We travel to Bend occasionally for vacation. My wife loves Anthonys and usually wants to go there, but I have always resisted.....Mainly because it's a chain and I like to go to local places. I finally decided to give it a try and I couldn't be more happy about it. Our table had the seafood tower, crab cakes, steaks, Dungeness crab, appetizers, clam chowder and drinks, and everything else was awesome. It was very apparent that the chef/team is experienced and knows what they are doing. Everything was cooked perfectly, especially the crab-cakes, which are very easy to ruin. This place has a great atmosphere/view and the service was second to none. I am not sure that I've ever mentioned a server by name, but our server was Josh S. He was probably one of the better servers we have ever had and he really made the experience superb....if we had one more night in Bend left on our trip, we would have went back to this place again. We've been eating Keto for a while so restaurants aren't always the way to go, however this place had some great options. The waiter was an older gentleman who had the upmost patience with with all our questions. The salmon was perfectly grilled and the snap peas seemed poached. Delicious as well as the Cobb salad. You can modify the plates for Keto. Went there looking for a seafood salad and that's the only reason it's not 5 stars. They reduced their menu due to COVID. Slightly pricy for the options and situation, we'd go here all the time if it were a little more affordable or they had some additional menu items. read more

I was working in Bend a few days ago and had dinner in the bar. Service was terrible.....they tried to make up for it after they saw that I wasn't happy with being ignored. I ordered the cioppino for dinner, another huge disappointment. They wanted to give me whatever I wanted to replace it and quite frankly, if everything tasted like this I wasn't interested! I declined and picked out what seafood there was in the midst of the canned tomatoes.......it was more like soup with a few pieces of seafood thrown in. After I got home we went out for real cioppino at Huggo's! I have attached a picture, I had already pulled the lobster from the shell!! They have broth made from scratch, plenty of seafood, FABULOUS. Just went here realizing they didn't have oysters on a half shell, as we apologized for they time we wasted. Our waiter abruptly walked up to us and asked: " what happened?". I apologized and said we didn't know they didn't have oysters on the half shell. And the waiter said: "we just ran out actually but anywhere you go they aren't going to be good because this isn't the season". He's mistaken because in Portland they have oysters everywhere and they taste just fine to me. The customer service here needs to be amped up and the woman at the front needs a puppy cause the girl needs to smile. read more

Our experience with Anthony's so bad, we would never consider giving them a second chance. Let me preface my comments with this; my wife and I are in our fifties, we worked in the service industry all through college. We are extremely forgiving and easy customers to have. We dined at Anthony's on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy, not slammed. After being seated, we sat for 15 minutes without a single person coming to the table. Not one! On the cusp of leaving (which we should have done), I flagged down the nice young lady that seated us. She went and rounded up our waiter. Our waiter arrives (with a bit of an attitude), gives us an excuse that he was taking care of someone else. After the waiter leaves with our drink order, the busboy shows up, without a word, impatiently slams two FILTHY glasses of water on the table. Our food shows up, my wife's order is wrong. She asked for the dressing on the side. Not only did she not get it on the side, she didn't get dressing...at all! The waiter then proceeded to tell her she just couldn't see the dressing. Reluctantly, he retrieves the salad dressing she asked for. I ordered a $30 steak and a side salad. My steak was tough, chewy and had very little taste. After we solved the above dressing fiasco, I thought we had the salad issues solved...no such luck. My salad never showed up. When I asked the waiter, he shrugged and said he forgot. He did offer this..."your salad is just up there, do you want me to go get it?" I declined. My daytime job is the General Manager for a major online retailer. I understand the challenges a retail establishment faces. Other than the very sweet young lady that seated us...Anthony's failed to meet this customers needs or expectations...on any level! read more

Greg's Grill down the plaza was very busy for dinner. My boyfriend and I popped into Anthony's instead looking for a quick dinner, and were greeted by a young hostess who started to seat us. Followed by a, "Follow me!", another hostess stared at her and whispered, "No." We just watched in confusion as they whispered to each other "what?", "not yet", "okay..." The second hostess then turned to us and said, "We need to wait a little... Is 10 minutes okay with y'all?" The outside wasn't even full- there were definitely tables, but she wanted us to wait. Being the people we are and not wanting to cause any trouble, we said sure, we'll wait at the bar. She proceeded to whisper to us, "By the way, if you wait at the bar, I have advice for you. Close out your tab immediately after you're done. Makes it easier." Um... Okay... We sit down at the bar, and the bartender says to us, "You know you can't order drinks for other people, right?" My boyfriend replied, "uh, okay". He checks our IDs and we order some drinks. Another bartender comes by and asks, "Are you guys even 21?" The other bartender tells them we are good to go. How rude... You didn't have to phrase it like that. We get seated and wait a bit to order. Waitress was nice, but not very attentive. It wasn't that busy: by the time we we ordered, there were only 2 parties outside. It took a while to order (~15 min), and the food took a while to come out (~20 min). Food was fair priced. We split the bleu cheese salad. I got the cioppino, and my boyfriend got the rockfish with two drinks and the total was ~$70. The only reason I gave 2 stars is for the decent food. read more

