This was quite an interesting experience. We were a party of 10. When we first arrived we were told they didn't have a place to seat us together so we asked if we could just have two booths as there was plenty of seating open and this isn't a restaurant that takes reservations. The hostess walked away again and then returned and said she could seat us. We were sat at a long table together which was interesting given we were initially told they had no seating together for us. We were sat and not spoken to for about 15 mins. Someone in our party had to ask if we had a server. When our server first came to our table she tossed down straws and asked for our drink order. We stated our orders and she wrote them down but then with a frustrated tone she said she couldn't hear so we repeated all 10 drink orders again. We almost got up and walked away after that as it was initially very off putting. However, the server did turn it around and she was great after that initial interaction. I'm sure she was stressed and just had a moment. As for the food it's exactly what you'd expect from a local American Italian restaurant. The food wasn't bad but also not noteworthy.

    Baked ziti pizza - yummy

Very good baked ziti pizza. It would have been better with a little more ricotta, but otherwise, I was very pleased. I also ordered shrimp pasta but didn't get to take a photo. I asked for extra garlic which made it yummy! But a little too much lemon. Good experience overall.

Where is the pepperoni? Oh right, extra onion to make up for it!

Just had the worst customer service possible. We ordered a large pizza, garlic bread and a salad and when it arrived, the pizza was no where near what we ordered. We ordered pepperoni on 1/2 the pizza and mushrooms, onions on the other 1/2 and green peppers on all of it. As you can see, no pepperoni and onions on all of it. We called Anna's to let them know and was told by the owner that it wasn't their problem and to contact DoorDash to resolve it. She never asked what was wrong with it nor did she admit they were at fault. She just proceeded to blame DoorDash. Well, as you can see from the receipt, it was not Doordash's fault. Terrible terrible service!

Great Italian spot in Midlothian on Hull Street! The food here is always great - I have been coming for 4 years, mostly for lunch as it is right next to my work. It is usually pretty busy, and is for dinner to, for good reason! This is definitely my top pizza spot in Midlothian, and is one of the best in the Richmond area as a whole! The cheese pizza is great, but their topping pizzas are good too (the works, pepperoni, Buffalo chicken, etc. come loaded with toppings!) Their wraps, subs, and sandwiches are also great. Prices are very fair, and this place is a great value. I always leave happy with my choice to come here! Would definitely recommend and return here

Appetizer sampler Choose any 3 (Mushrooms, mozzarella, ravioli with jalapeño)

The purpose of any review I write is to help steer others in ordering what might be better than maybe something else so...here we go! I'm not really sure what name this restaurant really goes by. It's Anna's Pizza here on Yelp but the menu says Anna's Italian Restaurant & Pizza so...I'll just get that part out of the way. This was our very first visit! We were greeted by a very nice and peppy gal, which was a wonderful touch! The ambiance is cozy but it's too bad they don't kick it up a notch with maybe some nice ambient Italian music. Instead of Italian music they had contemporary 80's pop tunes playing overhead (sigh). :( We were seated.... I was really craving a martini but we could tell that even with a full bar this might not be a very popular drink. Well...this must be the case, as we were told they were out of olives. So we ordered our martini's non-dirty. They also came in champagne flutes. (Hey, at least I got my martini!) The appetizers.... We ordered a 3-choice sampler of fried mushrooms, fried mozzarella, and fried ravioli. The fried mushrooms (YUM!!!!) They were fried but had great mushroom flavor! We also got Fried Mozzarella which also were very good! Our last our sampler platter order was the fried ravioli. They have three filling choices. We went with their jalapeño filling and let me tell ya-these didn't disappoint! Not spicy - but great flavor. The dipping sauce for the whole dish was a type of cheesy marinara which fit well and gave some color to its overall bland presentation, which for me was the only downside. I mean...I know it can be costly...even for maybe just a little lemon wedge and sprig of parsley so-eh. Our kids ordered lemonades (they come in a bottle) and garlic cheese bread to start. The garlic cheese bread looked AMAZING and our kids absolutely loved it! The entrees.... Our eldest ordered a sausage pizza (it looked amazing!) and really enjoyed it, while our youngest ordered fettuccini alfredo (no chicken). The alfredo came with a soup or salad. Youngest chose the minestrone -which turned out to be a big hit! Both kids said they would most certainly come back to eat here again! Now on to our entrees... Again, this is just to help others to make the best decision possible of what to order when they visit Anna's... Our entrees came with a choice of soup or salad. My date and I chose a salad for ours and I've gotta say that we LOVED those salads! We both ordered blue cheese dressing (that come on the side / are not mixed in the salad). We especially LOVED the chunks of blue cheese-YUM! I ordered the Chicken Marsala W/ Mushrooms and my date ordered the meat lasagna. The portions are pretty large and quite heavy/filling. My Marsala had a nice wine kick but overall but the entrée itself seemed really heavy-maybe too much flour? I really don't know but I will most likely NEVER order it again as I was really turned off by this dish. My date liked his lasagna but said it filled him up pretty fast. He added that he thought the portion was enough for 4 people. The wines... I ordered a glass of Toscana and my date ordered a glass of Chianti. I LOVED the Chianti so much that I switched glasses with my date! Dessert.... Our server was wonderful and super sweet and was correct on the dishes she suggested, one being their Limoncello dessert-it was a big hit! So all in all .....not the Italian experience I was expecting but it was a WONDERFUL night out with our family and an experience I felt was worth sharing here on Yelp, especially for someone else it might benefit. Thanks for reading! "Fino alla prossima volta...."

