Stopped in on a Sat night in Sept. We found a few seats in 2nd bar ,which is called the tequila bar ...outside seating under a huge Well lit Beech tree was packed ...the whole place is huge with 3 different bars Got the chips and salsa with a side order of guacamole which was very fresh and tasty ...My only issue was the chips weren't at least warm. A nice thin lightly salted chip that's been heated is the best ever. Entrees were a salad with guacamole and shrimp that I'm told was good. When visiting Cape Cod, my friend and family went out to Anejo for dinner. This place came highly recommended so I was excited to try it out. They don't do reservations so you have to wait in line for a certain duration depending on when you get there. We only have to wait for 30 minutes or so. The service and food were excellent. Personally I have been to a lot of Mexican restaurants and this is definitely a more American Mexican type of restaurant. The place was beautiful I will say however, it was so loud in there my friend and I were having a difficult time try to talk to each other. We also didn't know that the area with the tree was in a separate building, that would have been something nice to know. Onto the food, I will say our entrees were pretty good. My friend had fajitas and I have enchiladas, both of use were pretty satisfied. The nachos was okay, not anything special. Our waitress was nice, we didn't really get checked on but it was also a busy day when we went. Majority of the staff were pretty nice and helpful as well. read more

Solid Mexican restaurant on Main street in Hyannis. The food was excellent, quac and questions were both excellent. Chips hot and delicious. The mushroom enchiladas were some of the best i have ever had. Fresh, large mushrooms, creamy cheese sauce, beans and rice. Service was excellent too. We sat outside and ot rained and not anywhere to go though. We grabbed our food and ran to an overhang to eat. Place was packed and very loud and popular. Over a 2 hour wait inside. But I get it. Food was probably the most disappointing. Queso was grainy. Not sure why that was a thing. Why not creamy? Tuna sliders were ok but the chip under to support was stale. The birria quesadilla was decent. Margaritas were big and full of lots of stuff that was not alcohol. Bummer considering the reviews. Exceeded expectations! The carne asada plate has a great smoky flavor and the bang bang shrimp was AMAZING! That plate was gone in under a minute possibly. Wow!! This place was such a great experience. Located in downtown Hyannis it is the perfect place to get lunch, dinner or just drinks. My friends and I had a really great time at Anejo in Cape Cod. This is a really beautiful restaurant and we went on a Saturday and sat outdoors. Their outdoor space is incredible and the vibes were perfect with cute lights and decorations amidst the perfect weather. My friend and I split the tres tacos ($19), which were small, but really flavorful with carne asada, carnitas, and pollo elotes. I really enjoyed them. We also got queso ($7), which was divine and is one of my favorite dishes. They give out free chips and salsa too! We were very pleased with how flavorful everything was. This place was one of the highlights of our trip, despite sub par service. The ambiance under the tree was beautiful. The drinks and food were delicious, and it was mostly family friendly with many young kids and my 5 year old finishing her entire cheese quesadilla (which would earn an automatic three stars from me regardless lol). They lose a star for service and systems though-we waited about 40 minutes for a table at 545pm-understandable, and not a big deal as we walked the streets/shops during that time. However, when we arrived 5 minutes after being texted that our table was ready, we arrived to be told they were "cleaning our table"by the host. We waited an additional 15 minutes and then were taken to a completely not clean table? There was food and drinks left, I was so grateful to be seated so cleared the food with a tissue but then the server just seemed rushed and harried the whole time. I'd still definitely recommend this place, I just think servers and hosts can be trained better (while we were waiting the additional time for the table the young hosts-at least 3-just basically weren't paying attention to anything g except themselves and gossiping amongst themselves). Also of note is the adorable gift shop, the check out person didn't respond well to basic courtesy or small talk so it definitely seems like they are skating by on their food and drinks which will get them far bc they're very good! We arrived yesterday just before Añejo Mexican Bistro opened for lunch at 11:30, giving us a chance to admire the famous weeping beech tree out back -- a stunning spot for al fresco dining in warmer weather. Once inside, we were promptly seated and greeted by our server, Meghan, who brought chilled water and took our drink orders: a Dos Equis Lager and a Down East Cider. A generous basket of chips and salsa followed -- crisp, flavorful, and just the right start. For lunch, we each ordered the Tres Tacos: Carne Asada, Carnitas, and Pollo Elotes. Each taco was distinct and delicious, with house-made spicy pickles adding a perfect kick. Meghan was attentive and knowledgeable, gracefully assisting other tables while making us feel well cared for. The interior was warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed -- a lovely place to linger. Let me just say, this is a restaurant for tourists. It's beautiful inside and out on their patio. The patio was actually a longer wait, so we opted to sit inside. The drinks here are hit or miss. My husband got the namesake Anejo and it did not disappoint. Very strong and flavorful, well-worth the price. I got the strawberry coconut, and I understand it's a "skinny" version, but there was very little alcohol and flavor to this. Don't waste your money on this drink. The service was also a bit slow. It took forever for a server to come and take our order. I was almost going to give up after 15 mins. And our section wasn't even that busy. The couple next to us was leaving, and several parties already had food. This is pretty bad considering they're trying to be "upscale" Mexican. For the food... it was only ok. The complimentary chips and salsa was woefully underseasoned. Chips leaning towards overfried. We both got tacos -- I had the trio while my husband opted for carne asada. Prices were ok, but again underseasoned. I did not like the carne asada as it lacked a lot of flavor (not just salt! like actual flavor). The carnitas were tasty but were drowning in oil when I took it off the plate. The chicken needed a bit more salt. Honestly not a very authentic Mexican restaurant, but if you want a pretty place to snack or have drinks, I would come here. read more

