This is the closest Italian restaurant to Chautauqua Institution so there is a somewhat captive audience in the summertime. I was there for an early dinner in mid-October and there was a respectable turn-out on a Friday evening and by the time I left, someone was waiting for my parking space. I know a lot of people go there for pizza and I had heard some unflattering comments about it, so I ordered the lasagna. It came with a skimpy, somewhat tired-looking salad and nice warm bread. I've had better lasagna. This example was generously layered with meat and cheese, but the flavor was quite bland and the sauce rather runny. However, I was a big fan of my dessert: I ordered the Tortoni and expected a little round ramekin of vanilla ice cream with crumbled toasted almond on top, but what I got was quite special... The tortoni itself was a firm frozen custard with small chunks of almond mixed in and it was served on a dinner plate surrounded by rectangular pieces of fried dough sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and drizzled with strawberry sauce. The fried dough was thin and flaky and not at all heavy like a zeppoli can sometimes be. I could not finish it, but I loved the blend of flavors and the presentation. My waitress was very friendly but was a little overwhelmed by a large party a the adjacent table and I was a little surprised when none of the other staff broke away from their private conversations to assist her. Don't order takeout. We put in order at 6:10. Told it would be 55 minutes. Showed up 7:15 and waited 20 minutes. Finally learned our pizza was not even in the oven. Some folks had been waiting two hours. Canceled the order. What a mess! read more

Andriaccio's is a MUST stop, eat, & enjoy restaurant! Andriaccio's is a family owned & managed restaurant & is an absolute delight!! We had the best experience with food, service, & hospitality!! The absolute best restaurant in the area! My boyfriend & I were visiting from California & had the most amazing experience here! The Italian food is fresh, hot, flavorful, & delicious! I'm already craving it. We had the greens Neapolitan appetizer which was a veggie greens & cheese mixture of tastefulness, & came out steaming hot with fresh sourdough bread to spread upon. I had the seafood carbonara that had peas, succulent scallops, & shrimp in a creamy garlic sauce. This was divine & had a very homemade taste to it. I could taste the love that the owner/chef put into it. My boyfriend had the very tender, juicy veal Marsala with a wine mushroom reduction sauce & polenta with fresh Parmesan. Delicious!!! Joe, the wine connoisseur, came over & personally paired our meal with a delicious Italian Montepulciano red wine from the Tuscany region of Italy. This couldn't have been a better pair. The wine was bold in the beginning with a refreshingly soft ending, still with 13% alcohol. Delicious!! The food, service, & hospitality here is bar none & is definitely one for the books. We visited yesterday afternoon and had a delightful late lunch. The oysters on the half shell were huge and delicious. We had the greens with sausage on garlic toast points and it was flavorful with just the right mix of spices. Our favorite part of lunch was meeting Guy Andriaccio and his son, who is now the owner. Guy spoke of how he brought his wife and children from Buffalo 35 years ago and bought the old gas station and transformed into a great restaurant adventure. I wish we lived closer (we live in Pittsburgh) but when we visit Chatauqua in the future we certainly will be stopping back. read more

The power went out while Dining here this weekend, apparently it had been happening all day. They were running on a backup generator and in my opinion did a splendid job under the additional stress. I had a seafood pasta dish, although the seafood bits were small the dish was tasty. I think the normal bread they serve is good, but due to the outage, our second round of bread was toasted. read more

Really not impressed. The pizza dough is not that great. Having made fresh pizza dough before it seems like this isn't fresh, hand tossed. It seems to be the frozen kind but I have a friend who insists they make it fresh. Ordered a steak and cheese sub and it seemed like scrap sirloin steak, loaded with fat and tendon, was pink and red in different spots. We eat here all the time. Pizza is very good. Everything else can be good or... blah. I really think it depends on whether the owners are there. Consistency is everything. In addition to pizza and wings I routinely get a steak sub. Usually it's fresh steak grilled as per the menu. But sometimes it's "steak ums" and a really nasty version of that. Quite literally, the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We picked this restaurant randomly... didn't get to look it up beforehand. Mystery restaurant selections are sometimes fun. But this time wasn't. We had a large party, 17 people (family vacation). Soon after we got seated, another group of 20 came in and were seated right next to us. The loudest group you could ever imagine. Seriously... imagine the loudest, most obnoxious country boy voice you can... and then multiply that by 20. Should have known that was going to be a bad start to the night. They brought one of the kids food late... like after everyone was done eating late. If you're busy, and going to bring food late, at least make it one of the adults. The portion sizes seems to be hit or miss. I personally a calzone, and it was big. But not so good. It wasn't bad... just not good. It's been a while since I've been back in NY, so I was kind of excited for real pizza / calzones again. The pizza's they brought for the kids were huge. Like an adult size personal pizza. Why would you serve these to kids??? And then someone ordered a ravioli dish... and there were only like 7 ravioli's spaced out on a plate. Must be that mad rush for expensive pasta. Customers for 15 years during Memorial Day and Labor Day holiday vacations. Food was great. Satisfied for the first 9 years. Our mistake was to order one more time. Jumbo shrimp basket was butterflied to look like Jumbo shrimp. Over-cooked and flattened like pancake. Chicken finger basket found me chewing on dry chicken pieces. Blue Cheese and Ranch Dressing were watery. We realized there was only one driver after we called back after over an hour and were told there is only one driver and there were lots of orders, but was not told that when we ordered. Needless to say, there will be no more ordering after this fiasco. Please do not send complimentary food voucher as we won't be back. read more