    Another perfect pizza!! The Works!

After a long absence I had a hankering for pizza & went to my favorite place & server who knew exactly how I like my pizza: thin crust & burnt, ok, crispy crispy. That's exactly what I got AND got a table visit from the maker, Antonio to check how it was. Quite a nice guy, he aims to please. Btw his dad who is there, is also a considerate nice guy. It's a family setting with a lot of laughter and a welcoming greeting.

Everything on the plate had its own distinct textures and flavors. Even had leftovers. (This never happens to me with fish.) My friend had the seafood paella. Beautiful dish. No reservations but I was able to be seated immediately and was given complimentary herb crusted bread with oil/balsamic vinegar mixture for dipping. The bread was very tasty however the olive oil was very "oily" and overpowering flavor wise. I ended up pouring most of the olive oil out and leaving the balsamic vinegar for dipping and that did the trick. The bread was very light and airy. Highly recommend 10/10! I ordered the Maria's Margarita ($14) for a beverage. I did request to substitute the orange juice for pineapple juice. Not sure if this significantly changed the profile of the drink but I anticipated it being sweeter than it was. It was just okay, nothing spectacular. I likely wouldn't order it again. I ordered two entrees: crabcake ($25) and chicken Alfredo ($24). The alfredo felt a little elevated with mafaldine noodles in lieu of traditional fettuccine. I wanted to love this dish but it lacked flavor and seasoning. When I added salt it definitely tasted much better and was more enjoyable. Some pieces of chicken texture was off and hard. The second entree, the crabcake was flavorful, but very different than any other crabcake I've ever tasted. It had 2 sauces on the side: chipotle aioli and eggplant puree. The sauces were competing interests. Also the makeup of the crabcake felt like there was more breading base in place of actual crabmeat. Additionally, I was very surprised it only came with one small crabcake especially for $25. That price seems a little steep, in my opinion. I wanted so much to love this place especially with all the good reviews but it fell a little flat and left me disappointed overall. The food arrived pretty quickly and it didn't seem busy. My server John was very friendly, helpful and attentive so the service was great, no complaints. The venue is absolutely beautiful and very intimate. They have 2 sides and the bar area is located in the middle. Oh and before I forget, the hostess Irving was very sweet, super helpful and appreciative of the feedback I gave directly to him about my experience overall. My total was $66.78 and with tip my overall bill came to $80. I'm undecided on whether I will be returning. I need to think on it some more. The 3 stars given are mostly for the overall beauty of the restaurant, service, and the delicious bread.

