I used to look forward to going to Applebees. We have been going regularly for the past 30+ years. My cardiologist wants me to eat healthy. He said I could eat Applebees Grilled chicken with 2 sides of Broccoli. Applebees no longer carries Broccoli even though it is still on their menu! The only Semi-healthy vegetable available without an UP charge is mushy garlic green beans( Believe me they are tasteless and mushy). For a $3 UP charge, you can get a salad or Mac and Cheese! I am going to have to find another restaurant. With O'Charley's closed, That leaves Cracker Barrel, Outback, and LongHorn! read more

The Applebees at Lakeland Plaza has been renovated and it looks great! However, our experience with their food has been challenging. We were there about a week ago for the Asian salad and it was delicious. Unfortunately, when we were there today it was nothing like it. It seems the consistency of their food needs improvement. We were a group of seven going to celebrate a daughter's birthday. We walked in and there was a sign saying to wait to be seated. Another group who were waiting left since it was apparent that no one was going to work the host station. We finally sat at the bar where we were served by a delightful bartender Jackson. He actually did the entire bar by himself of approximately 17 patrons. 1 1/2 hrs later we were finally served our dinner. Meanwhile we watched various people come and leave out of frustration due to lack of service. I had the onion soup, which was delicious. My husband had the riblets platter, which was tender and plentiful. I don't remember the what the others ate, but all were pleased with their meal. When Applebee's came onto the scene, it was a perfect neighborhood place for pub food and a cold drink. The food was fresh and the service awesome. Not so much anymore, which likely accounts for why many locations have closed. Our visit started with an ominous start - all the exterior lighting and signage were dark and it didn't look open. This wasn't just a timing thing, as this location has been dark for some time. The greeter wasn't super friendly or prompt. Our server was nice and attentive, but was doing a lot of close down work and seemed more focused on that. The food was a far cry from the glory days, or even 6 months ago. Signature dishes no longer have the look of a meal, but look thin, overcooked, and tired. The $1 double-fried shrimp add-on was the only value to be seen and worth the money. A port in a storm, but nothing more. Texas Roadhouse right next door should be your first go-to. read more

I have never left a review before in my life but listen to all the other reviews on here saying anything along the lines of "if i could leave 0 stars i would" its more than warranted for this pathetic excuse of an establishment. I attempted to eat here around 2 hours before they close and there were 2 couples and 2 guests at the bar when I arrived there was a manger, bartender, and server on duty when I went. The bartender greeted us at the door to seat us after we had been standing there for close to 5 minutes and she got tired of making awkward eye contact with us while pretending to be busy. Once we were finally seated she asked us for our drinks and if we would like an appetizer. So we ordered our drinks and an order of mozzarella sticks which all came quickly and admittedly tasted good. However when the mozzarella sticks arrived she asked if we knew what we wanted and it had only been 5 maybe 10 minutes at this point since we had been seated with menus and not everyone in our small group new what they wanted. She then let out a soft groan and walked away then proceeded to not check on us for 20+ minutes even though she was just 5 feet away behind the bar yet again not doing anything and just pretending to be busy or talking to one of the guest at the bar. After My group and I had all grown tired of waiting on the bartender and watching the manger on duty walk around and check on every single guest in the building except for us, purposely going out of his way to not walk by us or make eye contact. We tried to just walk up to the bartender and ask for our check so we could just pay and leave, her response was rudely replying with "Yeah just give me a second" in a very snappy tone then she proceeded to just stand there talking with the other server and manager then she disappeared to the back. We just decided to do the math and leave what we owed on the table and walk out, something I've never had to do. I don't know if it's because we were a group of young 20 something year olds or because it was late but either way I've worked in restaurants for the better half of a decade now and theres no excuse for how this Applebee's and its staff ESPECIALLY INCLUDING THE MANAGERS acted tonight. Also to note i would not be writing this if this was my first time experiencing something like this at this location because I understand an off night does happen but this is now the second time I've had an experience like this when dining here. read more

