    The Best Roll

This place was great. The atmosphere and decor was relaxing and comfortable and the service was attentive. We were given ample time to relax and enjoy. The food was incredible and even our non sushi eater found something to enjoy. I would highly recommend this place, but make a reservation. It gets so busy.

Came here for my sister in laws birthday. I love the feel and decor of the restaurant. It def makes me feel like I'm on a boat. Service was pretty good though the busboy(older man) was a bit rude, never spoke. The food was ok. My drink was the best part. I love trying new places to I doubt this one makes it into rotation again.

A friend and I stopped in for a quick dinner. Such a beautiful place. The staff were very friendly and the ambiance and music are nice. I really enjoyed my food as well. My favorite was the lobster wontons. Delicious and I will be back!

Solid sushi bar. Ambience is somewhat nautical yet cozy. Here's what we ordered: - Crispy chicken bao buns: Did not have high hopes for these, and boy was I wrong for that because these were DELICIOUS! Perfectly crispy chicken, with a great sauce. - Hamachi ponzu: Good. The fish slices were thicker than I would've preferred, but still nice. - Truffle Toro: AMAZING. This melted in our mouths - A5 Wagyu Beef: ALSO AMAZING. Also, melted in our mouths. We enjoyed this so much, we ordered another order of this. Lobster and shrimp potstickers: Alright. Lupton Roll: No. just no. We did not like this at all. Definitely not appetizing. The Miyazaki: Absolutely no. We were tricked because this had the a5 wagyu and since the wagyu beef nigiri was so delectable, we had high hopes for this. However, we could barely stomach it. We only had a 2 pieces of this, total and had to send it back. The wagyu was nothing like the nigiri. Instead, it was hard. Glad we got so much aside from the two rolls, because everything else was solid. We'd come back again.

I have found a new favorite restaurant. I'm so impressed with the attention to detail in service, ambiance and food. I'll start with service. Hubby and I arrived a little early (a first for us !) and were treated to complimentary wine or Prosecco while we waited. What a great concept. The hostess says that the Vandelay Hospitality Group is committed to providing everyone who waits, a good first impression. Definitely worked for me! The restaurant itself is very handsome and tastefully appointed. It looks like the interior of a luxury yacht, rounded corners, hard wood, oval windows. The bar vibe was energetic. Onto the food. We tried the Tuna Shiso Tacos. These were amazing. Fresh, with lemon vinaigrette and a little homemade wasabi for heat. The bottom was like a tostado but better. Husband tried the Hamachi Yuzu. He ate it all with a happy face, so apparently was delicious. For my entree I had the King Salmon. Can I tell you this was the BEST salmon I've ever had. The exterior was carmelized which made the exterior have a beautiful browned and sweet, but not too sweet, flavor. The interior remained delicate and cooked to perfection. This was served with nicely cooked fried rice. I especially liked the tiny mushrooms in the fried rice. A heavenly dish! Husband had the Anchor Roll. Although the hamachi and bluefin tuna tasted fresh and ratio of fish to rice was good, he was not a fan of the lemon mustard sauce. Mustard, he says, belongs on pork or burgers, not sushi. Our waiter was fabulous. Perfect night!

I had been wanting to try Anchor for awhile... it's right down the street from me. It did not disappoint. We started out with Lychee martini and several sushi dishes and ended with the Lemon drop martini which was phenomenal. The service was good and the atmosphere was really nice. Definitely will be back and will try the bar!

    Hamachi Ponzu Sashimi

The food was all amazing. The fish is so fresh and high quality. Our server was great, she was very fast and kind. We loved the ambiance and it felt like the perfect upscale date night spot. Definitely get the Lychee martini, it is delicious!

The Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, A5 Wagyu Dumplings

Food was delicious but on the pricier side. The ambiance is very dim in here. Our servers were very friendly. I would like to go back and try more rolls

From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm hello and smiles across the board. We tend to dine in the bar area bc I feel it is more personable with the people who not only serve your drinks but your food. There's something that is ever so slightly different than dining in the dining area. We have started with the Truffle Salmon, adorned with crystallized soy and citrus. We had asked which the bartender, Kirstin, what she preferred it and the shrimp & lobster pot stickers. Both, apparently get amazing reviews, but if you are looking for something light, the Truffle Salmon is the way to go. For dinner we have decided on the Best Roll & Anchor Roll. (Those with any allergy to cucumber, the Chef's Pressed is premade therefore the cucumber cannot be left out.) The Anchor Roll has rice, so a smidge dense with a citrus undertone. Very good for a sushi roll. The Best Roll, for those who may have a texture forward palate and soft things (soggy bread-like), this may be a challenge. The salmon is almost overpowering. The trick on this roll, dive into the middle. The filling is legit!! The ambiance is pleasant, for sure. Overall, I'd definitely come back!

Everybody seems to absolutely love this new sushi spot in Dallas! Shaped like a ship on the inside tons of wood beautiful .. great music, fabulous service, and the food a little on the small side but it's so tasty and so flavorful we ended up having seven different dishes and they were all amazing.... The blue fin and the yellowtail crispy rice is some of the best we've ever had . Hamachi yellowtail and salmon again so delicious so creative with just a kick a spice . They have this great roll without rice, wrapped in salmon. The flavor is off the chain. This is a sushi restaurant that I would visit again, and again make a reservation because they are busy.

