Walking into this parlor you just feel like you're in an authentic, traditional Italian bakery. We ordered a cannoli cake, stracciatella and pistachio gelato, and a piece of rainbow cookie. They have a ton of good-looking flavors to choose from, as well as the classic style of Italian ices. I went with a small with the safe, standard Stracciatella, which was excellent, and also tried the Chocolate Almond, which was a million times better. The chocolate was nice and creamy and it had full pieces of almonds in it, whichever for an excellent taste. Definitely one of the best flavors of gelato I've had. This is a nice shop that is a perfect place to stop in for a little dessert. They have plenty of seating with several tables and chairs. I was lucky enough to live in Mid City for several years and became a regular at Brocatos. I've tried every single gelato flavor and love them all. They're so rich and creamy. When in season, the strawberry ice is amazing. I also love their pastries. If you're into taramisu, do yourself a favor and have a slice at Brocatos with a cappuccino. It is my winter go to desert. This place is so steeped in tradition that I'd go just to look around. It's small but quaint and so old fashioned. If you do, you'll find jewels like Angelo Brocatos. This is an ice cream gelato place as authentic as they come. Flavors are homemade family recipes from previous generations. It's been hard for me to find good tiramisu anywhere so I really wanted to see how good it was. I ordered the tiramisu and skipped the gelato and let me tell youuuu!!! When it comes to desserts, I usually take 3-4 bites and that's it for me (just because that's all I really want to take the craving away). I COULDN'T just take 3-4 bites! I ate the wholeee thing! Locals already know, so visitors hit this institution up on the way to or from City Park, for some of the best dessert in town year round. It's been for generations, that's a great sign all on its own. Unlike most snowball stands, Angelo Brocato's is open all year round so you can get your fix of gelato or spumoni anytime, yeah you right! This place can get busy and parking can be tricky but don't let that be a deal breaker. Also it's right on a streetcar line so that could be an option. The prices are reasonable and the taste is big. Brocato's makes some of the best, if not THE best around. Ask for yours with or without pistachios. I love this place. It is not that easy to find Casata outside of the Northeast. Try the Casata and a sfogiatelle instead of just a canolli.
