Had the patty melt. It was insanely good. The entire menu looks great. Been on hedges for 50 years. This is good food.

What a delightful surprise! A couple of foodie friends and I decided to check out a couple spots in…read moreSaratoga and we landed on a new spot, Familiar Creature. We had read that it was the same people who run Hamlet and Ghost, so we wanted to check it out. The inside is gorgeous, bright and welcoming. Very cute wine bar vibes with excellent cocktails and a small, but mighty, menu. All of our cocktails were gorgeous and well crafted, even some great mocktails. The menu is Montreal inspired, which we noticed immediately, and loved. We just wanted to split a couple things to try, so we ordered the poutine with duck confit and the steak tartare. The Poutine was fabulous! They ultra crispy house made fries had such good flavor on their own, but were made incredible with the gravy, melty cheese curds and decadent duck. This dish was amazing. The steak tartare was also very good and fresh, the house made chips were also killer. Last but not least, the maple soft serve. Heavenly! Ultra creamy and smooth with a great depth of maple flavor. The caramel swirl and crunchy nibs on the top were so good. I am not a big sweets person, but I would order this again for sure. Delicious. This is a hidden gem and surprised us all! I can't believe I haven't heard more about this place. 10/10 recommend.

Every bite was delicious, and I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. The atmosphere inside was lively, the beverage selection was extensive, and the service felt genuinely thoughtful and intentional. Definitely a place we'll be returning to.

My second visit to Mystico Cucina Italiana, and somehow it was just as impressive -- if not better…read more-- than the first. Consistency like this is rare, and it says everything about the standards they keep. I started with the Pomegranate Granita Oysters, and wow. Bright, refreshing, unbelievably fresh, and balanced perfectly. They were the kind of oysters you slow down for because you don't want the bite to end. I ordered the duck ragu again because I couldn't stop thinking about it from my last visit -- and once again, absolute perfection. Rich, comforting, layered with flavor, and yes... I cleaned the plate spotless. Not a drop left behind. From the hospitality to the execution of every dish, everything about this restaurant screams class, quality, and a superb dining experience. The team makes you feel welcome, the food exceeds expectations, and you leave already planning your next reservation. Manchester is lucky to have a place like this.

It's very new agey and different for the sake of being different. But, the pasta was delicious and high quality! The place has a major attitude problem, though. The aesthetics are off-putting and attract a crowd of the worst types of people. Had to listen to nothing but whiny spite and anger my entire meal from multiple groups of guests. The waiter was the worst aspect, though. I didn't even know he worked there when he approached me. He was dressed down more than a lot of homeless people I've seen. He also shared that same attitude of the guests and made my business feel like an inconvenience the entire time, having the nerve to expect a tip for bringing my food out to me, which I would have just done myself to avoid him. I can recommend carryout, if you absolutely have to have some pasta in this area, but not eating in, and don't get anything that seems weird on the menu. We left so glad that we picked it! The restaurant is small with a limited number of high tops inside, a bar, and a few tables outside. The decorations and vibes are adorable. We were impressed from start to finish. Peter, our waiter, was friendly and chatty (without being too chatty), which we really appreciated, and he definitely nailed small-town Vermont charm. One of us ordered the Salty Chihuahua drink. It was tasty and very well priced. One of us started with a small green salad which was loaded with olives and feta- yum!! There was not a single bite of food that wasn't delicious. It blew us away. We ordered three entrees: chicken sliders, grande salad, and a special: the summer squash skillet, which we added meatballs to. We will be talking about and figuring out what was in those meatballs for years to come. The dishes were on the smaller side, but the prices reflect the amazing quality of the food. We are three New Yorkers with lots of opinions and high standards when it comes to what we eat. Brix exceeded those standards. We have a ski condo on Stratton and don't often make the drive into Rutland, but any time we do, it's guaranteed we will be eating at Brix.

The Thirsty Owl is…read moreowned by the Fjnger Lake Vineyard of the same name and we were drawn in by a Saratoga Restaurant week special and we had a nice lunch in a surprising venue. First, I gotta say that parking was a bear. There is a small lot behind where there is an entry direct to the bar area. That lot was full and spaces that were open were marked for other business and threats of being towed, same with the adjoining lot. We did find a spot about 150 yards away in the street. We sat at the bar area (because the dining room was full with reservations for lunch?!?) which was in a bright open room filled with wine by the bottle for sale. All wine is bottled by Thirsty Owl Vinyards, beer on tap is local beer and alcohol is NYS distilled. We were immediately attended to. Every bottle for sale is also sold by the glass and the bartenders will tell you about the wine and its characteristics- very knowledgeable! (husband and wife owners perhaps?) Chardonnay was decent as was the German white. I would stick with semi sweet or sweet. A good hint- most people were drinking the Sangria. I had the burger and chose the pumpkin soup and both were great! Wife had the vegetarian flatbread, which was a little bland. Could have used more balsamic vinaigrette. Local beer was very good. If you're a serious oenophile, you'll know about NYS wine, so this might not be the greatest place for you. That being said this is a very nice place, service is top notch attentive and knowledgeable. If you favor local NY wine, beer and spirits, this place is for you! 2 lunch entree specials, two glasses of wine ($10 & 11) and two beers was $72 ($30 of that was food) before tip. Enjoy!