Thanks to the reservation, we were seated right away and immediately greeted by our server, who was honestly amazing from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless. We kicked things off with drinks. I started with an espresso martini, and it was really, really good--smooth, balanced, and exactly what I was hoping for. For my second drink, I tried the smoked Old Fashioned from their holiday menu. It was good, but I'll be honest, it was extremely strong. Like, really strong. In general, their drinks definitely pack a punch, so that's something to keep in mind when ordering. For my entrée, I ordered the Mediterranean smoked chicken salad, and wow. It was hands down one of the best salads I've ever had in my life. Everything was perfectly balanced, flavorful, and satisfying, and it didn't feel like a "boring" salad at all. It was so good that I already know I'll be coming back specifically for that dish, though I'm also curious to try more of the menu next time. Overall, this place absolutely lived up to the recommendation. Great service, strong drinks, and standout food. I'll definitely be back.

The layout feels open and comfortable, and the overall vibe is upbeat without being overwhelming. That said, service on arrival could use some attention. There was a noticeable gap at the host stand with several guests waiting and no staff in sight, which set a slightly off first impression. Once seated, though, the experience improved. Ally at the bar stood out right away. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming, she helped turn the visit around and made the experience feel more personal. She did come back to check in later, which was appreciated and helped round out the service. On the food and drink side, they carry Manhattan Project Beer Company's Half-Life, which is a big win and pairs exceptionally well with the French dip. The sandwich itself is flavorful and satisfying. The fries were a bit on the softer side, so if you prefer them crispy, I'd definitely recommend asking for them extra crispy when ordering. Overall, Thirsty Lion has a lot going for it. Great atmosphere, solid menu, and standout staff like Ally. With a little more consistency at the front of house, this place easily moves from good to great.

Highlights for food: The pizza and bread were delicious. 4 for flavor and texture. I would've loved to have the tortufo, which I tried to order, but the waiter told me they were out of truffles. I asked if we could just get everything else in it and he said "no"? We ordered the wild mushroom instead and while I didn't taste the thyme or pesto, it was still really good. Arugula salad: I think it's $14 or close, so I expected a decent size. It wasn't, and it had one piece of fennel. One. Disappointing. Flavor was good, lemony and fresh. Service: Ordered a cocktail when we sat down. It didn't come for a while. We asked about it, kind of had to remind the server, and it finally arrived with our appetizer, mussels, but I wouldn't have paired the cocktail with mussels so kinda meh. The mussels, however, were really good. They'd get a 5. So overall the food was good, and I'd be curious to try some other things, but it's all a part of the experience and that overall was so-so.

We went for dinner on a Friday to enjoy the gorgeous Dallas weather, sitting on the patio. Service was perfect as usual, seldom a problem with service. The kid had Topochico ($6 for bottle, ouch!) The kid had the small guacamole and it is a generous portion with very good quality avocado and a slice on top. There is a small side of roasted poblano pepper that is quite spicy but delicious. I "stole" it from the kid and put on my tacos. Perfect. I had my favorite "Old Fashioned" tacos with flour tortillas and loved them. You two to an order for $17 plus red rice and Cole slaw. It's more than enough food. They also have chicken ramen for those who cannot appreciate the deliciousness that pork offers. The interior was cozy and upscale for a ramen spot and they have an outdoor patio which is nearly as large as the inside. The service was respectable but not noteworthy. Parking wasn't bad either, there are lots and a garage nearby. However, the food itself fell flat for me. We ordered the crispy chicken happy hour special, which comes with a side salad. The chicken was on the dry side. Whenever I order Kaarage, it usually comes with a dipping sauce, but there was none here and that would've really helped out. The dressing on the side salad was way too acidic, making it hard to eat as well. In addition, we ordered the takoyaki as an appetizer. The takoyaki themselves were pretty solid, but the texture of the mayo was off. I'm not sure if they make their mayo in-house, but i noticed it was curdled. EDIT: after reading the restaurant's response, the texture I noticed was because it's an egg tartar sauce For the ramen, we ordered Jinya Tonkotsu Black and Creamy Veggie Ramen. Pricing is standard for DFW ramen restaurants, although *slightly* higher than some others (by like $1). The base ramen comes with a good variety of toppings! However, the ramen was just okay. The noodles are on the skinnier side, which I prefer thicker, chewier noodles. The pork chashu serving was small, and it tasted kind of old and wasn't that tender nor flavorful. The broth was just alright. I prefer soft-boiled, jammy ramen eggs, but the ajitama here was cooked longer than I would've liked. Ironically, I thought the veggie ramen was *much* better. The broth had better flavor, and they use different noodles than the tonkotsu, which were thicker (and exactly what I like!). Lastly, we had the matcha tiramisu for dessert. On a positive note, the matcha flavor was detectable. However, the tiramisu crème wasn't that fluffy, and there were noticeable amounts of undissolved sugar.

I had booked a reservation on Resy and we were seated immediately in a small, intimate booth. Initially, it was not terribly loud, but as the evening progressed and several large parties were seated nearby; the sound of the music was completely drowned out. I think more noise abatement measures could be taken to absorb some of the obtrusive loudness we were getting. For a starter, we ordered the Calamari. It was fried perfectly and was great, but the Thai Sticky sauce was too sweet and the consistency of the sauce was thin. It needed something to make it more viscous, and a secondary sauce, like a marinara or even an aioli would've been nice to balance out the sweetness of the Thai sauce. For an entree, I ordered the Maple- Ginger Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and itself was delicious, but the sauce was too sweet and rich. The fired rice that accompanied my meal was over-the-top salty. It was almost going into "too much" territory. For desert we split the Passion Fruit Ice Cream Pie. This was actually very good and not overly sweet. It was my favorite item from my meal. Overall Renny's truly employs a lot of care and attention to the food, but some of the items crossed a line into "too much" territory. Be it sweetness or saltiness, the kitchen could exercise a bit of restraint to let the flavors of the food shine.
