Ok so it's applebees. You have to expect what you get for coming here. So I like coming here for happy hour, just like 70% of Tacoma likes to do as well. The bartender (Fred) was great. He stole the show n I wanted to tip him as we sat at the booth waiting. Was surprised to see such a low star rating for this location. My friend and I ended up here after plans fell through and wanted to grab a sit down bite that was open. Applebees popped up. I have to admit, its been awhile since I have dined at a applebees. After a slight wait at the host stand, we were seated in the bar area. After a look at thr room and the wait, it seemed like they were a bit under staffed. We did get waters quickly and our initial waitress took our drink order. My friend had a blue drink that was featured and I had a mt dew. She said the drink was good. As I mentioned since I hadn't been there in awhile, the second person to help was our actual server. She was great helping us maneuver through the menu. We settled with the bread sticks with Alfredo, ribs and a burger. The bread sticks were surprisingly phenomenal and enjoyed them with Alfredo instead of the normal marinara. My friends ribs were great, and my burger was on point as was my mashed potatoes. All piping hot. Only little drawback was had to wait a bit on the refill, but they were busy and not a huge deal. Great food, atmosphere, server was fun and pleasant, everyone was covid compliant. So nice(: So my friend and I were having no luck finding a bar/restaurant to go to and have a drink to celebrate our birthdays. One bar we went to said they would charge $15 for bringing in outside food (cake). That was a bust. Instead of walking into a couple bars and walking out, I decided to call and find out what time Applebees closes. It was around 11:30 pm and they closed at 12. We ended up stopping by here, ate our cake and enjoyed it, and had a couple cocktails. Just being our luck, we ended up coming on a night with happy hour $5 cocktails! This location is busy. My suggestion is we are going to eat here get a table. because the staff at the bar are useless and very on attentive. They tend to take your order and then leave you and not pay attention to what's going on. On a road trip to Mercer Island, Washington we stopped due to heavy traffic/road construction at this Applebee's hoping for a good meal. Sadly, the steaks were over-cooked, dry, and cold, the mashed potatoes were clumps of potatoes (as one would use in potato salad), I ordered them topped off or "loaded" as some Applebee's call them, with sour cream, cheese and bacon bits ... cold, colder than the steak. The manager walked by our table numerous times before stopping to ask why we weren't eating our meals - the waitress never came back, she was too busy talking about the pool party from the night before and how hung-over she was, and telling any of her co-workers how she got written up in the building she lives in for being to rowdy. The manager took half off of our bill, since we didn't eat, she should have taken it ALL off the bill. The worst service I've ever had at any Applebee's!!! read more

I don't usually write bad reviews but we dine in and got introduced by a lovely host great service by her part. We got sat and waited about 30min and still didn't get served. I'm in the restaurant industry so I understand if it's busy but we haven't got a greeting by anyone.. we took the tablet from the table next to us and ordered ourself something instead.. that's when a lady came and said if we ordered something from that table. We told her we haven't got served and if she can just transfer the table to ours.. another 30 min went by no food and still no greeting by any server this happened at 9 table 57 server on the tablet said "alex"... I recommend dining in Applebees in Lakewood since they never disappoint... and we ended up walking out after waiting 1 hour with no greeting. We had a pretty long and stressful day and we were looking for a restaurant nearby to just connect, unwind and get something to eat! This was my first time eating at an Applebee's in the Tacoma area. My Uncle came in for an event and his Hotel was within the area. It was late around 9 almost 10pm on a Thursday night. We entered the restaurant, seemed like a so-so night except there was no one to greet us. Weird. After about 5 minutes we decided to seat ourselves in the bar area since there were 6 of us and people were looking at us as if we were supposed to seat ourselves. Lol 5 min later someone noticed us and asked if they can move us to a different section. We said sure and got us in quickly which was much more comfortable since we had a few pregos in our group. Lol We settled in and there was a lovely young lady named Amber who came and got us situated. With the day we had, and the reviews with this location, I didn't expect much for the rest of our night and was just hoping for more than mediocre service and food. Amber was very attentive and helpful! Helped us w/ decisions concerning our order and explained a few things we didn't quite get, as well as giving us options and advice based off our likings. She even went out of her way to take our pictures with all of our cameras (lol) and tried different angles to get us all in the pic w/o getting some of our pregnant bellies lol which I thought was very sweet of her! She was the one of the best outcomes that happened to us all day. Thank you kindly Amber! Our food came out within 15 min which I thought was quick for the amount of food we ordered. Everything was exceptionally good. From our salads to the appetizers to our meal, I am surprised that no one had any complaints. My 1st time ordering the 3 course classic burger meal and everything was well done. Compliments to the chef and those who prepared our meals. Nothing was undercooked nor burnt. We had good portions on everything that we had leftovers to take home. Presentation was good. The prices were reasonable and my veggies and salad were fresh! Wow. Job well done! Overall, I would really like to shine light at a huge thank you to Amber for going above the standard description of her job. It truly does mean a lot to be taken care of throughout our whole time there from beginning to end making sure to meet our needs especially after the day we had. On top of that the food was deliciously prepared and came out sooner than expected hot and ready to enjoy. My only regret is that we had a misunderstanding with her tip and thought when we split the bill the tip was included in our individual portions. :/ Glad one of us left a cash tip since they weren't part of the card transaction. Just disappointed that it was less than what we wanted to tip. Be careful going to applebee's on Meridian a 168th or 72nd in Puyallup because it seems like they are out of everything. I called and filed a formal complaint but basically the restaurants think it's OK during happy hour to be out of everything of everything and sit there emphatically apologizing. The point is if you have a manager who doesn't know how to plan out the busy times to make sure he has all his ingredients it's a it's a poorly run restaurant. read more

