First off, it feels like a chain restaurant. Too many people working, low pop in the dining room, too many people handling us. Too many visits to the table even though drinks were full and we looked engaged in conversation. I love breakfast, but I was out for lunch so a burger sounded good. I got the benedict burger. I was right to be dubious about that combo. Eggs benedict is all about the subtlety of eggs, lemon, and delicate texture. On a burger with brisket, the combo was hideous. They smothered everything in clarified butter - the bun, egg, and the plate was greasy. The burger patty was way too thin. Thin is ok, but this thing was thinner than McD's. My workmate got a "salad", which was less than half a cup of spinach and mostly cheese and a bit of fruit. It was like we were given an FU for not ordering waffles. Waffle House is the superior choice next time. read more

Eating out with two small kids is difficult, but the team at the Sylvan Park ABEC made our experience phenomenal! From the warm greeting of multiple staff members to our waitress, Olivia, bringing out our kid's yogurt early so they had something to snack on while we waited for our food - this crew knows hospitality. Came on a Saturday morning for our first time. Waited about 45 minutes which wasn't too bad for us. Be ready to wait I think, it's a pretty popular place. I ordered a Bellini and it was delicious. My table also ordered a full order of the donuts. Also yummy! However, the app and drinks took about 40 minutes to come out. I'm pretty patient so it wasn't a huge deal but it's good to note.... not sure if that's normal or they were having a bad day. We mentioned it to our server and the food came out right after. So there's that. Lots of good food options to choose from. Good prices too. I had the cinnamon French toast, eggs, bacon, and a crab cake as a side. (I just wanted to try it!) Crab cake wasn't the best but I wasn't expecting a ton. But my entree was amazing! Food also took a little while to come out but it was very tasty and very good. My friends had the veggie scramble and then the southwestern scramble with grits. They loved their dishes as well. Grits were delicious as is (needed some salt though but that's normal), I should have added cheese to them or something to make them great though. All in all it's not horrible which is far short of an endorsement. First of all I ordered over-medium eggs and they came out hard. No runny yolk and they had that plastic like edge around the outside. Not great for an "egg" place. Secondly and most horrifically, I ordered their house-made sausage patty and it had SUGAR in it. You're welcome to interpret sausage any way you like, it's a free country, but if you put SUGAR in your country sausage you should be slapped silly and sent home with no supper. I'll use this space to admonish Porter Road Butcher for the same mistake. Country sausage has NO SUGAR, brown or otherwise. I would support a constitutional amendment to that end. Their City grits were good with gouda, green onion, tomato and chopped bacon but that doesn't make up for everything else and s certainly not a reason to go back. I've been before once and had a scramble with andouille and crawfish tails, both rather flavorless and only provided the texture of each. I'll will try it again someday. I said I wouldn't but I'm new to this and I was over exuberant when I said I wrote that. Amended! Everybody deserves a second and third chance, (I know I do!) and they're trying hard. A breakfast place with a bar. Interesting. Delightful. The food was decent--nothing extraordinary, but solid. I got the veggie omelette, which came with an english muffin and fruit. The food was just okay. I ordered the chicken and waffles with spicy maple syrup. The waffles were light and crispy, but the chicken pieces were weirdly skinny and about four inches long. This led to the chicken being just breading flavored and tough. The syrup lacked any hint of spice and generally was pretty flavorless. Love the shrimp and grits!! Last time there they were "out of grits" and I had the poached eggs and they were also really good. All the food has been delicious but sometimes the service is a little spotty (long wait for food, get the order wrong). Parking is a hassle but to be expected in that area. The only reason I'm rating this 2 stars is because the friendly staff. I was not really impressed with any of the items I ordered. Nothing extraordinary. Ordered the plain French toast and it was very dry, and just basic. The breakfast potatoes were dry and shriveled. My boyfriend really liked the bacon though. We ordered a side of toast and it was dry with no butter and burnt. The butter they served us was cold so it wouldn't spread on the toast. I sound super picky but I really didn't feel like our breakfast was worth the 31$ it came out to. We're here on vacation but this wouldn't be a stop we'd make again in the future, considering we were told it was an hour and a half wait for a table and then another 35-40 minutes until we got our food.
