It's been a while and I remembered all the delicious food I used to eat here. Saturday evening rush with 2 hours wait quoted, so you must wait 2 hours it is. While waiting I figured to grab a frozen strawberry mango margarita to keep me occupied until my party got seated. This place have gone down hill for sure. They don't make their trifecta as seasoned or tasty as before. They've gone cheap with everything. I'm talking about the pound of shrimp I've ordered, literally tasted just like boiled with garlic. I have been planning to try this location for quiet some time now and finally got a chance for a Friday dinner. We went for a late dinner around 9pm and the place was packed and there were so many coming in at that time too. We were seated immediately and we went ahead with their cocktail special which was peach and vodka. It was pretty good. We Ordered some garlic bread along with dungees and head off shrimp. We chose trifecta sauce with level 3 and 4 hot. It arrived all hot and smelling great. The dungees was cooked pretty well and only thing I didn't like is the fact that it wasn't cleaned well when I opened the main stomach of the dungees it was filled with dirt and I had to throw that up. Shrimp was perfect and tasted delicious. The sauces were spicy and I couldn't literally feel my lips. Whenever I eat here, the garlic and oil is so over powering that I have a tough time. I am always game for seafood just that it can be less greasy, just my thoughts Overall a good place and price is above average considering the seafood scarcity in Az. Lately I've had been a seafood kick and looking for the "freshest" seafood even though we live in a land locked state the irony there. I have previously visited Angry Crab in Central Phoenix, but never realized there is one conveniently located near my home. Due to the current state of the nation, our only option was to order in. The online menu has a variety of items from appetizer down to the seafood boil. It's nice to have this because many places have been offering a limited menu. Now I do what to put this our there, please don't judge but we visited 4 times in one week I'll explain later. Three of the four orders were placed via Yelp and the last order was placed directly through the website. Our first order we ordered the lobster crustini, a cup of gumbo, King lobster, easy peel shrimp, and the sides of potatoes, sausage, and corn. The food came in two bags with nothing else such as bibs, utensils, etc no big deal since we were eating at home. The food was very fresh and full of flavor. The gumbo was had a little too much okra and celery, otherwise ok. We chose the trifecta wimpy and that was just with spice for us. A few nights later, again on a seafood kick we put in another order. This time when my husband went to pick up the order, there was some slight confusion as how the food was ordered. Since we ordered the same as before, the person working kept asking if it was a Grubhub order but finally figured out the issue. This particular time we ordered a catfish plate with rice and sausage as the sides, easy peel shrimp, and a shrimp poboy. Again everything but the rice was good. The rice was really hard and to touch didn't seem fresh. On the third visit because of the consistency we had with the food earlier we decided to enjoy with some friends. We ordered through yelp and our friends ordered directly through the Angry Crab shack site, this is part of my reason for the four stars. Upon picking up the orders, my husband was asked where he ordered and he said Yelp. Whoever handed him our order said that it's much cheaper to order through their site. I'm thinking this is something that would have been useful earlier in the week especially with covid and people wanting to order. Here is an example of the price differences. We ordered king crab legs through Yelp at a price of $40 per pound yet on their website $33 per pound, classy. Also on the third visit, we received bibs, a paper table cloth, lemons, and gloves. Shouldn't this have been included before? Finally, you ask why so many times in one week. Twice was probably good and three was for sure pushing it. Well my amazing husband threw away all of are leftovers by accident when he cleared the table. Life in our household would have been miserable for him all day. So him being the husband he is offered easy peel shrimp, king crab, and mussels. The food was delicious but again nothing more besides two wet wipes inconsistent. All in all, we liked Angry Crab (obviously). Hopefully one covid is over we will be able to enjoy the food there fresh in the restaurant! read more

Hands down this is one of my favorite seafood spots! The TRIFECTA sauce is where it's at! If you've never tried it, then you're missing out. You can even order some to take home! They have gotten more expensive the last couple years by quite a jump so it's more of a treat when we can eat here. This location gets really busy so if you're patient, you can definitely try to wait or just get it to go but it's not the same as if you eat it at the restaurant. I've had some not so good experiences here with waiting a long time for a to go order or waiting awhile for food or drinks but I'll save that for some other time lol read more