We ate there twice this week. Both times the food and service were excellent. In particular, Troy was a way-above-average server. Very attentive even though the restaurant was very busy. Our calamaris were done exactly right (not at all soggy like Paul K's). The scallops werevery good and plentiful. I always like Anthony's. I have been going there for many years. Today, I slowed down and treated myself to a "proper lunch" during a work day. Every time I go there, they are consistently wonderful. Today was no different. Chris, the Bartender, was working really hard and wearing many hats. He was just so nice and he was a great server! Not to mention he made a great cocktail; like a Lemon Drop (Bee's Knees?) During this pandemic places are understandably stretched thin. You would have never known it by the exceptional food and service. The food was delicious. I ordered the Salmon and it was so fresh and tasty. The coup de gras was that the vegetables looked and tasted great. So many restaurants cannot cook veggies well, but these chefs nailed it. I went by and told the chefs so. Mother's Day brunch was outstanding! 2 thumbs up. We each had something different and everyone was delighted. Highly recommend the Eggs Benedict with soft and tasty potatoes or the Blueberry Crepes for a lighter fair. Service is top notch and professional. When we arrived we were instantly told that they were out of anything that had crab involved in the menu. We were also told that they were out of Rock fish. We were then escorted to our table. When we looked at the menu more than half the menu involved crab. The atmosphere was loud and we could barely hear each other from across the table. The clam chowder was good tasting but could have been a little thicker like a chowder. The steak had great flavor. We might be willing to give this place another try at another time and different location given they had what was on the menu. The outdoor seating looked like it was a beautiful scene but it was booked full. When we made our reservations it seemed promising given it was our wedding anniversary we were told we would be seated in a great location but again we were seated in any normal spot that wasn't any different than anyone else's. read more

What I consumed: I had a Moscow mule and oysters on the half shell. Food Quality: The drink was ok and so were the oysters. The oysters were smaller than I expected and one of the oysters was bad. Tasted like it had been sitting in the sun all day. Environment: It's clean but it was really cold. I ended up wearing my jacket through the entire dinner. Service: My server was great. She was very attentive when appropriate and have a lot of good information on the oysters they get and upcoming events. Appearance: This Anthony's isn't divey but it isn't worthy of a tux either. The interior appearance of the restaurant was worthy of 3 stars. Overall: I've been here before and I would come again. The food isn't the best but it's reliable. I had a pleasurable experience here. It was a 75ish beautiful sunny day today. Jumped onto the back deck of this restaurant and was politely greeted by a server. She said I could sit wherever I want. She brought water for my dog and myself before I even asked. The food was pretty good. I loved the clam chowder. The shrimp and crab salad was pretty basic but it was light and tasty. I had a couple drinks with the huckleberry. A huckleberry lemonade and a daiquiri. Sorry I'm not a huge beer guy but I am kinds huge. Lol. As the drinks made their way down the hatch the good feelings just climbed. This is a chill place with a great waterfront view that is very so friendly. We dined at Anthony's on Friday, June 1st and chose to sit at the small, open kitchen/bar area as we love to watch chefs cook. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Chef Jim Morris and watch him work his magic with seafood. We opted for the Sunset dinners as they come with choice of appetizer, soup or salad, entree and dessert all for $24.95. What an outstanding deal! We both started with the bay shrimp cocktail, the Mr. had chowder while I opted for the wedge salad with blue cheese and yes, more bay shrimp! The chef recommended the smoked salmon fettuccine to my husband and though neither of us are huge fans of salmon, this was an exceptional dish. The chef was kind enough to give us a sample of the smoked salmon, too. I had the shrimp scampi and, OMG, they don't skimp on the shrimp. The rice with golden raisins and almonds was incredible as was the grilled asparagus. The sourdough bread was also delicious and I saved a piece to sop up the garlic lemon butter the shrimp bathed in. Mmmm...sheer heaven! We both ended the dinner with burnt cream for a light dessert. Again, perfect portion to close out our fabulous Sunset dinners. Crunchy sugar crust with sublime cream underneath (creme brûlée). Anthony's is without a doubt one of THE best restaurants we have found since relocating to central Oregon last summer. We will definitely be back often! Can't wait to try the halibut! read more

