and hungry as lions. We ordered chicken makhani ,shahi paneer , mushroom biryani , garlic basil naan, mixed naan . Chicken makhani was really good , right amount of spices and tasted amazing with the garlic naan . Shahi paneer felt a little distant, not so much of shahi kinda texture , more like kadhai paneer kind but it wasn't that bad on taste , just not quite what we wanted and quantity of paneer i thought was fairly low for the price. Mushroom biryani didn't turn out to be my favorite either , it felt more like a pulav and kinda bland on taste too , more on oily side as well. The best thing in the whole experience was naans , soft and very tasteful . Service is good , quite cosy seating and they got parking in rear . Also treated us with a compliment dessert which was very yummy . Overall had a good dinner and would definitely wanna come back and try more off the menu. read more

The worst Indian food experience ever! Fooling people by serving whatever under different names. Ordered egg biryani and they gave us some bland egg fried rice. The gravy for kadai paneer was tasteless and undercooked. We spend money to get atleast basic edible food. This was extremely sub par. The food in general was stale, tasteless and horrible. I guess it's been almost 5 years now since I was last in this location - I usually go to the Westlake Village location but I actually live close to this one. For $40.00, you get two entree plates and two cups of soup and a big plate of rice. It's all very good food. It's not a big restaurant, very homey, and the staff are nice. I prefer the Westlake location though. If you have larger groups of people dining, that's the one to go to. It's more spacious whereas this one is a hole in the wall. read more

When the weather cools off, I crave for Indian food. It's been awhile since we've dropped by. I wished the AC wasn't blasting so high as the food got cold very quickly. The garlic naan was solid. Hubby got the samosa and it tasted mediocre. I was very looking forward to the chicken vindaloo. We had an early office Holiday luncheon yesterday. We ordered Vegetable and Chicken Samosa as an appetizers. It was a bit disappointing the chicken samosa the exterior was crispy, the filling it was too doughy like with no flavor nor species can be tasted it. I ordered the Tandoori Tikka Chicken dinner that comes with rice and soup of the day. The chicken had an excellent presentation, I requested medium to hot spicy, unfortunately was not spicy at all. The Basmati was fluffy not over cooked did not have the aromatic smell nor the flavored of saffron. The soup of the day was hot and delicious. The garlic Naan was another disappointment it was doughy and undercooked no garlic flavor at all. Personnel is friendly and attentive. My expectation when going to an Indian cuisine restaurant is the rich flavors of their spices and aromatics herbs to taste in each bite. Unfortunately, this restaurant is missing the essence of what Indian cuisine is all about. Definitely, I will not consider going back or recommend, since there are so many great Indian cuisine restaurants in this area. read more

Totally authentic, rich and flavorful. I believe some of the team here are Bangladeshi so they definitely bring some of the "East Coast" spice and desserts (Bengal is home of sweets) if you want that energy. The thalis (metal plates with a mix of food) are wonderful. They have lunch specials that are a great bargain. The food is great without a doubt, then add in the fact that the service staff will treat you incredibly well. All your favorites from rolls, to tikka masala, and more. You can't go wrong. This place is the real deal! I lived in the valley in the early 2010s. At the time, I found this to be the best North Indian food I have had outside of India. This past weekend, I was driving through the valley and reminiscing on some of my favorite spots. I thought of this place and wondered if it was still there and if it was, if it would still be as good as it used to be. I was pleased to see that it's still existed and it seems they have more locations as well (I only remembered Encino and Woodland Hills from when I lived there). And I was not disappointed! The food is just as good as I remembered it. My one piece of criticism is that they do not give rice with the entrées. When ordering a curry or something that is meant to be eaten with rice, I do feel it should be included. I placed a take-out order, so I didn't know I wouldn't be getting rice, but thankfully I had some at home. I guess if you are dining in they will let you know that you need to order rice separately. I had some at home so it wasn't so bad, but I can imagine being really disappointed getting home and not having rice to eat the curry with. That said, for almost any other place, I would dock a star for this. However, the food is so good, I'm going to go ahead and give them five stars! read more

Here's what we ordered: Chicken Tikka Masala Garlic & Basil Naan Basmati Rice Saag Paneer Bhartha Side of Mint Chutney The standouts for me where the naan bread, Bhartha! I also enjoyed the chicken tikka masala but found it to be slightly sweeter than I prefer. The Saag Paneer was good too, but it wasn't my favorite. Overall this is a solid place that I will return to. For my next visit I'll try something different. Even perhaps a seafood dish. read more

Had a great experience dining in for lunch with a friend . The restaurant is very clean ( bathrooms as well ) and has cozy Indian vibes with its red decor and welcoming staff . I ordered chicken tikka masala " Hot " ... my friend ordered hers medium. It was interesting because the masala sauce for each of the orders tasted completely different ( not referring to the spice level ) . Both were good but next time I will ask for extra hot . The garlic naan was tasty . The vegetable samosas , we both agreed , were not very good . They have a decent wine list that is priced surprisingly well and the wine glass pours are quite generous. The food prices are comparable to other Indian restaurants and the portion size was enough for leftovers ... everybody knows Indian food leftover's are the BEST ! read more