This location has always been one of the better ones to choose from when I've stayed in the Chautauqua Institution for a week. They do have the advantage of being close enough to capitalize on the tourist season, and their prices reflect that by being higher. We enjoyed our meal here and our service was superb and attentive. The food was well prepared and seasoned. The Terra Misu was delicious. Visit this place a little earlier than dinner rush to get better service. By the time we were leaving, the line was out the door and the wait looked like it might be annoying. My mother and I showed up at 4:30pm to begin our meal and had no issues. I would give this place five stars, except the inside feels a bit dark and shut in. They had some number of flies buzzing about as well because people are in and out so often from the doors. (So, an understandable problem, but it was noticeable.) They try to have an authentic Italian restaurant feeling with the interior design, but it just misses it somehow. Maybe it's the painted pho-brick or the lack of windows. If it's nice outside, go for the deck. :) read more

I've been going here for so many years and the place really hasn't changed very much. We last went around Easter time and they were remodeling half of the restaurant, which meant the wait for a table was more than 30 minutes (kind of a pain with two young children). The owner was great though. He was actually going to set up a table for us in the room that they're remodeling so we didn't have to wait any longer. This place makes Olive Garden look like a dream. The first time I came here I had a caesar salad. It was drenched in dressing and it was hard to stomach. The second time I ordered a meal for a friend and I for delivery. The guy showed up and when we asked for silverware he said you had to "request that in advance". He also failed to give us any condiments such as parmesan cheese (I ordered spaghetti!!!) AND he did not provide us with their bread + olive oil. EVERY restaurant includes plastic silverware as well as their complimentary bread. His excuse was "well...everyone has silverware....". Aside from that, the food was not worth the price. I pad $14 for spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti sauce tasted like it came straight from the can and my food was on the cold side. My friend ordered fettucini alfredo with chicken and broccoli yet there were only two pieces! And her plate was $18! Please save your $$ and don't go here. What a waste of money read more

We waited for two hours with two little ones. We watched tables come and go around us. Finally our food arrives, it is cold, the pasta has hardened. Our plates sat forgotten in the kitchen for who knows how long. My toddler's pizza was gross and soggy. The waitress did NOT apologize. She did not offer to get us fresh food. She did not offer to comp any of the entrees. She merely stated, "Well, we're busy." And that was it. It was my first outing to a restaurant with the newborn and the toddler, we were all starving and had sat there for two hours only to walk out of there angry and hungry. Wow I was suprised about the negative comments we were at the Lake last week and ate in the restaurant twice, had the pizza and spaghetti. The spaghetti was perfect, had the meatballs on one day and sausage the other both cooked to perfection. Tried this place twice and this review is for both. Had a large group for dinner in the restaurant- service was great but the food was below par. We ordered their last two pieces of prime rib-i asked for an end cut, which they said it was- but I've had my share of end cuts to know that two cut sides dont make an end -dry and chewy as well. Chicken piccata was also dry and husband's spaghetti sauce tasted worse than Prego. Drink specials were light on the liquor but still refreshing. The second night we decided to have pizza delivered from them. Took 45 minutes which isnt bad but pizza itself was doughy and bland. Veggie pizza was ok, and the buffalo chicken pizza tasted like they took a chicken salad, tossed it with thousand island dressing and spread it on wonderbread and baked it. Went here for dinner on a Friday night- it was busy but we got right in. Our waiter was amazing and offered suggestions. Our group had vegetarians and gluten free people. The restaurant was able to work with all the needs. Our GF member said the GF pizza was crispy and excellent. The Farmers Market salad was yummy. I ate at Andriaccio's over 20 years ago and did not go back because it was not good. We decided to carry out last night and ordered dinner for the house. I picked up the food which consisted of 2 pizza's, wings and a pasta dish. One pizza was apparently ok. The other pizza was under-cooked and tasted terrible. It was simply inedible. I did call and spoke to someone at the restaurant, who offered to make an accommodation. He also mentioned that there may have been a problem with the pizza oven. However, I declined to accept what I thought would be a replacement pizza. read more

Awful pizza. Restaurant has great rep, but I don't understand why. It's location near CHQ Institution grounds is well known as a restaurant, but the Bemus location is terrible. Pizza is mushy, and pepperoni are tiny--the edges curl up and burn. Instead try Crosby's takeout. It's a convenience store near Greenhurst, but it has pizza ovens, and the pizza is excellent. read more

Fabulous pizza and warm, wonderful staff. We've been a few times and have always had a great experience, but our last visit was the most telling. We'd walked there from nearby and the weather appeared lovely. But while dining, a torrential thunderstorm developed. I have eaten here twice now and have been impressed both times. The first time was for my birthday in December. Because this is a community that thrives on the tourists of Chautauqua Lake, December is most definitely their "off" season. Even in the winter, they were doing a brisk business. Our visit today was much busier, but we only had about a 15 minute wait. My boys ordered pizza logs to start with. I have never seen such enormous pizza logs! They are clearly made from scratch and are AMAZING! Their main selections were pizza calzones. Again...ENORMOUS! Today I had their lasagna, which was quite tasty. I was so full from the pizza logs I ended bringing half home. My previous visit, I had their lobster ravioli. WOW! My husband both visits had their penne with meatballs. Not a very exciting selection, until you taste their sauce and their meatballs are delicious. Wait staff was awesome, other than bringing our main entrees before our salads. Dress code is laid back, casual. I would recommend this place anytime and I can't wait to come back. read more
