Kind of disgusting inside, could not get the attention of the bartender to be seated, although there were only two patrons inside and one outside. Finally, I went out and came back in a different entrance, and went right up to him and said, is it possible to get a table outside and he said, why not just sit inside. Not to be eaten at a table. Upon me unwrapping it, one end was able to be eaten as if it were a burrito. The other half was/ had to be open faced with fork/ knife. Prices were decent. Dinner with The Honey. Promptly seated and attended to by a very pleasant server. Complimentary freshly made chips with an excellent salsa - flavorful without being needlessly hot. (We're told the salsa is made to order.) I chose the Burrito with beef, The Honey, the Quesadilla with chicken. Both very generously portioned and delicious. I've been to this place twice. The first time Was a couple years ago. We had went there and ate, food wasn't bad but we were rushed. It was about 2 hours prior to closing. We ordered something to go as well. They forgot the order, although put it on the bill. Then told us the grill was now off so they wouldn't make It. They wanted to give us a credit with the restaurant but said we had to come back the following day (so convenient from a tourist perspective). Visited again a few nights ago. They were busy but not crazy. We were initially sat at a high top bar like table. No menus were given to us . Then we asked to move to a table that we saw open. They said yes, we sat for 15 minutes looking at menus..waiting. Waitress said she would be back in a few and would bring water. Another 5-7 minutes goes by and this young kid comes and slams The waters down on table, no words..just leaves. We waited another few minutes for someone to come take our order. I could see the waitress walking around. Other people around us being acknowledged. We got up and left after almost 25 minutes of just water for dinner. I thanked the waitress for the delicious water on the way out and yelled to the manager that they might want to help out instead of stand in the corner. Good service starts with good management. By far one of the best tacos I have ever had! The smoked brisket and pork were so tender, cooked and seasoned perfect. Every bite was amazing. The homemade tortilla was delicious. My Husband got the smoked brisket fajita, every bite was perfect. We also got tuna Tatar tostada, which was piled high with tuna underneath guacamole, delicious! Another great meal at Southside tonite. My husband and I split the Fajita ($22) with/an extra protein ($7) side. We had the brisket and the carne asada. The brisket is to die for! Really clear the people responsible for "the cook" know what they are doing. Drinks were great just took a bit to get to us from bar. The Fajita is more than enough for 2 especially with the yummy tortilla chips. And who knew there is a nice cream spot 1 door down that has quite the following:):). Enjoy!!! read more

Simply outstanding Mexican on Cape Cod. You will be amazed and truly stunned at the simplicity and the exquisiteness of what you are served. We started with the pozole rojo which is a stew that is based in braised pork with hominy and red chili. Then cilantro radish, onion and cabbage top it off. This is a one of a kind and was perfect to dip chips into and have spoonfuls of. It was really that amazing and really had us in that mode of being on the outskirts of a Mexican town. We were then served our dinners, I had the chicken street tacos and Rebecca had the marinated chicken burrito. Again, we were just overwhelmed by the detail and the remarkable tastes that appeared. I have never had tacos like these anywhere, they were perfectly prepared with a ton of cilantro and perfectly fresh tortillas. The pickled cabbage slaw was something new to me but oh so good, and the chihuahua and white cheddar on the beans as a side dish with the tacos was perfect. The marinated chicken burrito was also, as no surprise, a complete stunner. With just the right amount of sauce over it, even it's smell was perfect. So this turned out to be one of the most truly original meals we have had in quite some time. We plan to return as soon as we can. read more

I was super excited to have a taco spot right on lower county,but I don't think that is what this place wants to be... Some positives. -Large Restaurant -Outside Dining -LOTS of drink options (21+) All of my negative have to do with the food what i ordered. -House taco, hard shell.ground meat. Wasn't bad but was greasy. Like really greasy. Really just tasted like tacos you made at home -Street Taco,Carnitas & Carne Asada I appreciate a freshly made taco shell but these were huge,thick & Doubled which threw me off completely. If you ever had a street taco they are tiny, like two bites tiny. Both were smothered in salsa I took a bite of the carnita and it was really sweet. I wanted to spit it out. I wasn't sure if they put pineapple on the taco if what but it was really gross. I tried the carne asada and the same thing. WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A SWEET SALSA VERDE????? It should at least say that on the menu so I would know NOT to order it. Anyways, I wish the salsa came on the side so I didn't have to be blindsided like that. So those were a fail. -Burrito,Chicken. When it came out and I went to take a photo it wasn't hot or even warm to touch. So I already knew something was up. I took a bite and it tasted like a chicken wrap from a deli. So I opened it to try everything inside. The chicken was dry and cold. Beans tasted like nothing and clearly weren't braised.so much shredded lettuce when I finally found the rice it tasted like something out if a bag idk why it comes with just chips, like why wouldn't it come it chips and salsa, who just eats plain chips?? -Grapfuirt soda was giving to me warm, I had to ask for a cup of ice.... This place is the prime example of why people should open restaurants if they have no