Cute and vibey. Apparently turns into a lounge/club place at night but very clean and nice. Went on Sunday in January and they were well staffed. I think we were the start of a lunch rush (off the ferry). Service was quick and food didn't take long. Salsa and guac with our chips were very fresh tasting. Salsa wasn't too spicy. We got a second basket of chips and salsa just before we got to the bottom of our first basket which was nice. I got the tres tacos. Definitely suggest. You get a mix of the tacos. Anejos has been a favorite for many years as a year round resident on Cape Cod. Today's experience was very disappointing . The ambiance and service was great outside under the tree on a perfect weather day. However the Mahi Mahi tacos , our favorite item, were skimpy the piece of fish in Each taco was so small and had no flavor, supposed to be blackened. The amount of fish in the 3 tacos was about equal to what was in one taco. I know everything is more expensive but this was ridiculous. I wish I had taken a picture to prove my point read more

Went there recently for supper to celebrate a birthday. There were eight adults, three kids and two infants in our party. The entire staff was very helpful and really seemed committed to making our visit memorable. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. They brought the table a couple baskets of fresh, warm tortilla ships and a very nice thick-ish salsa that had a kick but was not overwhelming. The food was very good and the atmosphere was relaxed and a bit upscale at the same time. People ordered a bit of everything off the menu and everyone raved about the food. I had the (three) chicken tacos and they were very good and were generously proportioned. I also had some of their guacamole, which was very good and was a bit chunky with ingredients, which I really appreciate (instead of it being made in a food processor). I tried the chicken nachos, which were a disappointment - very little chicken and lots of lettuce and some pico de gallo and maybe a little bit of queso but not much else - they could definitely improve on this menu item. Five people had drinks at the table and everyone enjoyed them and the margaritas I saw looked very impressive. Not sure who in our party ordered the churros for dessert but I was glad they did - nicely crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside - an excellent ending to a very good meal. Very nice atmosphere and very good food. Oh, there is a ~250 year-old weeping beech tree there that is very unusual and VERY big - an absolutely gorgeous tree. Parking is up and down Main Street - can be tough depending on the season and time of day but there is a public parking lot not far away that you can park at for free, plus there are lots of shops on the street if you want to get some shopping in. read more

Decided to try Anejo in Hyannis for my wife's birthday. We have been to the Falmouth location, but this location is roomier and you have the big beech tree out if you decide to sit out back. There were four of us for dinner, and we showed up right before 5PM and were greeted and sat down immediately indoors as it was too cold to sit outside. Our waitress came by with chips and salsa which we devoured. She was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable whenever we had any questions. We started out with drinks two Cucumber Margaritas, Espresso Martini, and a glass of wine. All drinks were very tasty and reasonably priced. We shared the Spicy Fried Pickles for an appetizer. They were crispy and full of flavor and the dipping sauce was good as well. I ended up getting the carne asada taco's. There were three of them and very flavorful, the meat was juicy even though I got them without the avocado sauce (allergic to avacodos). Our son in law got the birria quesadilla, dear daughter ordered a bowl of refried beans, and a bowl of mexican street corn, and finally my wife ordered the carnitas verde burrito plate. The food was sooooo good and plentiful. We did not leave hungry. We finished the celebration meal with four shots of chilled Casamigos tequila.