At our table standing was a youthful warm smile waiting that made us feel ok to stay. I overheard someone calling the name of the woman at the door, and they said Patricia. Our server's name was Jocelyn and she was very delightful. Our server made suggestions and explained that most of the pasta is made in house. Still observing and listening. OMG, the woman is the manager. Mam, I'm sure you will be pleased to know that we will NOT return. She walked by several times smiling and conversing warmly with other guests. This is an authentic looking and a bit dated Italian Restaurant. I'll be brief here. I had the spaghetti and meat sauce. The pasta had that obvious taste of homemade and the sauce as well. The bread was homemade with the potential to be good, if it was warm and soft, not crunchy. I had the salad packaged to go. Appetizer was fried zucchini that was golden brown, crunchy and flavorful. RVA has MANY Choices of restaurants to choose and I should've known better.

Still about a three star experience although it has a potential to be a 4.5/5. The hostess…read moresituation is completely disheveled, as it was the last two times I came here, so they haven't worked that out yet. The sign says "wait to be seated", but there's no one attending the hostess station. This is a common, recurring problem here. After a solid five minutes of standing there with no greeting from anyone, a waiter sees us and comes over to ask how many. We tell him we have a reservation for three people, give him our name, and say he says OK I'll be right back. Let me see what I have set up. Off he goes, and we never see him again. So we stand there another 4 to 5 minutes, and a second waiter comes by to tend to us. We give our name and reservation details. He goes off, also never to be seen again. We wait another 3 to 4 minutes and a woman who looks like the hostess comes around and so for the third time we give our name reservation time and tell her that we requested a booth. She takes a long time, stacking menus and putting the paper part back into the menu sleeves, and then finally gets three menus together and takes us to a table. So then we have to say (again), no we requested a booth, and so then we have to stand by a dirty booth and wait for them to clean it. So the whole beginning of the dinner process is already a mess and that sets a terrible and frustrating tone for the evening. First experiences inside a restaurant are so important and they just don't recognize that here On to dinner. Our waitress comes over and she's lovely, friendly, and seems on top of things at the beginning . We order a couple of drinks and the meatball appetizer while we peruse the menu. A long time goes by and we get our drinks. And then another long time goes by with no appetizer appearing at the table and she comes to take our dinner order. (She had not yet read us the specials so we had to ask for what they were because we heard the waiter behind us giving the specials, but couldn't hear well enough to catch them-I'm pretty sure our waitress was gonna skip over reciting the specials-) . After again, another long amount of time our salads come out, but still no appetizer. So I mention..." we have a meatball appetizer coming right?". She says yes and heads off. (The appetizer should come before the salad, especially when it was ordered way before). So halfway through the salads, the meatballs come. Now I love a meatball and all varieties of a meatballs. These were super firm (like... it took a hard push with a knife to cut into them ), they were barely lukewarm, with a barely melted slab of mozzarella on top. Had they been hot, with the cheese nice and bubbly, they would have been pretty good despite being overly firm and super salty (and I love salt) Entrees came piping hot and were very good (mezze rigatoni and lobster ravioli, and a kids spaghetti) Garlic knots were delicious. Wine pour was great. I think the kitchen, not the waitress, was super slow which impacted our experience. And for a place that stays this busy, they need to hire a hostess to attend the front desk, so that guests are promptly welcomed and seating is managed efficiently. Menu is extensive and the place has great potential.

I went with the soup of the day which was chicken orzo. My mom chose the lamb gyro sandwich and for her side she went with the veggie of the day which was roasted Brussels sprouts with honey. Overall I thought the food was good. It was definitely well-seasoned. The orzo in the soup was a little mushy for my preference, but the fettuccine was a good texture. The white clam sauce was loaded with clams and garlic. I really enjoyed my dish. My mom enjoyed her gyro sandwich, I did take a small taste of the lamb and it was delicious. The Brussels sprouts were probably my favorite of everything though. They were roasted perfectly, still a little firm with some crispier toastier leaves in the mix and a sweet glaze.
