Had dinner tonight with another couple. Their catfish dinner was inedible. Sent it back and Mgr recommended they order cod. Spoke to the Mgr and she indicated she would "take care of this"...bill came and she had only comped $12...should have been $24! My Cod was overcooked and extremely greasy. Had to use 4 napkins to keep my fingers from being covered in grease! I called attention to the Mgr. and she did say she would alert the kitchen. When I received my bill, there was a "Comp" for $12 but that was not deducted from the bill total. Spoke to the waiter and he argued that it had been deducted...so I had to show him it was not...to make a long story short, the two bills were totally screwed up. The Mgr was totally incompetent...my friends bill was never properly corrected and I just left mine alone...said forget it...just won't go back there! For a Cajun style seafood restaurant in the middle of the country surrounded by no water, the food was pretty delicious. 4/5 people in my party were satisfied with their food. I had what they're famous for, a lb of head off shrimp with the trifecta (highly recommend, it's their signature sauce) and a 2/6 stars for spicy. Let me start by saying, listen to your waiter. The two stars, considered medium heat was HOT. I'm taking my mouth was on fire for about 30 minutes after my meal and my intestines paid for it later if you know what I mean. I also got a red potato in my shrimp that I didn't eat because it was so spicy. My husband got the catfish and we split our 2 meals. The catfish was delicious but you only got 1 filet, which was large. Our dad got the fried shrimp which of course was delicious and our grandma got the oyster po boy and she enjoyed it!! The one meal that was a disgrace was our mom got the scallops with linguini and vegetables with the garlic sauce and said it lacked any flavor at all. For the sides, the Cajun fries were really good, not too much a fan of their secret sauce or cocktail sauce. The beans were terrible but not too good. Our waitress was lovely, super nice. We all didn't like how 3/5 meals came out EXTREMELY early while two meals took about 15-20 minutes longer...they need to time their kitchen better. Also, good prices for seafood not too expensive. Under normal circumstances I would be completing this review after dinner but given this is the slowest service I have ever experienced I have time to type. dThis is my first visit to any restaurant in the last year. Wow it's interesting. I don't quiet get some of the covid rules. Required to scan for the menu with our phones, but we were then physically given a cocktail menu and a seafood specials menu. Defeats the purpose of requiring food menus to be scanned. Service is absolutely slow. Waited over 15 min to have our waitress show up at the table. Not a good start. Sigh. Finally ordered our meals and appetizers after 19 min waitin for someone to come to our table. Our waitress was short. Forgot our order. Blamed it that she was leaving asked to transfer our ticket. However an hour later she was still working and serving other tables. We met with our waiter 3 times total. Some of our food was cold - I didn't bother sending it back. The fried calamari was perfect, as were the hush puppies. The cluster of crab legs were half cold half hot. The spice level wasn't on point a 4 tasted like a 2 this time. I love angry crab but This round was disappointing. I will return bc there isn't anywhere else that offers this experience. I know now it's like playing Russian roulette! So I'm not a seafood guy... but my family is so I went here in honor of my son's birthday. It turned out to be a great experience. Here's a rundown of our experience: Appetizers: Onion Rings - They're onion rings... how can they be good or bad? Well, there were great. They were crunchy, not soggy and were separated nicely, not some big stick together mess. Grade: A Peel Apart Shrimp: My wife and son liked these a lot (more for them since I don't eat sea roaches ). They enjoyed the cocktail sauce for dipping and overall were good in their opinion. Grade: B+ Entrees: King Crab: My son knocked this entree out and loved it. They bring this in a big bucket lined with a clear plastic bag along with a side of equipment to crack the legs open and clean up the mess. The only drawback is the price ($41/lb) but he loved every bit of it. The sauce was so good my son wrapped it up and brought it home. Grade: A Fish & Chips: Living in the desert and getting good fish & chips is a hit or miss proposition. These were a definite hit with my wife. They were light, crunchy, not soggy in the middle and very good. They were good enough for my son, who ordered King Crab to continue eating his moms dinner after he was done. Grade: A Spicy Chicken Sandwich: This was excellent. The chicken was fried and crunchy, the Cole slaw on top was tasty and the sauce wasn't too spicy. A great thing for a non-sea foodie like me. Grade: A Kids Meals: These are pretty straight forward burgers and fries but the kids cleaned their plates. No kid-friendly things come along with the plate but the food is good enough they don't need the gimmick. All you can ask for from a kids meal. Grade: B+ Staff: Our waitress was nice, friendly, attentive and quick. My 6yr old nephew even noticed it when she refilled his drink... "Wow! That was fast!" Great staff in a friendly atmosphere. Grade: A Overview: This is a casual spot with great food. The tables have parchment paper and crayons so you can pen the intro of your next great novel or at least have some friendly games of tic-tac-toe with your dinner companions. The atmosphere is friendly and a bit loud so if you're claustrophobic you're probably not going to enjoy the vibe. There are several TV's with sporting events on the walls and a small bar. So why not 5 stars? I'm admittedly not a seafood guy so this may simply be my ignorance but the prices seemed a bit high. 3 adults and 2 kids ate for just over $100 and everyone had water except for my iced tea. Granted, we're post pandemic, the government printing free money is causing inflation and we're having king crab In the middle of the desert so I'm sure all of that plays a part. Tonight's order was ordered 45 minutes in advance we get there order is totally screwed up we had to wait another hour OK to get the correct food. Wanted to try this place out as it's relatively new and I work down the street from it. The ambiance here wasn't really my cup of tea. Kind of loud with ugly writing all over the wall. Nothing really exciting or novel about the interior. The big projection tv was nice. So the food was just okay in my opinion. I started out with an order of square cut calamari that was decent. For the main course I got the oyster po boy. Again it was okay, but I could barely taste any of the sauce. Everything I ate just tasted of deep fry. She was very friendly and welcoming. I told her it was my sister's birthday and she made sure that my sister got the attention for her 30th! Ive always loved my shrimp, mussels and steamed rice! Trifecta number 2 is my go to! I had no problem with the food. It was all delicious. She gave our table lots of lime and lemon--thank you thank you---. Awful manager, the other employee I talked to was nice but the manager had a nasty attitude, placed a Togo order at around 9, they close at 10 so to be respectful of time we placed a Togo. Came to pick it up and the manager was extremely rude making comments under breath laughing in the back at me where I could clearly hear it. Then after that I've never ordered Togo here before and asked for instructions the other employee kindly got me them and as she was walking by he had the audacity to say "what else now". We came as a party of 8. Started with a fried calamari appetizer and then ordered the Block Party which was supposed to feed 5-8 people. It came with a whole Dungeness crab, 1 small lobster, snow crab legs, king crab legs, headless shrimp, clams, mussels, corn, red potatoes, and cut sausages. We're not huge eaters and felt it wasn't enough for everyone even with the appetizer. The sauce was very oily, unlike the garlicy/buttery spicy sauce we're used to from other peel & eat places. The snow crab legs and king crab legs didn't snap or crack open, but the shells were weirdly super soft. There seemed to only be 1/2 lb of each seafood rather than the 1 lb the server told us we would get. The sausages were good, but the corn on the cob were dry like they'd been over cooked or left out and then recooked. How do you share 1 lobster with 8 people? 2 stars for the food. It was expensive (about $250 for the Block Party) and we didn't even feel full. 5 stars for the nice, attentive server. read more