I crave angry crab on a weekly basis. I love the relaxed setting (there's writing on the walls) and they use white butcher paper as a table cover. You also get a bib to eat with. To start, I got a four peaks peach beer. It was very refreshing and actually tasted a lot like peaches. Then we got the loaded fries which comes with gumbo on top. They were so good! I would definitely recommend that as an appetizer. For the main course, I got two pounds of shrimp (the waitress recommended a pound per person) and with the trifecta sauce, level 3 spicy, and added sausage and potatoes to the mix. My wife and I visited this location over the weekend and sadly were disappointed with the snow crab. I will admit that the server and manager made an attempt to remedy the super salty crab but at the end of the day we couldn't eat it and had to pay for the majority of it... I just can't get out of my head why the server/manager still made us pay for something we couldn't eat... According to the manager, the supplier of snow crab has been providing extra salty snow crab and he provided us with another pound. The first round we maybe had one leg each and couldn't eat anymore, and the same happened with the second pound.... I get that this is an expensive item but if there is an issue with the order, why is the customer paying for it? We had totaled up the "discounts" which equalled roughly $16 but when you have an $80+ bill and you didn't eat a 1/3 of the food because of the taste, it just doesn't add up. My mother in law kept raving about this place so we tagged along. The service was slow, but that's probably due to the over crowding. Do not come here and expect it to be up to covid standards or idk what the sanitary standards were but I just prayed and kept it pushing. I did not enjoy frozen margarita, the taste was not great at all. My char grilled oysters were "burnt" not grilled. My alligator bites did not take like alligator (and I commonly get alligator bites when I go home to the south). The boiled shrimp was decent and so was the lobster roll. Let me start by saying this was for my wife's birthday. If I could give it a 0 I would. First off we had a big party, to seat 21 people to be exact. Second for a party this big a reservation option should be allowed. We called the day before to see what it would take to accommodate everyone. We were told that since we wanted a reservation for 6:30pm that we should arrive around 6:00pm. We arrived as requested. Once we arrived we were then told 1.5 hour wait. We were handed menus and told to look over the menu so we could order when we get seated. At this point we were left to wait with menus. We waited 2 hours before being seated. Once inside they only had 1 waiter for our party. We told the guy we are all ready to order since we had time to look at the menu. He said he was only taking drinks first. Next or drinks were loaded with sugar or no flavor. Finally get to order our food we put in for an appetizer and family feast for 3 since everyone was ordering separately. Me, nephew and his gf. After waiting for 2 hours outside and now waiting on food. I was pretty irritated. My two kids got their burgers and fries since they don't eat seafood. Our feast never made it. Everyone else got there shrimp and lobsters and what not. The appetizer also never made it. So now it has been 3.5 hours since this all started. No food for us. I canceled the order and what you know the feast I seen on the pickup window was ours. When I cancelled the food they suddenly brought it. Also I had to keep going to the front to grab refills and the extra drinks i ordered. My nephew left and his gf. When we finally got out it was 10:40pm. My night ended with whataburger this would be the last time I go to this place. Service is everything to me. So the food I couldn't rate but the service was the worst since ah-so 2006. Walking in to put his name down, my boyfriend had a short lady, tie dye with black leggings, dirty blonde hair, royal blue shirt, looked like a smoker give him a dirty look while shaking her head. We got a pound of shrimp and another pound of crawfish. The shrimp was good and big, it had lots of vegetables. The crawfish, however, was underwhelming. Not only did we get the 3rd spicy option (I believe it was hot) and it was barely mild, we also asked for veggies with it and it hardly had any. The shrimp was supposed to be mild but wasn't spicy at all. The drinks were good, I got the Cajun Bloody Mary which was spicier than both the shrimp and crawfish combined. I simply cannot say enough about my first visit there. They set out to create something specific and have succeeded completely. Great food, great service, unique and wonderful atmosphere. They have it all! Saw a few reviews on Yelp which left no doubt that this would be our first meal in Phoenix of our trip. Drove up and could see every table full, including those choosing to eat outside on this uncharacteristically cold Arizona evening. We put in our name and were told it would be about a 15 minute wait. This gave us time too look around. Tables occupied by groups of friends, families, couples and even an occasional line dinner. Some people had platters of food in front of them but most had bags of shellfish and sides and a bucket for shells. All served on a table covered with white paper and simply adorned with a roll of paper towels. We also saw a bar which included a variety of house and even premium liquors and a fine array of beers. Short of a few nutcrackers, there was not a utensil to be seen. The menu is pretty spectacular and we chose king crab and head off shrimp. Trifecta sauce, light on the heat. A couple of sides of corn and some cornbread. Our drinks were quickly delivered and minutes later, as was our food. Two sloppy, messy, plastic bags and a bucket. Messy to eat, table filled with sauce (as was my shirt as I failed to don