Walked in on a crazy busy Friday night. Seated inside straight away. Services was slower due to the crowd, but the food on point. I had the pork carnitas adobo. First hits sweet then a little heat follows. The flavors of pineapple, plantain, and spices is magic. Wifey went mahi mahi and really enjoyed it. Kids had various tacos. Every time we come we remember the flavors aren't like any place else we've been. Nothing we can recreate at home. Just makes it special. read more

We used the join waitlist feature on the Fourth of July and had about a 30 minute wait. It's great because you can check back and see where you stand in line. When we arrived, I ordered the mango habanero margarita, which was very strong. I actually couldn't finish it. The chips and salsa were amazing! I ordered the taco salad with chicken which was very good! My husband ordered the black bean and chorizo soup as well as the shrimp and avocado salad. He said it was excellent! We sat outside and it as a beautiful day. We would definitely go again. read more

What a lovely environment. We sat in the back under a giant tree and surrounded by chic, modern decor that was friendly and inviting. The food was very good. The salad was a sizable portion and tasty but did have a lot of dressing. The Baja tacos were covered in a delicious sauce but the fish could have used more seasoning. The tres tacos were delicious and offered a nice sampler of the menu. The service was quick and attentive for how busy it was. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants on this strip and for quality, ambiance and portion, this is in my own opinion the best place. Would recommend. read more

A spectacular restaurant in downtown Hyannis. We stopped by on our way to see Los Lobos and were stunned by the attention to detail from the restaurant. The food was simply outstanding, I had the steak tacos and Rebecca had an unbelievable chicken chimichanga. The bartender was easily the finest we have had on the cape with just excellent conversation and knowing exactly what was where and all that, total top shelf. The atmosphere in the place is quite remarkable, it looks just perfect and luxurious but is definitely user friendly all over. It was remarkable to see them go from 4-5pm and see the whole place just fill up. It was a wonderful debut to us from them and we will hopefully be back there as soon as we can. read more

Came by for Memorial Day weekend and it was packed! We were able to get a table around 9pm on Saturday after about a 15 min wait. We ordered drinks at the bar while we waited and the mango margarita was pretty good! Once we were seated we ordered a few apps. The corn off the cob had an up charge to "take it off the cob," it was actually just corn kernels with some cheese. I would not recommend it, it was terrible. We also had the calamari & fried plantains. Both were delicious! Highly recommend both of those apps, especially the plantains. We also had micheladas and they were quite spicy. Reasonably priced and bar service was good even though they were slammed. The tree makes this place. Always a fun time and the rating is really more for the ambiance & service. read more

This place is amazing! Wait time: it was a beautiful Saturday night so we (2 ppl) planned on there being a long wait to sit under outside under the tree. We arrived at 6:15 and were told the wait was 1.25-1.5 hours long, so we popped into stores on the Main Street. We ended up getting called for our table at 7:00, so only a 45 minutes wait! Food: we have been here before and we love the food! Chips and salsa are brought to the table, and then we ordered queso and the elote corn. Each was great, and we wish we got a second order of the corn! For entrees, we got the chicken enchiladas and tres tacos which were amazing. The rice with the enchiladas had a little kick to it. Then for dessert, we got fried ice cream. It was very good, ratio of ice cream to whip cream / fried dough was a little off - would've preferred more ice cream though. A lot of bites were just whip cream and dough, but still tasted fantastic. Drinks: we got the Añejo and the jalapeño guava margarita, which were both amazing. Service: service was good. A little slow, but understandable given how busy it is. Atmosphere: it was amazing. It was a beautiful night, the place is well decorated, and sitting under the tree is always a great spot. read more

Stopped into Anejo for their "Taco Tuesday" deal and left happy. This was my first dining experience in their new lounge area, which was really cool. It's very vibey in there- dark patterned wallpaper, a velvet couch in the waiting area, some pops of neon pink. Great atmosphere! Our server was funny and helpful, our food came out quickly and was delicious. My friend and I sampled all the tacos on the $3 taco menu, lots of unique flavors and a good way to get a filling meal for cheap! Anejo is a perfect spot for girls night out or a date! read more

