Worst customer service ever!! I called to place the order & had to hang up and call back because I was on hold for about 10 minutes. They said 15 minutes & I gave them more time & still had to wait when I got there. The employees were yelling and confused by what orders they had made, what they hadn't and what was missing. It was so unorganized the cashier had to go table to table asking what they had ordered before the cook yelled out an order that had been sitting there since I arrived. The food did not impress me AT ALL! The portions were small except for all the rice, I think I got a spoonful of hummus if that. The "salad" was browned lettuce with old cucumbers and zero dressing. Was hung up on/repeatedly put on hold without even being told. Was told order would be ready in 15 minutes, received the order in 30. Thirty minutes is fine but please don't say it will be ready in half the time. They forgot garlic sauce, and the peppers that were supposed to be included since they were out of turnips. When I went back and said they forgot the sauce the woman stated it was only included with a chicken. Like I didn't just purchase a whole chicken.... this place is going downhill and that sucks. Just walked in after years of not being able to enjoy Ani's because I moved away from the area. After ordering my food I asked the female Chola looking worker if I could eat inside because it was too cold. Mind you no one was inside besides her over the counter, the cook, and myself. Needless to say, she denied me access to eat my warm meal inside and said I could eat out side in the cold. I've never felt so disrespected and feel management should do something like teach their employees what customer service is because it's what's going to keep there pay checks coming in on the regular. Ari's lost my business because I told her to cancel my order and walked away to type in this review. This place has gone downhill. I use to come here to get the gyro plate. The gyro plate was not good, and the rice was bad. I purchased two garlic butter's for 50cents each and they forgot to provide it when I left the place. I do not recommend this place, and to top it off, it has a B grade on the front door. read more

The veggie kabob plate was very nice and fresh, pilaf wasn't greasy and good amount of vegetables. Also got an order of the vegetarian combo with 5 sides and all in all very flavorful and what you'd expect. Potato salad is more American style with the mayo, so probably going to swap that out. I have been coming here for years. Very good Mediterranean food. Their family deal is amazingly priced and delicious. Their catering menu is also very affordable and they deliver as well. Highly recommend them. I just wished they added Armenian salad to their menu. read more

Went in today for dinner and like always the food was delicious! Usually when we come we have problems with the girls that work there. Last time we went these girls were really rude to us so that excluded us from coming back. But today we decided that we are craving it and went to eat. The lady in the front had really good customer service! She was funny and super nice. She actually made us feel comfortable. I didn't not get the name of her but she was a blonde women with a cool accent. We even helped her organize the trays by the trash because of course the customers make everything difficult and can't help her out since she was the only girl. read more

The chicken wrap and chicken plates are really good. They give you nice size of pita bread with hummus. Garlic sauce, salad and rice with your choice of meat. Chickens tender and not dry. Had a marvelous experience at Ani's today for lunch. Ordered a felafel sandwich, and a large hummus with a bag of pita. I took the order and drove across the street to eat in the parking lot, since I had to do some shopping. After unwrapping the sandwich, I was pleased to see a delectable-looking felafel, fried to a golden brown, not like some places where they kill it. I was about to start eating when I noticed that the pita bread was covered in some kind of fuzz. It was polyester fiber, like from a microfiber cloth. I tried taking it all off myself (I was hungry: I'm not too fancy to do so), but just couldn't. I needed a lint roller, so I took it back. They took their sweet time replacing it, and I immediately unwrapped the second sandwich. It looked exactly the same. The chef piped up, speaking Spanish (I'm fluent), telling the cashier that there was nothing wrong, and the bread was "todo limpio." He told her to give me my money back. I was able to show the cashier how the bread was covered with stuff. They didn't care: they gave me my money back, so I went hungry. It's pretty much what I would expect from a craphole like that in Montebello. I won't be back. read more

This will for sure be the first and last time I come here! The food is not great, it has no flavor whatsoever. We ordered the 1/4 chicken plate which also comes with rice, salad, and an appetizer. The "spicy chicken" plate is shredded chicken and you have to add Tapatío yourself to make it spicy. I ordered a side salad because I didn't realize a salad came with the chicken order and they wouldn't take it back. The lamb was okay,the pita bread was hard and the rice is one of the worst rice pilafs I've had. Cooks were nice but the cashier was rude. This is my favorite Mediterranean place. The meat is so good it's tender and not all burnt. The humus is really good the only place I eat humus from and the tabuli too. Their garlic sauce is perfect too at other places its spicy sometimes and at anis of course it's BOMB af good . The rice is really good too. Best rice than any other places I been too. Every time I go try another Mediterranean place I'm disappointed I didn't just go to anis where I'm never disappointed to eat there. Great place. I've lived in Montebello 30+ years. Over the years have always heard about how great Ani's Chicken was. But never tried it for myself. Until recently. Keep in mind, I love Mediterranean food. I went in on a Monday evening about 7:30pm. It was empty. The appearance of the place was very dated. Seems like the look of it has remained the same since it opened. I ordered a chicken kabob plate to go. Waited about 15 minutes for my order to be ready. Took it home and honestly as I was driving, had to roll down my windows because the smell of the food wasn't what I expected. It wasn't a rotten smell. But it wasn't a..mmmm smells so good, can't wait to eat it smell either. I would not recommend Ani's to anyone. I was really dissatisfied. My chicken was raw in the center. Out of the 5 Kabob pieces I could only eat one. The flavor was not enjoyable. It came with a salad which the lettuce was completely brown and wilted. I was shocked that they would actually serve that. The texture of the hummus was completely off and did not taste good. The only decent part of the plate was the rice pilaf which there was a ton of. I had the throw it away. I will not return there. And the following day my car smelled..still! I'm really surprised this place is still open and getting business. read more

