The take out side of Angelo's

Pizza places are interesting. Like a sports team that someone follows, people tend to find their favorite pizza place, and then they don't go anywhere else. I, on the other hand, like all kinds of pizza (including frozen) and am happy to branch out and try new places. A few months ago a friend ordered a pizza from here and I immediately fell in love. When trying a new pizza place, I like to try a plain cheese because it lets you taste the core ingredients of a pizza without toppings like pepperoni masking the flavor underneath. The crust, to me, was the perfect thickness, and the sauce was a delight to my tastebuds. It had a slightly sweet taste. I'm not a chef and don't know what gave it that flavor, but whatever it is, I liked it! This may not be well known, but they actually have their sauce available for purchase in glass jars, and it's so popular, it's even available to buy at grocery stores in the area. In addition to pizza, they offer salads, soup, grinders, paninis, and burgers plus entrees like ziti, shells, chicken marsala and more. Interestingly, there are 2 parts to Angelo's restaurant. They have a sit down restaurant, which is what I thought the restaurant was, but they also have a take out-only area that's separate from the main restaurant. If you order a pizza to go, you go to the take out side to pick it up. You can't eat it on the take out side. The sit down restaurant is currently closed, but will hopefully open up soon because that menu has some great dishes I'd like to try. If someone is looking for a new pizza place to try and haven't been to Angelo's, I highly recommend they give it a try.

We've been getting to go pizza from this restaurant for years. It is delicious!!! I had a craving for pasta, and was solo for dinner. I ordered eggplant parmigiana to go. Yummy!!! I was not disappointed!! The serving size was huge!! Enough for dinner, snack for my husband and lunch the next day. I grabbed a to go menu. I am looking forward to trying other pasta dishes.

Bad service and below average food. Called for a roasted red pepper on a pizza and received burnt green peppers.

Also, the Chick-fil-A drive thru which dominates the three restaurants in the building was jammin. So cars were coming and going like it was rush-hour on the Long Island Expressway. We ordered at the counter, and the food was delivered to us at our table. There were two televisions, going one with a football game on it from I don't know where or who is playing, and the Senate hearings were going on another television. In the background was music. It was a little busy noise wise to say the least. I ordered a lamb Gyro, , which which included tzatziki sauce, cucumber, tomato, and onion. Also included with this order, were shoestring french fries that were well seasoned, crisp, and on point. The fries reminded me of McDonald's. Also included was a fountain drink. The restaurant was slow, with one party of two just finishing up when we walked in. I saw only one other customer walk in when we were eating. So in other words, this place was dead. Jersey Mike's next-door was hopping, along with two doors down Chick-fil-A. Lunch was quite expensive at $32 for two. My friend had a cheesesteak with fries which didn't look big at all. All in all, I don't see the value here. The food was good, but really pricey. This was a destination to try once. On the way out, I did notice pizzas on the counter selling per slice. Those didn't look appetizing. With so many restaurants in Glastonbury, there are many better choices than this On a positive note, it was nice seeing the lamb carved from a spit that was going behind the counter.

I really wanted to like this place, I really did. However it seemed to fall short on many levels…read moreand I struggled with the 3-star rating because it really could have been better. I stopped in for a takeout lunch and grabbed four slices and a drink. Normally when I try a pizza place I go for the plain cheese slice first (b/c if you can't do that well I'm not interested in anything else) but they didn't have any available so I'll go slice by slice with this review. First up was the White Pizza, simple pie with Ricotta, Mozzarella and Parmigiano. This wasn't bad at all, but it wasn't very flavorful. Most places will use a garlic and herb base or something to give it some extra flavor but this was just ok. The Chicken-Bacon-Ranch was probably the best of the four I tried, though it was a little light on the toppings. If it had a bit more chicken and/or bacon I would have enjoyed it a lot more than I did but overall it was good, but could be much better. The Buffalo Chicken pizza was not what I am used to. I'm spoiled by the version that Hometown Pizza does where the chicken chunks are breaded and sauced and the finished pie is topped with bleu cheese dressing. This was a pizza with shredded chicken and hot sauce so, technically buffalo chicken but like the other slices, lacking on the toppings so hard to say it was anything other than just "OK". The Big Mac slice was really the biggest disappointment. First off, the Big Mac is a BURGER and there was hardly any burger on the pizza at all. Though there were some sesame seeds present there were none on the crust. The primary toppings here seem to be the 'sauce' and lettuce which tasted more like Russian dressing than "Big Mac" sauce. It's a nice enough place, cozy inside and the staff is friendly for the most part, I wouldn't mind sitting down for a nice lunch but, as many others have mentioned there are a LOT of good pizza places within a short distance so I'm not sure I'll be coming back anytime soon. I'm not sure why they're so light on the toppings but if your slice pies are that skimpy there's no way I'd order a whole pie. Barely three stars.