the supplied bib). And it was magnificent. Shauna, our waitress, was gracious, personable, and attentive. It was not long after that I left with a full belly, a big smile, and a restaurant to add to my all time favorites. No, it is not Alan Ducasse, Cosme, 11 Madison Park, or L'Arpege but, like those Michelin star restaurants, it is absolutely 5 stars for concept, food, and execution. If in Phoenix, do not miss this. I truly do not know how people love this restaurant for the prices they charge. The bowl of clam chowder tasted like flour and thick and pasty. We asked for a cup and got a large bowl in plastic. The two little lobster tails we had for $18 each we're like a piece of shrimp. The king crab legs did not remotely seem like a pound for $55. And of course was really soggy because it was cooked in juice in a bag. And the little tiny shrimp that came in the other bag with the vegetables they were so hard and tasteless. The one red potato I ate was delicious. So for two of us our bill was $150. Our bill wasn't that much at Buck & riders with day boat scallops and beautiful large king crab. When we got there the front of the restaurant was extremely hot. Then we moved to the back of the restaurant where it was really cool. I don't know if they're using a swamp cooler but it smelled funny back there. I think we waited a half hour for the clam chowder Even though the manager was very kind and apologized and said they were out and had to make more. Of all the new locations that open, this one is still my favorite one! I feel like they get the flavors right every single time. I was craving seafood the other day and my sister grabbed some to-go. I was half expecting subpar food when it came home because I feel like seafood taste better when it's fresh but nope, the shrimp was nice and plumb and hit every craving i had. My only complaint is that the mussels were not the best. They were little and did not soak in any sauce. There were sauce on the outside but none in the instead which made the mussels taste a little dry and flavorless. Sausage is a good idea to add every single time. One order comes with 4 and we added 7 orders so that says a lot. The sausage just soaked up the sauce and becomes this amazing little burst when you bite it. Angry crab is the only place that cuts it in big chunks. I appreciate the quality of the gloves they give you for eating, mine did no rip and kept my hands clean after the meal! Disappointed is as simple as I can make it. This was always my go to place for a simple fish basket, but this last time was unlike any experience I've ever had at this location. First of all, it was the day before thanksgiving and for unknown reasons, they were badly understaffed. It appeared that there was only one experienced server in the place. The greeter was trying to help out, but she was obviously lacking the skills to wait tables. She took our drink and appetizer order and returned shortly with our drinks. A little time went by and my buddy mentioned that we never ordered our meal. Around this time, I noticed our appetizers sitting in the window which no one was paying attention to. I finally waved down the gal and asked if that was our appetizers sitting in the window to which she responded "probably". After delivering drinks to someone else, she delivered our appetizers and took our meal order. Luckily, the appetizers were still fairly warm. I ordered the fish basket and that's when everything went off the rails. The fish they use is nice large cod filets and very good tasting, but when it's buried in heavy, wet, undercooked breading, it destroys even the best fish. The meal comes with 3 filets, mine came with 2. They were trying to address the elusive 3rd filet which never did arrive when I was trying to eat this mushy mess. I finally pulled the breading off the fish and just sat there eating the fish with my bare hands since silverware is a no-no. Oh, I also got a small ear of corn that would have been great with some butter and salt. Alas, that was not to be. Another male employee walked by us and asked how everything was to which I replied awful. He made a valiant effort to correct the situation by bringing me more fish which was even more undercooked which I just said no thank you to. It was just not my nor their day. They did take my meal off the bill, so at least there was some effort on their part. Problem is I really liked the fish from this place and now I don't want to go through this again. It just seems that there is no management in the front and no supervision in the back which is a recipe for failure. I also felt bad leaving there because of on top of getting a crappy meal twice, I felt like they were blaming me for not just shutting up and eating the crappy meal. I've been coming here for about 10 years and now I don't want to go back. They ruined 5 pieces of fish, my lunch, and their reputation all in one meal. No age limit, you can bring your 7 year old or your 70 year old. It's not a fancy establishment, just imagine you are in Louisiana off the Gulf Coast, having lunch or dinner and everyone is welcomed and treated like family. The waitress will explain how you can order by the bucket (bag) we decided to have a catfish dinner with your choice of Phoenix children Cajun fries (they give back to the community) awesome! You can add BBQ baked beans, potato salad or cole slaw to your meal. They offered house drinks such as the Hurricane... magically delicious! Our waitress was fantastic! Fast service for a place that had no empty tables. Food was hot and we were ready!!