This is the best Mexican-inspired food I've had. My wife and I ate here with a large group, so we got to try a little bit of everything. Among our samplings: Chipotle Beef Chimichanga, Pollo Elotes Tacos, Chorizo Fundido, and Spicy Fried Pickles. Everything was outstanding, especially the chimichanga and fried pickles. While the food and table service were great, the bar service was bizarre. My wife (29) and I ordered drinks while waiting for dinner. We were happy to provide IDs when requested to do so. The bartender informed us they needed two forms of ID for service. My wife didn't have her credit cards with her because I had mine, so she only had her ID. The bartender started to berate my wife for not having an alternate form of ID. My wife canceled her drink order since she didn't have an alternate ID. The bartender continued to question her about why she wasn't carrying at least a credit or debit card, then turned magnanimous and told my wife she'd "let it slide this time" and served her. I don't understand why the bartender would insist on this policy only to ultimately violate it, after my wife canceled her drink order. Overall, this bartender's approach was way too intense in a situation that didn't call for it and didn't make a good first impression. I'm glad we stuck around and had a nice dinner, but these are the sorts of situations that cause people to take their business elsewhere. read more

We spent a weekend in Hyannis, shoulder season. Went here for dinner Saturday night. I would hate to see what the wait is like in summer! But it's well worth the wait regardless... We had about a 40 minute wait for dinner outside under the majestic beech tree, luckily there are 3 bars to enjoy a drink and complimentary (delicious) salsa and chips while waiting. We went to the tequila bar and it was adorable! Very big on aesthetic, the insta-cutie generation loved this space! Seated in a shorter time than promised, we got queso with bacon to start. The queso wasn't spicy and in my opinion there was too much bacon. (I know- who ever said this??) It wasn't bad but I wouldn't necessarily order it again. The reason why I wouldn't is because I then ordered a small salad and the birria quesadilla with beef. This was truly delicious and I could barely eat any because I was full of cheese & chips (and bacon). My date got 3 tacos all different fillings and said they were delicious also. But the tree. Definitely recommend but if you are looking to go for 6/7o'clock make sure you get there early to put your name down. Incredible dinner here ! I got one of the best Salmon dishes I have ever had. It comes with crispy saffron risotto which was TO DIE FOR!!! My Fiancé got the beef chimichanga and loved it. The drinks are balanced and tasty. The atmosphere is cool and laid back. Don't get the Queso lol. That was the only miss. It wasn't smooth and creamy it was weirdly gritty and lacked flavor. I was in town for business from So. Cal and was looking for a good place to eat dinner and wind down with co workers. This place was recommended to us and it hit the spot. Ambiance was on point. Clean, modern and inviting. Server was attentive and food selection was plentiful. Ordered a Paloma and it was outstanding. Top 5, very memorable. Food portion was just right. Food items seem to have a little fusion vibe to it; ie. sweet potatoes with chorizo (a must try). Reasonably priced. This place was packed on a Saturday night even at 9 PM. We only had to wait 15 minutes for our table though which was good. I got the house margarita with a Grand Mariner floater since they didn't have a separate Cadillac margarita. The margarita was pretty good. The salsa that came with the chips tasted like tomato paste and didn't have much flavor. The nachos were huge and was more of a taco salad on top of a few chips. We temporarily relocated to the Cape for work and live out of a hotel which essentially means we will become very well acquainted with Hyannis' restaurant scene. It became evident very early on that Anejo was a highly recommended and popular spot. At around the same time, it became evident that this place is harder to get into than the White House. The first time we attempted to dine here was a Friday night in August at around 7:30pm which honestly was stupid as fuck and the wait was 90 minutes but what the fuck did we expect? Anejo playing hard to get just solidified our determination and we tried again that following Monday at around 6:30. The wait was 45 min. Did I mention that we don't wait? Sigh. They had us wrapped around their little finger at this point. Desperation emanated from every pore and we returned the following Tuesday aka THE NEXT DAY at mother fucking 5:30pm with intermittent RAIN and much to my surprise there were plenty of empty tables. We were seated under the iconic beech tree that's like older than the earth itself or something. I have to say, I don't know what is poisoning the water in CC these days but the service every single place we have been has been absolutely excellent and this place was no different. Our server was personable, friendly, and took excellent care of us. Because of the excessive eating out, I need to watch my fucking calories. I adore the fact that they have a skinny cocktail menu because you know I'm not going to cut out the alcohol. I ordered the pineapple jalapeño skinny marg and GF the blood orange skinny marg. They were both delicious and both had a nice kick. Despite the gen Z girl diner at the table next to us' view that spicy drinks are "absolutely disgusting" (genuinely wondering whether this girl is old enough to drink lmao), I respectfully disagree. You would never know they were "skinny". Their menu deviates somewhat from the standard Mexican-restaurant-in-Amurica fare, Instead of a gazillion things, the menu is smaller but more defined and had a twist, including fried pickles, for example. Most categories had some vegetarian options. GF and I decided to do a splitsies with our ordering and shared everything. I am THE OG NACHO BITCH so despite the shit I said before about dieting, I had to try theirs which we noted immediately was more of an LA distribution (GF prefers to describe it as "communist" nachos) which means a very thin layer of chips where every chip is covered with toppings. At Anejo, the toppings include refried beans, lettuce (which unfortunately is the boring iceberg), Oaxaca-jack cheese, pickled jalapeño, cortina cheese, picante crema (which is SEX btw), pico de gallo (kindly placed on the side at my request), and guacamole is stated on the menu but this is fake news because there was none of that shit. Nevertheless, the nachos were fantastic. They must have special nacho chips because they are the biggest tortilla chips I have ever seen, I kid you not, they are like the size of a pizza and hold so many toppings!!! GENIUS. This shit was fucking delicious. We also shared the Coliflor Frita tacos with crispy habanero cauliflower, corn tortillas, blue cheese dressing, onion, cilantro, and golden raisins. We were warned that the cauliflower is spicy, it's not and I'm as white as they come. We questioned the inclusion of golden raisins in a cauliflower taco but it works. The tacos come with their spicy fried pickles on the side which is a plus. The pickles are not "fried" with a breading in the traditional sense, I'm not sure why they are called "fried" because they are essentially just seasoned pickled slices. The diet comes in with our order of the La Casa salad with mixed greens, tomato, avocado, cortina cheese, onion, cucumber, and a spiced lime vinaigrette. I adored this salad. It had all of the fresh Mexican flavors in a healthier package and I felt better about myself after eating it. Finally, we also ordered a side of their rice and beans. The beans are good but a touch too salty for my taste. The rice has that mouthwatering rice seasoning and goes down easy. I would also like to say the chips and salsa they give you are also incredible. The chips are normal sized but crispy and some of the best tortilla chips I've had. The salsa is also less chunky, which I prefer, but provides an incredible flavor. You already know that the ambiance of this place under that ancient tree is something special and unique that you can't get anywhere else. I also just noticed that you can add yourself to the waitlist on their website so now I can live there. read more

