    Bills Mafia in San Antonio
    Ruthie W.

Bills Mafia in San Antonio meeting @anchorbar_sa for the Bills vs Jaguars playoff game! We had the Sweet and spicy wings, roast beef sliders, and chips and queso. Everything was great and Zoe was our fantastic server. The best part is that the Bills won! Until the next game...

Anchor Bar is truly the OG for wings. They have so many varieties of wings to choose from with flavors and rubs for anyone's taste. The wings themselves are juicy and perfectly cooked every time. I love the options they offer as far as serving size and number of wings available so you definitely have the option to try several flavors. The drinks are wonderful as well and they have a happy hour with very generous discounts to drinks and appetizers. The bar/ restaurant is a cool sports bar with ample seating indoors and out. The service is always great as well, even during busy hours. If you love wings you must try Anchor Bar!!!

A good place for chicken and beer with friends. Met up with a couple of friends for wings on a weekend and have no complaints; it was your standard sports bar with loud TVs and friendly servers. We got a huge plate of boneless wings with four flavors and tons of leftovers, the drinks were creative and reasonably priced, and the service was consistent without being overbearing. Shoutout to our server in training. You were doing great, my guy. We'll be back for more wings soon enough I'm sure.

So, we came to this location for a Texan watch party. Place is big, plenty of room for large groups. Indoor and outdoor. Bathrooms are unisex. Floors are slippery as hell. The spot we sat at was a bit warm. Like a said, this place is big. Our waitress was awesome, she kept checking on us, and was friendly. The guys(men) that work here need to be more attentive to the waitresses, and help them out with the trash cans. One of us in our group got up to help the staff. We got some appetizers only, we got the habanero chicken on a stick, spicy. Took me an hour to eat it. We also had a sample plate, pizza logs, super greasy, Mac and cheese fried balls. The beer was good. We probably won't come back to this location, there is one closer to us, that we like more. Place has a play area across the parking lot.

Food was really good. Had their bacon burger with fries. Very tasteful & delicious! I love their fries w/o salt. Their lunch menu offers reasonable and compatibles with other similar places. Sat by the bar and the bar-tender kept my lemonade filled and refilled. Great space to sit at the bar because you have TV that shows various on-going sports. They have reasonable price. My stomach and myself, left very satisfied.

So I've been to Duff's in Buffalo (although not anchor bar). And I've eaten a LOT of chicken wings in my life, these were so good. They're huge and meaty and I love that this place doesn't nickel and dime you for sauces and blue cheese and stuff. I don't think my wife and I would both get full on just the wings, but between that and the salad (which seriously is HUGE) we were stuffed and still brought home at least half the salad. Also, the service was amazing. We will be back!!! Especially for a game.

First time trying Anchor Bar. Based on what we have heard, it held up. It's your regular sports bar atmosphere, but it does have a few games for the kids if you bring them. The server was polite and attentive. The speed of service was perfect for the amount of people that were there. The wings were fresh and the sauce was balanced better than I thought it was going to be. We also got a large loaded fries to share which was great. It was also clean which was great.

Go Buffalo! Excellent food, spectacular service, and attentive staff. You won't find a better spot for dinner and if the bills are playing make sure you come by! Lisa at the front will take care of you, no doubt. 10 stars!

I've been here twice now, and both visits were great experiences. The food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything I tried hit the spot. Also a good place to watch sports game.

    Blue moon

Really had a great time this afternoon at Anchor Bar. We sat outside and Michaela was our server. We ordered a festive margarita and a blue moon, both delicious! Food wise we got the kids pizza, kids chicken strips, snack boneless wings, 10 count normal wings, and chicken on a stick. Sauces were normal buffalo, spicy bbq, and honey siracha. Honey siracha was my husbands favorite! We got normal fries and wedge fries, equally delicious. Chicken on a stick was way more than we thought it would be and wonderfully spicy!! It was a lovely 73 degrees outside under a beautiful tree for shade! Kids loved the playground after. We will absolutely be back!! The only down side was the restrooms. Could use some TLC!

No pizza logs you spend 40$ for 20 Wings!