Arriving from Kansas City to Portland we found on trip advisor that Anthony's was ranked #1. Upon arriving we found the hostess was very polite and accommodating. While we were waiting for our outside table, with a view of the river we sat at the bar. It makes Mo's look like dog food, and I AM a fan of Mo's on the Oregon coast. Let me break it down for you: 1. It was thick. Yes! Beautiful thick, creamy consistency. 2. It was clammy. Substantial chunks in every bite. There was no fishing around the bottom hoping for that one more tiny clam bit. They were plentiful. 3. Red potatoes. Cut just nice and small, fresh, soft, rich, wow. 4. Rich- but not so much to make you feel like you overindulged. How was it all so fresh not being on the coast? Magic ‍. This is my ideal clam chowder. I like it to have a spoon filled with food and not just 'milk' each time. If this is also how you roll, roll on into Anthony's! Oh, I also had the coconut shrimp. That was fresh and fine too. Let's get back to the chowder. I had a cup. It was so good and I wanted everyone at the table to try it so I ordered an additional bowl, a large, so I had a midnight snack for later. Couple that with their moist fresh sourdough bread....(cue the Homer Simpson slobbering sound bite). That was Saturday afternoon, today is Monday, my birthday, and guess where we are going for dinner? Yep. Guess why? Well, yes, the clam chowder. I live in Arizona, was here for just the weekend and will be back next time I'm in town. Oh, I guess I should add the ambiance was fantastic, relaxing, beautiful, great local view, happy server and hostess. Poor management and low quantity food for exorbitant prices, Ive had a few good meals there, but three fairly small pieces of salmon in 19$ fish and chips, which two out of three times has been vastly undercooked while they comped the meal once before and one undercooked meal is fine, as everybody makes mistakes. However two undercooked meals at a restaurant that exclusively serves seafood is ridiculous. And i would hardly blame the chef, as a manager should be making sure that all the food is getting cooked, and when its not he should not be trying to make it right and not asking the customer what he should do about it. read more

How can a restaurant (that also is a seafood company that sources their own seafood) run out of almost their entire seafood lineup for dinner - at 6:30??? Yes, during the fresh salmon season they had no King Salmon, no Copper Salmon (why we came) and even no halibut as a distant 3rd place consolation prize. So the recommendation was to have the rockfish.... yes, a white fish.... which was..... yes, white fish. Meh. I could have opted for steak, but the long-standing rule I have is no steak at seafood joints and vice versa. Anyway, service was pleasant but spotty. Advice to others? This place has a stunning view. Its cool to hang out in the dining room, watch the sun set, and see people by the dozens stand up paddlesurfing, rafting and what not. It is a very cool location. The restaurant itself is top notch...easily one of the nicest in Bend. The food here is right above mediocre, at best. I can't really I really like the ambiance here and that is what I will return for. The service is great. Everyone here seems to have the customer in mind. That is refreshing. read more

Our first visit to Anthony's was a disappointment as far as the service was concerned. After receiving a response to our review, a phone call, email and a complimentary gift card, we went back tonight to give it a second chance. Tonight was much improved as we were seated promptly, water delivered immediately and our waiter came to greet us with a great attitude and smile. Everything about the timing tonight was spot on, as our waiter, the bus boys and even a floor manager came at different times to serve us or check on us. The Caesar salads were average, but the blue cheese salad was definitely above average with the hazelnuts added in. The seafood pasta was quite good. The shrimp scampi, average. Overall, we had a good meal, excellent service and appreciate the opportunity to have a nice dining experience. Nice work Anthony's. read more

Just another chain restaurant with the same old bland tasteless food......don't know what possessed us to have lunch here, maybe the great location on the Deschutes, but we regretted it as soon as they told us they didn't have any IPA's on tap......keep in mind this is Bend, the beer capitol of possibly the most beercentric state in the country. Anyway, avoid this place like the plague.....the bread, the clam chowder and the blackened rockfish tacos were essentially indistinguishable from each other.....think wonder bread, blech!!!! read more

