My wife heard good things about this place. She was told it was a bit expensive, but the food was good. We gave it a shot. Big mistake, but I'll get to that. The place was clean and we'll lit. Pleasant atmosphere, at first. After while the music got so loud we had to raise our voices just to try and hear each other. Being our first time there, it took use a bit to decide what to order. The waitress said she'd give use another 5 minutes. She came back more than ten minutes later. We put our order in. My wife ordered Mojarra Frita (fried fish). I ordered Ostiones Especiales (oysters with shrimp and scallops), for an appetizer. For my main I ordered Torre Cayomango (boiled shrimp, raw shrimp, octopus, tuna and scallops). After 20 minutes my wife asked the waitress why it was taking so long (considering there were around 15 other customers)? She told her it takes extra time to prepare the oysters. It should only take a few seconds to shuck an oyster, if you know how. Then add a shrimp and a thin slice of scallops on top should only take a few minutes. Definitely not over 20! Yhe oysters finally arrived. They looked good. Nice presentation. I slumped down my first and bit down on a chunk of shell. Not a good start. Second oyster, same outcome. Shell. I ate 4 oysters and out of the 4, 3 had shell. I left the remaining 2. After inspection, I noticed the shells were broken on the edge. You open an oyster at the hinge. Several minutes later my main arrived. My wife is still waiting. Once again, attractive presentation. The flavor was pretty good, but the boiled shrimp were over cooked and pasty. Not the freshest. For 36.40, I was expecting so much more! I finished my what I wanted of my food. My wife is still waiting. AFTER 40 MINUTES, her order arrived. This was the only saving grace. The fish (Talapia), was well cooked, moist and good flavor. I think 22.00 is a bit high for Talapia. It came with fries that were well seasoned, but limp, and a pretty scarce salad. One of those experiences that makes me say Welp, not Yelp. So, welp, here it is...I really wanted to like this restaurant more than I did. I'm rating it a little higher than it deserves, because I don't want to dissuade anyone else from going there. If you're curious why, read on... Walking in, I immediately felt like I was in one of the myriad of oh-so-promising nicer but "you're not in Scottsdale" restaurants in Rocky Point. Locals will know exactly what I mean. I love Rocky Point and whole vibe here was cheeky like that. The menu, oddly bright and inconsistent lighting, a full on Mariachi band with a Mexican vocalist, even some rando walking around selling flowers table to table like the tchotchke vendors on Sandy Beach. The band really was good, by the way! They have an interesting menu and the meal started out quite good. The chips were accompanied by a tasty ceviche instead of typical tomato salsa. I think it had a salsa negra base or Maggi seasoning. Lots of umami and great flavor overall. Appetizer of rib eye chicharrones was slightly disappointing. Really good beef flavor and texture, simply need some salt and maybe other seasoning. Was just kind of bland. And my breaded fish entree was not high quality. The sauce was great but the dish not so much. Overcooked, greasy, and too much breading. It couldn't decide if it wanted to be pan fried or deep fried. If I were that little fish, I'd want to wait until I grew up then I'd want to be lightly pan fried and seasoned a little more with lots of sauce all over me. (Psychoanalyze that, will ya?) Good cocktails, slow but very friendly service. Overall a little overpriced for what you get. But so promising. Great ideas all around, just the execution isn't quite there. Would I go back? Maybe sometime since it's nearby and I really want to like the place. I would definitely try different dishes to see if any of them are on point. My advice, give it a go if you like the Rocky Point vibe and Mexican seafood. Maybe you'll have a different experience. Then again, maybe you'll realize that with free advice, just like psychotherapy, you get what you pay for. read more

About three times a year my wife and I drive from northern New Mexico to San Diego spending the night at the Delta Hotel in Mesa. The hotel's location allows us to easily walk to Cayomango for a delicious dinner. My favorite dishes: the Guacamole Mexicano and the Taco de Marlin! In April I dined there again and enjoyed talking to the waitress/cashier Yethzely, friendly and helpful providing excellent service and helping me practice speaking Español. But, The place was SO loud, that we couldn't even talk to each other because of the music. The food was okay, but not worth what the prices are, and a bit too spicy in all our dishes we ordered. I like spicy food, but not as much as they use. They also use A LOT of onion. I also like onion but they need to calm down a little on the amount. Came here last night around just after 7 for dinner with the family, (Friday). The service wasn't all that great, our waitress was not out going at all. It took longer than usual to get our food and when we did get our food, there was fries on our plates. When asked why is there fries on our plates, the waitress said, they ran out of rice. I went back and ordered their rib eye it took one hour to bring it out. They apologized for the wait and said it would only be another couple minutes. It came out ice cold and not cocked to temperature. It was dead inside all 3 times and I suspect it will continue to be dead as their service is no where near what the price point for the food should be. The reason im giving this place a 1 start is because some lady (who I was informed isn't even the boss) was talking down to the employees. I think her name was Gladis or something like that. I was not sure what to expect based on the reviews, I was staying at the hotel near by and wandered in. A couple notes. The menu is more seafood, sushi, with some other fantastic items. This is not a steakhouse, but I ordered the Ribeye El Treinta and it was amazing! The salad was excellent, the guacamole was awesome plus it came with French fries and they were very good. I sat at the bar and the service from Erica was GREAT- they provided chips with a fish ceviche which was very good, one of the servers "Leidi" provided me a small taste of their Michelada mix without me asking - so if you drink Michelada's you are in for a treat - their mix is great!
