Veal Chop

Great experience tonight at Antonio's. Food & Service were first rate! I would definitely come back. We had a 6p reservation but arrived early and they were able ti seat us. Highly recommend reservations as when we left at 7p the place was packed. As soon as we sat down, a young lady came right over with water and fresh bread and butter. My wife and I each started with salads which were delicious. I had the Cesar salad and my wife had a lovely arugula salad. I had the special Veal Chop which was huge and very good. My wife had an Eggplant Trattoria that looked like a lasagna and she loved it. Overall a wonderful experience!!

Unpopular opinion..this place just isn't good, sorry. I really don't understand the "rave reviews" First of all my waitress was awful l, I asked her if they had clase Azul tequila she said let me check, said they didn't so I ordered a patron margarita and it was honestly the worst cocktail I've ever had. Funny though when I went to the bathroom and walked by the bar I saw the bottle on the shelf that they "didn't have" She then took everyone at my tables order but mine. She started walking away and I was like um I didn't order yet? Of course everyone's food came out way before mine so then she made me wait on top of that. The food was disgusting not gonna lie. I wouldn't come back here if you paid me.

Itemized receipt for our 1 beer, 2 glasses of wine, clams Alforno (casino), the veal chop, filet mignon, ricotta pie and cappuccino.

Antonio's is a small casual first class restaurant offering a different menu selection from most restaurants. I had an outstanding looking veal chop topped with shrimp and cheese in a lobster sauce that did not disappoint. The baked veal is breaded and thin but very moist and tender. My wife order a medium well filet mignon which was cooked to perfection. It was very pink and hot in the middle. The waiter was very polite and attentive, making sure that at all times we had everything we needed. I've attached a picture of my stuffed veal chop and a receipt for our meals. We had a lot of fun in this cozy restaurant.

My brother is always eating here and raving about the food, now I can see why. We came here with our family for me and my brothers birthday, and the food was on point! I ordered the Pork Osso Buco ($28.50) and it was so juicy with a great flavor. It was a big piece of meat and I loved the fig/sweet potato sauce that was beneath it. My mom's chicken martini ($26) was a great cut of meat served in a fabulous sauce. Then my brother's free range chicken ($27) was also really good with a awesome crispy skin. (They forgot the risotto at first). The portion of Bolognese that they served was large and they didn't skimp on the meat, which some places do. ($23). Service wasn't the best I hate to say. It wasn't busy at all for 530 on a Friday, but it took 45 minutes to get our food! And our waitress had a little attitude when discussing the risotto error with my brother. Antonio's is a little on the expensive side, but the food is worth the price.

THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT I have ever visited The food was unreal! We started with the Arancini, AMAZING to say the least The red pepper added was a brilliant touch, just enough crisp and super moist inside The fresh bread was delicious and the chicken parm was thin, juicy and delicate Would've bathed in the sauce if I could of Our service was on top of everything even though the restaurant was busy with birthday parties, dates and families enjoying their Sunday dinner Counting down the days to go back WENT BACK AND IS WAS STILL AMAZING! Added dessert this time, best rum raisin Ice cream and bread pudding EVER Arancini

We had reservations at 5:30 on a Sunday night for three of us on my mother's birthday. The food came out on time and everything was great from the service to to the dessert. We started with a stuffed artichoke and Aranchini. The stuffed artichoke was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I would give it a 4/5 on my artichoke rating scale. The Aranchini was also good, especially the sauce that it was served with. The pork Osso Bucco...5/5 Excellent! The meat was tender and juicy and was a large portion. We all got to try it. The Fra Diavolo was fantastic, a little spicy with plenty of sauce. The shrimp were really good. The only problem with the dish was that there were no scallops in it when there was supposed to be. 4/5 The Filet Mignon was a 5/5. A large portion of steak with all the right fixings. The filet was cooked perfectly, as I ordered it rare. I was impressed with the Gorgonzola orzo. I wasn't able to save room for dessert, but it looked really good and there were no complaints. Overall, it is definitely a restaurant worthy of a second trip.

What seem to be, and taste like deep-fried veal Parmesan

So we came in on a Tuesday evening at 5:00 for the first time being here. Very welcoming at the host stand and did let us know that they had reservations in an hour and a half before they got busy with that so we said sure we can be done by then. Just the two of us, a couple, on a weekday evening just getting some dinner before heading back home. We ordered a dirty martini and a Chianti. Both were OK, without having a wine list we were not offered a different type of Chianti or made aware that there was different types of wine to choose from upon being seated and handed menus. Mushroom appetizer. And it was just OK. Presentation was nice lots of mushrooms and a sauce smell delicious that was on it, but the taste did not follow the smell. It was a good appetizer but just OK. Nothing to rave about. I did order the Caesar salad, which never came before our meals Then we ordered the eggplant stack and my husband ordered the veal Parmesan. The veal Parmesan. Although I don't eat meat, looks like it had been deep-fried and was mostly batter, picture attached. My husband scraped away the cold batter and cold mozzarella cheese that was halfway melted on top and ate what was left of the veal underneath all of the deep-fried batter. The eggplant stack was huge, and it was OK. Nothing to write home about and nothing that I would go back and have again. After the reviews this place had I would've expected a little bit more of quality in the entrées and attention to what was actually order to Guest Nothing was terrible, if you asked me, if you ask my husband other than that looked like and taste like deep-fried veal Parmesan that is. So my hopes are we just caught it on a bad night. As a business owner and a server in a former life, I do understand that you wanted to get us out of here before your other reservations started because we were just walkins. But that should mean we get the same quality of food that anyone else would receive. So being our first time trying this place I would like to say were a little put off by the hopes of trying it again. If it wasn't for the not getting the Caesar salad and the veal Parmesan looking like it has been deep-fried and pretty much cold, I would've given a three star on other areas. But those two things along knocked it down a notch

