I love the clothes at Anthropologie, and I have often shopped at the store and online. The selection at this store is great, and everything is displayed beautifully. The brands Maeve and Pilcro are quality special wardrobe pieces and worth every penny. However, an odd occurrence happened the other day in the store where an employee stood literally inches away from me, and seemed annoyed I was looking at merchandise right in front of where she wanted to hang something up. She didn't even say "excuse me" or make eye contact or ask me if I needed help or anything at all. I felt like a potential shoplifter suspect. Or maybe I was just in her space although I was the only person shopping in the store? The two women in the dressing room were nice enough. read more

I had an experience at this Anthropologie and was about to forget about all of it until I did a quick return at the mall store. I didn't want to go back to the LG store because of the woman who was "overseeing" the dressing room there She wasn't in there much (I walked in and out getting sizes ) but when she was, she seemed very frosty towards me and when I left she was on her phone and told me to just "throw them (unwanted clothes) over there," gesturing dismissively This probably wouldn't have been so bad if we had not walked past each other several times with no acknowledgment but oddly she was looking straight at me, locking eyes. Once at the register because I was paying a shit ton of money for my clothing, not that that should matter, I decided to say something at the counter when checking out and it was apparently a shocking surprise to the other employee/manager. The reply was "but I helped you right?" Um yes but it was still an unpleasant experience because of the other employee. Anyway, long story long, I had to return one item and the professional and welcoming treatment from three of the employee in the mall store while I walked around, made me remember that that is not how it should be Not returning to this store though it's so much more convenient. read more

Anthropologie states that they guarantee the price of a purchase for 14 days. If the item goes down in price, in that time, you will get a price adjustment...they say. Since the company marks items down weekly, this appears to be a customer friendly policy. But in reality, you are protected only if the purchase is at full price. I bought an item online, using the promotion "spend X dollars, save X dollars. The item was not on sale, per se. The list price was full price. Days after that, Anthro ran a blowout sale where items were reduced by the half sale price. My item at that time was on sale, AND half off of that price! I phoned customer service to get a price adjustment. I encountered an outgoing message saying that price adjustments for items on sale would not be made if the price had been further reduced. Anthro recorded that, I assume, because so many people phoned in, livid that they had been overcharged for purchases. Anthro is acting in bad faith, on this matter. It's dishonest. It's cheating. Location: LG Anthropologie Reason: Merch return with QR code Response: No dice, items are ineligible for return Anthro staff present: Manager & clerk Sophie Hmmm why are they not eligible? Sophie advised me they are "final sale" and therefore nonreturnable :( Now, now, I know I know you're thinking oh, its the dreaded "final sale", but here's the thing.......not only did I have a QR code to facilitate the return, sent to me via Anthropologie online - these items were not: additional percent off past the return window they were simply on sale, to what degree I don't know, but I do know, the words FINAL SALE - DID NOT EXIST on the receipt, the order, the online receipt, the online order review, my online account, the invoice, the return, I could go on. Much to Sophies chagrin I'm.not.buying.it so we proceed to have a recap of sorts regarding:: sale/final sale/not on sale/what is returnable/what is not returnable why doest my invoice, online order, return slip, online account, say anywhere I mean ANYWHERE that these items are final sale? Sophie isn't sure of anything other than I'm the stupidest, dumbest, most idiotic client to ever grace the store here is the big one - How is it the computer gods ALLOW me to produce a QR for items that are ineligible for return? How?? Sophie solicits manager input from which we garner further information: Manager & Sophie do not know, Manager & Sophie truly clearly do not care Manager & Sophie wish I'd leave Manager & Sophie are crystal clear they are not returnable. Manager & Sophie are possibly in character, practicing for the re-release of Heathers....casting soon. Manager & Sophie may be in contest of who can be the surliest most offensive to client base, insinuating certain clients are complete idiots Fast forward - I leave (hoping to never return) once back at the office, jump on my Anthro account, reproduce the return slip as a MAIL IN RETURN, jump back in the car, drive over to the usps, hand my box to a happy clerk at USPS and go back to my life. I'm a frequent Antho customer, and it's the 2nd time I've had an issue with a in store purchase return at this store. Every time I purchase from this store, the items aren't linked to my anthro acct. Beware that if you don't keep your receipt, they won't return the items or give you a store credit (even when the item still had a tag and still is being sold in the store)..horrible customer service. The staff is unfriendly and poorly trained. I prefer the Valley Fair store. read more

