If you've never been to Anselmo Vineyards you have to go! Last Friday night was the first time I've ever been there and I didn't want to leave. Our dinner was fantastic, not only in presentation, but in flavor. Word of caution: portions are HUGE. One of the salads can easily feed 4 people, so keep this in mind and don't order a salad per person. If you're a beef eater...you're going to be soooo happy! Again, giant chunks of meat, big enough to share. I had the vegetarian canneloni stuffed with greens, herbs, ricotta and 2 sauces (a creamy cheesy sauce and a sun-dried tomato sauce). We didn't have room for dessert, but I did get a look at them and they looked delicious and GIANT. One negative, and kind of a big one, we ordered a bottle of the 2007 merlot and it was delivered to the table already corked with no wine service whatsoever. Strange, especially for a winery.

Enjoying some wine next to their pond.

Came here for my wife and my 2nd year anniversary. We showed up around 3 and enjoyed their wine "flight" taster. After that we took a peaceful and beautiful stroll through the vineyard and up to a pond next to an old chapel. We brought some snacks along with us so we had a picnic and read a novel together. From there we headed back down to the restaurant for our dinner reservation. We both had a fantastic dinner and desert. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, while the food, wine, and atmosphere were terrific.

    Pizza done the right way!

I ended up buying some reds, whites, and the Angelica for gifts as well as tee shirts because of my incandescent time as a retreatant, but I must also encourage you to go at a time when the gift shop is open because the jams, honey, and walnuts they sell there are DELICIOUS. You'll have to walk out of the tasting room and up the walkway alongside the vines to the gift shop during their hours of operation, which seem to vary, but are customarily 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. They don't offer tastings of the walnuts, jams, or honey. When I got home and tried them, I wish they had since they are absolutely scrumptious and I would've bought more. I really wanted to buy raw walnuts because I had walked alongside the walnut trees during my retreat. However, they only sold the candied walnuts in the gift store. The candied walnuts are grown and made by the monks of New Clairvaux and the ingredients are: roasted walnuts, sugar, eggs, vanilla, salt, cardamom, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. I gave some to my friends in Berkeley who said they were "delicious and slightly addictive." I agree! The cayenne pepper is subtle, but the mix of the cardamom and cayenne is perfection. If I tried them in the gift shop, I would've bought every one they had on their shelves. The creamed honeys for sale are prepared by the Cistercian Nuns of the Redwoods Monastery. When I saw "almond," because I'd never seen honey from almond blossoms, I bought a few. I should've bought some of the other flavors. I didn't realize until I opened them that they had crushed almonds and orgeat or almond syrup in them! I love orgeat in cocktails, steamed milk, in pretty much anything so this creamed honey is absolutely divine. Again, if I'd known, I would've bought every single jar of it. So, as you'd expect at the Abbey, because they don't have tastings at the gift store, you'll have to purchase the food items on faith. I recommend you do.

Upon arrival we were offered a sample of their sangria which is made fresh every Saturday morning, which was so good and fresh tasting. (Spoiler alert, I left with a bottle). The service there was excellent, the gentleman that helped us was incredibly professional. Their entire facility is very cute, lots of spaces to lounge, including an upstairs which was a little warm until the A/C kicked on. A fan upstairs in the height of summer would've really elevated the space. The views from the second floor were incredible, very picturesque, along with the view from their stairwell. I'm excited to revisit in the fall time when it's not so hot outside. They had a lot of cute, fun, card games, puzzles, and other things to do. Lots of cozy nooks to sit in, couches, bar tops, lounger chairs, etc. which truly felt like the inviting space I have created in my own home. I am writing this review as I sit on my couch and enjoy a chilled glass of sangria and I encourage you to visit Odyssey at the very least, for their sangria. I will be back in the fall!

The service isn't too notch like some of the other wineries in the area (don't say hi when you walk in, you kind of have to wonder to figure out where to go/find someone to speak with). This is a very large property so you can sit in multiple places inside (upstairs and downstairs) and then outside in a few areas as well. We didn't try any of their foods but they did mention they have cheese and meats from local and non-local farms - I think Santa Rosa area? Overall it was nice but I wish the service was a little bit better and more welcoming.

They have non-alcoholic wine, beer, you name it. If you choose to taste some of their beverages go in with an open mind, these are non-alcoholic and will taste differently than alcoholic drinks. They also have drinks with kava if you're looking for something different. I got the lavender bitters, and if you buy them at the shop you get a 10% discount. It has a romantic vibe for wedding or special event! This winery is located off Ward Road in Oroville. It's close to town yet you feel you are in the Country!
