This is a perfect spot for a quick take out order or dine in. I wanted a nice Italian meal and pizza so decided to do a take out order. They have their own take out area for a quick pick up and I was in and out in less than 5mins! I got the lasagna and it was delicious. The sauce is a bit to the sweeter side. I did an up charge for a side Caesar salad. There was a side bread that came with it and it was delicious dipping it in the meat sauce. I also got a pepperoni pizza. It was a tad salty but the crust was good. Service was quick and friendly. The parking lot was very confined but they have onsite parking. read more

About a week ago I was giving a co-worker a ride home and drove by this place. Had never even heard of it, but it looked promising driving by. Sniffed around when I got home, and saw mostly good things about them, and decided to give them a shot. And instantly regretted....not having come across them before. This place at least at first blush is absolutely banging. Fast friendly service, dispute it being crazy busy, a welcoming inside and a pizza that was top notch. Seriously, good sauce and cheese and a nice crispy crust. Tucked away in so-so section of North Providence, this place is a hidden jewel, apparently, as evidence by the full parking lot and having to park on the street. read more

We eat here pretty often. I'm surprised we haven't reviewed yet. It's a great spot. Plenty of parking. Staff are wonderful. Food is home made and delicious. They have a large bar with any kind of drink you may wish. We tend to get pizza here , but their Greek salad is perfection. As well as the pasta fagiole. I don't think I should write a review comparing one place to another - but here I am. I lived in the Elmwood section of Providence my whole life, before moving to North Providence 3 years ago. Growing up we were HUGE big cheese fans. In fact my mom and like three of my aunts worked there when they were teens. When I moved to North Providence, I had already been to Wine and Cheese so it wasn't exactly new to me. But I just love having pizza and calzones and that highly addictive salad dressing that feels like the pizza parlor of my childhood. I ordered pizza for Halloween this year - and as always, it was delicious! Thick slices of pepperoni, like real pepperoni. The edges slightly curled, the crust crisp enough to hold together when you grab a slice and it doesnt fold under the weight of sauce and cheese. I DID not get a salad this time, wasn't feeling it - but normally I get a greek salad, with extra dressing so I can dip my pizza crust. Or if I get a calzione the whole thing gets dipped in salad dressing. I DID get their wings though, for the first time. Love them. They were meaty, and delicious even when I decided to start eating them hours later when they were cold. It reminded me of Ponderosa wings slightly - but with more meat on the bones. My only criticism and it didn't come into play on this order, but has before - they sell their salad dressing, but in a glass bottle like a beer or soda would be in, and a twist cap that can't be put back on. If I'm buying dressing, I don't want to have to put it in another container to be able to seal it back up. and although I love the dressing, it is too much to finish at once. read more

We were in the area and hungry for lunch so we decided to give them a try! Sadly, this was the first and definitely the last time coming here. Service was really slow.... We ordered a Mediterranean Calamari dish off their special menu and it was tasty but COLD. Nothing worst than cold fried food. Looking for a tasty new place for a lunch while running errands we tried Wine and Cheese. We ordered off the specials and got a Mediterranean calamari and Napoli pizza. There was nobody ahead of us, so we thought that the food would be hot and fresh... Sadly, the calamari came out cold. Otherwise it was very flavorful with a definite Mediterranean feel (which is why they got 2 stars). Sadly the pizza came out with a large hair baked in and we did not even try it. I love service - it's def my thing - and honestly our waitress was out to lunch. I felt like our table was being ignored. But then another waitress took over- which was weird. The food was ok to good. The Mozzarella bread which is usually incredible lacked a seasoning and I can say the same for the crust on the Popeye. It could be that I usual go to The Big Cheese and everything there is usually very flavorful. Not sure what the case was tonight but overall I was not super impressed. Hopefully I will give it another try but right now I'm undecided. read more

Food was really good! Their bruschetta appetizer is absolutely delicious! You can't go wrong with the spaghetti and meatballs.

My wife and i stopped by for lunch. The décor is rustic Mediterranean. I like this showing. Everything came out promptly. The Beet salad was delicious very fresh. The chicken wings were piping hot, and yummy. My wife got the stuffed peppers for her main dish. She enjoyed them. I had the lasagna, it was very good. Again piping hot and excellent! Our waitresses was Nicole. She was extremely nice and accommodating. We don't get to this area very much, but we will definitely be back! read more