The restaurant itself is lovely inside perfect for small celebrations or family dinners and the service is almost always excellent. I had a strawberry margarita, which was sweet and delicious, just the way I like it! One of my guests ordered a blueberry mixed drink, but they were accidentally served a peach drink. We notified the server immediately, and when he returned, it was the same drink with no straw or cherry. He mentioned the bartender had added blueberry mix into the peach drink rather than bringing the correct one. That felt odd and inconsiderate. If the drink couldn't be swapped or refunded, it would have been much better to simply be informed instead of receiving this unusual workaround. For my meal, I ordered the ribeye steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes as usual. Disappointingly, the entire plate felt bland. The seasoning was minimal, and it didn't taste like the Stone Werks meals I know and love. Steak and mashed potatoes should be a guaranteed win, especially for this restaurant. On the bright side, the calamari was perfect, crispy and flavorful. I'll still be visiting this location because I genuinely enjoy the restaurant. Hopefully this was just an off day, and things will be back to their usual high standard next time.

The menu was clubhouse fare, nothing too fancy, which was fine. We shared a Caesar salad, which they split for us into two bowls. The bowls were high sided like soup bowls. Not ideal but it was fine. I really liked the cornbread croutons, and I'm usually not a crouton eater. For my meal I got a cheeseburger with upgraded sweet potato waffle fries. I think my daughter got a grilled chicken burger, I can't recall. Service was great as we were the only people in the restaurant for a while. Located in La Cantera and adjacent to Perry's, it's a large location but parking can be a bit tricky at times. It's loud, so don't come here if you're looking for quiet and intimate. More or less a hang out, kick it with friends kinda vibe. By the door, they have chewy caramels that you can nosh on while waiting for your table or to grab on your way out. Maybe we did both? lol they even sell some small apothecary type stuff as well. Ok let's get to the food! We got the crab cake and the colossal cinnamon roll to start. The kids loved the colossal cinnamon roll. Perfectly balanced with a toffee sauce and spiced pecans. Husband wanted savory so he got the crab cake. It's not Maryland style but it uses gulf crab and a mustardy-seed mix. He and the eldest really enjoyed it! Me, I liked the pickled onions and frisée. I got the steak & eggs hash with a sunny side up egg and medium steak. The steak was just right and had a good flavor. The shishito peppers could've used a touch of salt but they were a good contrast to the crispy fried potatoes, which were large chunks by the way. If only I could have a whole saucier of the avocado hollandaise . It was delicious on the potatoes and the steak! The shrimp and grits were definitely diff from the version we had last year but we liked it! Very vibrant and fresher tasting! The eldest had chicken and waffle. Comes with 2 tenders, 2 eggs your way (she chose sunny side), 1 waffle, syrup and creamy sausage gravy. I normally don't care for sausage gravy but this was NTS! The youngest had the kids Macaroni and cheese, which comes with your choice of 1 side (we chose green beans). We were pleasantly surprised to see it also came with carrots, which she happily ate. Like and crunchy green beans with a creamy and cheesy Mac! Servers don't hover and there's plenty walking around if you need to grab someone's attention for something. We walked in without a reservation, and I really appreciate that they were able to accommodate us with outdoor seating. The patio had a fun, upbeat atmosphere and was a great place to spend the evening. The drinks were generally very well made, once they were prepared correctly. The food, however, was just okay. I had the cheeseburger with an egg, and while it was decent, it wasn't particularly memorable. The standout was definitely the fries, especially paired with the spicy ketchup. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the service. Since we were seated outside, it felt like our table was forgotten. We sat for at least 15 minutes without proper plates, napkins, or silverware and had to ask multiple times before everyone was taken care of. We never had enough water glasses for the entire table, drink service was slow throughout the meal, and at one point I walked to the bar myself because my Old Fashioned had been made with agave and was far too sweet. I also had to track down our server just to get the check. Overall, I appreciate that they accommodated a large walk-in party, and the atmosphere and drinks were enjoyable. However, the combination of mediocre food and inattentive service left us disappointed. I don't think I'd return, as it felt like our table was simply forgotten once we were seated outside.

No follow-up after the food was dropped off to see if everything looked and tasted okay, etc. My friend didn't even want to tip the server, but we've both worked in food services so after some back and forward exchange I was able to convince her to leave a decent amount. Lastly, I wish there was some consistency across the different restaurants inside of Embassy locations. I frequent the one over on the other side of town frequently and that one has a rewards program for frequent diners, yet that rewards program is only valid at that location, which seems weird. If every Embassy has a restaurant, why not just have a universal Embassy Diner's Club kind of thing, why is it that one location offers rewards and the others don't? Or maybe the solution is Hilton Honors club discounts -- I have that as well and if you're not staying in the hotel or trying to use the WiFi in the lobby it seems useless (which its worth noting in some locations even using this the WiFi doesn't connect because you can't get past the captive portal screen not loading).