This store is beyond unfriendly store I've ever been too. I love Anthropologie i usually don't go to this location but we had appointment so figured we would stop in. Changing area the lady was rude and seemed annoyed that we were even there . Maybe this person having a bad day. Saw something else was looking at no excuse me moved me basically out of the way to put a shirt back, then continued to organize the rack as if I wasn't there . Put the shirt back because no , I did weirdly buy one cheap thing because it works for something I needed everything else I will purchase online . My boyfriend brought me here so that I could pick out an outfit...he knows this is my favorite store. He said please let me help pick out the outfit. Try it on and come out so I can make sure I like it as well. I proceeded to try on the clothes and we both decided some were too big or not flattering, etc. so my bf would go and get me another size or color. The staff then walked in my dressing room and LOUDLY counted my items; like I was about to rob the place!!! MY BF AND I SAID THIS PLACE SUCKS. Something very off about it. I came here for online return. Something was very off about the service. The lady (tall, glasses) was standoff-fish. I had some items that I'd gotten on sale and were non returnable. I didn't make any fuss about it but the way she spoke to me I felt less than her. I also bought some stuff worth more than $100 and I generally spend a lot on this store so not really sure what was up. There was an air of "I'm better/higher than you" in her demeanor. She barely smiled. I'm not sure if this was subtle racism/micro-aggression. I try not to make it about race but whatever it was, it was not a good feeling. One of my favorite stores to check out the latest and newest fashions, whether it's tops, dresses, candles, kitchen, or serving decor. Most are good quality. I've had the trim on their vegan purses crack, even their leather wear out in less than a season, and a sweater made of lint shed on everything and everyone I came into contact with. I love their candles. I found my favorite glassware here. I found some of my favorite bowls, servers, and utensils here. Inventory changes from season to season. It's pricey but they do have sales. I can always find something different here too. read more

Clean and spacious and smelling of orange, this is probably the smallest Anthropologie. It's a compActhropologie. It's an Anthropolo-wee.

Not as glam decor as other Anthro-temples but surely better deals. I got a couple of whimsical kitchen clothes that I like to use in the many picnics I attend. They were just $3 each! Umthinkable of Anthropologie (or at least I haven't seen this kind of deals). My friend also got a perfume on sale. And our time there trying out stuff was surely priceless too. Easy parking in that Old Town plaza, no limited to just 2 hours, so an added plus. read more

I have shopped at this Anthropologie since they opened. I had an experience today that made me decide I won't shop here again. They wouldn't accept a gift that I received without a receipt (although I had been told on my previous visit to the store they would be able to give me a credit). I was disappointed they would not honor what I was told, as In previous years this would not have been a problem. However, what made me want to stop shopping here was that they were disbelieving and shaming - " you shop here a lot" " you really cannot find the receipt?" A simple apology for the fact they could not accommodate a credit or exchange for a gift without a receipt would have been appreciated. I will spend my money elsewhere. read more