Had Dinner with my GF and her daughter. Daughter ordered the kinds tenders. The fries came with a ball of hair in it!! It was gross.. it ruined my appetite. I brought it to the servers attention who promptly took the meal and had a new one made. When the bill came they still charged me for the kids tender meal. Got ignored by staff when we walked into the restaurant. Got sat at a corner table and watched as many servers walked by us. Very loud inside the restaurant. Finally got waited on and then our food came. No one ever came back during the dinner to check on us, we had to flag down staff for a soda refill and napkins, as well as bread to go along with the salad. Ive been going here quite with regulars who invite me out here. The restuarant has an okay-ish atmosphere but staff expect heavy tips, and may not see your tip as "enough". On one occasion i tipped 10% and they were very unpleased about that and had told a friend of mine they expect a 20% tip.. I have also had refund issues with them being overcharged by $40+. Instead of coming to my aid and making it right, they were unhelpful and provided no help. Its clear the staff are unsupportive. If you would like to eat out somewhere and not have to worry about the service, avoid this place. Otherwise, if youre hungry the food here is alright. read more

I went to Wine and Cheese on Smith St a few days ago to take out. I bought just a chicken parm sandwich. At home as I was eating it I noticed that it was mostly filled with sauce and cheese, and just little cut up pieces of chicken. Also the F.F. were frozen and dry, awful!! If you are a little health conscious note that in their salad dressing they use cheap corn oil instead of EVOO it's written right on the bottle. No thanks!! read more

Just ok. Veal parm tasted like it was frozen. It was covered in too much cheese that congealed and hardened quickly despite the serving dish being hot. The pizza crust was thick and bland. Why take reservations when they aren't even asked for at the door? I made a reservation and the hostess(?) chucked when I mentioned it. I still had to wait a long time. The food is very expensive for what it is. How do you justify charging $20 for a baked plate of ziti, feta and spinach? The veal is greasy and void of flavor. I've had better pizza at Domino's. This place is just as good as its sister restaurant The Big Cheese. Their homemade salad dressing is out of this world and pairs nicely with almost everything. On this visit, I had their stuffed Greek Popeye which is always a number one one my list, so much so that I've never tried anything else from either place. I always enjoy the salad on the side with their yummy dressing and of course ask for extra dressing to dip with the Popeye. On this visit, I wasn't as satisfied as I usually am on my visit at the Big Cheese. The reason for the four stars is that the Popeye wasn't stuffed as much as it usually is when having one at the Big Cheese. Otherwise, I feel both places are excellent at what they do. This is the story I heard, and I'm not sure from whom, when or where. The owner on Wine & Cheese was a part owner of "The Big Cheese" on Reservoir Ave in Cranston. He opened Wine and Cheese and kept the same menu, recipes from The Big Cheese. Not sure if that's true, but when we heard this story, we quickly ordered a calzone on wheat dough. Seemed to be the same exact recipe as Big Cheese, which was a plus to us. We've ordered take out a few times. The pizza and calzone on wheat dough is delicious! We are really lazy to drive the 2 minute distance so we don't order from here much (no delivery). We decided to dine in due to me looking through my bookmarks and realizing that so many of my bookmarks are places I've been to, but it's been too long to report back. Yup, we went so that I could write a yelp review. My husband rolled his eyes as he realized that's what I was doing. We both ordered burgers, as it was the waitress' main recommendation. The hubby got the classic while I got the gorgonzola. I got mine medium well, I know, I know. I'm just always nervous about burgers. Mine was a little dry, which I take the blame for. The flavors of the mixed green, caramelized onions and gorgonzola were perfect! The hubby and I agreed that they could use a better bun. Sauce has too much seasoning, tastes like from a jar. Not fresh tasting, maybe too much oregano? I have been twice to this location, and I am still not a fan. The food is nothing to get excited about and while our server the first time was not good, the second time they were. The only redeeming quality I have found thus far are the mushroom appetizer, they are great! If they had a happy hour with those half price, I would put up with all the flaws. A friend and I just wanted to stop for a quick lunch somewhere. I checked out Wine & Cheese's menu and it looked decent, so we headed there. I pulled into the parking lot and was surprised that the lot was almost full on a Wednesday afternoon! The restaurant is also a lot larger than I had expected. Both my friend and I had salads... She had a garden salad with added chicken and feta... I had the Insalata di Campo which has dried cranberries, almonds and gorgonzola with a vinaigrette. Also, my son ordered the kids ravioli. So we didn't order much, but what we had tasted good! I have to say the dressing on my salad was very good, and it was dressed well (sometimes I get too much or too little dressing). Also, it had a good portion of gorgonzola on it (I love gorgonzola). My friend said her salad was good and she got a good portion of chicken with it. My son finished his ravioli, so I guess that's a good sign. The waitress was prompt with bringing everything to us... Overall it was a good lunch and I would actually be back for that salad! read more
