Pizza only, take-out only review. Been here multiple times now, and each time has been excellent. Cheese, sausage/onion, Hawaiian, etc. I'm a Chicago native but not a deep dish purist. To that end, many New Haven style/Connecticut pizza tastes like burnt cat food. Angelos does not taste like burnt cat food. It's tasty pizza. You should get it. It will make your mouth happy. Also, I think the restaurant portion is shut down. Food for thought given the extensive number of 1 star restaurant reviews from years ago that would no longer apply. read more

The pasta dish I got was something that anyone could've gone to Walmart and bought the cheapest noodles, and cheapest sauce and made the same thing. Disappointingly bland and low quality. Pizza places are interesting. Like a sports team that someone follows, people tend to find their favorite pizza place, and then they don't go anywhere else. I, on the other hand, like all kinds of pizza (including frozen) and am happy to branch out and try new places. A few months ago a friend ordered a pizza from here and I immediately fell in love. When trying a new pizza place, I like to try a plain cheese because it lets you taste the core ingredients of a pizza without toppings like pepperoni masking the flavor underneath. The crust, to me, was the perfect thickness, and the sauce was a delight to my tastebuds. It had a slightly sweet taste. I'm not a chef and don't know what gave it that flavor, but whatever it is, I liked it! This may not be well known, but they actually have their sauce available for purchase in glass jars, and it's so popular, it's even available to buy at grocery stores in the area. In addition to pizza, they offer salads, soup, grinders, paninis, and burgers plus entrees like ziti, shells, chicken marsala and more. Interestingly, there are 2 parts to Angelo's restaurant. They have a sit down restaurant, which is what I thought the restaurant was, but they also have a take out-only area that's separate from the main restaurant. If you order a pizza to go, you go to the take out side to pick it up. You can't eat it on the take out side. The sit down restaurant is currently closed, but will hopefully open up soon because that menu has some great dishes I'd like to try. If someone is looking for a new pizza place to try and haven't been to Angelo's, I highly recommend they give it a try. read more

Our favorite pizza delivery place in town! So glad we finally discovered Angelos. We are from Wethersfield and are somewhat obsessed with Village Pizza there, and since moving over the river, Angelos is our new favorite! Per our 4-year old's request, our usual go-to is a large cheese pizza with an order of fries. The prices can't be beat, and they deliver! We've been getting to go pizza from this restaurant for years. It is delicious!!! I had a craving for pasta, and was solo for dinner. I ordered eggplant parmigiana to go. Yummy!!! This was our family restaurant for over 20 years. The past 2 years have been nothing but a disappointment. Today, our last time going here, was awful. The waitress did not take a drink order, when we finally ordered we got our apps before our drinks. The app for little necks say 6 on the menu, only received 5. They got one order completely wrong for one person in the party. We arrived at 5:15 and did not get out until 6:50. As usual, the food was great, but the sevice really has much to be desired. I have "hoped" that it was an unusual occurrence, but over the past 2 years had proven that this is how it is. So sad. read more

The food is very, very good especially the chicken Parmesan. I find the owners and staff to be incredibly helpful and will get you anything you want. I loved the restaurant atmosphere but I am not sure if they are operating it after Covid. They also do a great job if you rent their dining room for a party. read more

OMG. Couldn't get seated, because the hostess was AWOL. Got water and menus, and no server for ten minutes. BTW, there were only three parties, including us. Left and went to Max Fish. Being rude must be a prerequisite to work at Angelo's. My boyfriend called to place an order and the young woman hung up on him mid-order. I could tell it was because of his accent (South Africa) despite not being difficult to understand. I immediately called back and a man answered. I switched my order to a large pizza with roasted red peppers. After I got home, I opened up the box to burnt green peppers on my pizza. When I called, the manager was very defensive and would not own up to their mistake. Apparently they don't have roasted red peppers even though it is listed on their menu. I feel compelled to post a review, since I believe 5he rating for this restaurant should be higher than it is. We just moved here from NJ, and we've got a high standard when it comes to Italian food. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal from here! The penne vodka wasn't as creamy as I expected, nor did it really remind me of a typical Penne vodka, but it was good. The sausage on the pizza was also Italian hot sausage, which I wish I had known prior to ordering. Those two things knocked a star off for me, but we'd definitely order here again! read more

