Deluxe Meals/ Thali, Non Veg Budget Thali

Probably the most authentic South Tamil Nadu cuisine in the Bay Area. The Parotta and curries are awesome. The biryani tasted very authentic. The portion size was also very generous. I got the Non Veg Meals - It was great. A bit understaffed but very friendly service. The ambiance could be improved but i guess that's part of the fun. It reminded me of a typical mess in Madurai.

The food is amazing here I highly recommend if you're looking for Indian food to go to this restaurant absolutely delicious. The service was great.

We ordered their non-veg thali. Everything was really good except for the rasam. The cilantro was a bit too slimy (not sure if it went bad). I came here last week during a weekday evening. So not sure if it was a change in chef during the weekday. Service was good and there were seats to dine inside.

A cozy spot serving South Indian Chettinadu cuisine in Mountain View since ages. We've frequented this establishment several times over the years and after a recent visit, I thought I'd finally leave a review. The food and service are great here. I usually go for the Non-vegetarian Thali. Their dosas are fresh and flavorful. Pro tip: ask for the ghee dosa - extra crispy - thank me later. Their Madurai Kari Chicken Dosa and Chicken 65 are my favorite. Their Mutton Chettinadu gravy recently was a disappointment though. If you are craving spicy Chettinadu cuisine - give this place a try

I was so sad ordered 6 items, only ate the FRIES even though we were hungry the food was so bad I threw it. The cut mirch looked like pakora and the MIRCH WASNT IN THE CHAT. I love lamb also threw that away although I tried to like it. I'm just so disappointed.

    Idly with fish curry

We ordered takeout from here. We got Idly with fish curry, Fish 65, and egg kothu paratha. The food is extremely spicy here, so if you can't handle the heat, then stay away from this place. I had to dilute the curry with yogurt to make it palatable, but that's just me; I can't handle the spice. My husband, on the other hand, does appreciate spicy food and enjoyed it. Good selection of items on the menu, and food is usually ready quickly.

I normally don't factor in ambiance unless it's at one of the extremes. We dined in and got one of the tables next to the window. The bottom of the window had a thick layer of dirt. One might say how does it matter as long as it's not on the food. Well, the cutlery they put for self service was dirty as well. I had to dip all the spoons and forks in fresh water and wipe them out before we used them. The restaurant is not large, they barely had about six tables so I couldn't see why they had difficulty maintaining it. By this point I was skeptical of the cleanliness of the kitchen as the dining area was in such a pathetic state. We got some veg and non veg thalis and a plate of chicken 65. As advertised, the thalis came out on steel trays lined with banana leaf. But the rest of the dishes on the leaf were served on plastic and paper cups. The thali came with a South Indian style flaky paratha, rice, Kurma, chole, some vegetable curries, rasam, sambar, yoghurt and a dessert which had food coloring. I could see why the place was popular inspite of the cleanliness of the restaurant, the food was really good. The paratha and Kurma combination was on point, absolutely delectable. I enjoyed the rasam and rice combo as well.

    Cheese Dosa (rating: 4/5)

Heard great things about Annachikadai from my Indian coworker so we were super excited to check it out. In addition to our own entrees, we shared a cheese dosa and a chapathi. I got myself an Annachi Chicken Salina. The Annachi Chicken Salina was overly salty and oily. The chicken was floating on top of oil (see attached photo). Even with chapathi, the chicken was too salty for me to take more than two bites. Can't imagine how much seasoning they put in there. Only thing I appreciate was how spicy it was - probably the spiciest Indian food I've had in a while. Both the cheese dosa and the chapathi received good reviews. The surface of the dosa was slightly more greasy than I preferred, but it was still tasty. We also ordered lentil soup for entrees. The lentil soup was apparently tasty but much lighter than expected (clear instead of thick broth).

I generally avoid omelettes getting scrambles instead because restaurants tend to overcook the eggs. Our dishes were prepared with quality and flavor in mind. I personally had the crab omelette and left no crumbs behind. The potatoes were well seasoned and wish I had enough room in my tummy to finish them off! The drip coffee was bold and delicious not watered down at all! Finally, we shared the 2 stack biscoff pancakes for a sweet finish. The pancakes were bouncy with biscoff sauce and a mound of whipped cream. This was mouth wateringly delicious. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but this was so yummy. This isn't a traditional sit down service but counter staff were friendly and efficient. There is a small parking lot off to the side and there is indoor and patio seating. Coffee was nice as well, and they kept coming by to refill, which was nice and needed. However disaster struck when one of the waiters knocked off a tray from a ledge right by our table. The tray crashed onto our table and spilled water, hot coffee, and creamer all over me, and our under two year old who started crying. I rushed over to check for burns from the coffee, but luckily it was okay. After the clean-up I was waiting to see if anyone might come by to ask if anything was needed, let me know if I could get more food since I wasn't entirely finished, or at least apologize and comp our meal. Unfortunately I didn't get any replacement food, and they brought the bill and mentioned that we didn't have to pay for coffee...$68 pre-tip was a little upsetting after our experience, even though I know accidents can happen... We recently celebrated my mom's 74th birthday there, and the team made the occasion feel incredibly special. They welcomed her back like family, making it feel less like a birthday celebration and more like a heartfelt "welcome back." They even surprised her with a candle on our favorite carrot cake--a simple but thoughtful gesture that meant so much to all of us. Our family favorites are the Vegetarian Minestrone and the house garlic bread--both are always absolutely scrumptious and consistently delicious. It's comforting to know that every visit brings the same fresh, flavorful food we've come to love. A special thank you to Estanphy, Ishmael (the amazing barista), and Owen, who always greet us with genuine kindness and professionalism. Their warmth makes every visit feel personal and memorable. And to the talented prep cooks and chefs working behind the scenes--thank you for the care, consistency, and passion you put into every meal. You're the reason everything is so fresh, delicious, and dependable every single time. It's rare to find a place that delivers both incredible food and such heartfelt hospitality, visit after visit. Cafe Barrone isn't just a café--it's a place where people are remembered, celebrated, and genuinely cared for. Thank you to the entire team for making our family's moments, both big and small, so meaningful. We can't wait to come back!

We came on a Sunday around 10:30am. For two people there was barely any wait to order. The food did take quite a while to come out though. $80+ after tip. My husband and I agreed that we are happy we tried it however we think we can get better brunch for the price point. I understand it's a little more expensive because of this area. our favorite thing was the French toast. If we do come back, I think we will get just the French toast and drinks.

This cafe is super nice to visit on a sunny morning - I usually like to get a cup of coffee and pastry for breakfast and just chill outside and chat. The service is good and the coffee is always good and consistent here. I always order an iced latte and there's never been any issues.

I found this lovely café by chance driving by when I searched for a quick place to stop and work…read moreremotely before at an appointment at lunchtime in Palo Alto. I'm so happy I did because it's one of the few places that has a nice London Fog. I love that when you get your coffee "for here" it comes in actual ceramic mugs instead of plastic or paper. Thanks for creating less waste this way They even have metal utensils too! There is a long table inside with an outlet extension for working that could comfortably seat 6 people, but up to 10 if you really wanted to. Inside, it's bright with all the storefront glass and spacious with its open strut ceiling concept. Aside from coffee and tea, they also have salads, croffles, tartines of various combinations, and pastries so you can grab a quick bite or dessert too. Parking is limited right in front of the café but there's another parking lot in the area so I wouldn't worry about parking here either. The cloud 9 name and theme is so clever since it is right by an aviation club. The music inside is light and unobtrusive. Outside there's a peaceful, quiet patio with shade, sun, and flowers. Absolutely magical.