Went here with family on Christmas for our dinner. We made reservations so we were seated right away. It was really busy so they were sold out of the rib eye steaks, and another great cut. But they were still able to provide a yummy cut of steak. My Brother in law and I ordered the scallops, and his wife had the salmon. Her Sister, and my guy had the steak. All of us were really impressed, and the quality was great. No complaints from this foodie! 4 stars for location, 5 stars for scenery (you just CAN'T go wrong with Deschutes River views), 3 stars for food, 2 stars for service, 1 star for parking being a b*tch. Yep, this averages out to be a 3 star dining experience. I've been to Anthony's three times over the past two months for happy hour. Their happy hour menu is seemingly great, but only about half of the menu items are actually good (the salmon swimmers are pretty tasty), while the others are downright terrible (tip: avoid the ahi nachos at all cost!). Additionally, the happy hour cocktails are way weak. Don't go there expecting to feel "happy" if you're ordering happy hour drinks. I can't really speak about the regular dinner/lunch menu, as I avoid paying those kinds of prices for chain restaurant food. Oh! And the servers get SO ticked off when they figure out that you're there for happy hour--and they don't even try to hide it! A word of advice to the Anthony's servers: You'll make decent tips off of a happy hour-only dining group of ladies if you keep the drinks coming. We're only weak tippers when we're served one watered down cocktail and you don't come back after the food is served. A buzzed patron is a tipping patron. Or at least that's how I work. ;) read more

The restaurant and the setting are gorgeous. Trendy and upscale. We dined on patio and the sun setting over the Deschutes river was spectacular. Fire pits were awesome after the sun set to take the chill off. Its a great place unless you want to eat there. First the service was horrible. Maybe our server's cat died or some other event caused her a serious distraction but it was clear she didn't want to be there. Now on to the food. The seasonal salad was good but 8 dollars for a small salad? I expected more. The shrimp cocktail was about 400 tiny bay shrimp. Obviously frozen, cooked then refrozen then thawed for consumption. There was nothing on the menu to indicate they would be bay shimp. The oysters (fried) were super salty and overly breaded. The clam chowder was pretty good but didn't taste particular fresh. Go there for drinks maybe but only the beer. I also had a Moscow Mule and I'm pretty sure the bartender used diet soda and I know he skimped on the gin. read more

Good: Were able to seat our large party quickly. We did have a reservation so that was part of it, but they were ready even before the time. The table was fine, and the waiter was attentive to the kids' needs for food a little sooner and gave some menu suggestions to help with kid food planning. Once entrees ordered, there was quite a wait for food, but it did come out hot and all at once, and the table bread was very tasty. Somehow we also ended up with an extra cup of clam chowder and it was good soup. Bad: Food itself. Two steaks were overdone, and not sent back due to wish to avoid waste of food. One salad too near cooling element in fridge, frozen. Seafood pasta dish had badly overdone scallops and rubbery shrimp: isn't this a seafood place? Good again: MY entree, the salmon berry salad, was excellent! Obviously I ordered the right thing. The salmon wasn't super awesome, though cooked properly and seasoned ok, but the salad accompaniments were the star. The cold berry compote or relish for the fish was just the right amount of sweet and tangy, it added tons of interest. The fresh berries through the salad were perfectly ripe. The toasted hazelnuts were good texture additions and fit well. The compote was so good that I didn't need the vinaigrette (I got it on the side), fortunately, as it had no body and almost no flavor. Drink: Had a gin martini, it was good. Not $9 good, but still good. However I did ask for twist rather than olive, then I didn't bother to correct it, so it is my fault the drink wasn't exactly what I ordered. Looking at some other reviews, I agree that the steak sizes were a bit small, perhaps emphasize these are the sizes pre-cooking to avoid some confusion? But certainly they did not look like 8oz steaks. Weird: when we walked in the entry seemed like a nicer place, but looking around it looked very bare and boring, with poor architecture for sound dampening. The kitchen and service areas are close to tables, didn't make sense. I wonder if it gets very hectic and loud when full of guests? Conclusion: As sister said, for the prices we expect a whole lot better. My good dish cannot save the rest of the food failings: This is a surf 'n turf place, these items should be perfect. read more

Pretty shocked this place has an overall rating of 3 stars. "Welcome to our gloriously outdated and poorly decorated front of a fish house! And we're just going to make you wait 15 minutes to be seated while the restaurant is dead and we're not even sure why or what we're waiting for. But we're not going to tell you that, either!" I mean if Gordon Ramsay had sat down to eat that garbage I don't even want to know what kind of bad language would have been used. It had the consistency of gravy and the potatoes felt like those little cubed hash browns you buy in the frozen section of Walmart. And they were still frozen and completely under cooked. And I wanna make an ocean metaphor because that's how salty it was. Yuck. Grandma got a shrimp cocktail with some toast and... strawberries. Bf's dad got I don't even remember but it had strawberries, too. Dad's wife got a shrimp salad with strawberries. Boyfriend got two fish tacos with an unclear ingredientsrandomlypulledfromabox salsa that didn't even mention it was included with mango. Service was so terrible. SO BAD. It took a million years to get our drink orders and the waitresses seemed daydreamy or irritated, I couldn't tell. I get why their employee turnover rate is high.