Traditional Italian cuisine served in an intimate setting. The pork ossobuco is tender and flavorful. The Bolognese is a winner

Ordered the veal parmigiana and the veal was the thinnest I have ever had. Was heavily breaded and not worth the amount charged.

Excellent service, the food was excellent. Just don't care for the room that had a large party in it. Sit in the lounge area high booths.

But upon tasting their food, it was clear, 'Viola' is just another Americanized Italian restaurant. We started with an a la carte order of: 'House made focaccia, roasted garlic spread, evoo, craft butter' This was fresh and tasty. We then shared the 'Caesar: traditional romaine hearts, foccaccia croutons, shaved pecorino cheese. classic caesar dressing.' This lacked any flavour, the romaine was cut into too small pieces, there was no hint of garlic or anchovy in the dressing. But the most disappointing dishes were the pasta dishes: 'Fettucini bolognese, house made, beef, pork, veal ragu, pecorino, basil, calabrian Chili.' 'Scampi viola, squid ink linguini, shrimp garlic, white wine, julienned vegetables, preserved lemon butter.' Although the pastas were freshly made, their textures were compromised; both pasta dishes were not 'al dente'. In fact the Scampi viola was drenched in a dark gravy and greasy. This is just not a very skilled preparation of pasta. A fresh pasta needs very little sauce, and should be dressed very simply so the 'textures' can be enjoyed. I ordered the: 'Zuppa di vongole: fresh little neck clams, vino biqnco, fresh herbs, crostini.' But this dish was replaced by a fried calamari dish. This was well prepared, actually the only star of the evening. This restaurant may succeed on its 'blandness' but will never attract the discerning diner who wants and appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. ~tiaotse~

I don't know what has taken me so long to get to Avvio. I'm a Cranston native and have been back…read moreliving in Cranston for over four years. For some reason, this restaurant just hasn't been on my radar. I was craving a good woodfired pizza and there aren't too many restaurants that make me a Neapolitan style pizza. While theirs is not officially Neapolitan, it's pretty damn close. I am a fan of Margherita pizza with prosciutto and heaping ton of basil. So that's what I ordered as well as some cocktails. I've now been three times in the past month, and I've gotten to try several different drinks on their menu, but I never deviate from the pizza. The pizza is a little on the small side, I would like it to be a little bit bigger, but it is absolutely delicious. It has hit the mark every single time. The sauce has excellent flavor, it's clear they use a simple recipe with San marzano tomatoes which is a staple for Neapolitan pizza . The prosciutto is good quality, as is the mozzarella. My mom had the chicken Parm and very much enjoyed it. The service here is truly excellent. I've had three different servers and each time they were incredibly attentive, consistently checking in and making sure my water was refilled. I drink a ton of water, and a lot of times at restaurants I have to try to flag someone down or even go to the bar to get a refill and that has never happened and I doubt will in my experience here. They have a decent wine list and a great cocktail list. This is one of the few restaurants that has lavender simple syrup, which is one of my favorite things ever because I am a huge fan of lavender gin cocktails. The two purple drinks pictured are a lavender gin cocktail that I always request and it was made wonderfully each time. I've also sampled the espresso martini with half Baileys and half Frangelico and it was one of the best espresso cocktails I've had. Finally, I tried the pretty in pink, which is on their current cocktail menu. The drink itself tasted fine, it has lavender in it, which is a favorite as well as gin, but the glass that it served in is more like a whiskey on the rocks glass. It would have been better in a coupe or martini glasses, which is what I would expect one given the name, for presentation purposes, but also functionality. It has Aperol foam on top, and due to the glass and the fact that there was ice in it, the foam kind of dripped down the glass and made it very sticky and unpleasant to drink. I ended up asking for a straw which helped a lot, but I would recommend to the bar to change this to a coupe glass because it would be more functional, and the ice is not needed. The drink itself had a nice taste, and I would order it again with some adjustments. The bathrooms have always been kept clean every time I've utilized them. When you walk in, there is first a bar area which has ample seating and high tops, and then the main dining room, which is minimally decorated but classy looking. The kitchen is an open concept so you can see into it while you eat. Avvio is going to be a monthly if not weekly stop for me. Highly recommend.
