We visited tonight for our first time this year and had a great time and amazing service. We were seated right away even though it seemed pretty busy. It looked like they have added a ton of outdoor seating, but it was a bit cold tonight. I don't know how authentic this location is to the original, but we went their a few years ago and have an affinity to the brand. Get the blue cheese! I got a single order(10) hot and my wife got a snack size(5) medium. Both had a good mix of drumettes and flats. I added wedges, she got tots. The wings and potatoes were all nice and crispy and came with carrots and celery with no up charge. They have a full bar and the beer is either big brand or local craft, with a good selection of draft and bottles/cans. They also had a lot of specialty mixed drinks, but we like beer with wings. The beers were all around $5 or less from what I looked at. The booths all had extra plexiglass dividers between them, the tables had plastic sheets on plastic stands, and there was a self service temperature scanner by the door, but we didn't see that until on the way out. Since when does a bar charge for dressing a drink with tajin? This was a shock to me. It was a busy night. But I had ordered two margaritas and had to keep reminding our server that I ordered. Finally got my order, but the bartender only brought one margarita. I told her I had ordered two. 15 minutes later, another bartender came by and brought my friend's drink but not mine. Had to remind them again we were still missing one more margarita. I was annoyed because our server wrote down what I ordered but she only rung up one margarita? Went for the first time a couple weeks ago and the food was really good and our waitress Alicia was AMAZING!! Food was so good!!! We decided to go back tonight for my Sons birthday! It was not that busy at all. Put in appetizer order and waited a while to place food order to get before meal. Ordered food then about 15 mins went by and asked about the appetizer and waitress said she forgot to put it in. With no apology or anything. Dinner came out after about 25 more minutes and my wrap was a totally different wrap than ordered. Asked about it and waitress said " oh I put the wrong one in" and did not even offer to fix it or possibly give discount of some kind. By that time I was starving so I just ate what I had. Great staff, constantly checking in and our server recommended the best drink (Liquid Ganja) We ordered boneless wings with 4 flavors but didn't realize each sauce after the first - even with 32 wings - would cost $0.50 extra (not a big deal just calling it out) We also had an order of sweet potato fries - perfectly made, Mac and cheese which was okay - almost too thick, perhaps it had been sitting for a bit too long, and broccoli which was seriously good. Anchor Bar has been our go to for wings since they opened. Recently saw the expansion and love how they can accommodate more people while still being cognizant of the social distance protocols. My favorite go to for Pizza, Patty melts and Wings! The flavor choices are plentiful and I no longer have to wait forever at Pluckers for a table and the wings here are not dry! The pizza is huge and feeds my teens and 2 adults easily! Wings are really good especially the Ranch rub and garlic parm with blue cheese which isn't the best but the wings make up for that. If you request celery and carrots, just know you only get 2 small carrot pieces and 2 teeny celery pieces The waitress on our last visit was not real good at keeping our drinks filled, we had to ask for refills, boxes but she was very quick to bring the check and cone back to cash it out. They have it all going on here. It's a good place to watch the game over a cold beer, or get some good chicken wings. The staff really seem confused about the food menu and how things work here though. There are four different wing sizes to order but the menu doesn't tell you how many wings come with each one (I'm going to borrow from Kay J's review and tell you what's what: Snack size (5), Single (10), Double (20) and Platter (50) thanks for that Kay - I really don't know why they don't put that on the menu). We went with the "single" which included ten wings. I won't bore you with details, but the server went back and forth between our table and the kitchen four or five times during the ordering process trying to figure out how many different sauces we could have and he also had a half dozen other questions for us. Final answer: you can choose a different sauce for every five wings you order. We had the Sweet and Spicy Korean and the Honey Sriracha wings, neither one were too spicy. The wings had plenty of meat on them and they were slightly crispy (but not too crispy) as other reviews have stated. We also had the fried mac n cheese and it was good. Crunchy, ooey, gooey, cheesy goodness served with a side of the honey sriracha wing sauce. The sauce is pretty damned tasty, but if you order this, I don't recommend ordering the Honey Sriracha Wings, because it's going to be too much sweetness by the time you're done with it all. To sum it up, good food, but the servers are confused and it's also confusing because the menu doesn't tell you how many wings are included with each size order. Final tidbit: they have trivia on Wednesdays at 7pm - very annoying with a loud guy they decided to give a microphone. It's cool if you're there to hang out for the bar scene, but if you're there for dinner, it's annoying. read more

Needing to get out of the house I met some friends to watch some football, eat some food and drink a beer at Anchor Bar. I was all set to get some wings until something caught my eye in the appetizer section.....chicken on a stick...what, what? They described it as their tribute to Fiesta served year around with no lines lol. It is a breaded chicken cutlet tossed in habanero ranch with lime and skewered with a seasoned Jalapeno...music to my ears. I'm a huge Fiesta fan and since this year's was cancelled I definitely was up to try one of my all time favorite Fiesta food items. So I ordered one with a side of tator tots and frosty adult beverage. When the order came out and much to my surprise I got not one, not two but three chickens on a stick....score! During Fiesta, depending on which event you go to you're going to pay anywhere from $5-$7 for one and here I'm paying $8.99 for three.....I'm good with that. The chicken was still warm from the fryer and when you bite into it you will definitely taste the habanero ranch and lime seasoning in the breading and it works really well. I topped it off with a bite of the jalepeno and it was almost like being at NIOSA. Be careful though at the jalepeno was hot but I like spicy so no problem. The tots were also served hot and crunchy and paired well with the chicken. One note to pass along that I found out after the fact is that you can order your chicken on the stick in any of the wing flavors they offer. I'm glad I asked as it was not mentioned on the menu but man am I looking forward to coming back and ordering trying different flavor combinations. Overall, this is a great place to come relax and have some comfort food. The wings are great, the pizza's look excellent and now I know they have a San Antonio favorite year round. Cheers! read more

I was impressed with the measures they are taking during COVID-19. Staff was extra friendly and the food was fresh. I felt very safe. They have their entire menu and top shelf priced like house.