This rating is for the Los Gatos store only. Customer service is limited! First, fitting room attendant tells me if I need another size to let her know, but then she disappeared and no one else was there. No big deal I went and looked for a different size, it was really the principal of it. I purchased two shirts and was given an ad for 20% off an entire purchase. The discount was valid starting the next day. The employee handling my purchase told me I could bring the shirts back and get the adjustment the next day if I wanted to use the discount. I thought this was good customer service. So I went back to the store the next morning. I really like Anthropologie, but the Los Gatos store manager has got to go. She is the worst manager I have ever dealt with. I went to the counter and asked for the adjustment as directed the night before. I was basically sneered at by the manager and told they do not adjust prior purchases. I let the manager know what I was told the night before and got the dreaded "tsk" sound. Her reply was that they didn't do that. I let her know if that is the policy, then she needs to make her employees aware of it and that I'd heard a few other patrons be told the same thing the night prior. As many Anthropologie patrons know, if you make a full price purchase they will make the adjustment when there is a discount. I believe this manager is only concerned about her bottom line rather than building her brand and customer loyalty. Moral of the story: I returned the items. I will not make another purchase at this store until the current manager is replaced. With online shopping so prevalent and easy you would think she would do all she could to encourage people to shop in store. I will shop online or at the Santana Row location. Oh, by the way, I went home, logged into my Anthro account and purchased the same items online plus another item using the 20% discount code. No problem getting the discount on a previously purchased item online after being told otherwise by the store manager. read more

I agree with the other poor reviews of the store. The staff is cold. They seem like they didn't trust me when I went into the fitting room, and they did not help me when I asked for help. I like the items in the store, so I ultimately found some things that I wanted to purchase, but when I went to go buy them, the person who rang me up, didn't even thank me. They have a lot of cute items but I will never shop here again. I will go to the Palo Alto Store or shop online. I want to add to the customer service complaints here. I LOVE LOVE LOVE anthro style and have been shopping their clothes since the early 00s. The staff attitude is awful. I don't get a "welcome" or "thank you" and when I purchase items, they act like I'm doing them a favor. I made a return recently and I think the clerk said maybe one or two words to me the entire time even after I tried to engage her with kindness. Is it just that I'm not lily white or because I'm a size 10 and over the age of 30? Honestly, this is what it feels like. Los Gatos thinks they fancy but I know that everyone here shops in the clearance section with me because the rest of the store was devoid of human life. I'm not normally a person who buys things at stores. One, because I'm not huge on leaving my apartment. Two, because I have like $3 total. BUT I was in the area and trying to finish my coffee so I could go in for a meeting I was early for so I decided to pretend I was fancy since I was actually wearing some very nice and business appropriate attire, which never happens. The main part of the store is a little more barren than your usual Anthropologie but the clearance section, as mentioned, was hoppin. In fact, the clearance goodies legit runneth over into several racks outside of the time-out clearance room. I've never seen anything worthwhile in an Anthro clearance rack or really much of a clearance pricing system but this location had the goods. + A $625 green leather jacket marked down to $189 (it didn't look that great on me but I appreciated the gross discount nonetheless) + A couple super cute loose dresses that I decided didn't tell the world I was single enough but would have been great for a person in a comfortable coupling. + These camo cargo shorts that 2 people have already given me shit about re: am I attending Warped Tour 2002, but I don't care because I'm going to wear them to Cabo and pair them with my cool new... + Linen shirt with tigers and monkeys on it. Super light and airy and doesn't technically go with the camo cargo shorts but imma make it work and show everyone where to shove it. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Moreso, than any other location I've been to and I walked out with a full outfit for under $80 bc they had apparently had an additional 25% of sale shit that day. Huzzah! read more

Not my place to shop. It's very expensive so I assume that the employees should come up to me and ask how I am doing (at least once). I got nothing though. This time I only ended up getting a hand lotion that smelt amazing. I never, I mean never wear perfume or scents and I fell in love with this lychee rose hand cream. Overpriced but with the 30% discount I didn't feel so bad for buying it. The lady at the register wasn't friendly either which was expected. All and all never do I get good service here and multiple locations and I find it crazy how expensive the clothes are for outfits I would never wear. Sometimes I find things I love and most of the time I don't. But people I go with always want to stop here during our shopping trips so I join. Attitude! When I checked out a blouse, the cashier lady asked me if I need a bag, I said I don't since it's just a blouse. After I paid, I asked if I could have a tissue paper, she gave me a long face while she was opening the drawer and threw a piece of tissue paper on the table and she said " we don't give tissue paper anymore "! with an attitude! But she just used several paper in the bag for the customer before me. I was so confused! I bought a $70 blouse and asked for a tissue paper to protect the light-color garment, is it too much? I had a really uncomfortable experience at this store and will avoid it going forward. I wanted to return a sweater but the store I bought it from didn't ask for my email address and I had lost the paper receipt. I asked the person at the counter if I could exchange the item by ordering something online for the same amount and she said yes but if it didn't fit I could not exchange that item again so it would be good to see if I could find something in the store instead. I thought that made sense so I shopped for a bit but decided I wanted to order the online item instead. I went back to the counter and explained to a lady named Lisa that the other woman had told me I could exchange the sweater for something online and she said no that is not allowed per their policy. She let the other woman know that what she had told me was incorrect. Instead of apologizing for telling me the wrong information the original woman I spoke to decided to gaslight me and said she had never told me I could exchange for an online item. I could not believe that this woman was lying to me to save face in front of her fellow employee. It was so awkward and I will no longer be shopping at Anthropologie. read more

