Pretty good joint. Not a fan of the flavor of the beans but that isn't the reason for four stars. I was a little concerned with watching one of the cooks coughing into her hand and then continuing to make tacos by hand with no gloves. I figured, ehh, worst things prolly happen behind closed doors in other places. I asked for a certain taco to be made a specific way. They failed to do it. This is the first time I've been here. Maybe they're having an off day. I've read the reviews and they were pretty good. The tortillas are to thick. Eggs dry and bacon limp. Their carne gusada was also dry and had a sweet taste to it. The cashier was friendly. Since it's near my work I'll give them a second try with something different. read more

As a long time fan and enthusiast of hole in the wall taco joints, I was happy when my boyfriend introduced me to Anthony's. Being a native San Antonian, I know that the best taco places probably won't be the prettiest..but that makes them all the better. Anthony's is small and intimate. I've only dined in once before when we had menudo and tacos on a Saturday morning. I'd say Anthony's is ideal for walking in and picking up. I've been to Anthony's twice before and every time the service has been exceptional and quick. Also, you can't beat the price at Anthony's. 5 tacos and 2 drinks for twelve bucks? Sign me up! I've been coming here for a couple years now and their food never disappoints! However, the past couple of times I've called in an order to-go, a very rude woman has answered. She answers the phone like she doesn't want to be there, talks over you, will try to correct you, and then angrily says "I'll just see you when you get here" and hangs up- no approx time/price, which the man who answers always does. This place has great reviews on UrbanSpoon, I'm quite surprised no one has reviewed it yet on Yelp! I live EXTREMELY close to this establishment, within walking distance. I've always passed it and never ever thought about going there because it looks bad from the outside. However, we got some breakfast tacos to go from here and they were delicious, extremely flavorful. Lots of egg and bacon on mine. My bf had loads of chorizo and egg on his. The salsa was delicious, hot and PERFECT on our tacos! The only thing I'd have to complain about was the service, they weren't friendly at all. Didn't really say one word to us, no thank you or hello when we walked in. But we took it to go anyways so I can't really complain. This is more of a take away place, there's a few small tables inside, but usually only to sit and wait for your food to be made and leave. Although the food is great I'd like to make it known about the only issue I've had. I called to place an order and was put on hold. I could hear the woman finishing up with a customer then speaking to whomever was with her. She forgot I was on the phone and I held for 6 min. I tried calling back but of course the phone was off the hook. I tried again 30 min later just to be told they were closing. Great spot for a quick breakfast burrito to go. The horchata is awesome, when the machine is working. Only thing they need to focus on is their salsa. It's just a little inconsistent. The food took less than 7 minutes. The Bad : No salt or pepper in the bag, and they use the thongs of napkins. The jalapeños in my machacado taco were roughly chopped. You can get beans on anything. My boyfriend loves the chorizo. I get bacon and egg with beans. It's super cheap. One person can eat a meal here for under $6. I discovered this place by walking past a coworkers desk and noting how good her sizable beef fajita quesadillas looked and I had to ask where they were from. I passed the word and we arranged an expedition to this little hole in the wall next to a convenience store. The place is tiny but you can tell from the first smell that it's something special. For around $6 you get the lunch special entrée, rice, beans, some of the best tortillas in the city and a cold drink. Seriously this place brought a tear to my eye because it reminded me of the simple, spice laden meals my dad used to throw together when we were kids. Refried beans were hardy and thick. Rice is heavy on the comino, garlic and onion just like Dad used to make and those tortillas. WOW! They were so hot I nearly burned my fingers getting them out of the foil and they were thick and fluffy just like good tortillas should be. I actually went up to the window and asked where the tortillas were made and if the tortillera was single. They're that good. I hear their breakfast tacos are something to behold as well, so that's my next visit. First time here and it was a pretty good place. We were in the area and went to Yelp for a quick place to eat. This had good ratings so we went with it. Glad we did. I had the chilaquiles and only thing with that was me expecting them to have the sauce. They are made like migas and I'm used to chilaquiles with red chile sauce. I'm really not sure if it's just different places in Mexico that are made different or if one is authentic and the other not. I just grew up with red chile sauce on my chilaquiles. It was still delicious though. Flour tortillas were delicious. I would definitely consider these home made. Place is small, hole in the wall. It does have a few tables but they are two tops. This place is mostly for to go and they do deliver. I don't live close but definitely stopping by next time we are in the area. I'm looking forward to their tacos. read more
