This was a business dinner with a new leader. The service was great. Margaret was helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. The food was good too! This place had the toughest steak I have ever had. I ordered the bacon marinade fillet and it was an odd cut from the tenderloin that couldn't be cooked even. For a fifty dollar steak I expected lots more. I have had steaks from waffle House that I could chew easier than this one. The scallop potatoes with blue cheese was very good. My wife had the divers scallops and she said that they were good. For the price, I don't plan a return trip. read more

Located in Vickory - Cumming Ambiance is a nice wood dark bar feel. Casual but not too casual. We enjoyed dining at a bar table with the bartender Alexis as our server. She's very knowledgeable of the menu and offered great suggestion's. Everything was tasty (Dill Grilled Salmon & Fried Buffalo Chicken sandwich - although it is mild and not spicy like you'd expect). The fries are excellent! The only item I wouldn't recommend is the $10 Strawberry Shortcake dessert. It's pricey for what you get and there is not enough toppings for a dry shortbread / biscuit. Adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream would make it a very nice dessert and make the $10 price make more sense. read more

Two of us at 6:15pm on a Friday evening in late fall & we found the place jamming with young families enjoying themselves with kids in tow, some very over stimulated & a few wailing up a storm. The restaurant at dinner time is pretty dark inside so bring your glasses & a lighter. The bar room is open to most dining areas, & their regulars that night, not seeming fazed at all by the noise. Shown to an awkward oblong table for 4 with 3 sided bench seating but found table top sticky as was the floor below it. Server moved us to a much more comfortable booth in bar area. A Manhattan from well bourbon that I ordered was primarily Vermouth & way too much bitters but the rose wine was very nice. Ordered apps & salads that were all ok but salads were way over dressed. They were out of the optional add on steak skewers & our great server, Dan mentioned that a 4 ounce tenderloin was available. 4 ounces ? wow so this is where we are now with American beef. I sprung for that as some kind of steak was what I wanted and received a wonderful chargrilled morsel of steak, perfectly cooked medium rare as requested. The ahi tuna my partner ordered with salad was great too. Finished with bad coffee & passable desserts. I'd say that Branchwater fills an important role in the Vickery residents lives as it provides a nice menu & well prepared food. We went for Happy Hur which they don't have on Friday. We thought we tried this place again after having dinner there months ago. To our dismay there was no Happy Hour just discounted fried oysters as an appetizer. We figured we were already there and we decided to try it. The place was hopping and we immediately felt like this was the place to be. Football was on televisions and everyone was having a great time. I ordered an espresso martini as well as a pretzel with beer cheese and mustard. They offer a decaf espresso martini, but were out of the decaf pods that evening. The martini was strong and sweet. The pretzel was massive and served warm. The inside was soft and the outside was salted well. The beer cheese complemented it. The bartenders were warm and friendly. This place is honestly awesome. Everyone there is so nice and the food tastes amazing. Me and my girlfriend tried a bunch of the apps and they were unbelievable. If it's your first time there they give you free Brussel sprouts and oh my god....even if you don't like Brussel sprouts u have to try these... taste like heaven. Branchwater is a quaint log cabin-esque restaurant in Vickery Village. It's a bit upscale but not formal. I came for dinner with my dad and we started with the brussel sprouts appetizer. The flavoring was good but there were many burnt, flaky bits within. I had the hanger steak for dinner served with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was perfectly marinated with a slight hint of a sweet flavor profile. The asparagus was well-cooked and the potatoes were delicious and creamy. My dad had the Southern veal saltimbocca and he said it was good but there was barely any veal. I have a major sweet tooth so I had the creme brûlée for dessert. It was very sugary and sweet and garnished with a chocolate stick, I would have preferred a handful of berries on top. Our server was attentive and kind, we really appreciated her recommendations. The ambience can be very loud so it's not the place for a quiet dinner. The prices were very reasonable for the portions, in my opinion. read more

