Yesterday I ordered Tex mex shrimp bowl and Applebee's margarita. The food was so delicious and smelt good, that I immediately dived down to eat and forgot to take pictures. Usually I can't eat an entree at one go but yesterday I polished off the whole entree at one go. I love Mexican food and the dish was perfect for my Indian palate. The shrimps were well cooked and I loved the coriander rice. It was so delicious. I am going to order it again. One thing I like about Applebee's is their pricing. Had a great experience at this Applebee's for lunch today. Our food was hot and came out fast. Service was great, from the host and server, even the manager checking on our table. I have to also say that I felt really comfortable with the safety precautions put in place for COVID. The restaurant was clean and there were barriers up for social distancing. There's nothing too special to write about this restaurant. The service was good in general (other than the server dropping my knife on my pants when she was clearing the table) and nice and the food was tasty. I would rate this restaurant more of a 3.5 stars. Ordered the following: 1) Crunchy Onion Rings The onion rings was definitely crispy and well battered. It arrived on the table piping hot which is good. 2) Grilled Chicken with Cilantro Lime Glaze The main course was above my expectations. This dish was on the restaurant's summer menu. The chicken was juicy and tender - definitely worked well with the Mexican rice etc. I would definitely recommend this dish. 3) Napa Chicken and Portobellos The chicken was a little dry and the dish overall was bland. Expectations are everything, and can completely dictate one's experience. Expectations can be molded by prior experience, prejudice, or an educated notion, but regardless of the cause of their formation, expectations are just as influential on one's experience as the activity itself. Although I attempt to be unbiased, it is impossible to remain truly neutral. I was reminded of this notion when I had been informed that my Tuesday night dining experience would be in the hands of Applebee's, which even the name itself provokes a mild physical repulsion for myself. Nevertheless, I realized my experience would be dictated by my expectations, and although an anti-applebee's sentiment had been engrained in my psyche from an early-age, I fought my subconscious and cleared my mind of all bias when I entered my own personal dining purgatory. As I escaped from the brisk fall wind, I held my breath as I meandered my way into the establishment. My refusal to breathe was no metaphor, as I had a legitimate concern that the stench of Applebee's would be overbearing. Moments before passing out, my will to stay conscious was overpowered by my fear of catching an airborne pathogen, and I gasped for air. To my surprise, I was not immediately infected with a rare disease, but actually greeted by a warm, desirable smell that I had originally thought was impossible to be contained in any Applebee's establishment. Throughout the night, my unjustified biases were continually dismissed, as Applebee's was nothing like I had envisioned when hearing tales about it around a dim campfire. After checking in on Yelp, I was notified that I would be treated to a coupon for a free appetizer. This pleasant surprise ended up dictating the meal choice for my party of two, as we both decided that chicken quesadillas sounded delightfully un-authentic. Our coupon was then put to good use through the decision to split a basket of honey barbeque boneless wings. After placing our order, I realized that I had left my preference for healthy sustenance at the door, but was able to push aside that thought by enriching myself in a delightful conversation with Applebee's number one fan, who I happened to be dining with. With a relatively empty presence on this chilly Tuesday night, service was fast and polite, but the quesadilla was not nearly as charming as our gracious waiter. Perhaps it was the abundance of salt that dried my mouth with every bite. It could have also been the relatively small portion size of the cheese filled dish that didn't quite sit right me with. Regardless, the simple dish was not poor in quality, but didn't blow-away my already low expectations. The boneless wings were a great complement to the dish, as the sweetness of the chicken helped mask the saltiness of my tortilla wrapped appetizer. After washing down my meal with a glass of unsweetened iced tea, I felt a looming feeling of emptiness. Even while taking advantage of the half-off appetizer special, and using a coupon, the amount of satisfaction that I received did not feel equivalent to the monetary price I paid. One week ago, the mentioning of the word "apple" would remind me of the beautiful fall leaves fluttering in the wind at a cider mill. The word "bees" would bring an association of environmental awareness, as well as a notion of danger when confronting these yellow striped insects. But the pairing of the words together, side-by-side, would create a physical reaction strong enough for me to loose my appetite at any given moment, as Applebee's and garbage we only different to me in spelling, not meaning. But now, after having dined at Applebee's, my harsh criticism was met with a grounding truth. Applebee's, to me, is now a haven for slightly over-priced food, that may or may not leave you feeling satisfied with your night. Applebee's is neither the sweet taste of a freshly-picked golden delicious, nor the painful sting of an angry bee protecting its queen, but a friendly middle-ground between pain and satisfaction, thus making it a testament to its infamous title. read more

