DO NOT use this company for refrigerator repair. My ice maker was not working. Incompetent repair tech installed a new water pump and still not working when he was done. He stated "wait an hour or so" for it to start working. He was also unable to use diagnostic codes to force a manual water fill for ice maker. I had to show him how to do this. After he left I did an internet search for common problems with this model. I found a broken wire is a common issue and found this was the case. He returned and when I SHOWED him the broken wire he repaired them. The ice maker started to work right away. I requested at least a reimbursment for the part that was unnecessarily replaced excluding labor and was denied. I would expect a tech to use all available tools to find a reason an appliance was not working. I would also expect a company to stand by their work. read more

Had a diagnostic appointment yesterday, the tech did show up in the time frame provided. It was about an ice maker not producing ice, he spent literally 2 minutes looking at my ice maker, no testing or diagnostic done at all. He said I need to replace 2 parts for about 700 dollars and if that doesn't work I need to replace the control board. So when I wouldn't accept his repair plan he asked what my budget was, told him I didn't have one and then the price went down to 500 dollars. Avoid this business at all costs. I hired APL Appliance Repair to come out to look at my LG refrigerator. I thought the condenser was failing and wanted to confirm this. The technician was extremely hard to understand as he was from another country (Turkey). I showed him videos of the noise the fridge was making and all he did was vacuum the coils and said to unplug it overnight and see if it works in the morning. This cost 213.00. He then said to "sign here" on his phone to acknowledge that he was there & to pay. What I was never told was that they charge a 2.6% fee to use a credit card. I told her there is a large block of ice caught in the chute, and I need someone to get it out. She said they do not do that work, and that they only clean appliances. Then she hung up on me! Terrible service! I called back immediately, and got a different agent. She told me she would send someone that day. Rosh came out. He spent perhaps 20 minutes give or take getting the ice out, and charged me for labor only at $189.44! That is almost $600 per hour! A few days later, I found that the ice dispenser was not working, and called. Rosh texted back and told me there would be an additional charge if it was a different issue. I told him to come out. I thought it might be a different issue, like he said, but I was not sure. The text message receipt showed me that he read it. Two days later, I was STILL waiting for him to come! The technician did arrive on time, dismantled our dryer leaving parts in our laundry room and breakfast room only to advise afterwards he did not have the part and would need to come back between 7-8pm. Although this time seemed late to be returning, we agreed. The technician quoted us $325 fee and wanted us to pay 1/2 up front. We declined and paid the $75 trip charge and advised we would pay once the work was complete. When we did not here from the technician by 8pm, we started calling and texting only to be told they ordered the part and were waiting for delivery to their home and wanted to come between 9-10pm. We explained that was not acceptable. The technician at this point was rude, I asked for a refund since they did not live up to their promise and the technician told me we owed him for using our vacuum to clean our dryer. SCAM ALERT! All Star Pros of Lillington NC is a company that works under the umbrella of APL Appliance Repair home base Texas. I called the repair company for a refrigerator that wasn't cooling. I was told that it would be $75 for the call and that would go towards the repair once it was diagnosed. The guy showed up in a privately owned vehicle with the front bumper torn off. Instantly we had a communication issue. The technician had a middle-eastern accent that was at times was impossible to understand. He instantly went to work on the freezer. He worked no more than 5 minutes and said Tmthe motherboard was probably bad. Then said it was working good. He told me that he reset the motherboard. I was relieved that it was that simple. I was sure that I wouldn't be charged for something that I didn't need. The technician said that the company that he works for overcharges for repairs, and in future just call him directly and that he would only charge me $150 for the call. I then said that I was told the call only cost me $75. He corrected me and said that the call was $250 plus tax. We went back and forth for a couple minutes, and then I just wanted him gone. I was very uncomfortable and fent like I was being scammed. As soon as he left I placed a call to the company to complain and was hung up on. I tried to call back and my call was not answered. I called again and the dispatch office located in Texas answered and said they would have to look at the invoice and without exchanging any information said he would call me back and hung up on me. He called me back and then said he would have to forward me to the number where I could put in a claim. He forwarded me to the first woman that hung up on me. Recognizing it was her I asked why I was told that the repair would cost $75 over the phone and then was charged $250 when he wasn't even there for 15 minutes. She asked if I would be happier if he stayed there for another 2 hours. I said no and that is when she said that is the price for the knowledge the repair man had then hung up on me again. Said $95 charge for this visit can be applied to the repair, but work would not be guaranteed; not at all. (1st red flag...)Said it needs a special freon R290, which they don't have on hand. Expects freon to arrive Mon 11/11. 11/11 No call, no show. (2nd red flag) At 2pm I text him. No apologies. Says expects freon to arrive 11/12 so schedules install on 11/13. 11/13 No call, no show (3rd red flag) 11/14 Sends text that parts arrived and wants to schedule install on 11/15 1-4pm 11/15 No call, no show 11/22 I called office number 832-920-3791 Spoke to Anna and recounted this entire experience to her and asked for a refund. Said she would contact the tech and set up the install. I said forget it- I now have zero confidence in the tech and APL Appliance Repair. They've shown no urgency or concern for my business. My understanding was that $89 Visit Charge is deducted from Repair Work, not a PER-Appliance thing, e.g.) each appliance being quoted for repair doesn't involve $89 EACH, so if 3 appliances need evaluation & repair quote, Home Owner isn't charged $267 Visit!! Owner may ELECT to only have 2-of-3 appliances repaired, and each is not matched-up with a SEPARATE Visit Charge. As I wrote check for $89 tech told me that it IS $89-per-APPLIANCE, so NOTE: The Visit Fee is NOT "per Visit" but Per-APPLIANCE being quoted for Repair estimate. I opted NOT to have dryer lint-cleaning service, rather lose $89 today for 5min to be told ice-maker doesn't need repair & refrigerator lacks a filtration system VS. give my hard-earned$$$ to shady business with niggling terms. Never has an appliance repair company charged for a tech to come out with separate Visit Fees Per Appliance being checked-out to determine repair cost!!! If I had known in advance, I'd never have opted to have this company's tech come out to house to potentially nickel-and-dime the work, #Visits, #Appliances. My wine cooler stopped holding the temp settings for either of 2 compartments, I found APL on the I-net and set up an appointment for next day service (2/20/24) the technician showed up and said the control board was shot. I explained that I needed him to check the thermostats, the compressor, and sensors. He agreed and quoted a price of $400 including the service call. I thought it was high but he assured me he could fix everything 100%. It's now 6 weeks and 3 different visits and the only thing fixed was installing a new board. I requested APL to fix my dryer. They sent a tech, Yurri, who said it needed a new control panel. The control panel for this dryer is no longer available from whirlpool, but about a week later, Yurri came back with one he said came from his warehouse. After he put it in, the dryer did one load of clothes then wouldn't work any more. I called Yurri and APL about the problem. Super Fast service and response time... I called them at 5PM today and they were here before 7 with the heater I requested to repair my dryer!!! Did I mention today is Saturday and most businesses didn't bother to answer their phone but APL not only answered but serviced us today as well! Both gentlemen were polite knowledgeable and worked very quick. Within 20 minutes of being in my home they had replaced the heater and put my dryer that I ripped apart back together and tested it.