Service really was wonderful, the staff was polite and helpful, very quick too. The interior was very nice, comfortable and welcoming. For appetizers, I had the Pimento Cheese Deviled Eggs ($5.99), and the Spicy Tuna Poke with Wasabi Wonton Chips ($13.99). Both were delicious and cooked well. For dessert I tried the Crab & Crawfish Cakes ($29.99), the Grilled Lobster Tails in Horseradish Butter (mkt), and the 8 Ounce Bacon Marinated Beef Tenderloin ($41.99). The Crab and Crawfish Cakes were lukewarm and roughly 80% filler material. The cakes had no clumps of crab meat, and they felt and tasted more akin to canned tuna. The Grilled Lobster tails were better, though they lacked a robust flavor and were a bit overcooked. They were lazily plated with no real care, but overall they were my favorite of the mains. Unfortunately, the vastly overpriced Beef Tenderloin came back VERY rare, when i ordered Medium. I sent it back, but when returned it looked only slightly better, as if simply microwaved. The steak was extremely rare, and for a nicer restaurant charging this much money, I think that is quite honestly pathetic. Overall I think Branchwater seemed amateurish and a bit confused. read more

I came in this restaurant seeking a steak or maybe a surf n' turf combo. Later, I walked out a rather satisfied man with a belly full of fried lobster tail that was out-of-this-world delicious! They may classify this place as a steakhouse (which also serves seafood and other things), but I'm telling you based on my first impressions...this place could probably make just about everything they offer great! I don't say this often. But I was seriously impressed with everything here. From the service to the un-intimidating decorum, there's little to complain about here. Our server was sensational. Though at one point, she brought me a second tub of drawn butter when I meant for her to get me a second glass of wine. Bless her heart, she's so adorable! As mentioned, I decided to go for the fried lobster tails here because it's not everyday you come across a restaurant that serves them; especially when you live in the south west. I was delightfully surprised. The batter was well seasoned and not too thick. And the Maine lobster they used is succulent and tender. A splash of drawn butter and it's like heaven in my mouth. The fries are freshly cut and made in house with sea salt; always a bonus for me. The prices are fair, too. I just can't say enough good things about this restaurant. So, I'll just end this by highly recommending anyone who happens to be in the Cumming area to check this place out. And I'm giving Branchwater a solid 5 succulent fried lobster tails dipped in drawn butter out of 5. read more

The food was pretty good. My tuna was a little chewy. And the veggies that were paired with it were a little odd for the dish. The curry risotto was delicious, had a nice kick of heat. Husband says the scallops were pretty good. Risotto was great. The tables are oddly tall and we felt like kids sitting at it. We arrived at 6:55 for our 7pm reservation - which was booked several weeks in advance - and it still took a good 20 minutes for us to actually be seated. Staff kept telling people waiting that they "just need to clean off a table." I understand February 14 is a busy night but that's the whole point of a reservation. Once we were seated we were informed that the restaurant had run out of glasses, so we couldn't even get water when we sat down. If you are running a restaurant that runs out of glasses whenever it gets busy, you're doing something wrong. We ordered two appetizers which arrived promptly and were decent, but waited way too long for our drinks thanks to the glass situation. Our drinks arrived, then 10 minutes later a single glass of water, with the other water following a few minutes after that. Our server was very inexperienced and either gave wrong answers or had to check with other staff for basic questions. She was trying her best (and tipped nicely for her efforts) but it didn't help the experience. The restaurant itself was very loud overall, and we waited a bit too long for our entrees. We requested boxes as soon as the food arrived, packed everything up immediately and just ate the food at home. Overall a pretty lousy experience for a date night out. Especially considering the prices for the food. This is a restaurant that clearly used to be high-end but is now just pretending, while not knowing what it wants to be - other than "expensive for expensive's sake." Really disappointed, definitely not worth coming here. My food was "ok" at best , my husbands steak was barely cooked on the bottom, and this was a medium (more like raw). It was so chewy, not seasoned, and just a bad cut of meat , and $45 for that! You can 100% get better steak pretty much anywhere else for way less. Wouldn't eat that again if it was $5. Honestly this place was wayyyy overpriced for the quality you get, me and my girlfriend tried it out on a date night and we both agreed it was okayish food. Nothing special about it except for the high pricing, you can get so much better around here for that price. To top it off on the way home my girlfriend was sick to her stomach after her meal and couldn't even make it home which is 10 minutes from the restaurant... We ate at Branchwater last night for dinner. The booth size was awkward and tight and two dinner plates touched each other in the middle and hung over the edge a little. We had to ask for water. No bread was offered. Server was very polite and did a pretty good job. Brussels sprout appetizer was out of this world. Salads also so good! I ordered filet and my husband ordered salmon. His was nice and hot on arrival and very good. Mine was also very good but Just barely warm. I had to request a steak knife. I must say the steak was cooked perfectly. It must have sat on the plate waiting for the salmon to cook since it wasn't hot. The food is so good here. They need to step up the quality of service to match prices and serve their food hot. Went for the first time on a Saturday night. Able to make reservations the same day, and the place was bustling. It took a long time for someone to initially come by our table, but the service was good once it started. Food portions were good, brussels sprouts amazing. For some odd reason the booths are really tight. Beware of this if you like a lot of room. The drinks were overpriced which is the reason why this is three stars instead of four. $16 for an Old Fashioned and surprisingly when we got the bill, we were charged $17 for each one (and yes, we got it corrected when we brought it to their attention). Other cocktails were overpriced as well, and nothing special, which is the main reason why I'm not anxious to return. read more