We came with a group of 10 at 9:55 PM. The host (Mirelle) told us that the wait would be 20-30 minutes. Half the restaurant was empty, but I thought maybe they were short staffed. They asked us to wait outside to prevent over crowding, then when we walked in after the 30 minutes and noticed we had another 25 minutes posted on top of the wait time with the restaurant almost completely empty. They eventually sat us down after we talked to them, but I just wish that they would just refuse our service given that we did show up late in the night with a party of 10. Service was great tho. Our server (Hope) was on point with drinks and orders. We were given a 20 minute wait apon entering it really only took 5 minutes. We did notice once seated that many tables would be available if they cleared them. For a Friday night it was very busy. Not to loud. But once we were ready to order it took awhile . We ordered 2 drinks it took only 6 minutes for our drinks to be delivered. We were able to order our happy hour appetizers from the table electronic machine. Our drinks were all good. I really loved the salted rim. The place was a disaster...lack of help. Two cooks and evidently no one to wash dishes because the waiter said they were short on eating utensils and offered plastic. When the food arrived it was below marginal and greasy. I can't even image the stress the two folks cooking in back were under. Maybe consider closing down for a week or so to get things together. Pre covid, Red Robbins was the place to eat at - fun and good food. Where was management? Christina the manager is extremely unprofessional and rude. How could you as a manager talk down to a group of educated professionals in the manner which is derogatory. Great service and a fun atmosphere. I've been several times over the past month and I always request the same server because he takes great care of us and is super outgoing. There is such a nice variety on the menu and lots of great deals like the 2 for $20 and Take Two combos. I was impressed with how quickly the food came out on all of my recent visits. They also have a new touch screen device at each table, his name is Ted. He allows you to place an order, play games, call your server to the table, and even pay your bill. We utilized it today and it worked perfectly. I also recommend signing up for the loyalty program with email or text and you'll get special coupons and deals, get a free appetizer just for signing up. The food is delicious. Their steaks are nice and reasonably priced, and there are lots of great chicken and seafood entrees as well. There are quite a few happy hour specials also. The only thing I would like to see implemented is a military discount. Other than that, they've got it all covered! read more

My sisters, my daughter and I went here during happy hour for some cheap eats after shopping. We were greeted quickly. Our server, Michelle, was wonderful!! Very interactive, but didn't talk to the point where it was annoying. She got our food to us very quickly & our water cups were never empty! The food was good. The host opened the door as we approached and greeted us to be immediately seated. As we walked though the restaurant we were welcomed by three other waiters throughout the restaurant. Our waiter although new and slightly unfamiliar with the menu was very informative about menu options. There was a shift change in the middle of our service and the new waiter ensured we we're made aware. This may all be standard but I appreciate great customer service at a bargain chain restaurant or anywhere and it should be expected. Amazing! I am a veteran and went to celebrate Veterans Day there. So glad I ended up there as it was my next choice after a bad experience at a previous establishment. (Not the point.) Our hostess, Gladys, was amazing! Polite, pleasant, working with her team and in total control. She was organized! So important on freebie days like today. Thank you! Aside from being on point, just a different disposition after a bad experience turned my whole Veterans Day Meal moment around! We sat at the bar where we were served by awesome bartenders, Jelly, Tarah and Anabel. They're pleasant personalities and great work ethic had them spot on the whole night. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by this location near our house before a movie date thinking it was going to be quick due to previous experiences with fast service. This was not the case this time. We walked in and sat at an open table at 4:15pm... we walked out of the restaurant at 4:40pm without any service or acknowledgement given to us. The table to the direct left and right of us were given full service yet.. we seemed invisible? The establishment was not incredibly busy either. I can completely understand had it been wall to wall packed but it wasn't. There were more than half of the seats open at the bar and multiple tables available in the dining section. I counted at least 7 waitresses working, as well. I'm VERY displeased with this and probably won't be back at this point. read more