I ordered the combo place so I could try both the chicken and beef kebabs. Beef was tender & juice, and the chicken was succulent. The hummus was totally legit and the sample tabuleh I had was SPOT ON. My only complaint is that the meat wasn't marinated, not marinated long enough, or the marinade itself was lacking. When I eat Lebanese/Middle Eastern kebab I expect it to be bursting with flavor. I want to at least taste the lemon and salt. Anni's kebabs were succulent but lacking in taste. I HOPE this establishment starts marinating its meats and salts it up just a tad. Only then could I give it 5 stars. The best thing about this place is the deli section with its authentic assorted picked veggies and vegetables dips like beets, tabuleh, red cabbage, artichoke salad, Babbage ganoush (eggplant dip), and many others. Stopped by yesterday driving down from the Valley towards Whittier with my wife and daughter. Salvadorean looking guy at front was very upset he had to get up and take our order.." what? What do you want?- " we would like a family meal, maybe the kabobs "- what? You want chicken? Starring at us as with condescending eyes..very uncomfortable. You Want it now? - yes we can wait..so the guy goes in and calls a lady...she comes up to the front and takes a phone call order, once she's done she is about to hang up and tells the customer "that was not one order, that was five orders !" And she was very upset. So she finally asks us what would we like and she says let me see if I can take you, we have many catering orders. You have to wait. Was going back in and we call her back and thank her and say we are leaving. This was a very bad experience, never treated that way in America before. These people were worse than the " Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld. I've had their food before and was good, but this last experience was beyond terrible, I was just waiting for them to literally yell at us to "go away"! I have finally graduated from ordering the half chicken special. I am here for dinner on a weekly basis and have tried the lamb which is soooo good! My bf had the chops and he says they were the tastiest, most moist in his entire life. There are 4 small chops with rice which is better than any other place. Another fave is the combo chicken and lamb, the wraps are delicious. We have tried just about everything but just can't get into the hummus but do love the garlic cucumber sauce. LOVE this place!!! But they were getting into this whole fabulous world of chicken. Understand, they wanted to pickup Walmart or Costco chicken for their little party as that's all they know. Chicken quest still moving on. I explained how Ani's makes a similar rotisserie chicken as Zankou so I thought it's worth a try for us to see how they compare. Explained how Ani's is an Armenian take on Zankou's Beirut version of the same. blah blah blah. Also that Ani's is super close and a lot cheaper (my dad gets off that word big time). In comparison to Zankou the humus was definitely more tangy and had a stronger cumin flavor. Also, the chicken was definitely on the dry side and not nearly as flavorful nor juicy as Zankou's. My dad doesn't talk in those terms. Within 30 seconds while stuffing chicken, hummus, and garlic spread into his mouth he started saying, "the other place was better". Next, 30 seconds, "the other place was better", Multiply this by 5 or 10 times and you get the picture. I was saying, "Dad, don't talk with food in your mouth, I can see it". This was possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had. After waiting 45 minutes for our food, and seeing multiple other parties that had arrived after us get served before us, the owner/manager put our food outside without telling us, and when we finally tried to cancel the order to leave, he yelled at one of my companions and told her not to complain because he was old enough to be her father. He also had some choice four letter words for her. All-in-all a terrible experience for mediocre food. Avoid this restaurant like the plague. Located near Down Town Montebello is this gem called Ani's BBQ Chicken. It's a freakin HUGE place with tons of parking spot. The whole place is pretty chill cozy interior nice people working here and very attentive. This would totally fit for a perfect date spot. I'm serious this place is awesome!!! Nah I'm just fuck*ng with you. It's a small spot in Montebello that could probably seat 20 people inside and 10 outside. Small straight up no bullshit place that serves great chicken! I was planning to head to Zankou but I went here instead just to try it and I wasn't disappointed at all. I ordered the special #2 which is half chicken with rice salad and pita bread, I also ordered a piece of lula kabob just to try it. The only thing that sucks is that I didn't pay attention to the big ass sign in front that says $6.99 for a whole rotisserie chicken!
