Yes service is a hit or miss but the food is always good. They always have great deals and the portions are decent.

I had a really disappointing experience at 101 N Northern Way, York, PA 17402 and wanted to share it with others. We waited about 30 minutes just to get our drinks, and our food didn't arrive until about an hour after we ordered. Our server kept forgetting about us, even though the restaurant wasn't busy--there were only about three other families there. I had already signed up for the rewards app and had the code for my free appetizer ready to use, but no one acknowledged or accepted it. They didn't even mention it until after we had already paid our bill. For nearly $75, the portions were also disappointing, especially the fries. When I got home and started eating the free appetizer, I found multiple pieces of plastic in the dip. I also noticed hair in several of the food items we were served. I spoke with the manager, but instead of taking my concerns seriously, her response was, "You got your food and you ate it," in a rude tone. That was incredibly unprofessional and made the situation even more frustrating. Overall, this was a terrible experience from the service, food quality, and the way my complaint was handled. I'm seriously considering reporting my concerns to the local health department because finding plastic in food and hair in multiple items is unacceptable. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I'd give this experience 2 out of 5 stars. read more

The remodel is beautiful and our food was good, everything came out hot probably because this place was a ghost town. I felt bad for the servers, who were more on their phones than doing side work but I imagined they got it all done with how slow it was inside. We went on a Tuesday at 7pm. I ordered the oriental chicken salad and my husband ordered the salmon, both were yummy. We got the triple chocolate meltdown for dessert to share - yum! (The only picture I got). Our server wasn't very personable, just seemed like he'd rather be doing something else than serving customers. I don't know that will be back to this location anytime soon. read more

Absolutely do not waste your time or money at this place. I was served water that had a strong chemical taste--something was clearly off, like it had been sitting somewhere it shouldn't have. On top of that, the level of unprofessionalism was hard to ignore. Staff seemed more focused on their phones than on serving customers, and the overall service was disorganized and inattentive. I asked for an apple juice for my daughter when we sat down and didn't receive it until the food came out. When I followed up a second time, the server responded with "yes please," which made no sense and added to the confusion. The food itself was mediocre at best--maybe a 5 out of 10. For the prices they're charging, you'd be better off going somewhere like Chili's, where at least you know what kind of service and quality to expect. I won't be returning. read more

