I wish I could give zero stars. the whole staff has no customer service skills. I walked in and wasn't greeted so I went to the counter and order a slice I payed and the gal said I could wait by the front door I said no I wanted to eat there and she said no you can't eat here. because I ordered at the counter and not a table from the waitress what ? I ordered pizza and I want to sit here and eat it. nope she said I couldn't eat there and points to a sign on the register. I said you didn't ask if it was for here or to go and no one greeted me to offer a table so I ordered my slice and I want to sit here inside. nope. so I asked for a manager and she confirmed nope you can't eat it here that's effed up I say so she offers to give my money back. umm I don't want my money back I just want to eat my piece of pizza here it is raining outside and I'm hungry so they ask the pizza maker and he agrees I can't eat there. and shows me the sign. so I told them it's effed up and said they had no customer service skills and they should have offered me a seat so they refunded my money and I called them all dicks. read more

This restaurant does not believe in keeping the AC on. Very hot and you get even hotter while eating your meal, not comfortable at all. Their garlic knots need to be taken off the menu or renamed to garlic leftover bread pieces. They essentially nuke some old bread rolls and put olive oil and garlic on top. They're just old and chewie. I had asked the waitress to please warm ours up as they were cold, she exclaimed "COLD???" and I had to ask again. She was in a tiff about it. Pizza is okayish but not worth more than a 12 minute drive. I'd never come back again. read more

Ordered two slices of pizza as we were in a hurry and hungry. After over 20 minutes still no slices (they are pre-made and only needed to be heated). Finally went to front after waitress completely ignored us the entire time. Found out they had not even started order after watching the cook make pizza after pizza. No apology or anything. on 12/2 8:10pm 5adults & an 8yr old went for dinner, we waited 10 min for a table as they were busy. once seated we ordered. 2 orders of garlic knots (so yummy) 2 Stromboli, a specialty pizza and ONE SLICE OF PEPPERORINI (the 8yr old). drinks came, knots came, all food except slice of pizza, I asked for silverware, waitress came to check on us so I asked about the slice for the child and bro in law asked again for silverware. waitress came back with PLASTIC WARE (so flimsy couldn't cut pizza) asked again about slice of pizza, finally was put in oven! now that we were almost FINISHED with our food. waitr came and asked about drink refills 3 people at OUR table was drinking TEA, other tables still had customers eating but not sure what they were drinking. Another waitress came and said sorry but we dumped the tea out because we're clossing, my bro in law said but you still have customers so to us you're not closed. WAITRESS said WERE ARE CLOSED AND YOU CAN LEAVE, mind you we are STILL eating and 8yr old just got her food. Salad was fresh, but served with bottled salad dressing. The baked dishes aren't baked and were served lukewarm, as was the side of tasteless Italian sausage. My mom and I ordered a large salad to split while we were deciding on what to have. We decided two eggplant dishes and each came with a salad. We asked for the salad we split to "BE" the salad that came with each of our meals. Manager seriously disputed it and refused to make the change. We were told we had to either take home an additional salad or not, that it was our choice, but we would be charged for it. Then she said it was "only $2?" ... Food is amazing but we're now extremely disappointed with this place. Wish a manager would have been around. We spent 10 minutes sitting in a booth with servers standing around casually looking over and talking amongst themselves while leaning on the counters, yet no service. I noticed other customers were having to holler and wave their hands to get any attention as well as extra silverware or drinks. Needless to say the worst experience I've ever had here. Went to grab a quick slice to go for a late lunch. I don't eat in the restaurant because the service is always rude and horrible. This time when I walked in the older woman (not sure if she's the manager) actually said hello while she was cleaning tables. We exchanged a few pleasantries and I went to order at the register. The young lady there ( girl with glasses) asks what can she get for me. I said "hello, how are you" and she repeated "what can I get for you". I again said hello and then she took a deep breath and greeted me as well. I mentioned that the polite thing is to greet the customer first and she said that she didn't greet me because the other woman already greeted me.... Unbelievable! I then told her that that doesn't mean she shouldn't greet the customer and she proceeded to go back and forth with me. Then she headed to the back area to complain about me to the woman who I assume was the manger, and that woman peeped out at me. I left there disappointed once again with the lack of customer service. I assume that they are all related because looking at the reviews this has been going on since they opened. A friend had been pushing me to try this place and now that I have I won't have to go back. In fact bad enough to go to the trouble to share my experience. As you can see this is the first time I felt I needed to leave feedback for any place. I ordered the chicken/veal/eggplant parmigiana platter which was ok, but nothing special. The sauce was very acidic and way too much sugar in the eggplant and even skimpy on the spaghetti. Maybe the problem with the food is that I am Italian and know what good sauce and eggplant tastes like? Anyway, prior to going this afternoon June 10, 2017, I had read the reviews but I thought customer service couldn't be as bad as I'd read but it was. Sorry but the young girl with shoulder length blond hair was that bad. I had asked to wait on the check as I'd planned on ordering a couple items to go plus my dinner and maybe that's what annoyed her? That triggered her first rude response. Wish I'd timed it, but I'd only just started eating.. Can't remember the last time I didn't tip at least 25 or 30%. Having years of experience in customer service I had seriously thought about giving her a lesson about how you talk to a customer but not sure it would have done anything from what I'd read on here. I had a problem several months ago with a to-go-order. I spoke to the manager on the phone and the best she was willing to do, was to give me 25% off my next order, or to drive back to the restaurant 30 minutes away and have them remake my order - since I was not willing to drive back and have dinner two hours later than originally planned, I decided to salvage what I could, and take it up with them at another time. Since getting that to go order, I have been at the restaurant several times including this evening. Tonight I decided to remind the manager of our conversation and take her up on her offer for the 25% off, of which I still didn't agree was enough for the mess up on my to-go-order. When she came over to the table, she remembered our conversation from several months ago and immediately said " yes I remember you, you're the guy that hung up on me after saying "25% is not enough". Click. I thought to myself, 'yes that's true, but what a way to start off the conversation. Very unprofessional manager to say the least. Unpleasant appearance no smile and never followed up with me during my meal. I ordered the sausage and pepper sandwich which was served to me lacking the main ingredient- the sausage by probably 25% or more - mostly bread, very little sausage - the bread was excellent. I finished my drink and wanted another, but the waitress never came back to my table. (to her defense she was busy, but she still needed to do her job) After this experience, I can honestly say this will be the last time I ever spend a dime at this restaurant. I ordered a cheese steak yesterday and it was the worst one I've ever had. It was all bread, which was very hard on all the edges. I picked off all the excess crusty bread and there was hardly any meat. The quantity was below anyones standards to me. They used to give ample amounts of food there. I am very disappointed and will never go back. We waited almost 30 minutes for this sandwich. The service was good though. Its very warm in there also. read more

