I've been here a number of times. Love the vibes - tons of seating with food and drinks options. I've only been here for breakfast/coffee and have been interested to try dinner. Coffee is good, love the vanilla flavoring they have here. The breakfast scallion pancakes are good, but VERY oily/greasy. I don't think I'd get again at this point bc the oil is just a little too much to enjoy. The Ube latte is also a fun thing to try. I like the vibes here but more so to take a friend from out of town, not to frequent myself. read more

I am writing this review with a mix of disbelief and frustration after a recent visit to Any Day Now, an experience that has left me questioning the integrity of your establishment. It saddens me, because I have been coming to Any Day Now for quite some time, with nothing but positive and enjoyable visits. Unfortunately, any hope for enjoyment was quickly shattered by the abysmal level of customer service that I encountered. I came in as it opened on Wednesday morning. I requested the same order that I always request: ube iced coffees for me and my co-teacher (along with one scallion pancake). Right away, I noticed that the man filling my order was not making ube iced coffees, but I didn't say anything because I figured he may be making it for someone else. When he brought me large black coffees, I kindly let him know that I had ordered ube iced coffees. Instead of acknowledging a mistake made on his part, he chose to direct his frustration towards me, raising his voice and engaging in a display of rudeness that was both shocking and unwarranted. What proceeded next was truly hard to believe. He threw down what looked like a towel and then began yelling at me and insisting that I ordered black coffees. I calmly told him that maybe there had been a misunderstanding, because I ordered ube iced coffees, which was what I always ordered here. His tone only escalated. He berated me - screaming it was all my fault. To make matters worse, he then proceeded to accuse me of intentionally ordering regular coffees but asking for ube coffees because I "knew" they were more expensive. I told him that I always ordered ube coffees and was more than happy to pay any difference. This did nothing to defuse this man's anger. At some point, his yelling caught the attention of another employee, who I believe was named Seth. Seth came out and apologized and offered me a free pastry, but I declined, because I was shell-shocked. In addition to the clear lack of accountability, the employees' demeanor was beyond reproach. Yelling at customers for a mistake that they themselves made is not only unprofessional but also disrespectful. In this case, not only was my order incorrect, but the subsequent treatment I received was utterly unacceptable. I was met with hostility when I expected an apology and a commitment to rectify the mistake. Such behavior is detrimental not only to the reputation of your establishment but also to the overall experience of your customers. I've never in my life experienced customer service like this. I enjoy ube iced coffees, but I will never return to a place where the employees treat customers in this manner. As someone who values quality service and a positive atmosphere, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this establishment to others. It is disheartening to experience such a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction, and it raises questions about the values and standards upheld by your coffee shop. I sincerely hope that this review serves as a wake-up call for your management to address the severe shortcomings in customer service. I implore you to take immediate action to ensure that no other customer has to endure such an unpleasant encounter in the future. read more

I will say that I have been SEVERAL more times now and I regret my previous harshness. Their black coffee is absolutely my favorite in the Navy Yard area. Black coffee if often an afterthought at many places, taking a backseat to espresso drinks, so it's often very weak or burnt, but I really like Any Day Now's and it is consistently made well. It is true that I'm not a fan of their scallion pancakes, but others seem to love them. Their staff are also wonderful and consistently so, perhaps I previously just caught them on an off day. read more

Went on a Sunday at noon and had no issues getting a table which is great, but was really disappointed to have to wait 30 mins for a mediocre sandwich. Wow I'm SO glad I finally got to try this place! First off, the aesthetics of this place is top notch. I love the ambiance! What enticed me the most to try this place was the ube viet coffee. It was ok for me, it wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping, but it was cool. I might try it again next time just to make sure. Now, the other stuff I wasn't planning on trying ended up being the best!!! I love their version of calamari. There was enough sauce, not too drenched, I love the savory and sweetness playing off each other. The kimchi egg breakfast sandwich was SO good! It came out hot and fresh, just everything I could wish for and appreciate the chili oil coming along with it. I devoured it. The coconut cake is so fluffy and semi moist. It's just the right amount of sweetness. I love it, when my family comes to town I want them to try it. Also, my server was very nice and attentive. Just visited this cute spot in DC. The atmosphere was nice, kind of gave me a Panera vibe. You walk in, order your food and then sit down with a pager and then pick up your food. The food was good, the coffee was alright. My biggest proponent for rating my experience at 3 stars was the breakfast surcharge of 12%. It did say on the menu at the very bottom in very small print that they charge this fee on breakfast and lunch but my understanding is that it's a breakfast and lunch restaurant. read more

I wanted to like this place, I did. The space is very cute with nice large windows and comfortable seating which I appreciated. It's an order and sit wherever vibe but the people who worked there definitely felt standoffish and didn't want to accommodate custom requests which is fine but the way they communicated seemed like they were very annoyed by me even just asking. Finally the food. I appreciate the small menu but if you have that, the foods gotta be good. The "scallion pancake" was way too thin and crispy - you couldn't even tell it was a scallion pancake. The chili oil was literally not spicy at all. The coconut cake was not great - maybe like it had been sitting a while but the cake was crumbly and not moist enough and the cream was not creamy but instead too thick and hard. The almond croissant had no topping - just won almond paste inside a plain croissant. It's a great space but the food needs some work. read more

Prices are also reasonable. Only removing one star because the lady who was working the cashier first thing this morning was very rude and frankly should not be in a customer facing role. Bonus for me that the kimchi is made without shrimp powder; and there are always gluten-free and vegan options for full meals. They're finally OPEN, which is the best part! The line might be out the door but it moves quickly. There are lots of friendly people working and orders are filled fast. The person at the checkout today was very nice and friendly even with the the pressure of a long line of customers. The chef was right there handing out to go orders with a smile and a "thanks for waiting" Good job on the scallion pancakes. We tried one with bacon and the other with sausage. Yummy fillings and the chili crunch is an EXCELLENT condiment. Seemed like plenty of comfortable seating around the bar and in the restaurant. And there's a water dispenser that is a nice touch. Came in for an early afternoon meal and liked the ambiance, but the door sign at the front was confusing. It said to see the hostess on the street side, but that was the street side and it just meant go to the register - not a hostess. Lots of other customers were confused by this too. Nbd really, but what gives this 3 stars for me is a few things. Primarily two coffees and two sandwiches costing $38 with a tip that's fully expected when they flip the iPad around. We also said we were dining in and the cups were still paper cups and plastic lids. This is not only wasteful but if we're paying that much money for coffee and a sandwich then I expect an actual coffee mug to sip while inside. The sandwiches were good but too oily for my liking and the coffee was average for a coffee joint, above average as far as coffee in general. I prefer Lot 38's coffee to this one's.