The food was 3/5 which is interesting because normally I'd love Applebees food but it was not that great this time around. I'm giving it an overall 4/5 because my server Brandon was fantastic! His service was a 5/5 for sure. Attentive and friendly. The sampler platter was okay. I didn't touch the chips because the spinach dip was not good. I tried it twice and couldn't continue. The other food was alright. My four Mac and cheese with honey pepper chicken seemed like it'd be packed with flavor but again it was just okay. The food was very good however when I ordered chicken wings I realized that they were just chicken tenders with bbq sauce on them so. The service was very nice and they check on you thoroughly, the only issue was when I asked for the dessert menu and she brought me a check thought I believe that was just a mistake. Two in our party had cheeseburgers, accurately customized and accompanied by delicious crisp fries. The burgers were the right balance of beef, cheese, fixings, and bun. The portion was large. I enjoyed the grilled chicken tortilla wrap, with lean breast meat, vegetables, and crispy Asian noodles. Social distancing and safety precautions were all adhered to. Wow, ok.. I just called here and placed a full order less than an hour ago. The phone was picked up, my order was taken, and the man I spoke to even asked if I wanted to add a "brownie bite or mt dew" at the end.. both obvious signs that this person works there and knows the menu. He confirmed the time of pick up and the address of the restaurant. I drove all the way there to a dark and obviously closed Applebees (reopening soon sign on the gazebo outside) and called the number I had just called and ordered through 30 minutes prior and no answer... twice. I hope whoever answered the phone and took my full order got a good chuckle. I will be reporting this location in the morning for bad business practices and hope they never re-open. The Four Cheese Mac and Cheese didn't have any cheese, the chicken was rubbery, the fries tasted like someone dropped them in the trash then put them on the plate, our waters tasted like dishwater, the cocktails barely had alcohol in them. We were a group of 30-40 softball players, parents and coaches. We arrived right at 5 pm on a Friday. The hostess was clearly overwhelmed. They ended up just seating us in a section of the restaurant, not moving any tables, We were initially overlooked for our order. Eventually, they took our drink orders and did a pretty good job keeping them filled. Our food didn't take too long once I ordered was taken. I usually don't leave reviews or complain/ send back food but my family and I went to Applebees for dinner tonight and was very disappointed. The waitress was very friendly so no negativity towards her. The food on the other hand was awful we order the artichoke dip for the appetizer and really only ate the chips due to the weird taste and hard chunk in the center. I ordered a steak medium rare and I didn't even feel comfortable to finish eating it due to the center being raw(still didn't send it back) and when my husband got done eating ( the bourbon chicken) he felt sick almost immediately and when we got home he was unable to keep it down. The food was really good but the service was terrible. I ordered a four cheese Mac and cheese with 3 chicken tenders and the server dropped one of my tenders while bringing the food out and did not bring me a replacement until after I was already finished eating. My friend ordered boneless buffalo wings and the got her wing order wrong 3 times so she sat there and watched everyone else eat while her order was being ruined. The waiter was gone the whole time so we couldn't order any more drinks. It was just a terrible experience. The Night of the Applebees Fiasco - also entitled Just go to Arby's It was a cold windy March evening. A full moon in the sky, the only outcome of convincing my girlfriend to go to Applebee's for a nice Saturday evening out; disaster. We chose the bar to save us from a 15 minute wait time, boy was that a mistake. Ordered our drinks and some appetizers A few minutes later the kid behind the bar who has only loudly complained about how much he hates his job and how he wants to go home says in our general direction: "I wanna strangle all of you," speaking about his employees or so he said after I blurted out, "what?!" from utter disbelief. After 40 minutes and not once being checked on if we were okay, we started realizing that people who came in after us were getting their food. We were already pretty annoyed by the place so we just decided to leave without the food and figured they forgot about it. When I asked for the check I heard the manager ask the kid if he ever put our food order in and he laughed and said "oh shit, I must have forgot" the manager did not apologize to us, just gave us the check and said thank you. Obviously no tip for them. My goal in writing this was originally to be a final strike for the bartender who was working tonight (March 4th in case any kind of manager sees this) so he could be "dropped off on the corner" as he kept asking customers around the bar to do so for him. So it's really a win-win. He never has to come into work again and all the nice customers at Applebee's never has to hear him threaten people anymore and loudly complain about his job. Unfortunately, after reading the cocaine review it's clear this establishment should just be closed as it's a disgrace to the great Applebee's name. My girlfriend and I wound up getting Arby's takeout just around the corner and received excellent service and a great meal. Tonight i had to go there with a friend, and looking through the menu my thought was what can I order that they can't ruin. I happened upon 4 cheese mac with bbq chicken tenders. Have you ever heard of throttling when it comes to cell phone data plans. That is what Applebee's is doing with this all you can eat deal. Got my first order and immediately ordered my second. Took forever. So the next time I timed it. 25 minutes later the next order came. Funny thing was my wife's was not right and had to reorder it. She was told by the waitress she would not have to wait for it and had it in less than 5 minutes. Restaurant was fully staffed and only half full. The first thing I noticed about this restaurant is that it looks clean. It looks to be pretty new and that is good. I have no idea when it was built. Once you dig a bit deeper, you start to see that it isn't quite as clean as it looked initially because things like wrappers for straws are not removed from tables etc. This makes me question the overall cleanliness of the restaurant but I digress and will move on to the meal. My family and I wanted burgers and back in Wisconsin, where we used to live, Applebees would do Monday specials on burgers. This Applebees doesn't. We ordered burgers off of the menu and were relatively happy with the taste but not satisfied with the value. An order of onion rings has only 5 rings in it and two of those contain the outer peel of the onion? That wasn't acceptable. The fries that my wife and son got were very sparse totaling around 10 each. Our total order was around $40 for 2 french onion soups, one of which was about half full, 3 small burgers, 2 skimpy orders of fries and a very skimpy order of onion rings. I had two $25 gift cards and gave the balance as a tip--so I would never have to come back. read more

This place is a disaster! No one wears their masks correctly- everyone even the managers have their masks under their noses. The two hostess were bickering all night about reaching their capacity and when they can and can't seat people. In addition there were fruit flies flying around! Our waitress was talking to another table with her mask OFF how she hasn't been feeling herself and she's had the chills all day. We were only told that my boyfriends dinner wouldn't have mashed potatoes because they ran out, when they brought my food out.