My wife and I enjoyed a meal on a Saturday night here. We originally tried to get a table at the Texas Roadhouse next door but the line and wait were to long. We were seated at Applebee's immediately. Service was excellent from all staff members we interacted with. Food was good, not excellent but good for the price. Applebee's is usually hit or miss for us. Tonight, things went well. Our waitress was great, I believe her name was Corey. She was very attentive and friendly and our order arrived correctly! :) We were given multiple menus - a bit strange, but I guess they have seasonal items to promote. My son enjoyed the American burger and fries. Applebee's has great fries (when they arrive hot). I had the bourbon chicken and shrimp. A friend recommended it to me, I should have picked something else. The blackening on the chicken was way spicy for me. Even hubby said it was too spicy for him as well. Oh well, learned my lesson on this one. Had a few appetizers. We enjoy the spinach artichoke dip and soft pretzels. Oh the best part was the delicious strawberry daiquiri!! Hit the spot! Good job today Applebee's! Note - we even had a manager come over and ask how everything was! Nice. This is unusual for this location. The hostess had zero personality and not friendly at all. The server was just as friendly and bland. Typical Applebee's atmosphere so you should know what you're getting into. "ZERO" I went to Applebee's because the line was so long at Texas Roadhouse, next door. I ordered an Asian chicken salad with grilled chicken. I waited 1 hour and 25 min for a SALAD and asked twice where my food was. Excuses. It finally came out and the chicken was fried instead of grilled. I went to the young, female manager and told her. I mentioned that I hadn't been there in 2-3 years due to poor experiences and told her I wouldn't be back. She gave more excuses but in no way did she apologize or try to make things right. We are in Cumming for a family wedding and some vacation time. We planning on eating at another restaurant but decided to try Applebees as we had not been there in awhile. It was a great choice. Larry had the Oriental Chicken salad which was as good as I remembered. I had the sirloin which was perfectly cooked as was my broccoli and green beans. Our waiter, Patrick, suggested the add on shrimp special for only $1.00 with any steak entree. We chose to have it grilled and it was really good. I could have honestly gone to Burger King across the street or Mc Donaldsand gotten more flavor. So my husband finishes his first serving of ribs, and ask for more, server brings him 2 small portions more, he ask for more and this time he only gets one, these are the riblets I'm talking about, how mediocre could you get applebees? The Applebee's in Cumming, GA was not having a good day last Saturday when my wife and I stopped by for dinner on our way home from visiting our grand Kids. We were read top relax, unwind, and have a nice mean. Grand kids are great, but they can wear you slap out. They were a little crowded, but not so much that we weren't seated right away. It about 5 minutes before our waitress noticed us and took our drink order. While waiting for our drinks, we noticed that the people in the table was having a loud conversation with the manager. It seems there was a problem with their food order. Crap happens and some people are whiners, so we proceeded to order. The new Wood Fired Grill menu looked great so we both ordered the bone-in Pork Chop, cheddar bacon potatoes, and fire grilled veggies. Yum. Everything sounded great! Our order took 30 minutes to be brought to the table, but to be fair, they were sort of busy. I knew we were in trouble when the pork chops looked a overcooked. In fact, they could have been used to drive nails, but I'm a sweetheart, so we got down to cutting the port chops. Unfortunately, we couldn't cut the overcooked chops with the butter knives they provided in our little napkin roll, so we requested real knives. Imagine that - sharp knives to cut meat. Is this place run by the TSA?!? Another 5 minutes went by before we got the knives, so it gave us time to explore the side dishes. The bacon cheddar potatoes were not quite what we expected. First of all there was hardly any cheese, and then the sour cream looked like cottage cheese it had curdled so bad. Seriously it was in dry knotty little globs. The grilled veggies were okay - woohoo! I know you're thinking that at this point, we pushed the plates back and called for the manager, but you would be wrong. We were greatly disappointed and decided to cut our losses, call it a lesson learned, and hit the road back home. Another 30-45 minutes waiting for replacements wasn't something we were willing to do. Yes, we gnawed our pork chops, picked the potatoes out of the goo, and savored the grilled veggies. Fortunately, they don't make the beer so we were good with that choice. Lesson learned. read more

Tonight's fiasco was two Bourbon Street steaks that were supposed to be well done and instead were bleeding. Bleeding not just in the middle, but from the edge which is always the most well done part of a steak. The last time I came here, I ordered a few Brownie a la Mode desserts to- go. How bout they packed the ice cream in the same container as the warm brownie? So, of course, I had a soupy mess by the time I got to my house which is less than a mile away. This time around, I spoke w/the GM, Ken Suggs, who was polite, but less than accommodating. Although he processed a refund, he never offered to make my order right or even apologize.