knowledge of the cuisine they are serving not to mention they were playing reggae, jamacian reggae at a Mexican restaurant. My husband and I were really excited to get Mexican while on vacation on the Cape. We ended up finding Southside Cantina through a Google search and called to see if it we would need reservations, since this is a pretty busy time of year and the town we're staying in seems very busy with families. We went at 6:00PM and got right in because of the plethora of available seating inside and out; despite being busy with other customers. Our server was wonderful. She even brought over a kids covered cup of water for our 2.5 year old without us having even settled into our seats. She took care of all of my husband and my requests for omissions or additions (allergies) to our orders. We got everything exactly as we ordered, which was a wonderful start. We loved the street corn appetizer and thoroughly enjoyed both of our meals. My husband opted for three street tacos (chicken, brisket and carne asada) and I got a "smothered" brisket burrito. Both meals were flavorful and portions were absolutely massive. I cannot stress the size of these meals enough. The burrito has easily become two meals and despite the tacos looking small; my husband was totally full as he was finishing his last one. Where to start. June 28th 2020 with Covid-19 restrictions. The new restaurant looks great and feels ready for a great summer. The wait was short and the experience was great. 1. Owner Tony is hands on and always helping and working. 2. Bartender Ryan makes the best and freshest margaritas on the Cape. 3. Server Jake did a great job with our table from extra salsa to more margs. We ordered the Carne Asada quesadilla and it was enough for 2 people and the best quesadilla on the cape right now. The tacos were fresh and great, pork mango was solid, the cod was fresh and extremely tasty. The house carne asada taco had some sour cream on it which I feel is necessary for any #1 taco. It was phenomenal. This restaurant is super new and they are working hard to perfect the craft. Our negatives were that the queso dip was average at best (hope the chef revisits the recipe). Place is pretty divey, which is fine, but I expected better food. We ordered the street corn, which was yummy, but my burrito was burned and the paper/foil stuff was stuck to it and wouldn't come off. They have us a high chair for our toddler, but it was broken, so not entirely helpful. The floor is half unfinished, I don't know what is up with that. Our server was excellent, attentive and fast. This place was walking distance to our rental house for the weekend, so thought we'd give it a try. Mostly everyone in our parties Margaritas were straight tequila and were terrible and overpriced. The food seemed decent but one of us ordered a quesadilla and they came out with this giant pizza looking thing covered with lettuce which we couldn't get through cause it was so bad. I want to preface by saying, the food is absolutely top notch. It was really well prepared and came out relatively quick. We had the giant quesadilla and a variety of house / street tacos and they were all delicious. Now for the real reason behind the 2 stars (and I really don't do it lightly). We arrived around 8pm on a Sunday night, as our first time in the Cape we went off of the stellar reviews and thought we were in for a great experience. Right out the gate we were "greeted" by a host who couldn't have cared less about seating us. No pleasantries. Just said hi and brought us to a table without a word. Apparently the business model here is more fast casual than sit down but no one had told us, you need to place your orders at the bar and they will be brought out to you. Took us 15 minutes of sitting around to get that memo. After placing our order the food came out pretty quickly but we had no drinks. After eating the quesadilla appetizer, still no drinks. We had to go up to the bar and at that point the drinks had been sitting there for quite some time apparently as they were pisswarm. No service to speak of. Margaritas tasted like pure sour mix, garbage drinks. But the real issue was the identity of the establishment. Are they a party bar ? Are they a restaurant ? They sure don't know because when we arrived it felt like a college party. I wouldn't have a problem if i wanted to party, i just wanted a nice dinner with some life. the line for the bar patrons was the same used to order food, so waiting to place a food order or closeout a tab took about half an hour altogether. The staff were doing their best but clearly overwhelmed. The patrons were extremely rowdy and there was a lovely live performer who unfortunately was being drowned out by the crowd of obnoxious, rude, drunken patrons. Not really the ambience you want to be dining in. Overall I was really disappointed and would not return. read more

We met the owner who delivered our delicious food, you could tell he takes pride into his restaurant and is involved in it. Friendly and professional staff as well - We went on a Wednesday night. It was busy but no wait. I heard the weekends are very busy! Good for them. The Chips and salsa DELICIOUS the owner makes all chips to order along with the shells. I ordered the hard shell ground beef taco and my husband ordered the shareable quesadilla ... both delicious. He had a few beers and I had a mango lemonade it was so good. We also had the chips and salsa as an app and our bill was $39. Bathrooms are private one person at a time. Which was nice. Automatic paper towel despiser which people since covid seem concerned about since they don't want to touch too many things Overall this place is somewhere I'd go back in a second Hopefully we can make it down on a weekend as well. Big spacious ceilings so I can imagine it doesn't get hot inside either ! They do have a good off street parking lot as well. Pictures never so justice for me but I added a few ! No. Bueno. The "grilled" Street corn was cold. The chicken tacos disintegrated on the plate, and using a fork was the only way to eat them. The flour tortilla, on the burrito, was cold, stiff and seemingly days old. The burrito came with tortilla chips and salsa. Chips were good, but the salsa tasted sour and had an odd tang to it. Next time I'll read ALL the reviews before I venture into a new place. All that glitters isn't gold. read more