For me, this location has not gotten any better, but this time it was the service. We spent an afternoon out with my in-laws and then came here afterwards for dinner. We had one more in our party than expected and this seemed a major issue at the hostess stand. We had to wait a while before a table was prepared in the bar area and at that point in time, it was early (but during open hours) there was almost no one in the place and no reason we should had to wait 15-minutes. While food was fine and generally 3-stars the entire staff seemed very young and not well trained. We actually had a really nice young man as our server but after struggling mightily with a bottle of wine he admitted no one taught him how to open one. There were 6 of us so when the second bottle came out I showed him how use the opener and he was clearly happy and grateful we'd taken the time to teach him. He gets 3-4 stars, but at least 4 for having a good attitude. We'd sent a beer in a glass with a chipped rim back and my wife was walking by when the waiter presented it the bartender and the bartender said to the waiter, "They did that to the glass themselves", or something like that. Further, another at our table returned a Manhattan as it was cloudy yet watered down. They took it to the bar themselves and asked the bartender if they could get another, stirred not shaken. The bartender's response was, "A Manhattan gets shaken and we shake all our Manhattan's", in a very snotty tone. It was quite shocking. Our dining pal said, "Id prefer it stirred, as it should be, please" and the bartender (a young lady) gave more attitude with a yank of the glass and a look. The whole bar area went quiet. Aside from our waiter (not his fault no one taught him how to use a corkscrew) this was yet another disappointing experience at this location. read more

Stopped in and was pleasantly surprised. Started with cucumber mojito. Was excellent. Waiter recommended the Brussels sprouts, and we had oysters. Both were excellent. Then we ordered the steakhouse burger and i had the sashimi appetizer. The burger was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. Delicious with the brie and a sweet tomato compote. The chef here is absolutely amazing, I'm a slightly picky eater but I find myself ordering dishes from his menu without any special instructions or picky requests, because his food is that amazing. I never liked Brussels sprouts until I had them here. He's also the chef owner of Branch and Barrel and Indigo, and I believe he's currently planning a fourth addition to his restaurant 'empire'. The service is generally good; the bartenders could be a little more attentive, especially when it comes to keeping drinks full, but the excellent food and atmosphere usually make up for the slack in this area. The live music on Fridays and Saturdays is always an excellent choice of musicians, generally playing that selection of Americana that everyone across all generations and backgrounds love - never too loud, but still at a volume that appeases those who come just for the music. We never fail to make friends when we go out for a date night and end up sitting at the bar; it's all around a great place to go out, have some excellent food and drinks, hear some good music, and meet some great members of our community. read more

Celebrated Mother's Day today here. This is one of the two days they do a set Buffet menu. The other day is Easter. Appetizers were great my wife had the Chicken & Corn Chowder with Golden Sherry. She loved it and was very impressed with the flavor and spices. I had the Cajun Chicken Egg Roll with Creole Mustard. Outstanding taste and flavor on this egg roll the chef has done a wonderful job. The buffet included eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, Belgian waffles, Mac and cheese, brisket, dill salmon, prime rib, and shrimp and grits. Everything was perfect and all found was outstanding. They had the staff serving from behind the bar so no worries during this buffet. Landon was our waiter and did an outstanding job and was super professional knowing when to approach and when to leave you alone. His suggestions were spot on with the selection of drinks and appetizers. Had a chance to speak to the manager a very nice lady, told us they have brought back all of the staff they had laid off from COVID. So wonderful to see the restaurant bring everyone back and still doing well. Do not miss an opportunity to check this restaurant out. 5 star for sure. read more
