The first time I reviewed this location I gave it one star. I even took a break from eating out at any Applebee's because of the horrible service I received. This past year things have drastically changed, for the better. This location has gotten a much needed overhaul in staff, which was their biggest issue. I now, again, enjoy eating out and drinking at Applebees. I highly recommend this location. Much friendlier staff and food and drinks are great, amazing compared to the other nearby locations. read more

Sitting in the bar for 15 minutes with ID sitting on the table. Three different servers walked by looked at us and kept walking by with not so much as a head nod. The bar tenders looked at us several times as well. We had our food and drinks picked out and even put it in their electronic order system and still no one came to our table. We asked the hostess who our server was and all we got was a shoulder shrug. After that we decided to leave and head to buffalo wild wings. Absolute WORST service and experience I've ever had at this location. I understand it's a Friday night, but it was horrible. Waitress took awhile to come to my table and when she did she only gave us enough time to order our drinks an appetizer. When trying to let her know that we already knew what what wanted to order and that we wanted to get the order in with the appetizers, she just quickly walked away. When I ordered my Mac and cheese with the Honey chipotle chicken tenders it came back with only 3 bite sized chicken bites. I had to ask for some regular sized tenders and even those can back with no sauce on them. When it was time to pay they made sure to let me know that I wasn't charged for the (2) extra tenders they gave me. "Like duh" I wasn't expecting to pay for a mistake y'all made. My family and I had encountered THE WORST experience at apples bees in Tacoma trying to celebrate my little sisters 22nd birthday! First off when asked for ID's to order drinks I provided her with my ID and got denied due to my license being tampered ( my dog got to it ) . Y'all obviously have never had a dog before. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TURNED AWAY USING MY ID THIS WAS THE FIRST I HAVE USED IT LITERALLY EVERYWHERE IN WA WITH NO COMPLAINTS AND IF YOU RAN IT THROUGH THE BLACK LIGHT YOU WOULD HAVE SAW IT WAS LEGIT AND VALID! Second our drinks took forever to come which was ridiculous and it didn't even taste like there was alcohol to begin with just tasted like JUICE! We ordered 3 margaritas which cost 11 dollars each the worst decision ever I could have went to a Mexican restaurant and they would have made it so perfect for the same price. Our food came out and WE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO UTENSILS TO UTILIZE were we suppose to eat like barbarians?? On top of that the guy server who was in the section closest to my table kept staring at me every time he walked back as if I was in the wrong for something. My husband and I wanted a quick bite to eat after a long night of packing. He got a cheeseburger and I had a steak and mashed potatoes. My steak was perfect and the mashed potatoes were actually really good! Our server was attentive without being overbearing. My mom was looking for chicken fried chicken from an Applebee's from another state and this one did not offer the same entree. I'm thinking they have a new version because she did not like it. How hard is it to make that southern classic. The sauce was too sweet but the chicken was not gamey and pretty moist. We also had the pork chop and the sauce on that was also very sweet and not appetizing. I was not in the mood for a full heavy meal so I opted for the cup of chili. It was subpar but good enough for a light fare. The overall meal was fine due to service and ambiance but the food was not good enough for us to revisit this chain. read more

When i called to make an order the guy on the phone sounded annoyed that I wanted to make an order. So i just brushed it off because maybe he was having a long day. Then i ordered my food at 7:40pm which was only two desserts. They told me that it will be done by 8:00pm. We got there by 8:10pm. And the dessert was not done yet. I'm a Tacoma resident, in love with our great bars and food venues. I have to admit, though, big chains have never been my lounge or eating choice. However, this Applebees on 72nd Street has totally altered my opinion of this. We started going to their late night happy hour, just because it fit into our work/lifestyle schedule. We're artists and do work on line and often find ourselves buried in our work until 9 or 10pm. The first time we went, being newbies, we had to have the happy hour offerings explained to us. Our server, whom we later learned, is a 17 year veteran of the company, took her time to clarify everything, totally pleasant and polite, in the midst of a full bar and restaurant. I ordered the $3.50 wine pour, a very generous pour! They offer Barefoot white or red at that price. While not high end wine, it's always been consistent and the winery continues to keep its ratings. And heck, where are you going to get a nice, fat pour for that price? As of this review, the average house pour is $6. They don't have a lot of domestic beer offerings, however they discount choice imports by $1. Now their piece de resistance is their happy hour appetizers at 1/2 price! Their won ton tacos are delish, as is their wedge salad with bacon and pecans. We also tried their boneless chicken wings and spinach and artichoke dip. We were not disappointed! The highest price was a little over $5. The next time we went in, we were again greeted by Rebekah (sp?) Who remembered us, took time to talk with us, even remembered what we were drinking. The restaurant is lively, but not overbearing with many long time employees. People appear happy there. We are sold and will be back. In Lakewood there are only a couple of options for late night eatery if you have some young-lings with you. This is a place that definitely want your business during these economic times. Waitress showed up promptly to take our drink order I requested pomegrante lemonade. Drink took too long and tasted like pink lemonade not what I was expecting. Oh Applebees, the land of half price appetizers (even if you're only drinking tea and not sitting in the bar!) I have to say, going here later and sitting in the bar makes the experience that much better. I don't really have an opinion on much here other than bar food appetizers and the quesadilla burger, which are both in my opinion good for what they are: consistent chain food. I don't usually order drinks here unless they're on special because they're just too expensive. I get consistently good service with great service on occasion. My first experience with this Applebee's my fiancé and I stopped in because we love Applebee's, and have always had a really great experience. This was not one of those times, this location has disappointed us beyond believe. Our first interaction into this Applebee's they didn't even acknowledge her presence, the host said less than three words to us in total, and the service was less than satisfactory. The second interaction we had with this Applebee's, we are working for DoorDash, and picking up an order for a customer. They took an extra 35 minutes out of our schedule and made our order late, making us look bad to the customer. We were staring at the order on the counter for over 10 minutes before anyone bothered to grab it and give it to us, We are incredibly disappointed with this location. My son's cheeseburger kids meal was not even put together and the burger so burnt it was falling apart! They gave him 3 BROWN apple slices as his side. My steak was dry and flavor less and a lot tinier than what I ordered maybe it a 4oz at most. The coleslaw had no dressing. Fries were really dry. Only thing edible was the riblets. Came here just for a drink with two of my out of town relatives. Sitting in the bar area on a weekday evening. Place was not filled. Plenty of seating inside and outside of bar area. We just came for a couple of after dinner drinks to celebrate their visit. The waitress took 20 minutes to even acknowledge us. When she did arrive she acted as if we were an irritant. We got one drink each that took another 15 minutes to arrive. We had to ask a buser to order our next round of drinks as she was the only person to acknowledge us after our first round of drinks. We left and did not tip. I was pissed. The only reason I give this a 2 star is for the waitress from 2nights before this visit was great. Her name was Ashely. She was nice, prompt and didn't even need a pad to take our orders. She needs a raise. read more

We dined here last night and on couple occasion. It's alway pretty decent food and fast service. They're usually busy, but you don't have to wait too long. Another Casual dining place that I can enjoy on occasions. Parking is not a concern unless you go at a the evening food rush, where you have to fight with other food eaters. The food is pretty good. The last time I went I had the orange chicken bowl, and it was good. The chicken was really crispy, and the sauce was really tasty. Dessert is also very good. I stopped in to watch the Sounders game & a good bite to eat. Unfortunately they have Dish network & with Dish & Fox fighting, no dice on the game. However Lola, my server was incredible! She made a few excellent recommedations, always made sure that I needed for nothing.