What can I say but YUMM!!! Absolutely amazing. The portion sizes are generous here and the naan is to die for!! Probably the best naan I've had compared to other Indian food places I've been too. The ambiance is so lovely and would be perfect for a date night. I had ordered for pick up around the time in which they come back for dinner service, and they were quick in finishing up my order. The food itself is really tasty. The pieces of chicken are generous, tender, and big! I had ordered the chicken tikka masala (my go to) and the chicken makhani. The level of spice for one of them was perfect and didn't take away from the meal itself. I don't think the meals automatically come with rice (not entirely sure, but if they do then that's a plus in my book!!), so I ordered them as a "dinner meal," one with soup and the other with salad, coming out to 19.95 each. The salad was very tasty and the mustard based dressing made it go well as a side for the food. The soup, which I think was a blended lentil soup of some kind, was very flavorful and among one of the tastiest lentil soups I've had! The cheese naan and mixed naan are both very good, in size and in taste. I was absolutely in awe of both, and even the slight charring on it didn't take away from my experience. The vegetable samosas are of a good size, and the chutney sauces they added on the side were also very tasty. Altogether, this made for a very enjoyable meal (split between three people AND with leftovers for the next day). Definitely will be one of my new go-to Indian food spots in the valley!! Nice service, seemed like a small well cared for family business. Naan very good! The lamb samosas were delicious, my children did not like them but they did like the vegetarian version. Mulligatawny Soup good, basic lentil. Chicken Tikka Bhuna moist and tasty. Sag Dal wasn't a big hit for our table. Shahi Paneer tasted like cheese chunks in a curry sauce. Reminded me of an Indian version of Potine minus the fries! Our kids had the mango yogurt drinks and liked them but could only drink about a fourth of it because it was so rich and heavy. What I did not like was the beverages. My champagne split was so bad I didn't drink it. And my husbands beer tasted skunked to me. Came here during COVID-19 to order chicken tikka masala carry-out lunch special. I am now giving this a 5/5 stars as my last experience addressed the smaller portions of chicken issue. Anarbagh, alongside maybe Anarkali cafe in the Hollywood area, literally contend for the best masala sauce. Unlike most Indian restaurants, the Masala sauce are extremely rich and flavorful thanks to their special recipe of crushed walnuts blended into the mix. Indeed, the sauce is the boss with Chicken tikka masala. Most other Indian restaurants' sauce consist of a soup-like, thin texture. Anarbagh is rich, hearty and addictive. And I believe this is the ONLY correct way to do chicken tikka masala if you value flavor above all else! Wanna customize your order? No problem. If you order it spicy, they make it spicy. No spice. No spice. Mild. Mild. Other restaurants don't quite know how to adjust or accommodate other customer's orders as attentive as Anarbagh. For a fun taste, go with no spice. If you want to turbo-charge it with a heat sinking missile, add spice. Your pores better come prepared though. I'd recommend the naan bread over the rice. Fresh off the clay oven, their naan tends to be extremely fluffy and just works oh so well dipped in the hearty marinara sauce. I mean you can practically craft the naan into an Indian-like pizza by slathering the thick masala sauce directly into the center and applying the sauce in a circuitous spread. One of the best if not THEE best Indian restaurants throughout the competitive area. But take note, not all Anarbagh locations are equal. I truly think the Encino and Woodland Hills valley locations are better than the Los Angeles locations. Try those out first! read more

We found this place on our way back home. The food is very good and tasty overall but not the best I have tried. We tried the Chicken Tikka, tandoori, Aloo Pallak and Garlic Naan. The Aloo Pallak was okay not a favorite in our group and the Naan was very thick, doughy and in our opinion under cooked. The had carrot chutney which was amazing. The place looks like a typical Indian resturant and it was fairly clean. We did have to send the drinking glasses back as they seemed not to be clean. Over all a good place to get Indian food. This is my favorite Indian Restaurant in the valley! I have tried several others and they do not compare. We started with Samosas (Lamb and Chicken) and devoured them before I could even take a picture. They were just that incredible! We then moved onto the chicken and lamb dishes. Biryani (lamb rice), Chicken Tika Masala and Chicken Makani (butter chicken). We also got some rice to put the chicken on top. I highly recommend the butter chicken! It was a huge hit by everyone at the table! The final course was the Kulfi. We were extremely full but decided we had to try it. Success! The kulfi was not only delicious and perfect but all of us split it! The service was good as well; our server kept checking to make sure we were all satisfied. "No complaints?" I thought as a previous server that was a cute way of asking if we were doing alright. I will most definitely be coming back again and again!