Updated review.. To be honest, in comparison to many other local joints, Anthony's is a little better, but the sauce is super acidic. My wife and I both get heartburn after a slice. The customer service makes it even less of a good experience. The prices are ok, I guess, but after finding a far better pizza in the next plaza over I can say without a doubt that we won't be back to Anthony's. It's not worth it. read more

Place started strong. But within the last few month quality and service has gone down. Ordered the chicken parm. Got a processed chicken patty served over over cooked linguine. Decided to give it another try today. Arrived told it would be a 10 minute wait. So gave name and sat in the waiting area. 20 minutes later I'm still waiting and there are actually 5 tables that just need to be cleared off. After 35 minutes I ask the cashier if we were going to get seated. She responded " If someone clears off one of tables". I asked if she had any idea when someone would be clearing off the table. She stated. Let me see. Sat back down waited another 10 minutes. Finally got seated. Order a pizza .. let me tell you worst pizza I've ever had. No flavor, dough was pulled unevenly making for lopsided pizza, sauce was scares. Will not being going back. Don't know what happened to the big guy that ran the place. I was very disappointed to say the least I called in my order as I knew that it would take 30 minutes or so to prepare. I was told that the order will be ready in 30 minutes. My family and I got there 30 minutes later sat down in one of the tables that was empty. Our server came and asked us to be wanted drinks and we told her that we had ordered a pizza by phone. We were told that we could not eat the pizza there because we placed the order by phone and had to eat it elsewhere. We got up and paid for the pizza. They gave us the pizza and we walked out. We went to the car ate the pizza in the car. We were very surprised that we were not allowed to eat the pizza that we purchased. There were over 10 tables available to dine in. Their food is great but they might have the most rude staff ever. I own a local company in Deland and we get take out all the time, and we usually order over the phone and do separate checks. i came in to pick up our order and said if they could combine 2 of the checks (thought it would make it easier doing three check instead of 4) and they rolled their eyes and said the manager would have to do it. I told them nevermind, thought it'd make it easier, and the short older lady goes, "I hate when customers tell us to do separate checks and then at the last minute tell us to combine them." Like lady, I'm standing right here and didn't know you didn't have the capabilities to combine checks easily. This is by far the best pizza in the area, probably the closest to real NY pizza in Florida. I'm in DeLand once or twice a week and I always stop in for a slice. It's also one of the few places that serves pizza by the slice. They have a great variety, their staff is professional and friendly. It's typically packed at lunch time, but I intend to come for dinner one night to sample other things on their menu. I love the interior, it's a great place. read more

I ordered 2 meals and 2 pizza slices for take out last night. I didn't realize they forgot the pizza so I called them and they wanted me to come back or refund. I paid cash so I said i would come back later and they said it would be under my phone number. I called today to tell them I was picking it up and the owner told me sorry and it would be on the house. I walked into the restaurant and explained this and I was rudely told that I had called the wrong restaurant, they are not affiliated with that other restaurant and they do not keep anything under a phone number. They did find it in the book so they believed me. The guy that warmed up the pizza did apologize. I have never been to a restaurant with such BAD customer service. The other food last night was good but the pizza was just okay. I will not be going back to this restaurant but I may try the other one since the owner had a much better attitude.