First off the attack on me personally from the owner/manager just exemplifies the lack of professionalism we are dealing with here. Poor quality and execution cannot be rectified on the spot. Being a small business owner myself and having family owned restaurants out of state in operation and dining with my spouse who collectively has 15 years of restaurant industry experience, we are not intent on destroying new restaurants in fact we are determined to promote good and new restaurants. If you had taken the initiative to read my reviews you can clearly see there are amazing reviews that are well thought out and forwardly honest. We had no problems with the service and we do understand the industry is struggling with covid restrictions however this is no excuse to overcharge for substandard, ill prepared food. I very clearly asked the server if the corn tortillas on the hard tacos were hand fried or pre formed. She said they were hand fried and they were most definitely not. The food we ordered were tacos, what was suggested to us. They just didn't cut it at all. Normally I would give an establishment the benefit of the doubt believing that it could have been an off day however, I will not support a restaurant that is owned and operated by someone who is so unprofessional. First time coming to Southside Cantina. My girlfriend and I dined with Lauren, awesome server - gave great recommendations and was fun to talk to. We ordered Carne Asada and Chicken soft shell street tacos which were dressed fantastically and tasted even better. I'm a fan of the fresh made corn tortilla because it provides awesome structure for the taco (also gluten free). Dinner was a pork burrito and chicken burrito. Fantastically wrapped, melted in mouth. Margaritas were strong & great tasting in my opinion. Too bad we can't enjoy the dance floor (thanks Covid) but the great news is this will be an awesome spot once MA is re-opened. The staff is incredibly friendly and tries incredibly hard to be accommodating. We traveled with 9, 2, and 4 mo olds. They welcomed us with open arms. However the queso was incredibly separated and oily. The house marg was straight tequila, and the chicken was chewy. I got a large piece of fat gaged and nearly threw up. The chips were decent. This spot is exactly what Dennis needed. Casual taco bar with solid drink options and well thought out menu. I was jealous of every single thing a waitress walked by with. We chose this place because it was close to our condo. Not a great restaurant. We had queso for an appetizer and it was okay but overpriced. The quesadillas were pretty good. But they charged extra for carne asada and barely put any on there. The biggest complaint we had was that they charged per refill of soda. We stumbled across this place when my husband and I went to check out the Beach Shack on Shad Hole Road that went in where my beloved Bastian's used to be (I worked there one summer when I was in college, so had lots of great memories of Bastian's). Southside Cantina is in same small plaza. The ambiance was fabulous. I loved the brightly colored beautiful lanterns and just everything about the look and feel of the place. Very spacious. Nice bar. Staff welcoming and, someone maybe owner or actual chef, went out of his way to mention a great enchilada special. We were there mid-afternoon on a weekday so very few people in there. It was some of the best, if not, the best Mexican food I ever had. I got the shareable shrimp quesadilla and loved everything about it. It came served like a pizza. It was so thin and crispy and yummy and had lettuce and tomato sprinkled on top. The two types of cheese inside were delicious and I loved the fact that the shrimp inside were char-broiled (who bothers to do that) and well-seasoned. Quick weekend getaway with the hubs for our anniversary and we decided to stop at one of our old haunts on the way to our resort. Much to our surprise, there's a new place there now - the Southside Cantina. Open only a few days by the time we got there, it was very clean, newly painted with some newer features in the building, including a renovated bar. We were seated right away. Two friendly people at the host stand and our server, Jake. He gave us paper menus (thanks, COVID-19) for food and drinks. Tables were spaced safely and even without a lot of people in the building, it was a lively atmosphere. I ordered a mojito made with Privateer Silver (on Jake's recommendation) with cucumber jalapeño syrup. Hubs had a mudslide. Both drinks arrived quickly and were delish! My mojito was perfection. Loved the combo of cucumber and jalapeño. For food, we had queso dip & chips for an appetizer. The chips (and all corn tortillas) are made in house. They were warm and not salty. Jake told us that the chips and the corn tortillas are made daily so everything is always fresh. For lunch I ordered a fried cod fish taco and a pork carnita taco, both with soft shells. We waited about 10-15 minutes max for our food. The cod was fried with a light batter that complimented the flaky, fresh fish. The pork was flavored well. I think the only complaint I had was that the tortillas couldn't hold the taco ingredients and I ate both with a fork. That's not a knock on the tortillas. There was just so much food in each of them. Hubs had a shareable quesadilla made with carne asada. It was huge and he was only able to eat a few pieces of it. He loved the flavor of the meat and took it to go. (Side note - we snacked on it over the weekend.) Overall, I'd highly suggest a trip to the Southside Cantina.
