A local friend has been coming here for years, and it turned out to be a solid choice for lunch. I really enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere, the sense of history, watching the pizza being made, and the fantastic signage out front, the great name. It's the kind of spot that's as much about the experience as the food. The pizza is good -- while it doesn't reach the level of my favorite pies, was still very enjoyable. I came here earlier in the week and ordered the Linguine n Clams with red sauce, plus a side of grilled chicken. Very delicious, flavorful meal with a lot of good moisture too. The noodles were doughy, tasty and drained well as pasta should be. The clams were soft, tasty and addictive, along with being hard to get in TX anyway. Both sauces go great with these, but I always preferred the red one with it more. It could even be bc of an old 80s ep of Three's Company when a food critic ate them this way. Who knows lol. The red sauce was light, a bit oily, a little garlicky and tomatoey. The garlic wasn't too strong in it, but very balanced. The grilled chicken side added extra bite to filled me up, bc I come here on a pretty empty gut when I do. The chicken pieces were soft and well-seasoned. The service was great, attentive, welcoming and friendly. There are a several awesome pastas and some awesome desserts here done with such consistency. read more

I really enjoyed my visit to Antonio's! I went with a large party, and we were seated in the back, but that didn't affect our service at all. The waiters were so attentive and my glass was never left empty for long. The restaurant was quiet, and they were even kind enough to turn off the overhead music in the room when we requested it. I ordered the chicken Alfredo dinner and a Caesar salad. The salad was amazing! The Alfredo was standard, nothing overly special but very yummy. I feel like the food was a tad overpriced for the quality, but I got to take home leftovers so I'm happy with the quantity. I'd definitely return! read more

I waited too long to finally try this place out. I have searched high and low around Houston for a really good Classic Italian restaurant. Classic Italian food made right. This is the food that I grew up on in the Northeast. The sauce is the highlight on many of their pasta dishes (as it should be). The pizza absolutely slaps. New York style with no flop! My pre-teen son loved the Fettuccine Alfredo so much, he didn't once try to sneak any tiktok dancing videos while seated. Btw..I think this is the only 5 star review that I've ever given to an Italian restaurant. I'm interested in coming back during the weekends to see what the flying pizza is all about. The only flying food I'm accustomed to is by my wife whenever I overcook fish. read more

Great pizza eating experience. It has that classic pizzeria feel. I only tasted the 10" pizza with pepperoni and sausage so I cannot comment on a variety of dishes. However the pizza was hot, tasted freshly made and the ingredients were very tasty. The exterior and interior is dated, although it doesn't feel run down. It was clean inside and out. I gave it 3 stars because it's average atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive as I was in a group of 24 people over lunch. The parking is a little tight so be patient finding a spot. Over the past month I have visited Antonio's twice for lunch. It is in a stand alone building with its own parking lot with a BIG sign out front. You can't miss it. This Italian eatery is an old time Houston institution that is famous for its frisbee like dough throwing exhibitions that are done for the benefit of diners. Since I didn't observe that either time for lunch I'm assuming they only do that at dinner time. Oh well... The lunch menu offers several options at reduced prices over the dinner menu. I believe the serving sizes are the same. My first visit was for pasta with meat sauce for $11. The meal came with bread and after a short wait delivered to the table. It was a good tasting meal with both flavor, quantity and value. On the dinner menu this same meal is $5 more. My second visit was for a pizza at lunch and I went with my usual order of beef, mushrooms and onions. For a 10" pie the lunch cost was $12.75 and at dinner it would have been $18.50. I guess the frisbee throwing show during dinner time is worth it?? Anyway that pizza was very good taste wise with plenty of toppings on the pizza. I would order it again but only at that price. The very best Sicilian, southern Italian restaurant in Houston and possibly anywhere outside of Mulberry St in Little Italy. Marinara is pure Sicily and outstanding. Service and management A+. Antonio's is the quintessential neighborhood pizza/pasta restaurant. We moved from Chicago in the early 80s to Houston and we missed places like Danny's on S. Archer Ave. A place the family could go to once a month or more and have pizza, pasta, salad, and mom and pops could have a glass of wine or beer. In the 80s Antonio's was a stand out for pizza in Houston and I think still is. I had not been in a long time since I have moved to another part of town and there are so many choices for good pizza now beyond Pizza Hut and Domminos. Very please to report that that place is still fantastic and great place to take your family. It is a bit dated but in a good way as it's character is just getting richer. It might be dated look but it is very well taken care of and super clean all over including bathrooms. So the important part the food. Pizza is excellent and obviously they make their own dough and sauce and I think use some smaller brands of pepperoni which gives the pizza a Antonio's taste which is very good. It's not Papa John's, Pizzaro's, Pizza Hut, Gypsy Poet - its Antonio's pizza. We also had cannelloni, salad, bread (with old school butter), fried mozzarella sticks, and fried zucchini so we covered some vegetables. All were very good in an old school neighborhood Italian restaurant style. They were tossing pizza in the air front of the pizza ovens which made me happy. It's all for show and its great! I need to try to get to Antonio's more often. read more

Ambiance and service are both like old Italy. Not that I've been to Italy, but I've studied it and heard plenty of stories from travelers. Right as you walk in, a man is preparing handmade pizza and flipping the dough up in the air (hence the fun sign). They start you out with bread and butter. Oil and balsamic vinegar are available on request to dip your bread. The bread is warm and flaky. Very good. We got calamari for our appetizer. It is served with warm delicious marinara sauce and fried well. It was good, but needed a hint more seasoning. We ordered the chicken fettuccine alfredo and lasagna to share. The lasagna is wonderful. Arrives at the table still bubbling. The meat and sauce are spot on and perfect! The chicken fettuccine alfredo was very good noodle and sauce wise, but the chicken itself was a little dry and had very little seasoning. The sauce helped a lot to make it tastier. $65.79 (before tip) for our meal (no alcohol). It was a very good night and I'm happy we settled on this restaurant. I hate to only give 4 stars, but my reviews are always very honest. It might have been an off night, which I understand happens. I would definitely recommend this establishment and will be back to try other dishes. The pizzas looked fantastic. Maybe we will try that next. Arrive early, especially on the weekend.
