    Graduation cake
    Shalonda S.

I went here for the bakery 3 weeks ago to order a cake. When I say that it was sooooo good and the owner was so nice. I had the 10 inch almond flavored. It was a hit with my family. So much so that the next week I had another cake made for my daughter's college graduation. Highly recommend and I will be back to the restaurant to try the food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was nice and peaceful as well and the food smelled really good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Veggie Plate: Side Salad with Italian Dressing, Collard Greens, Rice and Gravy, and Yams

Today, we had the absolute privilege of visiting Annie Lee's Bakery and Diner as part of the Buy Black Business Bus Tour with the Melanin Market, and let me tell you--it was like being personally escorted into foodie heaven. From start to finish, this place delivered an experience so good it could probably write its own autobiography. Let's talk about my husband's order first: Oxtails. Now, these aren't even on the Saturday menu, but Jacob, our waiter (and now honorary family member), worked his magic and made it happen. If that's not next-level customer service, I don't know what is. He paired those oxtails with collard greens and sweet potatoes, and trust me, they were so good they practically demanded a standing ovation. I went the veggie route with collard greens, rice and gravy, a side salad, and yams--but because I don't play around when it comes to food, I added grilled shrimp. Every single item on our plates was seasoned with so much love and skill that my taste buds were basically doing the electric slide by the end. And the desserts? Oh, we weren't leaving without cake. Key Lime and Yellow Cake joined the party, but then the staff really outdid themselves. Someone casually dropped that it was our 21st wedding anniversary (thanks for snitching, Jacob!), and the staff surprised us with a song, more cake, and ice cream. I almost started bawling right there in the middle of the diner. Like, ugly cry bawling. Long story short, the food is a masterpiece, but the staff? They're what makes Annie Lee's truly special. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. I'll definitely be back for more--and not just for the food, but to hang out with the kind of people who make you feel like family from the moment you walk in. Annie Lee's, you've got my heart (and probably most of my paycheck).

Annie Lee's was good on the customer service side y'all, and by this I mean our party of four were seated right away and checked on more times than I can count but in a good way. I love how they have the young folks serving and waitressing, which seems great for the community. Angel, our waitress was really good and Lisa co-owner of the place was lovely to talk to, as she stopped by our table while we were finishing up our meal, to see how were were, which was appreciated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space was pretty large in size and there was a separate room for more private dinners.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone in my party enjoyed their food and as a note it was seasoned well, meaning it wasn't overly seasoned with salt, but with an array of flavors. The corn bread was just right and the veggies were super tasty. I'd definitely visit again.

    Lunch with my Brothers

I had lunch at Annie Lee's Bakery & Diner with about 15 men. The food and service was great even with a large party. It didn't take long. I highly recommend it for large gatherings.

We were invited to a surprise birthday celebration here tonight. It was our first time here. The dining area is spacious and has a bar along with very large TV's on the wall. Very cute barn doors lead to the bakery area where they have baked goods and ice cream. They offer daily specials today they had shrimp and grits, 20 piece fried shrimp with fries for $20, and seafood salad. We ordered two kids Mac and cheeses, the shrimp and grits , and a order of the 20 piece shrimp. For such a large gathering our food came out rather quickly. Everything was piping HOT!!! Everything was delicious and presently surprised how large the shrimp was. We also ended up heading over to the bakery side to get my toddlers ice cream and when I saw the bake goods I fall in love and had to have a slice of cake!!! It was hard to decide which one but I went with the lemon. The staff was excellent and helped make my friend's birthday party a success.

I happened to find this bakery/diner by chance. If you're not paying attention, you'd definitely miss the location. I just happen to be driving on Main Street and took a random turn into a Harvey's plaza. Located about two buildings over is Annie Lee's Bakery & Diner. I went close to closing time. The diner portion was closed by the time I got there, but the bakery was still open. I decided to try a red velvet cupcake. The cupcake was a nice size. There is also an area for ice cream as well. I thought that was pretty cool. The owner was also very nice. She even let me look in at the restaurant side. The establishment looked very nice on the inside. I'm excited to come back and try the food. It smelled really tasty.

Since this place close early I would say it's a great place for lunch or early dinner. Nice music and ambiance. Food was delicious and cooked to order. Desert looked delicious. Customer service is great.

I was so very pleasantly surprised by the freshness and taste of this food that I happened to stumble across. The place is beautiful inside, the staff friendly and food delicious. The perfect trifecta!

About to chow down on some good food for lunch!

This is a hidden gem for real! Food always fresh and hot..not to mention a bright smile from the staff.. Whiting fish, collard greens

Smothered pork chops, yellow rice, collard greens, mac n cheese and cornbread.

It's been a while since I had been here mostly due to how slow the services. But when I did go hear the food was pretty delicious.

Perfect spot when you're in the mood to treat yourself (or when you fully accept you're leaving with way more than you planned). Easily one of my favorite stops for pastries and snacks.

It might be even better if they added a few raisins to it. We'll be back for this item periodically. We also tried a mango float ($6). It was good, and had more whipped cream in it than the one I'm used to, but I've probably had slightly better examples. For $6, it's not a great value: smaller than the cinnamon roll and not as good. I might get it again, but probably not at that price. This remains one of my favorite bakeries in town, and we'll be back periodically. Update: We tried another cinnamon roll. This time we thought it was fantastic, the best thing I've eaten in a long time. 25 seconds microwaved again. We'll have to get one periodically.

The next morning, we had the sausage and scallion bun at home. I liked it, maybe more than the pork bun, and would get it again, though it had the advantage of being reheated at home in the microwave. My wife liked the dough, the hot dog less so (and I must admit the hot dog in the croissant we had a while ago at Cruffin & Tea was better). I'd get this again, though probably trying the regular hot dog bun instead of the scallion one next time. I'd asked the server if she could reheat our items when I bought them, but she said no, and didn't seem to understand English well. So far, I've preferred the savory things to the sweets here. Each item was $3-3.25, so a better value than the other bakeries I go to. I will return to this place periodically, but I still prefer places like Cruffin & Tea and Le Petit Paris, so I'm giving Mai Xiang Garden Bakery an average rating, 3 stars: pretty good, but not above average for a bakery, other than the good value.