I am writing this review not only in utter disbelief but shocked that this establishment still has a food license. Last Friday I ordered a pizza for my Mom who lives in a nursing home. It is very difficult for the residents there due to the current pandemic; they are confined to their rooms and all family visits have stopped. I thought I would brighten her day with a pizza. I called the Angelo's pizza at 3:00pm for a 4:30pm delivery of a medium size pie. I gave the man that answered the phone all of the delivery information including my mother's name twice, and my credit card information. He stated we will see you at 4:30pm I said well no I won't be there you will deliver the pizza and leave. 4:30 rolls around, 4:45 no pizza my Mom is very upset because she doesn't have her dinner, that I promised would be delivered. 4:52pm I call Angelo's back and am told that the pizza just left the restaurant and they didn't know when it would arrive but it just left and should be there shortly. 5:20pm I called the nursing home and spoke with the receptionist who opens the door for all visitors at the main entrance, she stated no one came to the facility, and no pizza was delivered. I Called the restaurant back spoke with the Owner who said the reason the pizza was late was because he could not get into the facility. Please note the pizza left Angelo's pizza shop 22 minutes after it was to be delivered. But Ok. I said there is no pizza there. He stated he was told he could not go inside so they left it. I called the nursing home back and then called the restaurant with a three-way call. GUESS WHERE THE PIZZA WAS You got It, ON THE GROUND IN THE GUTTER. OUT IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING ON THE GROUND. Yes, where the CARS DRIVE, LEAK OIL AND GAS. This is how they interpreted me saying LEAVE THE PIZZA AND GO. How in the world is this HEALTHY/SANITARY/ OR PASS ANY HEALTH CODE? They expect a person with a weakened immune system who is in a nursing home to eat off the ground. RUN RUN FOR THE HILLS. Lots of mixed reviews for this restaurant for sure here on Yelp; I'm somewhat surprised. It's been a while since we've dined-in here as flashier trendier places have moved into town, but as a 26-year resident my memories of the place are of, yes, sometimes spotty service and not a great wine list but really good food. My COVID project has been to try and compare all the pizza/Italian places in town by doing takeout--Gino's, the now-departed Harry's, Sassano, Giovanni's (not impressed), Square Peg (REALLY not impressed). We got sidetracked by discovering that they offer spaghetti with actual meat sauce, along with meatballs, so we ordered that with a caesar salad, not realizing that side salads come with. Let me just say that the portions are HUGE--easily enough for two other meals--and the food was so good we were literally licking the styrofoam containers (one advantage of dining in!). We actually went back and got more meatballs the next day since I hadn't ordered any with mine and as I said, there were tons of leftovers. Wow they are good. WAY better than Square Peg. They apparently make the caesar salad dressing in house, and it's so good, thick and creamy, I could drink it with a straw. I doubt they sell it on the side but I'm going to check and see. I remember swooning over their Chicken Princess back in the day--chicken breast stuffed with crab meat and broccoli in a mushroom sauce; I'll sample that again soon. Garlic bread was also quite decent. So, yeah, maybe I wouldn't go there for knock-your-socks-off service, but the food is old-school delish. We have missed the restaurant and our favorite table, but we recently had a big family dinner party in their special event room and everything, especially the delicious food and great service, was appreciated! Got a ham grinder from Angelo's. Was probably the first customer of the day today. I asked them to heat it in the oven and waited while they prepared it. I noticed that after the grinder ran through the oven the two cooks touched it and ran it through again. I assumed that it wasn't warm enough so they did it a 2nd time. When I got home I found that the roll was stale. Then it dawned on me that they put it through the 2nd time in hopes of making it appear less stale. Bad job Angelo's!! read more

Where do I begin? It seems that this one restaurant has a spot for all moods inside there one building. Adult night with a family member and the main course did not disappoint. Seafood could have only been fresher if they pulled it out of the sea and served it. Italian wedding soup was like warm. We expected a fisherman's platter to be fried but it wasn't and arrived with rosemary potatoes and a chef made vegetable medley. They should have a zero rating available. Recently we decided to order Pizza and Calzones for delivery. We were told 45 minutes for delivery, we call after an hour and were told just left and on its way. My wife asked if it was going to be hot and was assured it would be. We waited another 20 minutes and was assured it was on its way. Just after we completed the call, the pizza and calzones arrived. The delivery guy was in a hurry so we tipped and he was gone. Immediately we noticed that the pizza box was ice-cold. We immediately called Angelo's to complain. After some discussion with them insisting they send a new order, which by now we were ;unwilling to wait for, they agree to a full refund and told us to leave the pizza on the front step. We left it there and ordered delicious Pizza and Calzone from Foxy Pizza.. Believe me the short drive was worth it to get hot pizza right out of the oven. When I arrived back home, the Angelo's order was still on the front step. My wife informed me that the Manager called and said that since we "accepted" the order they will not be refunding us. So, Angelo's has hands down the best Pizza and Grinders in Glastonbury. Looking at the previous reviews where people complained that pizzas took hours to deliver, tells me that this place is so busy, that yes it takes a while...so just pick it up? All of the food in their restaurant is phenomenal authentic Italian food. Probably some of the best chicken France I have ever had. I recommend ordering take out. Some times when the restaurant side gets busy it does take a while for things. They don't have a lot of staff on that side so it's understandable. But the take out side is always all hands on deck. I've seen the takeout girls running when it's busy and non stop. There's such a demand for their food and it's worth the wait on the weekends. During the weekdays there is no problem. Always super quick. The price is decent, food is amazing and the family that owns it is really nice. And they are always there and I feel like this restaurant is a pillar of Glastonbury. 5 stars because it's the best in town for Pizza and that's hard to beat. read more

Since moving "inland" from New Haven, I have been looking for a good, fair priced Italian restaurant and this fit the bill! While they didn't have a hostess necessarily, the bartender immediately acknowledged us and said someone would seat us shortly. We were seated and promptly served water, which was refilled consistently throughout dinner. From other reviews, I was anticipating slower service but was proved wrong with a friendly, diligent waitress. For a Friday night, there were people at the bar, a large party in the back and a few other groups but not busy at all. The pizza and salads were great! I've ordered from Angelo's for years. My favorite is their italian combo which I haven't had in about a year. They used to put plenty of meat, peppers, cheese, it was heavenly. Fast forward today. Terrible customer service. There was a misunderstanding about an order and I ended up leaving with the wrong order. When I got onto the highway to go home, I realized my order was incorrect. When I called Angelos to explain the situation I informed the young girl that I couldn't come back. The son got on the phone and became a detective instead of a business owner. He accused me of making the mistake instead of offering any type of resolution. He spent 13 minutes on the phone scolding me for the mistake. I go here just for the pizza.... the food here is pretty average as you cant get and the service is pretty horrible. A couple of the ladies are really good but then you get the younger girls that fight right in front of you for the right to serve your table. I would not even go here if it wasn't for the pizza which I really like. Place seems like it could use alot more attention to detail when cleaning and there seems to be flies everywhere.