So good, when we return to the Cape thru out the year. We frequently stop at Añejo. Most of the year it's open till 10pm, the food and service is fabulous. Tres Enchiladas and Burritos are the best. So consistent. But, I recently deviated and ordered the pork shank dinner. Upon receiving it, I took one bit; it was lukewarm. I asked the sever to have the kitchen heat up again. The manager immediately came to us apologizing and he stated due to training new kitchen help they were remaking the dinner. Waiting for the dinner they gave us complimentary drink. When we got our bill they took 1/2 the dinner off the bill. We told them that was completely unnecessary! That's customer service and that is why we go out of our way to go there! They do not take reservations. You can add your name to their waitlist online before you go to try and reduce wait time. I came here on a Saturday in August at 6:00pm and the wait was 1hr and 45min. We ended up only waiting 1.30min. While you wait there are tons of couches so the time past by quickly as we grabbed a drink at the bar and waited comfortably. The food is good. Not amazing but probably one of the better Mexican places on Cape Cod. The prices are $$$ ($15 for a margarita) but you are paying for the atmosphere. You really can't go wrong if you are coming here with a group. As the night goes on it gets more and more fun. Especially in the back dinning area by the big tree. The service is not great but again, it's all about the atmosphere at this place. read more

We LOVE anemia. Which is crazy because we usually don't love Tex mex. We have been to the location in Falmouth plenty of times. This location is just as good and if not better because the ambience outside is so nice. This is definitely a great place for brunch or date night. The menu is the same and consistently good so I would say apps wise the lobster taquitos are the star. The corn slaw with crema really brightens the dish. It is perfect to share. For entrees I always get the mole chicken. I love everything about this rise. The rice. The beans. The rich mole sauce. The chicken is always very tender. The fajitas are good too. I have tried a handful of tacos each time and they are just ok. I would stick to main entrees. The portion sizes are also really large so if you are visiting without a fridge for leftovers ... definitely bring a friend or two to share with. read more