This was my first time coming to this Applebee's during the COVID era. I was satisfied to see that all the employees were cleaning all the surfaces and wearing masks. The service at this Applebee's was excellent from start to finish, our waiter did an excellent job. The food was also pretty good. If you go to Applebee's you know what to expect. Good food at good prices nothing above that, and nothing below that. I got the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp with a side of Mashed Potatoes. The only thing I wish is that I got a different side, the Mashed Potatoes were not seasoned. The Chicken and Shrimp on the other hand were amazing. I also got the Smoky Mozzarella Ravioli. This dish was also solid. Nothing to complain about here, the grilled chicken pieces were the highlight of the dish to me. Went here after a movie with my son. We got here about 8:15 on a Friday night. It wasn't jammed by any means and we were seated immediately. Waitress got our drinks and took our order. We waited about 30 minutes for our food which I thought was a bit long. The food however, when it came out was hot and fresh tasting. I got the steak with bacon mac & cheese. Dined here tonight and it's busy, but not too busy for a Friday. Our server took quite some time to come to our table to get our drink order. He eventually came and I ordered Won ton tacos. They came out fairly quick, but after I bit into one I realized why: the shell was not cooked. It was all downhill afterwards. Although our server was very polite and friendly, he kept forgetting to bring things that we asked for, forgetting to put in orders we requested, and charged us for a drink that was never made(until the bartender heard us say take it off because we're leaving). We paid our bill over ten minutes ago yet we're still sitting here waiting to receive our cards and change . To top it all, my bil came out of the restroom asking for hand sanitizer because there's no soap in there... what are the (male)employees using to wash their hands? It's Applebee's. I guess I shouldn't complain because the two for twenty is a real great deal, and overall my food was decent. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp Pasta and thought that the seasoning was right on. Just enough of a burn to call it Cajun but not to much to make it inedible. I did think that it could have been made just a little lighter. The olive oil didn't mix well with the pasta and became a heavy paste. My wife's salad was good and offered more than enough for one person to eat. Good service and a slightly party atmosphere kind of tops off our experience. My only issues is that I'm having to slog through the Weight Watchers program, I'd like to see a more varied menu of low cal, low carb food. The only things they had looked to be relatively tasteless. My pasta could have been lightened just a little and still have been just as good. read more

For my meal, got the two for $20, which was the boneless chicken bites (had the buffalo and sweet&spicy, both were equally good), and the three cheese chicken penne ( pretty good), also had the fries (have potential to them, but were brought out cold). For a long time, Applebee's has been an agreeable and convenient place to eat in my household. The entire chain has recently changed almost the entirety of their menu in the last 6 months or so. My group of friends came here for dinner (3 people). We were greeted and immediately sat in a high-top table near the bar. For starters, our table had no silverware or napkins, and we did not realize this until our appetizers came. A runner brought us out our two appetizers, spinach dip and beer cheese with pretzels, but did not bring out or bother to offer small plates that you typically receive with an appetizer. This was no biggie for our group, so we didn't bother to track someone down. The servings of these two particular appetizers have shrunk with no change in price. You are given significantly less spinach dip, and only TWO pretzels sticks for your cheese. For our entrees, we all decided to create our meals from their summer wood-fired grill menu. You get to pick your meat, along with two sides. Collectively, everyone at my table chose the "crispy cheddar bacon potatoes." About the time our food had been served, my friend and I were gone to the restroom, so we didn't get to see our food served in front of us. We immediately noticed that the potatoes we all ordered looked different on each plate. They are essentially loaded potatoes, and only 1/3 plates had sour cream and chives. Some had bacon, others had none, some had no cheese...you get the idea. It took a bit for our waiter to come back to check on us at this point, and I had decided to switch potatoes with my friend that had the sour cream (she actually didn't want that), so I scraped hers onto my plate, and mine to hers. This is about the time the waiter returned wondering why I'm what I'm doing. I'm typically not one to complain about my food, but we choose to let him know that their was in fact a problem with our food. Aside from the potatoes, one of the other sides my friend had was the "4 cheese mac and cheese." On my plate, I ordered the "garlic green beans" with "salmon with maple mustard glaze." Her mac and cheese was dry. My entire plate was overwhelmingly under-seasoned and my green beans were basically drenched in garlic. My salmon was not cooked or served with this special glaze on the fillet, and was served cold in a cup on the side. Our table was overall displeased with the food and we did let our waiter know every bit of what was wrong. Our waiter was overall very pleasant and attentive. We all understood he had no part in cooking our meals, but did his best to rectify the poor experience. We felt the poor meals could be chalked to maybe they haven't got the new menus down yet or new cooks? Our waiter spoke with a manager and offered to buy us all dessert. The manager came to our table to discuss what was wrong with our meal, however had somewhat of a condescending approach in the way he spoke to us - having a hard time understanding why some of the food did not meet our expectations, and trying to say he did not understand how the food could be so poor. They offered to get us dessert, and only 2/3 of us at the table accepted the offer. They did also take the potato side off each of our bill. Lastly, the manager made wishes for us hoping to return and gave us a $5 off $25 coupon [upon further examination the coupon says valid only in West Michigan locations]. The entrees are inedible, appetizers were subpar, and professionalism from management was a little lacking in our experience. Two stars are given instead of a deserved 1, due to our server being so attentive and apologetic. I have no plans on returning to this location after several poor experiences here. read more