I thought it was weird that a pizza joint would be this quiet on a Friday night but now I know why…read more I decided to try this spot out as I was in the area and needed to grab dinner. Wanted something easy to bring home. I read about the Big Mac pizza and I just had to try it. The girl that took my order was super nice and friendly. They had one slice left and it looked like it had been sitting there for a while but I was already committed. Decided to add a Caprese salad in place of more pizza. There are seats inside, but it seems like this is more of a take out kind of vibe so I ordered everything to go. The pizza: well that was disappointing. The ratio is all wrong - needs way more meat on it. Not a fan. The salad: not quite what I was expecting. It was big but not enjoyable. Ingredients didn't seem very fresh. With so many other great places to grab pizza from in Glastonbury (Angelo's, Giovanni's, etc) I would recommend going somewhere else if you're looking for a good pie!

The inside was entirely empty, a few people stopped by to pick up their orders, but no one was dining inside. On the wall they have awards they've received from 2011 to 2025, all for being in the top 10 restaurants. It was a bit awkward being the only ones here, but there are bigger issues in the world. Their menu offers pizzas, pasta, gyros, salads and more. We first got an order of their sautéed calamari. This had a nice tender and chewy texture. This is unlike what most places offer. The sauce was also very flavorful, we actually ate it by the spoonful like a soup. Their garlic bread was great for dipping into the sauce. Not a very garlicky garlic bread but not bad. We all got some variation of the gyro, with salad, fries or rice. Mine was with the Greek Salad. This Greek Salad was very fresh and the feta cheese on it sealed it all together. Unfortunately the lamb in the gyro was very overcooked and dry. It wasn't good at all. The tzatziki sauce is always a favorite. Overall I wasn't super impressed with my meal. I might stop by sometime in the future and try something else.

But as we know this IS the spot on the map for the best pizza, not the south end of the state, its up here in the middle. And Adriatik blends right in. Got that greeky crust going on, thicker than that lame thin New Haven stuff. A decent sauce, not too sweet, not too much 'zing'. You wont be getting heartburn from it. Works for me. You looking for a pasta dish, you'll find something worth checking out. Baked Manicotti was good. Prices are getting up there, as they are everywhere. Plenty of tables inside, has an old school pizza place vibe. Staff is always friendly and happy to see you. Everything was exceptional, from the drinks and ambiance to the salads, entrées, and desserts. The kale salad was fresh and delicious, the Pasta alla Vodka was outstanding, and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan (I completely forgot to take a picture because she was so excited to dig in!). The hazelnut pie was the perfect way to end the meal and cobbler pie A special shout-out to Rory, who took such great care of us. I was hoping for a Dubai Chocolate Espresso Martini, which wasn't on the menu, and she went above and beyond by checking with the bartender and putting in a special request for me. That thoughtful gesture made my evening extra special and truly reflected the outstanding hospitality. We left happy, full, and already looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu. Highly recommend and more sensible way was giving the salads separately in two plates. We mentioned we would be sharing the salad and pasta Ella vodka which was the first time I have ever seen in a restaurant, most restaurants would give a big one and we need to portion it out. We started with the shrimp alla vodka pasta, which was genuinely good and a dish I'd order again. We also shared an apple arugula salad that was fresh and well balanced, along with a side of fries that were just okay -- nothing special, but they did the job. The evening didn't start off smoothly, though. The restaurant was busy, and the wait to be seated took a while. Once we were seated, the service was okay at best -- attentive enough to get our order right, but not particularly warm or fast. That became more of an issue when our prosecco arrived flat. We had to work to get our waiter's attention to have it replaced, and it took much longer than it should have for someone to notice and follow up. We also tried a lavender vodka drink, which ended up being a bit of a letdown. It was expensive for what amounted to a small pour, and honestly the best part of it was the fancy glass it came in -- the drink itself didn't quite justify the price. Overall, the food carried the night. The pasta and salad were highlights, and I'd come back for those alone. But the service hiccups and pricey, underwhelming cocktails took some shine off the experience. If you go, stick to the pasta and maybe skip the specialty drinks.