In short: Condescending and terrible store manager Today I went to this Anthropologie. I had a good time there with the regular employees. Very helpful and nice. However....As I was buying a sweater it was the last size and it was all sold out. This particular one has a dirt stain and employee said she would give me an extra 10% off. I felt like it wasn't much discount and thought that maybe I have to do a lot of spot cleaning if I purchased it so I didn't. I thought about it after I walked around and came back to buy it because I loved the sweater so much. This time around the manager was there and she said she can only do another 5% off. I told her earlier another lady at the register said 10%. I was so unhappy with her attitude and condescending tone. I see another review regarding this manager and can't believe it. It's not that she's having a bad day. She's just plain horrible! In her exact words..." well I am the manager and I can only do 5% off and not 10 and I wish you bought it earlier..." I never in my life when purchasing apparel in a well known store to be treated unfairly. There's no standard of service and completely unprofessional manager. From all the reviews I've read here, this manager needs to be let go. It's unfortunate because the Stanford and Valley Fair Anthro staff are awesome and accommodating. I'm a frequent anthro shopper and over the past few years I have noticed a significant decline in customer service. I stopped in this location to do some quick shopping. I walked in and nobody greeted me. Three employees were behind the counter chatting. One was a manager because she instructing the employees on what cleaning needed to be done. She took another employee into the back and I was pretty much alone in the store. I wandered around and grabbed a few things. Nobody asked me if I needed help or a dressing room. I ended up spending $800+ and I wish I didn't. I was in a pinch because I was I town for work and needed some things. If I didn't need the outfits, then I certainly would not have spent that much money. Stores who treat their customers that way don't deserve my business. Overall - stuck up and rude. read more

I've found great items here! Good sale selection, never crowded. Love the tia cotton tees and the pilcro jeans. Their housewares stuff is cute too, but seems to never change. They still have mugs that I bought from there 2-3 years ago. The dressing rooms here are spacious and clean. Girls working there were nice too! Make sure to ask for sizes if you don't see them. Sometimes they have them in the back. Some stuff is overpriced, but so far I've been happy with my purchases here! read more

I had a gift my husband bought me for my birthday and absolutely loved it, however the size was to large (bath caddy), all 3 employees were either confused on how to return (I had the receipt) or just didn't want to do the transaction. They said they couldn't take it back b/c they don't sell home stuff. (They do!!) I said I don't have the box to mail it back. They looked for one for me & when they couldn't find one, magically they could return it. I'm thankful for the change of heart so it saved me a trip to a better accommodating Anthropologie, but very disappointed with the lack of customer service. read more

It looks and smells like an Anthro, but there was frost in the air. I was shopping for a dress and had six or seven in my arms, and at least four employees passed by without a glance. When I tried on the dresses in the fitting room, the associate kept rushing me and when I didn't want to keep any, she turned very frosty. I felt like I was burdening the staff or something. I love walking around this store as there are so many beautiful and interesting things. You might think it's pricey, but you'd be wrong. There are quite a lot of affordable items, and the clearance area in the back is awesome. I love looking at all the drawer nobs and some day, I'm going to re-do my kitchen. The clothing is well made. My teen daughter loves their clothes, and so it withstands a lot of teen thoughtfulness and abuse. read more
