So, I ordered a pizza for pickup and they told me it would be 30 minutes. I got there at twenty minutes, thinking I would have to wait. They had the pizza by the register... not under a warmer. The pizza was not hot when I left and was cold by the time I got home, seven minutes later. The pizza is still good after I heated it myself. If I had waited the whole 30 minutes, it would've been completely cold when I left. They still have really good pizza though. read more

I've been there several times since they opened a while ago but the last time will likely be my last. As much as I enjoy their pizza, I did not care for the way my son and I were treated on 12/01. Since my son wanted to meet for pizza on his way to work, I talked him into getting a whole small pizza ATW so that I could call it in which I did. I told the lady that took my order that it was for dine-in and that we would be there in 15 minutes. My son arrived at the store shortly before I did and when I walked in he asked me if I had told them that it was for dine-in. I said of course but he was told that they did not take call ahead dine-in orders, that it is against store policy according to them. That would be OK if I had been told that when I called which I wasn't, or serve me the pizza that I ordered and then inform me that in the future they would not accept call ahead dine-in orders. But instead the waitress was rude to my son and they apparently canceled my order without calling me and informing me of what was going on. We have eaten at Anthony's many times since they opened....the success of Anthony's has certainly changed their attitude... the staff is rude and very self important .. we started to order out....time and time again the order was wrong or parts missing. The last time completely wrong... i called and they were apologetic and put our name in the "BOOK" and told they would replace the order next time .... next time was today 2/1/20 3 weeks later and they refused to honor the promise... I must have said Thank you 5 times between placing the order and picking it up. Not even an acknowledgement. Not a single thank you from her, not a smile , not a come back , not a your welcome. I came to this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend when I entered the establishment there were 2 other parties eating and rest the restaurant was empty. I walked to the counter and the Host asked me if it was here or to go and I said here. I sat down at one of the booths that were open and waited for my food. The hostess told to me that my to go order was ready when I told her it was for dining in. She said she asked me if I was gonna eat in or take out and I said take out which I did not. They proceeded to tell me that I would have to leave the restaurant because take out orders are not allowed to be eaten inside of the restaurant. I proceed to ask if they can make an exception since the restaurant was empty and they told me that I could sit on the very front bench near the front door which did not have a table to place my food on I asked the server if I could have a plate, meaning make it a dine in situation which I believe they should have offered me in the 1st place and they proceeded to tell me that they have a policy that you cannot eat takeout orders in the restaurant. She then went to get me a plate but said she couldn't find ond.I found them to not to be accommodating to my needs. I grab my food and left to eat in my car. I could understand if the restaurant was at full capacity but they did not even offer to change my take out order to in dining so that I could be accommodated to eat in the restaurant. Horrible service and bad food. The servers were more involved with their conversation with each other then they were on waiting on a handful of tables. The restaurant was completely empty but there were 10 servers in our food was brought out to us cold. We took a chance on this place on a Wednesday night thinking we would have good luck but we will never come back here again. Every time I'm in Deland from Orlando would stop here and get pizza BUT not anymore! Was in last week, pizza guy was sitting at table eating food with his fingers (in his mouth) before making my pie. I asked waitress if he wear plastic gloves making pizza, she said 'no'. I asked to please ask him to wash his hands before making my pizza. She pointed to the sink in my view behind the counter and said he would. I watched her tell him and appeared he didn't like being told to do that. He walked past the sink and went in the back. Came back up front, grabbed a few paper towels to dry his hands. One problem, I could see his hands weren't wet. A little later, he takes money from the register (money is filthy), hands it to an employee and again, starts making another pizza without washing his hands. The sink behind the counter had a box sitting in it, so obviously it's not something that is used very often. When I see people that prepare food not make it a habit to wash their hands, makes me wonder if they do when they leave the restroom. Yuk!! Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

The pizza is good, but knowing the employees personally they all say the working conditions are terrible. To start, they have their employees working so long, sometimes they don't get home until 1 in the morning. Fun fact about most of their employees, they are JUNIORS AND SENIORS IN HIGH SCHOOL. If they don't get home until 1:30 in the morning, that gives them maybe 3.5 to 4 hours of sleep (school starts at 7:20) The employees don't receive breaks. Teenagers are supposed to get a break every 4 hours. Sometimes, the teens work from open to close, which is a 12+ hour shift. Not one break is allowed. I can go on and on but just know that "really good pizza" has probably had stuff inside of it that has been on the ground and dishes cleaned by tired, under paid, over worked teens. read more

Anthony's burnt my pizza so that the whole bottom of the pizza was black and the cheese was dried out. When the restaurant was called that same night to notify them of the problem; the girl who originally answered the phone got back on to say "yeah there's nothing we can do." Tried to call to speak to a manager on several occasions and never received a phone call back. Obviously they don't believe in customer service. Will never buy a pizza from this place again. I spent $35- dollars for a burnt and cold pizza and appetizers. They should be ashamed of themselves. Try Angelina's its local and so much better!!! read more

