This place was pretty surprising, and there was a lot of hype. I didn't expect to come here primarily because of the location and where we live. But we were out, and it's new so why not!! It has a nice sports bar feel when you walk in; TVs, tables, booths, nice bar, big and open to see multiple games. Wes was our waiter, and he was really attentive, informative, and professional. The menu is simple, and we had to get some logistics down when ordering. The wings come in increments in five, you can get multiple flavors, and up to 50 with big platters. They have dry and wet sauce. We had mild and habanero ranch; the mild is very mild, not much spice. The habanero ranch packs a lot of flavor, salty, zesty, and just enough heat, but not enough to kill. The ranch is also delicious! Overall pretty good, the service was kind and friendly, prompt on refills and needs. Mind you we were during the day and not like Sunday Night football or anything. I went up to the host stand to change it , the lady said the manager would probably give me a refund so that I could get the burger that I did actually want . Every two or three weeks my buddies and I have a night out we call beer night. Anchor bar has been our go to place for wings and cold beer. Up until last Thursday, July 11 they have never disappointed. During our our beer nite we typically have anywhere from 6 to 10 buddies join on solving all the problems of the world. Although we start our evening at 5 o'clock the guys typically show up anytime between five and six. Even though there was only one table occupied we were told we could not be seated until the majority of our guest have arrived. I feel this is a great policy if The restaurant is busy. We tried to explain our situation to the manager on duty Nico and she kept repeating it was policy. I believe at times commonsense can come into play. the many times we have chose anchor bar this was never an issue of all having to showing up at the same time. We were told we had to have a majority of which we had 5 out of expected eight and were told we had to have six present in order to be seated. The food was great and our waiter was exceptional but management needs additional training in Commonsense. My buddies want to now move our beer nights to pluckers but I believe I can convince them to give it another try at anchor bar. read more

I love this place! Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY claims to be THE FIRST buffalo wing! This is wings done right! My friends and I split a platter with 4 different flavors. All of them were delicious. I don't usually like dry rubs much, but even those were good at this place. I think the wings are better than buffalo wild wings and wing stop! The atmosphere - Typical sports bar, but clean and not too loud. The beer - Good selection of beers on tap, much better than other wing places I have been to. the price - really reasonable for what you get, but they do nickel and dime you a little. It costs more to get a combination of flavors on your plate instead of just one. No sides come with the wings, so be prepared to spend another $2 per person for tots/fries. Now here is where I took a star away because, although they looked "loaded" and eye appealing, under all that cheese were semi-cold fries. The wings made up for it, however. Visited location on a Friday night (22 Jul) and sat on the patio (by choice). It was hot and we were by ourselves on the patio. Only 3 of us and we were a little concerned that service could be an issue, but Angel, our server, had perfect timing for when we needed refills and delivered them quickly. It wasn't that crowded for a Sunday afternoon but it was different this time around because the customer service was way better than the first time I came here. On my first visit, our server didn't check on us. We sat on empty drinks for awhile until we were able to wave her down. On this visit, our server was patient and friendly. She checked on us multiple times and made sure our little ones food was just right for them. She let us try the various sauces since my husband has never been there. This was very helpful in making our decision because it's a hit or miss when it comes to wings and the sauce is the deciding factor. My favorite ones are the sweet and spicy Korean and buffalo lemon pepper. The pizza logs are a must for an appetizer. It tastes even better with garlic parmesan. We read previous reviews and decided to give this bar a shot for a college football game based on the raves about the food. We were a little worried when we pulled up because there wasn't a huge crowd, but that's part of what was nice after we got in there. We ordered the sampler platter and the queso. The mozzarella balls were amazing! Marinara was great too. Wings are simple but cooked perfectly...fried crisp enough without getting them dried out. The philly cheesesteak was off the charts awesome. Service was top-notch. Our waiter didn't hover over our table but was always close by enough to tell when we needed drink refills or to clear plates. If you want my money:..........So this is the most stupid thing that I have heard thus far this year. I called the restaurant to make reservations for 12 people. The young lady who answered my call state, "I do not book reservations. You must go to our Yelp app, and make the reservations via that app). I told her that I could wait so she may book my reservations if she was busy. She replies, "we are not busy at all, but you must make the reservations yourself". What a disappointment.
