First off let me say I am disgusted with Angry Ales. I am a disabled Veteran who was in town for a weekend. I was referred to this place as a "fun place with good vibes, good food, and good drinks." Let me start off with saying I was told at the door that myself and my highly trained service dog had to sit outside on the patio. I informed the security gentleman at the door that she was not a "pet" but a service animal, and we were not sitting outside in the 28 degree weather. He was unsure of the law, but did not question my entry. I proceeded into the bar and grill, and went to the bar top where I was greeted by one of the bartenders. She took my drink order, a crown and sprite, and told me how beautiful my service animal was and how well trained she was. It was at this time, one of the managers named "Thomas" approached me and told me that me and my service animal could not be inside their establishment. I informed him that was/ is against the law and he could not refuse me or my service animal. He asked me to come outside to speak to him,(at this time I started recording the incident) without incident I followed him outside. While Thomas and myself were outside, he told me that he was refusing myself and my service animal entry; we were being asked to leave. I let him know politely that he could not do so by law, and that she was not a "pet" but a medical device who is highly trained as a PTSD/ Anxiety dog, as well as medical alert. He informed me that its the owners policy that no animals are allowed inside their bar. He then told me that he was asking me to leave, but my service dog could stay. I informed him of the ADA guidline: 1. The ADA explains what businesses and state/local governments must do to make sure that they do not discriminate against a member of the public with a disability who uses a service animal. 2. Generally, businesses and non-profits that are open to the public as well as state/local governments must allow service animals to go most places where the public can go. This is true even if they have a "no pets" policy. On camera, Thomas proceeds to tell me he is allowed to ask me my disability and what the dog does. I informed him per the ADA guidelines You may ask two things: 1.Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2.What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? All of these "questions" are answered on my service dogs harness and it states openly that she is a PTSD service animal and a medical alert dog. After informing him of my rights protected by the ADA, he told me this is not the place for someone with a disability. I asked to speak to his boss, and his boss came out to speak to me. The gentleman I spoke with was very understanding of the law and said he's never worked at a place who had a policy that states they are not to let animals inside, regardless if they're service animals or not. He even called the owners on the phone while I was standing right there and they reaffirmed they do not care what the law states, this is his establishment and I was not to bring my service dog inside. They hung up. I told him that they were breaking the law and that I was going to file a police report. He told me he was sorry but he was only following orders. I called Charlotte PD and two officers were there within 10 minutes or so. I explained to the, that the bar owners/ managers were denying me and my service dog entrance. The police told the restaurant managers that they could not do that by law per North Carolina statue 168 and were protected under the ADA guidelines. All of this incident is recorded and will be sent to the appropriate parties that will be involved in this discrimination complaint with the Department of Justice and the ADA. read more

This place seems tidier than other dive bars around but the beer selection and food sucks. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was fairly empty but the service was still a bit lacking. I got a burger and the street corn. The burger with bacon was surprisingly good but the street corn took every positive comment away. It literally tasted like someone threw up in it. So acidic with that horrible, dry mouth feel that makes you want to brush your teeth immediately. If you don't believe it's cojita cheese, you might say it looked like it too. Basically, I see no redeeming qualities for going back anytime soon. read more

i placed an order for pickup: 20 wings, 1 buffalo chicken dip, and 1 order of sweet potato fries with cream cheese icing. the buffalo chicken dip has blue cheese on top of it, something that wasn't expressed on the chow now site. i did pick it off and eat it; it was good. the wing flavors were supposed to be medium, bbq, hot honey, and lemon pepper. i didn't receive the hot honey sauce, and the wings were not sauced in advance. the sauce containers were 3 ounces each, which was enough with the buffalo sauce, but not the bbq sauce. i was only saucing 7 wings at a time for reference. 2 2oz ranch cups were given for 20 wings. $32 for 20 wings and one of the flats was smaller than my thumb. and then, the cherry on top, we were given floppy sweet potato fries with no icing. what's the point in paying extra when there's no icing.. i think i would pay another visit, just not get anything i ordered tonight lol. read more

Ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower, just scrumptious and then the Montford Hot Chicken Sandwich which I ordered Reaper style, just beat some of the other places Chicken sandwiches out of the way ! WhT can I say about this establishment, the food and vibe was on point. The service here was remarkable our waitress Maria was hustling and working hard. I want to say she was moving so fast to make sure everything was perfect, I honestly will say that Maria is a great addition to this business and the owners should give her recognition for her hardwork. Kudos to the cooks up there. I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich last night and it's really great. It's cooked perfectly.. I was super impressed. The food is always good here... everything I've had (buffalo chicken salad, buffalo shrimp and Nashville hot chicken sandwich) has been cooked right and tastes really great. Wonderful flavor to this sandwich, I liked the honey & pickles with it also. They always get the food out super fast and the girls serving are always sweet and make sure everything is right no matter what time it is, you can call at 10-12pm and still get a great dinner from here. One of my favorite things about this place is the patio area, it's huge! Plenty of seating and TVs to watch for any kind of sports you want, and the inside is always nice and filled with great service. Ale's is a classic Charlotte staple. It's a great place to hang out and watch football. They have killer specials, like $12 mimosa buckets on weekends. The food is so good. Craving some good pub food and was not super impressed but there were good qualities about this place. Generous portions well packaged (see note on actual meal packaging) arrived in tact by my Postmates driver. I ordered the Jack Daniels Burger and there was very little Jack Daniels sauce on a large burger which made it fairly dry. The side of Tat-or Tots was very generous but very soggy! If baked or fried right would have still been more crispy than soggy and wet. No taste to them at all. Burger was large but over cooked and pretty tasteless sauce would have helped. Strong bun which is always good did not go soggy. I also ordered the Kendall's Mac n Cheese again very generous portion I asked for extra bacon again very generous and well combined in the dish. Very cheesy but did not have much flavor other than the back which is yummy but you need to add more to your food seasoning when it is cooking for flavor. PLUS the Mac n Cheese (pictured) was put in a styrofoam clamshell container on burger paper which means most of it is stuck to the paper and paper is disintegrating into the meal!! Not what I wanted and is not packaged well at all. All in all This spot does not season their food well or think about how they are serving its customers. I would say for the price you got a good amount of food I just did not want to eat it all or save it for later or could not save it like the Mac n cheese that had paper in it. I really want to consult with local spots on how to package their food for take out so when you get your food it is a good experience and not frustrating experience. It comes down to the owner allowing in the budget for proper packaging and allowing the staff to order it. I feel strongly on this! Went there for lunch today because my son wanted a virgin strawberry daiquiri to celebrate his birthday. Daiquiri machine was broken so he was disappointed. The food was the most bland and mediocre food ever. I had a chicken Philly on recommendation of the server. It was literally sliced grilled chicken with a slice of cheese - not a true Philly. just now NEW I haven't been to Angry Ale's in years. I was so excited when I realized they were still open. I called my brother, he informed me that they were on the list of restaurants that was participating in Burger Week so he was excited. We meet there. He inquired about the burger week menu. The waitress gave him one option with a bad attitude. It was as if she didn't even want us there. We blew that off and ordered, I was still excited. I could remember how great the wings were. My daughter ordered pretzel bites, they were too salty to eat. My brother ordered a burger that was super thin and super dry. They both sent their food back. I ordered wings and tots. My meal was good. My daughter asked for fried pickles but after a while of waiting, we asked for our check because I was the only one who had eaten and they wanted to get some food and stop waiting. She brought the check out with everything on it including the pickles which we didn't have and later brought the pickles out to go. When I asked for a manager, he came to our table, picked up the check, and told us to just go. ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS? Look, I don't mind paying for my food but what we will not do is pay for that we can't eat. The bad food one can understand. Sometimes restaurants have bad days but it was the attitude for me. Packers Nation! This Packers bar was decked out and ready for the NFC Championship yesterday. Unfortunately, the Packers lost. Although, even with being packed (all COVID protocols still enforced) service was on top of it between drinks and food orders. Since the game was mid-afternoon we came for drinks and apps. If you're looking for decent bar food, some great drinks and a fun game day environment, this is your place. In terms of an entree, I can't speak to it as we only had Beer Cheese with Pretzels and Buffalo Chicken Dip. The apps were good, but nothing I'd come running back for. However, the drinks, service and game day environment is certainly one we will be coming back for...next season :( read more

I met a few friends here, but I was late to arrive. By the time I showed up, they had already placed their orders and the menus cleared. When i was able to flag down a waitress, I ordered a burger (someone suggested the Carolina) and the sweet potato fries. And a PBR, because it seemed appropriate. The kitchen was able to fast track my burger so it showed up at the same time as my friends. The Carolina is seriously messy but it's loaded with fatty meaty greasy goodness. Angry Ale's reminds me of bars I used to frequent when I was in college. When we didn't have any other choices. The restaurant/bar is a series of interlocking rooms. Some with tables, some with bars, some with pool tables. Great for mingling in crowds. In college. We had a coupon for Angry Ale's so decided to give it a try, hoping to find a new local favorite bar at which to hang out. It was a nice evening, so we sat outside. They have a big outdoor seating area, but AA was seriously lacking any atmosphere. No color, no theme, no spark. The service was a-ok, as was the food. Nothing stood out. It's your basic bar food -- apps, salads, burgers, wings, sandwiches -- but they had a pretty good variety of each item. So I came here with a group of coworkers for lunch. We were promptly seated and greeted by our server. She was very quick and efficient at taking our drink orders. When she returned with our drinks, we put in our food order. This is where the experience derailed. After taking our order, we waited probably 30-35 minutes for five sandwich/burgers to come out. Additionally, half our orders were mixed up. I had the angry as hell burger with tater tots. The tots were literally ice cold. I ordered the burger medium and it came out well done. Pretty decent sports bar to watch games at. Has a mix of teams at the bar and multiple screens for the days games. There are a few game day specials and the bartenders are super friendly and quick to get everyone what they need! There is a private room dedicated to Packers fans for football games. I didn't take photos because we were watching a basketball game with 50 Purdue Alumni, but thought I'd leave a review. My husband and I both got the firecracker shrimp with tater tots and shared a large bowl of mac and cheese. The shrimp were good sized, but the breading fell off most of them. The sauce they put on made them greasy. The tots were good. But the star of the night was the mac and cheese. We didn't get any of the meats or other stuff suggested, just noodles and cheese and it was YUMMY ! Honestly one of the best mac & cheese I've had. The server was nice but overwhelmed with all of us. They had 3 servers for us. Took an extremely long time to get drinks, food, bill etc... but somewhat understandable. They had a band playing outside and lots of people were there on a Friday night. All I can say is "BAM"......he was sooooooo super nice when my fam and I had dinner and decided to sit outside. We were silly and having a good time. Bam kept assisting with our heat lamps and continued to turn them on for us....he moved them where we needed them and assisted every time we requested and even when we didn't he was attentive. The music trivia is a lot of fun (however it is a little difficult to hear it outside). They keep the trivia game moving quickly and keep everyone engaged. read more