How do I leave negative stars, because that's what they deserve. I have been there three times prior with way less than good food or service. I decided to drop on for a beer while I waited for Chinese food next door. After 15 minutes I finally got a beer and the girl comes over to tell me that its policy that I have to sit at the benches by the door to drink k my 5.25 draft. Really? Owner needs to train his employees, or himself for that matter. I will never go back. Angelina's pizza across the road treats everyone like family, calls me by my first name and has WAY better food. I would suggest everyone give them a try and let Anthony's go out of business. We could really use a dry cleaner's at that location anyway. NO WAY!! It was hot in the place, like the air was broken. I ordered the Chicken Parm and a small Pizza for the kids. The chicken parm arrived before the pizza. It was not good. It reminded me of a frozen dinner :( Next the waitress arrived with a single slice of pizza. I said "what is that?" She smiled and said "your pizza sir". I looked at her and asked how I was going to feed two kids one slice of pizza? Not sure of her age, but even a high school kid wouldn't be that dumb! The best manicotti and eggplant Parmesan we've had in a long time. I really like the dark rich sauce and plenty of it. Garden salad is large, all romaine, fresh and crispy. Blue cheese dressing was very good. Bread is plentiful and looks homemade. Many of my friends highly recommended. Will return soon! read more

This place recently opened so I came here with my wife to check it out. We tried the Sicilian pizza, tomato spinach pizza, regular cheese pizza, garlic knots, and zeppoles. Everything tastes amazing. I am from NY and travel there often and I have to say that this establishment has come the closest to authentic NY pizza. Great friendly service. We recently visited this restaurant even though a past visit wasn't satisfactory but thought we'd give it another try. We were a party of two, both ordering a dinner. The salad was tasty however it came with an extra container of dressing (not needed) and the container was on top of the romaine. Once the entrée arrived, we had to spoon several tablespoons of water from the plate which diluted the sauce and was caused because the pasta was not properly drained. The meat portion was OK but the pasta was not as warm as the meat. Some of the servers were yelling across the restaurant and some pushing their way through patrons trying to walk to their table, the restroom or the counter. Speaking of the restrooms, the back portion of the restaurant is filthy. I cannot believe the Health Department allows it to operate! When this restaurant first opened it was excellent -- I don't know what has happened but I won't be returning to see. read more

The service is terrible. The food is okay. Way overpriced for that kind of service though. I received something different than what I ordered. The girl just dumped off my food without saying "how's everything look" and quickly went back to the cash register area where a group of young girl servers were hanging out, drinking soda, and chatting. I had to stop a waiter going by to get my dish corrected to what I actually ordered. No one was really sorry it happened. Anthonys pizza is my favorite place for a slice in central florida. The slices are huge, and you do pay a bit more for that. But it is worth it! I've also had the chicken parm sub, the eggplant sub, the sausage and meat ball sub. All excellent! Try the meatball ricotta pizza, it's the best! read more

The pizza was subpar. Worst of all is when we first got our pizza there was a piece of hair in it. Your literally had to pull the hair out of the pizza. Have lived in Deland for 10+ years now and am so happy that Anthony's Pizza opened a location here! It's my only go to place for pizza in Deland. Yes when they first opened they had some kinks to work out with the staff seating folks and maintaining a smile on their faces. I think it was because Anthony's was busier from day 1 than they had expected. Now that they've been opened for awhile they seem to have worked out the kinks. I always get pizza on a take out basis so I can't review the dine in service. I prefer to take my pizza home. But I can say that, for Florida, the pizza is excellent and the pricing is very fair. The food quality and the pricing is so much better than that "place downtown close to Stetson", my order is always right and I can find a place to park without walking a half mile (a big deal if you have a medical disability as I do). Drive passed this place every day on my way home from work. Often pick up a Caesar salad. Food is pretty good,fair prices and very convenient. I like when I call they say Hi Bonnie. And again when I walk in the door. I didn't give it 5 stars because they messed up my order a couple of times. Today I ordered Chicken Picatta but got Chicken Francai'-supposed to include bread-missing, supposed to be on Fettuccine but was spaghetti. Caesar was good as usual and spaghetti was good, two very large breasts but supposed to be scalloped. I'll keep going there, just check my order before I leave! read more

Only been there once so far got a slice of cheese pizza and a 20oz coke for 4 bucks and change. The slice is large and thin as you would expect a New York slice to be. If this is or is not a true New York slice I can't say cause I've never been to New York. It is a very tasty slice of pizza though I quite enjoyed it a lot. The cheese has tons of flavor as does the sauce their crust is really nice and crisp. It only took about 10 minutes for me to get in and out so the service was good. Food was ok, but the service was horrible. Our waitress was rude from the second we walked in. No one greeted us and we waited for almost 10 minutes for a table to be cleaned off, which is not an easy task with a 3 year old. I ordered a side Caesar salad and two slices of cheese pizza. The waitress brought me a Greek salad and before I could even tell her that it wasn't what I ordered she was gone. Our pizza came and the bottom was a little burnt. This evening my fiancé and I had a very pleasurable experience at Anthony's pizza in Deland! Our server (Nick) was very efficient and attentive while making sure we enjoyed ourselves all with a smile on his face! The first thing I noticed when I walked into the restaurant was how clean everything was. As we dined in, we observed how well the staff worked together in an organized fashion! I was very impressed with the friendliness and maturity of the young girl at the counter, Bailey. She was always keeping herself busy and willing to lend a helping hand. The food was delicious and we always had our glasses full with our beverage of choice! I will definitely recommend this establishment to many friends and acquaintances!
